The surgeon and the whole medical team have been absolutely brilliant
I was really worried about the recovery period, and the truth is it hasn’t been as easy as I expected. My stomach is still swollen, and the compression garments are still tight, but the hardest part so far has been dealing with the annoying numb patches. That said, the surgeon and the whole medical team have been absolutely brilliant. The doctor explained to me that he used ultrasound technology (VASER) and removed between 3 and 4 litres of fat, and I felt I was in safe hands with them. Unfortunately, the clinic’s facilities weren’t up to the same standard as the quality of medical care, which is why I’ve given it a lower rating. Overall, I’m optimistic about the final result.

The operation went well, quickly and painlessly
The operation went well, quickly and painlessly. They provided all the necessary medication to be taken afterwards. The staff were always in touch. After the operation we had several additional check-ups to make sure that everything was OK. They constantly organised the transfer from the hotel to the clinic and back.

My biggest surprise is the lack of results. Although I am only just beginning my recovery, my skin is already much looser than I expected after such a procedure. The hardest part so far has been the visibility of the bruises, which were very extensive. I have to admit: the staff were decent. However, communication with the surgeon was virtually non-existent, to the extent that I’m not even sure which technique was used. The clinic’s overall organisation was also poor. I would absolutely not recommend this clinic.
I was received in a large room, decorated like a palace! I was greeted and asked for payment very quickly! Then came immediate examinations and the operation was scheduled for the next day
Everything was fine until I entered the operating room (a different building, much less impressive!). The anesthesia was administered on the operating table. The operating table, covered in green plastic with numerous black stains (blood), made me want to run away. Then I let myself go, almost resigned. Waking up was difficult, and I spent a day and two nights in my room, heavily medicated with painkillers, with nurses who were at least quite friendly. All the bruises took more than a month to disappear. I watched my face sag day by day. Nothing had changed! The treated areas are still numb, eight months after the operation. The scars are clearly visible, and the skin is completely loose. In short, a rip-off operation. And the final gift, because it has to be said, hepatitis C! This hospital isn't a hospital! It's a scam clinic! I am, of course, available to anyone who wants to know more about my surgery, a lower face and neck lift. The clinic promised me a touch-up on my neck after I go for a follow-up appointment and show them the significant skin laxity, but I'm too afraid of ending up with a completely unsightly face if I entrust them with my face again. This is a true story, and I have all the necessary documentation to prove it.

Our Gynecomastia surgery Techniques: What Suits You Best?

When considering Gynecomastia surgery, it’s important to understand the different techniques and which is best suited for you. Here’s a concise comparison of popular options:

Airsculpt Gynecomastia Surgery

A minimally invasive procedure using laser-assisted liposuction to remove excess breast tissue in men.

Pros: Provides precise fat removal with minimal scarring. Recovery is faster, with many patients returning to work within 48-72 hours. The procedure is performed under local anesthesia, reducing risks associated with general anesthesia.
Cons: Limited to removing up to 5 liters of fat per session. May not address glandular tissue effectively, requiring additional procedures for comprehensive results.
Effectiveness: Removes up to 5 liters of fat in a single session.
Duration: 1-3 hours
Recovery: 2-3 days
Best for: Men with excess fat in the chest area and seeking a less invasive option.

Liposuction for gynecomastia

Male breast surgery removes excess fat in the chest area through liposuction.

Pros: Minimally invasive. Faster recovery compared to gynecomastia revision surgery. 80% satisfaction rate among patients.
Cons: Cannot address glandular tissue, unlike gynecomastia revision surgery. Limited to fat removal only.
Effectiveness: Removes up to 2 liters of fat per session.
Duration: 1-2 hours
Recovery: 1-2 weeks
Best for: Reducing fat in male chest due to obesity or hormonal imbalance.
Prices: Cost of Liposuction for gynecomastia in Thailand from $2,285

Gynecomastia Revision Surgery

Refines previous male breast reduction surgeries to improve aesthetic outcomes or address complications.

Pros: Tailored to correct specific issues from past surgeries. Often involves minimal scarring with skilled plastic surgeon. Can address asymmetry effectively.
Cons: May require more than one session for optimal results. Risk of scar tissue complications at 10-15%.
Effectiveness: Success rate of 85-90% in achieving desired chest contour.
Duration: 1-3 hours
Recovery: 2-4 weeks
Best for: Correcting asymmetry, removing excess tissue, improving appearance post initial surgery.
Prices: Cost of Gynecomastia revision surgery in Thailand from $2,590

Pectoral implant placement

Involves inserting a solid silicone implant under the chest muscle to enhance the contour and size of the pectoral area.

Pros: Provides a natural-looking increase in chest size with minimal scarring. Offers a 95% satisfaction rate among patients.
Cons: May involve a longer recovery period compared to fat transfer, with potential for implant shifting.
Effectiveness: Achieves a consistent and symmetrical pectoral enhancement in 90% of cases.
Duration: 2-3 hours
Recovery: 4-6 weeks
Best for: Individuals seeking enhanced chest definition and volume, especially for those with underdeveloped pectoral muscles.

How is gynecomastia surgery performed?

Gynecomastia surgery, also known as male breast reduction, involves removing excess breast tissue and fat to achieve a flatter, more masculine chest. The procedure may include liposuction, excision of glandular tissue, or a combination of both, depending on the severity of the condition. In Thailand, this surgery is commonly performed under general anesthesia in accredited medical facilities.

Am I a suitable candidate for gynecomastia surgery?

Ideal candidates are healthy men experiencing persistent breast enlargement that doesn't respond to diet or exercise. Gyno surgery is most effective when glandular tissue is the primary cause rather than just fat accumulation.

What is the typical recovery time after gyno surgery?

Recovery varies, but most patients can return to non-strenuous activities within 3 to 7 days. Swelling and bruising typically subside over 2 to 4 weeks, with full recovery and final results evident after 3 to 6 months. Wearing a compression garment during the initial recovery period aids in healing and contouring.

What are the potential risks and complications associated with the gynecomastia procedure?

As with any surgical procedure, some risks include infection, bleeding, scarring, asymmetry, and changes in nipple sensation. However, complications are relatively rare when performed by experienced surgeons. A study published in the Aesthetic Surgery Journal reported that 95.6% of patients experienced no complications after gyno surgery.

Will the results of gynecomastia surgery be permanent?

Yes, the removal of excess glandular tissue and fat is permanent. However, significant weight gain, hormonal imbalances, or use of certain medications can lead to recurrence. Maintaining a stable weight and healthy lifestyle helps preserve the surgical results.

Are there visible scars after the male breast reduction?

Incisions are small and strategically placed to minimize visibility, often around the areola or in natural chest creases. Over time, scars fade and become less noticeable. Proper post-operative care and following your surgeon's instructions can further reduce scarring.

Can gynecomastia surgery address asymmetrical chest appearance?

Yes, gyno surgery can correct asymmetry by tailoring tissue and fat removal for a balanced chest contour. Thai surgeons assess each side individually to ensure symmetry and natural-looking results.

How do I choose a reputable clinic for gynecomastia surgery in Thailand?

Look for clinics with board-certified plastic surgeons who have experience in male breast reduction procedures. Accreditations like those from the Joint Commission International (JCI) indicate adherence to high medical standards. Reading patient reviews and before-and-after photos can also provide insight into the clinic's quality of care.

What are the best clinics in Thailand for gynecomastia surgery?

Based on the Bookimed ranking, the top clinics for male breast reduction are:

  • Wansiri Hospital – Bangkok, Thailand
  • Asia Cosmetic Hospital – Bangkok, Thailand
  • Bangkok Plastic Surgery – Bangkok, Thailand
  • Yanhee International Hospital – Bangkok, Thailand
  • Rattinan Clinic – Bangkok, Thailand
  • ID Clinic Bangkok – Bangkok, Thailand

What pre-operative preparations are necessary?

Pre-operative steps include a comprehensive medical evaluation, blood tests, and imaging studies if needed. Patients are advised to stop smoking and avoid certain medications, like aspirin, that can increase bleeding risk. Following your surgeon's specific instructions is crucial for a successful outcome.

How do I find the best surgeon for gynecomastia surgery in Thailand?

For example, Dr. Saran Wannachamras at Wansiri Hospital combines 30+ years of experience with US-based training. Choosing a surgeon who specializes in both reconstructive and cosmetic procedures often leads to better contouring in complex male breast reduction cases.

Patient Consensus: Patients emphasize that thorough check-ups after surgery helped them feel much more secure. They note that having reliable local transportation provided by the clinic makes the recovery process much easier. Many felt relieved when surgeons clearly explained exactly where scars would be placed before the procedure started.

Do Thai doctors offer advanced techniques like VASER or RF skin tightening for gynecomastia?

Thai plastic surgeons lead in gynecomastia correction using advanced VASER liposuction and RF skin tightening. These experts combine ultrasound energy with micro-excisions to contour the chest. Specialists often utilize BodyTite or J-Plasma for superior skin retraction and smoother results.

  • VASER technology: Doctors use ultrasound waves to emulsify fat while protecting connective tissues.
  • RF tightening: Surgeons apply radiofrequency energy to firm loose skin after removing glandular tissue.
  • Dual approaches: Clinics integrate VASER with traditional excision for precise masculine sculpting.
  • Advanced training: Many Thai surgeons hold international fellowships in aesthetic and reconstructive surgery.

Bookimed Expert Insight: While VASER is standard, the most refined results come from surgeons with diverse technical backgrounds. For instance, Dr. Saran Wannachamras at Wansiri Hospital brings US-based training from East Virginia School. Can I have a virtual consultation with a Thai gynecomastia surgeon before traveling?

These sessions help determine the best technique, such as liposuction or gland excision, from home.

  • Digital communication: Doctors use Zoom or WhatsApp to discuss surgical goals and medical history.
  • Credential confirmation: Virtual calls allow you to verify board certifications and English fluency.
