It was a terrible experience which I never want to go through again. Upon arrival at the hospital, the consultant , Jeab who led me there was not present to receive me. Instead I was attended by the medical sstaff who flatly shot down the agreed quotations offered by Jeab and even said they do not need the VDO anymore so they could not offer me what Jeab did and I was told I had to pay 3 times the proce of what I was offered before. Consequent to the price dispute, there were lots of bleak moments between the consultant and the medical staff internally then I was made to wait for over two hours then they suddenly reversed to ask for VDO compromised on an agreed price. I repeated said no to revealing my face for the VDO and the secretary Kimmy assured me my face will not be shown on camera. Prior to seeing the doctor, I was told to made payment first. For every doctor consultation, I had to go to the cashier to complete the payment and I was seeing two different doctors meant I had to repeat same process twice touring the entire medical centre so many times. What was most stupid was that I was never informed that I had to pay out of pocket for the Covid-9 test which I deem really unfair when there was konsixh prior information and they just dumped all the hidden cost on me. I only did the arm Vader+body tite along with pick laser for vaginal and I was made to go from building to building spending 7 hours there the entire day is really uncalled for!!!
The attending doctors are both very professional.
Medical staff lacks the professional etiquettes

FAQ about Stem cell therapy for Alzheimer's disease in Thailand

These FAQs come from real patients seeking medical assistance through Bookimed. Answers are given by experienced medical coordinators and trusted clinic representatives.

What specific qualifications do Thai doctors have for Alzheimer's stem cell therapy?

Thai doctors specializing in Alzheimer's stem cell therapy hold medical degrees from top universities like Chulalongkorn. They possess board certifications from the American Board of Regenerative Medicine (ABRM). These specialists complete intensive training in mesenchymal stem cell protocols and neuro-regeneration.

  • Board certifications: Leading specialists hold American Board of Anti-Aging and Regenerative Medicine (ABAARM) credentials.
  • Neuro-specific training: Doctors like Dr. Piyaphon On-phoon specialize in innovative regenerative therapies for neurological conditions.
  • Academic excellence: Top practitioners graduate from prestigious institutions including Mahidol University and Chiang Mai University.
  • Clinical research: Experts often hold certifications in mesenchymal stem cells from the Thai Association of Cell Therapy.

Bookimed Expert Insight: A notable trend among elite Thai regenerative specialists is the pursuit of multidisciplinary master's degrees. Dr. Natthaphon Suwan and Dr. Gorpong Koowattanataworn both hold advanced degrees in health management alongside their medical qualifications. This data suggests these practitioners focus on the entire clinical pathway. It translates to more structured treatment protocols for complex neurodegenerative cases at clinics like Harmony Life Center.

Patient Consensus: Patients note that doctors in Bangkok hospitals like Panacee speak excellent English. Many people feel reassured by the personal attention received during consultations. They emphasize that while facilities look modern, verifying a doctor's specific publications in medical journals builds the most trust.

Which professional bodies do reputable Thai stem cell doctors belong to?

Reputable Thai stem cell doctors hold credentials from leading global and national regulatory bodies. Experts in Alzheimer's protocols typically possess board certifications from the American Board of Regenerative Medicine (ABRM). They also maintain active memberships in the Association of Cell Therapy, Thailand (ACTTHAI).

  • International Society for Cell & Gene Therapy: Membership indicates alignment with global cell therapy research standards.
  • American Board of Anti-Aging Medicine: Many specialists hold ABAARM certification for regenerative medicine expertise.
  • Thai Medical Council: All practicing doctors must be registered with this national authority.
  • World Society of Anti-Aging Medicine: Leading physicians participate in this Belgium-based global professional network.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Data shows that top-tier Thai regenerative specialists frequently hold dual certifications from both Thai and US boards. For instance, Dr. Natthaphon Suwan at Harmony Life Center is certified by the World Society of Anti-Aging Medicine and the American Board of Anti-Aging and Regenerative Medicine. This ensures they apply international safety protocols to Alzheimer's stem cell treatments in Bangkok.

Patient Consensus: Patients note that doctors at these centers are highly qualified and take time to explain complex cell protocols. Many felt reassured when they saw certifications from both the Thai Medical Council and international boards displayed. They often mention that the medical staff is professional and provides a very high standard of care.

How do doctors in Thailand determine if a patient is a candidate?

Doctors in Thailand evaluate Alzheimer's stem cell candidacy through medical history reviews and basic health screenings. Specialists like Dr. Chollawat Thongthaisin at Vega Clinic assess physical fitness for travel and treatment. They prioritize patients without active infections or severe comorbidities to ensure safe administration of regenerative protocols.

  • Specialized board certification: Leading practitioners hold American Board of Regenerative Medicine credentials for Alzheimer's.
  • Neurological screening: Doctors review existing symptoms and cognitive decline stages during initial assessments.
  • Physical fitness tests: Standard blood panels and diagnostic imaging check for underlying health stability.
  • Virtual evaluation: Candidates undergo remote consultations to confirm travel readiness and treatment eligibility.

Bookimed Expert Insight: While many facilities focus on general wellness, top-tier doctors like Dr. Piyaphon On-phoon at Panacee Hospital integrate specialized nutrition and chelation therapy. This dual approach often leads to better patient readiness by addressing systemic inflammation before starting the actual stem cell protocol. Patients can book online consultations with these specialists starting from $50.

Patient Consensus: Patients note that the qualification process is often fast and relies on simple online health forms. Many felt relieved by the quick acceptance but noticed that extensive neurological testing was not always required. Experience suggests being prepared for a brief medical interview focused on immediate physical health rather than long-term genetic markers.

Which medical departments typically handle these treatments?

In Thailand, stem cell therapy for Alzheimer's disease is primarily managed by regenerative medicine and anti-aging departments. These specialized units focus on cellular rejuvenation rather than traditional drug-based symptom management. Treatments are often led by physicians board-certified in regenerative medicine rather than standard hospital neurology departments.

  • Regenerative medicine: Doctors focus on mesenchymal stem cells to address neurodegeneration and systemic inflammation.
  • Anti-aging departments: Specialized clinics integrate cell therapy with hormone management and advanced nutritional protocols.
  • Preventive medicine: Departments manage chronic neuroinflammation through chelation therapy and high-dose vitamin infusions.
  • Integrative centers: Units combine osteopathy and traditional Chinese medicine with modern stem cell applications.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Data shows that leading practitioners in Bangkok, such as Dr. Chollawat Thongthaisin and Dr. Natthaphon Suwan, hold American Board of Anti-Aging and Regenerative Medicine (ABAARM) certifications. This international training is common among top Thai doctors, who often operate within private integrative hospitals like Panorama and Harmony Life rather than public teaching hospitals.

Patient Consensus: Patients note that these treatments usually take place in modern wellness clinics that feel more like spas than hospitals. Many were surprised to find general practitioners or integrative experts leading the sessions instead of dedicated brain specialists. Patients emphasize the importance of verifying if the medical team has specific experience with neurological protocols.
