Such an unparalleled, all-encompassing service is unthinkable in Germany!
My rather unexpected decision to have two implants fitted at the age of 76 was immediately put into action by Dentist Gürkan! He gave me excellent advice, then examined my jawbone using an X-ray, and after a further 45 minutes, the two implants were professionally and perfectly in place! His very, very friendly manner and steady hand made this procedure a truly memorable experience! My thanks also go to the entire team: the surgical assistant, the reception staff, as well as the German interpreter and the member of staff who drove me from the office to the Dent-Helen-Clinic and, after the treatment, to the nearest cash machine, and looked after me. Such an unparalleled, all-encompassing service is unthinkable in Germany! Thank you very much for this positive experience and for continuing to keep your patients happy! I am already very much looking forward to returning to complete the treatment in a few months’ time! Best regards from Holger, aka Biker Bruno

I would recommend her any day
I decided to seek treatment with dentist Ela Cabuk after reading reviews so I'm hoping this review will help in the same way for another undecided person in making a sound choice,. I found her expertise professionalism and compassion to ones needs a true relief. I had receding gums on my top four front teeth and the roots were exposed, my own thought were to just get 4 on 4 but Ela found the perfect solution in restoring and firming my four front teeth without going to the extreme. I would recommend her any day, I could not fault my treatment or my outcome.

the service was excellent and I would recommend the clinic
If you’re thinking about getting crowns, I’d advise you to pay very close attention to the colour matching right from the start. I’ve had seven zirconia crowns fitted and the care I received from the surgeon and the staff was really good. Everything was professional. My only minor criticism is that the colour ended up being a touch too yellow compared to my natural teeth. I’m still in the healing phase and the sensation when chewing hasn’t quite settled yet, which is normal. Despite the minor colour issue, the service was excellent and I would recommend the clinic.
The clinic is very modern and clean, and the staff and dentist are very friendly and dedicated to their work. I would definitely recommend this clinic because they really did a great job; I was amazed by the results. Thank you very much.
The only thing I was missing was someone who spoke my language so I could communicate better, because I don't speak English, but I managed to get by using an app

The clinic provided excellent support after the procedure: they were always available and gave me clear aftercare instructions
It was very important to me that the surgeon personally carried out the placement of my seven-plus implants. Everything went according to plan. I’m currently in the early stages of recovery, and I’m feeling exactly as I expected, with no surprises. The clinic provided excellent support after the procedure: they were always available and gave me clear aftercare instructions. The doctor also gave me a clear timeline for the fitting of the crowns and, importantly, there were no additional costs.
Everything was very well organised: the hotel, the airport pick-up, and the taxi arrangements for the journey to the clinic and back to the hotel.
Personally, I was very pleased with everything, including the way the clinic was run

I would absolutely direct others to this clinic
My biggest worry going into this was the sensitivity afterwards. I was prepared for significant discomfort, but it was much more manageable than expected and has since disappeared completely. The results are very clear and objective. My teeth are visibly 4-5 shades whiter, and the color is perfectly uniform across my entire smile, with no patchiness at all. It’s a definite improvement. I am also tracking the color, and so far, the shade has held steady without any relapse. The whole process was handled professionally by the surgeon and staff in a modern clinic environment. I would absolutely direct others to this clinic.
Everything and everyone exceeded expectations, whitening was started and finished super efficiently, staff so friendly, professional and informative, price amazing, all dentists great, no upselling at all, would recommend and use again in a heartbeat
Absolutely nothing

I am extremely pleased with the final results and have had so many great reactions and comments about my new teeth, especially how natural and real they look
I recently returned from my second trip to WestDent Clinic in Izmir, Turkey. In September 2025 I had full mouth extractions, 12 Zirconia implants placed (6 upper jaw, 6 lower jaw), gums stitched over the implants to help Osseointegration of the implants. I returned in January 2026 for the final stage treatment and the installation of 24 Zirconium crowns. This involved the implants being revealed. The healing caps of the implants being removed and temporary abutments fitted so impressions could be taken of my gums, upper and lower jaws. This is so the implants will fit perfectly when my new teeth had been designed with the aid of C.A.D. The abutments were then removed and healing caps replaced onto the implants. Next day my permanent abutments were installed and I was given some temporary teeth which placed onto my abutments, and could be removed. They were made of a foul tasting material called PMMA. But it gave a good idea of the final results, even though they were a greyish colour. The final day my permanent teeth were checked rigourously for bite adjustment, gaps, spacing, alignment etc, before being placed permanently. My second visit was a five day stay, and involved visiting the Clinic each day, and a couple of longer days towards the end. But I am extremely pleased with the final results and have had so many great reactions and comments about my new teeth, especially how natural and real they look. But I have to say big Thanks to my medical coordinator at Bookimed, Dr Kora. By booking my trip to WestDent Clinic in Izmir through Bookimed, it completely removed the added stress of having to organise all of the logistics of the trip on my own. Dr Kora was extremely helpful and efficient in helping to organise and arrange everything with the Clinic on my behalf. Also answering any questions or concerns I may have had at any point, over the two trips. For which I am extremely grateful!
I recently returned from my second visit to WestDent Clinic in Izmir, Turkey. The Clinic is staffed by warm and welcoming people. You are treated well, and the Clinic itself is clean and hygienic.
I honestly can't say that there was anything I didn't like. I felt like I was treated well during both visits and the level of professionalism and care was very good. Obviously having dental implants involves a significant amount of dental work to be done, but I felt it was done as well as possible.

Excellent service provided by Bookimed. I am especially grateful for the help and assistance I received at all stages by the amazing Dr Kora! Always polite, friendly and ready to help. Arranged all of the logistics with WestDent Clinic on my behalf for both trips. For which I will always be grateful. I would highly recommend Bookimed to anyone who is thinking about going abroad for a medical procedure!

Everything just feels right
If you're considering veneers, I would absolutely point you toward this clinic. My biggest worry was whether they would look and feel natural, but that concern is gone. The surgeon and staff were wonderful. I received over ten zirconia veneers, and the color is a perfect blend with my other teeth. It's still early, but I've had no sensitivity to hot or cold drinks, and my bite feels completely perfect. Everything just feels right. The care I received from everyone involved made the whole process feel manageable and positive.

His support, responsiveness, and commitment made all the difference for me, and I am sincerely grateful for everything he did
I want to sincerely thank Winnington at Bookimed for the exceptional support he provided during my dental treatment (4 implants) journey in Istanbul. What truly stood out was how Winnington completely transformed a very stressful situation into a successful and fully satisfying experience. I only had a 3-day stay in Istanbul after a long 9.5 hrs flight from Canada, initially I had an appointment arranged with another clinic that I honestly did not feel comfortable moving forward with. At that point, the situation became very stressful because of the limited time I had available and the fear of wasting the entire trip without receiving the treatment I urgently needed. This is where Winnington went far above and beyond. Understanding the urgency and pressure I was under, he acted incredibly fast and managed to arrange a new appointment for me with Memorial Hospital on extremely short notice. Thanks entirely to his efforts, coordination, and persistence, I was able to secure an appointment almost immediately despite the tight timeline. That single action completely changed the outcome of my trip. The experience at Memorial Hospital was outstanding from start to finish, I left extremely satisfied with both the care and the results. Throughout the entire process, Winnington stayed in constant communication, followed up regularly, helped clarify pricing and logistics, handled concerns professionally, and genuinely made me feel supported during a very stressful moment. What impressed me most was not only his professionalism, but his ability to deliver solutions under pressure and truly advocate for the patient. Without his quick actions and dedication, my trip could have easily turned into a disappointing experience. I highly recommend Bookimed (big shout out to Winnington) to anyone considering medical treatment abroad. His support, responsiveness, and commitment made all the difference for me, and I am sincerely grateful for everything he did.

I was genuinely surprised at how manageable it all turned out to be
I had mentally prepared myself for a difficult recovery, but I was genuinely surprised at how manageable it all turned out to be. The areas where eight to ten strategic implants were placed are barely noticeable in my jaw. Of course, the process is still ongoing — I’m on a soft diet for now, but that’s a minor detail compared to how I feel overall. The surgeon and the entire team were very professional and attentive. For anyone considering a similar procedure, I can say that my experience at this clinic was a positive one.
The Russian-speaking coordinator organised absolutely everything: my appointments with the doctor, my stay at the hotel, transport, and looked after me perfectly both during and after the procedure. The doctor is a true professional, and the price for the services is very reasonable. I have consulted many doctors in different countries around the world, but these are the only ones I can recommend. Thank you, Mavidenta Clinic🥰

It was an experience my husband and I will never forget!!
Bookimed was so helpful and extremely nice. Everything they told me was to the detail accurate. I was very nervous about this because we’d never traveled that far before, just so many unknowns. But from the minute we were picked up from the airport we felt completely comfortable. Even with the language barrier, there were tons of laughs, smiles and hugs. It was an experience my husband and I will never forget!!
About Bookimed service
I was very nervous about this trip and had tons of questions, so I’m sure at times I was driving the young lady that helped me crazy, but never did she make me feel that way. She always answered me in a timely fashion. She would even call the dentist office with questions I had and she would let me know right away what they had to say. I’m usually not a very trusting person, but she helped me know that even though we’d never met I could completely trust her. It was an experience of a lifetime, and I would definitely use them again.

They have a true eye for detail
My biggest fear was that my new smile would look obviously artificial, but the team here really listened. They have a true eye for detail. The surgeon and the entire staff were so supportive from the first consultation, which made the whole process feel manageable and clear. I felt comfortable. It’s still early in my recovery, and the biggest challenge right now is being patient and avoiding hard foods while everything settles. The care I received at the clinic was consistent and professional, and I'm very pleased with the outcome so far.
I'm pleased with the All on 6 treatment. I had the first stage done three weeks ago. Now everything is slowly healing. I recommend the YEG clinic.

I was incredibly relieved that the feeling is now completely gone
My main concern was the potential for lingering tooth sensitivity, so I was incredibly relieved that the feeling is now completely gone. The results are noticeable—my teeth are about 4 to 5 shades whiter, and the new color is holding steady. The surgeon and staff were professional and earned their high marks. The whitening is mostly even across all my teeth, which is good, though not perfectly uniform, explaining my 8/10 recommendation. Overall, it was a very straightforward process with a solid outcome.
Smooth seamless process
Maybe more English signs but other than that I still managed to communicate. Excellent coordinatior tho cannot fault them - Bookimed was great

The result is noticeable yet natural—my teeth are now 2–3 shades lighter
I was very lucky with the dentist and the clinic staff; the whole experience was very comfortable. The result is noticeable yet natural—my teeth are now 2–3 shades lighter. And I’m glad that I have absolutely no sensitivity to cold drinks. The hardest part after the whitening treatment turned out to be avoiding foods that stain; that takes discipline. My main advice to anyone planning to have the procedure: be prepared not to eat foods that stain your teeth for a while, and even take a toothbrush and toothpaste with you to restaurants so you can maintain the whiteness straight away.
Everything was great
No downsides

The clinic staff were very caring; I’d like to give them a special thank you
My biggest concern was whether the bridge would look natural. Fortunately, the colour matched my natural teeth very closely, so that’s all fine. I had a zirconia bridge fitted over 5–6 teeth. The clinic staff were very caring; I’d like to give them a special thank you. However, I would have liked a better rapport with the surgeon; I was left with the feeling that not everything had been fully discussed. I am currently getting used to it. The main difficulty is sensitivity when chewing, and I am still getting used to my new bite. Overall, the result is good, although the process itself was not ideal.

FAQ about Inlay/Onlay in Turkey

These FAQs come from real patients seeking medical assistance through Bookimed. Answers are given by experienced medical coordinators and trusted clinic representatives.

Which qualifications and certifications should I look for in a dentist who performs inlay/onlay procedures in Turkey?

Look for Turkish dentists with specialized training in restorative dentistry or prosthodontics. Qualified experts often hold a PhD or specialized residency certificate. Key credentials include membership in the Turkish Dental Association and clinics with International Health Tourism Authorization from the Ministry of Health.

  • Specialized titles: Look for Uzman Diş Hekimi or PhD titles in Restorative Dentistry.
  • Academic thesis focus: Dr. Erisa Olkun at My Nova clinic specialized in inlay/onlay burs.
  • International memberships: Membership in the American Dental Association or EDAD shows international standards.
  • Research background: Dr. Kübra Cantürk at İstinye Hospital has published research on CAD/CAM ceramics.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Data shows that top-tier Turkish dentists often transition from academic roles to clinical practice. For example, Dr. Erhan Firat was a professor at Ankara University for over 25 years. These practitioners often bring advanced research perspectives on material bonding and CAD/CAM accuracy, which are critical for the long-term success of indirect restorations.

Patient Consensus: Patients emphasize the importance of choosing a dentist who explains why an inlay is better than a crown. They notice when doctors use digital scans instead of manual molds. Realizing that the restoration fits perfectly without heavy bite adjustments brings the most relief after the procedure.

Which regulatory body monitors Turkish doctors treating international dental patients?

Turkish dentists treating international patients are primarily monitored by the Turkish Ministry of Health and the Turkish Dental Association. These bodies regulate clinic licensing and professional standards. Clinics must also hold an International Health Tourism Authorization Certificate to legally serve foreign visitors.

  • Ministry of Health: Conducts safety audits and mandates strict hygiene protocols for all dental facilities.
  • Turkish Dental Association: Maintains the national registry and enforces ethical standards for practicing dentists.
  • International Authorization: Clinics must hold a specific certificate to offer services to international travelers.
  • Accreditation standards: Top clinics also maintain JCI or ISO certifications to demonstrate global quality.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Patient data shows that top-rated dentists often seek voluntary international memberships to supplement local oversight. For example, Dr. Erhan Firat at TWT Health Clinic is a member of the American Dental Association. Dr. Erisa Olkun at My Nova Clinic holds affiliations with the World Dental Federation and European Foundation for Quality Management. These extra credentials often signal a higher commitment to international clinical protocols.

Patient Consensus: Patients note that formal oversight is robust but emphasize verifying specific clinic licenses before arrival. They often suggest confirming who performs the final bonding of inlay or onlay restorations. Many feel more secure when clinics provide clear written terms for follow-up care after they return home.

How many inlay/onlay cases per year does an experienced aesthetic dentist in Turkey typically handle?

Experienced aesthetic dentists in Turkey typically handle 50 to 100+ inlay/onlay cases per year. This volume significantly exceeds that of standard practitioners in other countries. Top specialists hold PhDs in restorative dentistry and maintain a strong focus on tooth-preserving ceramic restorations.

  • Academic expertise: Specialists like Dr. Mustafa Orkun Ertugrul hold PhDs specifically in restorative dentistry.
  • Specialized research: Dr. Erisa Olkun conducted her graduation thesis specifically on inlay and onlay restorations.
  • Digital integration: Leading clinics use CAD/CAM technology to design and mill ceramic pieces same-day.
  • Material science: Experts like Dr. Kubra Canturk publish research on bonding agents for CAD/CAM ceramics.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Data shows that the most qualified inlay/onlay specialists in Turkey often transition from academic roles to private practice. For example, Dr. Erhan Firat was a University Professor for over 5 years. Patients should prioritize doctors with PhDs in restorative dentistry over general cosmetic titles for these specific indirect restorations.

Patient Consensus: Patients note that these restorations are a routine weekly occurrence for Turkish experts rather than rare procedures. Those who received treatment emphasize the importance of precise bite adjustments to avoid high spots after returning home. Many were surprised by the speed of the lab coordination when using modern ceramic materials.

What is the average consultation fee to see an inlay/onlay specialist in Istanbul compared to other Turkish cities?

Dental consultation fees in Istanbul typically range from $50 to $150 for inlay and onlay specialists. Prices in hub cities like Antalya or Izmir are generally lower, often between $30 and $90. Many specialized clinics for international patients deduct this initial fee from the total treatment cost.

  • Specialist qualification: Standalone fees for restorative dentistry professors or prosthodontists usually command higher rates.
  • Regional variations: Antalya clinics often offer lower fees due to a highly competitive dental market.
  • Inclusions check: Standard fees may exclude digital X-rays or 3D imaging needed for custom restorations.
  • Package integration: Most clinics bundle diagnostics into total inlay prices, which range from $300 to $600.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Data shows that choosing specialists with academic backgrounds or PhDs in restorative dentistry, such as Assistant Professor Dr. Kubra Canturk at Istinye Dental Hospital, provides access to specific research-backed techniques in CAD/CAM ceramic bonding. This level of specialization is more common in Istanbul clinics, justifying the slightly higher standalone consultation rates compared to general practices in smaller cities.

Patient Consensus: Patients note it is important to confirm what the fee covers. Many mention that Istanbul clinics focused on international care sometimes charge more, but the treatment plans are very detailed. Patients often suggest asking for a remote quote before traveling to see if the session cost can be waived.

How can I verify patient-before-after images and reviews to confirm a dentist’s expertise in ceramic onlay work?

Identify top dental expertise in Turkey by examining clinical photo precision and technical review patterns. Quality ceramic onlays require seamless margin blending and natural anatomical replication. Verify these by checking for consistent lighting and detailed case histories that explain the restorative material choices.

  • Margin blending: Ensure the ceramic edge is invisible without dark lines or visible borders.
  • Anatomical detail: Look for realistic grooves and ridges rather than flat ceramic blocks.
  • Case history: Request pre-op, immediate post-op, and long-term follow-up photos for functional evidence.
  • Technical reviews: Prioritize feedback mentioning bite comfort and the absence of food traps.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Data shows that leading Turkish specialists often have academic backgrounds specifically focused on bonding technology. Dr. Erisa Olkun at My Nova Kusadasi Dental Clinic wrote a graduation thesis on burs used specifically for inlay and onlay restorations. Similarly, Assist. Prof. Dr. Kubra Canturk at Istinye Dental Hospital holds a PhD with research focused on the bond strength of CAD/CAM ceramics.

Patient Consensus: Patients emphasize that looking at the 'beauty shot' isn't enough to judge a dentist. They note it is important to check if the new bite feels natural and if the gums stay pink and healthy months later. Many found that genuine reviews describe the specific steps of the bonding protocol rather than just general clinic friendliness.

What technologies and materials should I expect a top-end Turkish clinic to use for inlays/onlays?

Top Turkish clinics use CAD/CAM digital workflows and premium ceramics like lithium disilicate for precise inlays and onlays. Leading specialists like Dr. Erisa Olkun focus on conservative preservation using intraoral scanners. These systems replace messy physical molds with 3D digital impressions for a perfect marginal fit.

  • Digital scanning: Intraoral scanners from 3Shape or iTero capture precise thousands of 3D images.
  • Premium materials: High-strength lithium disilicate and multilayered zirconia provide lifelike translucency and durability.
  • Precision preparation: Doctors use dental microscopes to preserve healthy enamel during the shaping process.
  • Chairside milling: In-house milling machines allow for the creation of ceramic restorations in minutes.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Patient data shows a significant advantage when choosing doctors with academic research backgrounds in material science. For example, Dr. Kubra Canturk at İstinye Dental Hospital has published specific research on the bond strength of CAD/CAM ceramics. Selecting a specialist who studies these chemical bonds ensures the restoration remains securely fused for years.

Patient Consensus: Patients often mention their surprise at how quickly the digital scanning process finished compared to traditional trays. Many note that the use of rubber dams for moisture control made them feel more confident in the final bonding quality. They also value when doctors spend extra time adjusting the bite for natural movement.

Is language English sufficient at Turkish inlay/onlay clinics, or should I bring an interpreter?

English is sufficient at Turkish inlay/onlay clinics due to the prevalence of internationally trained dentists. Most specialists at facilities serving foreign patients speak fluent English. Bookimed manages all logistics, including professional translation services and dedicated patient coordinators, to ensure clear communication throughout your treatment.

  • Specialized researchers: Dr. Erisa Olkun wrote her graduation thesis specifically on inlay and onlay restorations.
  • Bilingual doctors: Specialists like Dr. Ugur Derdiyok and Dr. Hakan Kanisli offer direct English communication.
  • C1 Proficiency: Some practitioners, including Dr. Aydin Egem Yuvanc, hold C1-level English certifications for clinical accuracy.
  • Global training: Doctors such as Dr. Erhan Firat trained in the US, Switzerland, and Germany.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Data shows a high concentration of multilingual expertise in İzmir and Istanbul. For example, Dr. Erisa Olkun at My Nova Kusadasi Dental Clinic is fluent in English, Italian, and Albanian. Patients seeking complex aesthetic restorations should prioritize clinics where the lead dentist has international memberships, like the American Dental Association.

Patient Consensus: Patients note that while dentists are usually fluent, communication with lab staff or front-desk personnel can be limited. Many recommend preparing written questions about material choices and shade selection before the chairside appointment. Most felt comfortable using translation tools for quick administrative questions or follow-up care instructions.

What are the stages of receiving dental inlays or onlays in Turkey?

Receiving dental inlays or onlays in Turkey involves a streamlined two-session process. It is typically completed within 3 to 5 days. Turkish specialists use digital CAD/CAM technology to prepare the tooth and take impressions. They then bond custom E-max or zirconia restorations to repair moderate decay or fractures.

  1. Clinical assessment: Specialists perform X-rays and scans to see if an inlay or onlay is required.
  2. Digital preparation: Dentists remove decay and use CAD/CAM scanners for precise, comfortable digital tooth impressions.
  3. Custom fabrication: Skilled technicians at on-site laboratories craft the restoration from high-grade ceramic or composite resin.
  4. Final bonding: The specialist cleans the tooth, cements the restoration, and adjusts the bite for alignment.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Many leading Turkish centres, such as İstinye Dental Hospital, use digital workflows. These clinics often have on-site milling machines that can bypass traditional physical moulds. This can reduce the wait for the final restoration from days to just 24 hours.

Patient Consensus: Patients in Turkey find digital scans much more comfortable than traditional trays. Most suggest sending X-rays before travelling so the clinic can confirm the best fit.

Is the procedure for dental inlays or onlays in Turkey painful?

Dental inlay and onlay procedures in Turkey are typically painless. Dentists use local anaesthesia to numb the tooth and surrounding gums. Patients might feel vibration or pressure while the dentist removes decay. Specialists desensitise the area before shaping the custom ceramic or composite restoration.

  • Anaesthesia use: Local anaesthetic blocks all sharp pain during tooth preparation and shaping.
  • Specialist expertise: Restorative specialists like Dr Mustafa Orkun Ertugrul at İstinye Dental Hospital use precise techniques.
  • Digital technology: Clinics use digital CAD/CAM systems to create accurate fits. This reduces the need for adjustments.
  • Post-op sensations: Some patients feel mild cold sensitivity for 2–3 days after the final fitting.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Quality often depends on the practitioner's academic background. Restorative specialists like Dr Kubra Canturk at İstinye Dental Hospital hold PhDs in dental ceramics. Their research into CAD/CAM bonding helps restorations fit perfectly. This prevents sensitivity caused by poor seals.

Patient Consensus: Procedures in Turkey feel more tiring than painful. This is due to long drilling times or keeping the mouth open. Patients suggest asking for extra anaesthetic early if any sensation occurs. They also note that bite adjustments quickly resolve any initial discomfort.

How do inlays and onlays compare to dental crowns for patients travelling to Turkey?

Inlays and onlays are conservative alternatives to dental crowns for repairing damaged teeth. Crowns cover the entire tooth and need up to 75% of its structure removed. In contrast, inlays and onlays preserve natural tooth tissue by fitting into or onto the damaged area.

  • Structure preservation: Inlays and onlays require less drilling than crowns. This keeps more healthy enamel intact.
  • Modern technology: Istanbul clinics like İstinye Dental Hospital use 3D digital scanning for a precise fit.
  • Clinical expertise: Specialists like Dr Kubra Canturk focus on CAD/CAM ceramics for indirect restorations.
  • Cost benefits: Turkish procedures cost $300 to $600. This is much lower than the $800 Australian average.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Patient data shows Turkish clinics often recommend crowns for speed. However, specialists like Dr Erisa Olkun, who wrote her thesis on inlays, prioritise saving natural teeth. Seeing a restorative specialist instead of a general dentist ensures patients receive these conservative options.

Patient Consensus: Patients travelling to Turkey suggest asking for scans before preparation to see how much tooth survives. They found that requesting a written plan helped avoid unnecessary crowns and preserved their natural smiles.

How long can a patient expect dental inlays or onlays from a Turkish clinic to last?

Dental inlays and onlays in Turkey generally last between 10 and 30 years. Longevity depends on material choice and clinical precision. High-quality ceramic or zirconia often provides a lifespan exceeding 15 years. Specialist clinics in Istanbul and Antalya provide these restorations using digital workflows.

  • Material durability: Ceramic and zirconia typically last 15–30 years with proper oral hygiene.
  • Clinical expertise: Specialists like Dr. Erisa Olkun focus specifically on inlay and onlay precision.
  • Digital technology: CAD/CAM systems provide an exact fit. This prevents bacteria from entering margins.
  • Protective measures: Using a night guard for teeth grinding significantly extends the restoration lifespan.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Many Turkish specialists hold PhDs in restorative dentistry. For instance, Dr. Kubra Canturk at Istinye Dental Hospital has published research on CAD/CAM ceramics. This academic focus leads to better adhesion and fewer replacements for international patients.

Patient Consensus: Patients in Turkey report that ceramic materials like E-max feel like natural teeth. They also report that these materials last for years. Regular oral hygiene and bite adjustments during the fitting are key to long-term success.

What is the difference between an inlay and an onlay treatment in Turkey?

The difference between an inlay and an onlay in Turkey relates to size and placement. An inlay treats smaller cavities between the chewing surface points. An onlay is larger, covering the tooth centre and protecting one or more raised cusps. Specialists in Istanbul and Izmir use these custom-made lab restorations to repair significant damage.

  • Inlay placement: Replaces small sections within central grooves without involving any cusp tips.
  • Onlay coverage: Rebuilds more extensive damage by replacing one or more of the tooth hills.
  • Restoration material: Clinics use ceramic, composite resin, or E-max porcelain for 90% original strength.
  • Typical timeline: Most procedures take 2–3 appointments over 3–7 days for laboratory fabrication.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Turkish specialists like Dr. Erisa Olkun at My Nova Kusadasi Dental Clinic focus on inlay and onlay design for better aesthetic outcomes. Our data shows these indirect fillings save up to _price_percent_discount_% compared to Australian averages. They are often a smarter long-term choice than traditional fillings. This is because they preserve more natural tooth structure than full crowns.

Patient Consensus: Turkish dentists provide detailed radiographs to explain why an onlay is needed over an inlay. Patients find that these restorations feel identical to natural teeth while effectively rebuilding compromised structure.

What materials are used for dental inlays and onlays in Turkey?

Turkish dental clinics primarily use ceramics like E.max and zirconia for inlays and onlays. These materials provide durability and natural aesthetics. Clinics also offer composite resins for more conservative treatments. CAD/CAM technology often allows for same-day fabrication and fitting of these restorations.

  • Ceramic materials: Specialists use E.max (Ivoclar Vivadent) and VITA for high-strength, tooth-coloured restorations.
  • Zirconia options: Zirconia is frequently used for onlays requiring fracture resistance in back teeth.
  • Composite resins: Dentists apply composite materials for smaller, more cost-effective or temporary restorations.
  • Digital workflows: Clinics like İstinye Dental Hospital use CAD/CAM and 3D printing for precise digital designs.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Bookimed data shows that leading Turkish specialists often focus doctoral theses on inlay and onlay technology. Dr Erisa Olkun is one such specialist. This specialisation is why many Istanbul clinics offer bespoke, lab-fabricated ceramic restorations. These outperform standard fillings in both longevity and appearance.

Patient Consensus: Patients in Turkey frequently select ceramic or zirconia options for a natural look. Many recommend confirming whether the quote includes digital scans and temporary restorations to avoid extra costs.

What are the primary benefits of choosing inlays or onlays over standard fillings?

Inlays and onlays offer durability and tooth preservation when moderate decay makes standard fillings unsuitable. These custom-made restorations strengthen the biting surface. They often last 10 to 15 years. Choosing this conservative approach in Turkey saves up to 50% compared to the $800 Australian average.

  • Structural reinforcement: Onlays cover weakened cusps to prevent fractures under heavy chewing loads.
  • Conservative preparation: Surgeons remove less healthy enamel than required for a full crown.
  • Precise fit: CAD/CAM digital scanning at İstinye Dental Hospital provides highly accurate margins.
  • Material longevity: Porcelain or composite materials resist shrinking and leaking better than resin.
  • Aesthetic matching: Restorative specialists like Dr. Kubra Canturk match the restoration to your natural tooth shade.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Bookimed data shows several Turkish specialists hold PhDs specifically in restorative dentistry or CAD/CAM ceramics. Dr. Erisa Olkun focused her entire graduation thesis on inlay and onlay techniques. Patients should look for these specialist credentials rather than general dentists for the strongest bond strength.

Patient Consensus: Patients in Turkey report these restorations feel more stable than direct fillings for large cavities. Many chose onlays to fix teeth that had repeatedly failed with standard composite resin.
