Cagatay Saim Tezel, Thoracic surgeon

Prof. Cagatay Saim Tezel is a surgeon in thoracic surgery at Memorial Şişli Hospital. He is a member of the European Society of Thoracic Surgeons and the European Respiratory Society. Prof. Tezel completed clinical observerships at the Royal Brompton Hospital and Leicester University in the UK.

Specialization & Approach

Prof. Tezel treats a variety of chest diseases and thoracic conditions. He performs lung transplant procedures and was a member of the Süreyyapaşa Thoracic Surgery Transplant Team. He also performs surgical oncology to treat lung cancer. His approach combines clinical leadership with research into thoracic outcomes.

Prof. Tezel received third place in the Istanbul Medical Chamber Thesis Competition. He served as a thesis advisor for research on pulmonary ligament disruption. This study focused on functional and radiological outcomes in upper lobectomy patients. In 2001, he joined the editorial board of the Heybeliada Medical Bulletin.
