Dr Dariusz Uryszek is a highly experienced Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon specializing in shoulder, elbow, and upper limb surgery, with particular expertise in arthroscopic procedures, shoulder replacement surgery, and complex revision shoulder arthroplasty.
He graduated from the First Faculty of Medicine at the Medical University of Warsaw in 1986. From the beginning of his medical career, he trained and worked under the mentorship of Professor Artur Dziak, a renowned authority in orthopaedics and traumatology. His specialist training was further complemented by nearly two years of experience at the Oncology Centre in Warsaw, where he worked in the Department of Soft Tissue Tumours. He obtained his specialist certification in Orthopaedics and Traumatology in 1998.
A pioneer in advanced arthroscopic surgery, Dr. Uryszek was the first surgeon at the Department of Orthopaedics of the Second Faculty of Medicine in Warsaw to introduce wrist and elbow arthroscopy as routine clinical procedures in 1997. In 2003, he was among the first orthopaedic surgeons in Poland to present two-year clinical outcomes of patients treated for recurrent shoulder instability using exclusively arthroscopic techniques.
Between 2006 and 2017, Dr. Uryszek held senior consultant positions in the United Kingdom as a Consultant in Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgery, specializing in conditions affecting the shoulder, elbow, and hand. His subspecialty focuses on primary and revision shoulder replacement surgery, including the management of painful or failed shoulder prostheses.
While shoulder surgery remains his principal area of expertise, Dr. Uryszek’s experience extends to knee surgery and complex trauma surgery, including the treatment of fractures, dislocations, malunions, non-unions, and joint instability. He has performed more than 1,680 arthroscopic shoulder procedures and approximately 4,000 surgical operations throughout his career.
Committed to lifelong learning, Dr. Uryszek has completed 72 specialist courses and training programs in Poland and abroad. He is a member of the British Elbow and Shoulder Society (BESS), reflecting his long-standing commitment to excellence in upper limb surgery.
Over the last decade, Dr. Uryszek has consulted on approximately 17,000 patients, making him one of the most experienced specialists in the treatment of upper limb disorders. His clinical approach combines extensive surgical expertise with evidence-based medicine and individualized patient care, with the goal of restoring function, mobility, and quality of life.
In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Uryszek is actively involved in scientific research. In collaboration with the University of Warmia and Mazury, he is investigating the use of stem cell therapies in shoulder surgery and regenerative orthopaedics, contributing to the development of innovative treatment options for musculoskeletal disorders.
