Qualifications

OÄ Dr. med. Elli Katherina Greisenegger is a specialist in dermatology and venereology at JUVENIS Medical Center in central Vienna, and a senior physician at the University Clinic for Dermatology at the University Hospital St. Pölten, where she is medical director of the allergy outpatient clinic. She works across the full range of medical dermatology — skin cancer screening and surgery, allergy, eczema, acne, hair loss and skin infections — and consults in four languages.

Education and training Dr. Greisenegger studied medicine at the Medical University of Vienna from 1997 to 2004 and received her doctorate there in 2006, following dissertation research at the Department for Immunodermatology and Infectious Skin Diseases at the University Clinic for Dermatology. She completed her residency at the Kaiser-Franz-Josef Hospital and the Rudolfstiftung Hospital (2007–2009), and her full specialist training in dermatology and venereology at the University Clinic for Dermatology, Medical University of Vienna (2009–2014).

Career After qualifying as a specialist she practised at the Vienna health centre WGZ Süd (2014–2015) and at the Woman and Health clinic (2016–2017). Since 2016 she has been a senior physician at the University Clinic for Dermatology in St. Pölten and medical director of its allergy outpatient clinic. She also practised at Ärzte im Zentrum in St. Pölten (2018–2019). She first worked at JUVENIS as a locum in 2018 and has been a cooperating physician there since June 2020.

She additionally holds a diploma in medical genetics from the Austrian Medical Chamber, is a certified atopic dermatitis trainer (AGNES), and holds the Austrian Medical Chamber's continuing education diploma.

Clinical focus

  • Mole check and skin cancer screening — melanoma and non-melanoma skin cancer
  • Removal of moles, warts, lipomas and lesions suspicious for skin cancer
  • Allergy diagnosis and treatment — allergic hay fever, urticaria, contact eczema; prick testing, patch testing and specific immunotherapy
  • Atopic dermatitis — diagnosis and treatment
  • Acne, acne rosacea and hidradenitis suppurativa
  • Hair loss and pigmentation disorders
  • Skin and nail fungal infections

Allergy care Alongside her work at JUVENIS, Dr. Greisenegger is medical director of a hospital allergy outpatient clinic. Allergic skin disease is often where dermatology and allergy meet — contact eczema, hives and atopic dermatitis can all have an allergic trigger — and identifying that trigger through prick and patch testing is what makes targeted treatment, including desensitisation, possible.

Languages Dr. Greisenegger treats patients in German, English, French and Greek.

Her approach In her own words, attractiveness means "humour and vitality combined with intelligence, warmth and composure — and something inexplicable that defines the person."
