Additional information
Sheba Pediatric CAR-T Program for Leukemia (ALL & CLL)
At Sheba Medical Center, children and young patients with leukemia have access to one of the most advanced and trusted CAR-T therapy programs in the world. The program specializes in treating acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) and chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) including relapsed or treatment-resistant cases using highly personalized immunotherapy.
A Personalized Treatment Designed for Each Patient
CAR-T therapy uses the patient’s own immune system to recognize and destroy leukemia cells. This approach is especially important for patients who have not responded to standard treatments.
At Sheba, the entire process is performed on-site, ensuring speed and optimal quality:
Apheresis – collection of immune (T) cells
Cell Engineering – genetic modification at Sheba’s Advanced Biotherapy Center
Infusion – reintroduction of modified cells to target leukemia
Because no steps are outsourced, treatment can begin quickly and is typically completed within ~10 days. CAR-T acts as a “living therapy,” continuing to work in the body over time.
Expert Care in a Supportive Environment
Patients are treated by leading hemato-oncology specialists, under the supervision of Prof. Amos Toren, within dedicated CAR-T units.
The program provides:
Specialized pediatric and young adult CAR-T care with 24/7 monitoring
A multidisciplinary team (hematology, oncology, immunology)
A supportive, patient- and family-centered environment
Full international patient services, including travel and care coordination
Proven Outcomes and Global Leadership
Sheba is a global leader in CAR-T therapy, with strong clinical outcomes:
~90% remission in pediatric patients
~80% in young adults (up to 23 years)
~70% in adults
The program is experienced in treating complex and high-risk leukemia cases, offering options when other treatments are limited.
Comprehensive Evaluation and Ongoing Support
Each patient undergoes a full diagnostic work-up, including:
advanced imaging, bone marrow biopsy, genetic and molecular testing, as well as cardiac and pulmonary evaluation.
Care is provided in English, Russian, and Arabic, ensuring clear communication and continuous support for international families.
A Place Patients and Families Can Trust
By combining advanced science, rapid access to treatment, and compassionate care, Sheba offers one of the most trusted CAR-T programs for leukemia—focused on achieving remission and helping patients return to a healthy, active life.
