I want to sincerely thank Winnington at Bookimed for the exceptional support he provided during my dental treatment (4 implants) journey in Istanbul. What truly stood out was how Winnington completely transformed a very stressful situation into a successful and fully satisfying experience. I only had a 3-day stay in Istanbul after a long 9.5 hrs flight from Canada, initially I had an appointment arranged with another clinic that I honestly did not feel comfortable moving forward with. At that point, the situation became very stressful because of the limited time I had available and the fear of wasting the entire trip without receiving the treatment I urgently needed. This is where Winnington went far above and beyond. Understanding the urgency and pressure I was under, he acted incredibly fast and managed to arrange a new appointment for me with Memorial Hospital on extremely short notice. Thanks entirely to his efforts, coordination, and persistence, I was able to secure an appointment almost immediately despite the tight timeline. That single action completely changed the outcome of my trip. The experience at Memorial Hospital was outstanding from start to finish, I left extremely satisfied with both the care and the results. Throughout the entire process, Winnington stayed in constant communication, followed up regularly, helped clarify pricing and logistics, handled concerns professionally, and genuinely made me feel supported during a very stressful moment. What impressed me most was not only his professionalism, but his ability to deliver solutions under pressure and truly advocate for the patient. Without his quick actions and dedication, my trip could have easily turned into a disappointing experience. I highly recommend Bookimed (big shout out to Winnington) to anyone considering medical treatment abroad. His support, responsiveness, and commitment made all the difference for me, and I am sincerely grateful for everything he did.

Strange as it may sound, my overall rating is zero. That said, I can’t say a single bad word about either the surgeon or the clinic staff. They all deserve top marks. The doctor was very attentive and professional, and the support team did everything they could to help. The problem isn’t with the people. The problem is that the outcome of the consultation and what followed completely overshadowed all the positive impressions, leaving me in a very difficult situation during the recovery phase. The service was good, but the result was not.

Before the operation, I was most worried about a possible difference in leg length, but now they feel exactly the same. The operation was performed via an anterior approach using a Stryker implant. A huge thank you to the wonderful doctor, Professor Olcay Güler. He is always positive, a pleasure to talk to, and uses modern techniques as well as robotic surgery for procedures like this. Direct anterior access is the best option for those who want a faster and better recovery, and there are very few specialists who use this modern method. On the 7th day after the operation, I had already started walking without crutches, even though I hadn’t rushed my recovery; the doctors do recommend walking with crutches for two weeks. Thanks to the successful operation, I started walking without a limp almost as soon as I tried doing so without crutches. I should note that I deliberately didn’t walk with just one crutch; I used both, but walked with them using the Nordic walking technique with poles. I think this also helped me avoid limping straight away. If anyone needs joint replacement surgery, I highly recommend Professor Olcay Güler and the Memorial Şişli Clinic; a good doctor is the key to a successful return to normal life. And of course, a huge thank you to the Bookimed team and personally to coordinator Sergey, who patiently selected the clinic and doctor for me! In the early stages of recovery, the hardest thing for me is getting in and out of the car. A tip for future patients: prepare comfortable trousers without elastic at the bottom in advance, slip-on shoes, and a special device for putting on compression garments and socks – a butler or glider – will also come in very handy, but only if you’re doing everything without assistance.

If a friend asked about robotic knee replacement, I'd start with this: understand your whole body's situation first. For me, I’ve realized I need both hips revision, not just the knee, and that has a big impact on my overall progress. The clinic facilities and the general staff were solid. They were helpful. My main challenge is currently my walking distance. While the staff were supportive, my interactions with the surgeon felt a bit lacking, and I think that aspect could have been better. It’s a serious process with many moving parts to consider.

My biggest concern was the procedure itself and the potential side effects. Fortunately, the surgeon and the medical team were brilliant and explained everything to me, which put me at ease. It has now been 15 days since my umbilical cord stem cell treatment. To be honest, I haven’t noticed any changes yet, which is to be expected at this early stage. There is still some pain when I touch the injection site. I’ve been sticking to the post-treatment restrictions most of the time, and the clinic itself was good but not entirely modern, which is why I’ve given it four stars. Overall, it was a good experience and now I just need to be patient.

What I would say to a friend considering this procedure is to make sure they have a thorough blood test beforehand. As for me, everything was very straightforward. The surgeon gave me a very clear explanation of the glands that needed to be treated, which put me at ease. The good news came quickly: the results showed that my calcium levels were slightly low but did not require surgery at this stage. I was given basic instructions for the next steps. Regarding my concerns about bone density, we decided that this is something to monitor later, which makes sense at this stage. I will come for a check-up in six months

Being asked to pay extra costs at the last minute was deeply frustrating, souring the entire process. The surgeon was fantastic, and the clinic staff were good. The results speak for themselves; 15 days out, my chest width has perfect proportions and there’s great muscle separation with the medium Polytech implants. But the financial surprise was a significant issue. My advice is this: If you have fat in the chest area and are getting pectoral implants, ensure that gynaecomastia fat removal is negotiated in your final price! You can’t just add an implant without removing excess fat. Confirm with your consultant that this is included, because I did this and was still asked to pay more last minute. Also, the accommodations that they put you in are claimed to be prestige accommodations. The first few days two nights that I arrived. I was put in the most dreadful hotel room that you could ever imagine. I was also informed where I was staying at the very last minute I would advise that you get confirmation of where your accommodations will be and do your research far in advance to ensure that you’ll be staying somewhere acceptable I had to be moved to a new hotel room after completing for days while being ghosted - then the day of my surgery after being operated on I was told to bring my luggage to the hospital and had to check into a new hotel room post Surgery in pain and out of it. Also make sure that whoever your consultant is is readily available to attend to any issues I was ghosted for 48 hours by mine. She had a personal incident in her defence, however, if you’re in a foreign country by yourself, there should be someone to attend to you 24 hours a day regardless of personal incidents time or day somebody should’ve been available as a backup. In summary, it’s very important to make sure exactly what is covered and what is not I was told that everything would be covered except for my flight one in fact, all that was covered was the surgery breakfast hotel accommodations, which were originally terrible and transportation back-and-forth to hospital airport and follow up appointments. In reality, only breakfast was covered. You had to get your own lunch and dinner. Any medications that are prescribed post surgery, including compression vests, or any extra costs are to be covered by the patient and only told at the last minute. It is not in fact, all inclusive. It’s all inclusive in hotel, including breakfast and transportation. Everything else is on you to cover yourself.

I loved the doctor and the translator that I dealt with - Memorial Hospital is exceptional. Very clean and prestigious. Feeling definitely felt like I was in the right place, especially considering I live in Canada and our healthcare is free but very safe.

Don’t be fooled into being told that you’re going to be put in luxury accommodations. Do your research ask what hotel you were going to be accommodated in long before your arrival and READ the reviews. I was told at the very last minute where I was staying, and it ended up being one of the most dreadful hotel rooms. I have ever set foot in in my entire life. In addition at the last minute as I was about to board my flight to come to Istanbul, I was informed of extra costs for fat removal in my procedure, which had already been negotiated months prior. Not a very good situation to inform a patient of extra costs at the last minute literally before boarding my flight to come there. I proceeded to board and figured that this would’ve been resolved by the time I landed only to arrive the day of my surgery and be asked once again for these extra costs to be paid. This was a terrible and horrible experience not something anybody wants to go through minutes before they’re about to be taken into the operating room. Definitely left a bitter taste in my mouth. The only thing that I can say that was wonderful and positive about this experience was the doctor. He was phenomenal. The translator that dealt with me. She was also phenomenal, but the communication with this organization throughout all of these issues and problems was terrible at one point I was ghosted for 48 hours with no responses from the team as to how to proceed with this whole extra cost situation.

Starting from the beginning. My international coordinator maurice did an amazing job in getting me the best doctor i needed for my procedure. Traveling to turkey 🇹🇷 was an incredible experience very excited. At memorial sisli hospital my local coordinator fatiha was very forthcoming with all the details, took care of everything. Then my translators Mohamed and beyza also very helpful and professionals great job helping me understand exactly what was being said. Last but not least. The most important part of the experience. Doctor.. Mustafa akarcay. He is the one that made this journey an amazing, wonderful, magnificent adventure. The doctor is top notch, did a wonderful job. Thak y you doctor Mustafa again am so happy with the results. Will recommend him to anyone who is considering plastic surgeron in Istanbul or anywhere in the world. Blessed and happy . In July 2022, she had a consultation, examination and surgery at the Memorial Clinic. I thank the staff of the clinic, Professor Ilknur Bayraktar and, of course, the Bukmed team represented by Maria and translator Gulzar for their professionalism. Everything went smoothly. Chambers at the level of 5 star hotels. 3 meals a day, comfortable bed, free Wi-Fi, TV, nurse and nurses are very attentive.
