Prof. Amos Toren, MD, PhD, MHA, is a pediatric hemato-oncologist and BMT specialist. He served as Director of Pediatric Hemato-Oncology and BMT at Sheba Medical Center.
He is board certified in Pediatrics, Pediatric Hemato-Oncology, and Bone Marrow Transplantation. He holds a PhD in Human Genetics. He was Head of the Hematology Division at Tel Aviv University for two terms. He is a member of ASH, COG, ESPHI, EBMT, and CIBMTR. He also serves on the Ministry of Health Cord Blood Committee.
He led one of Israel’s most advanced pediatric oncology and BMT programs. The program treated children and young adults. His focus includes leukemia and lymphoma, immunodeficiencies, and rare cancers. He specializes in BMT and CAR T-cell therapy.
His translational research covers CAR T cells, cytokine-induced killer cells, pediatric brain tumors, and targeted therapies. He has worked with St. Anna, the NIH, and St. Jude. His publications include studies on pediatric SCT prophylaxis and PARP resistance.
The doctor is an experienced specialist in Bone Marrow Transplantation, having graduated from the Hebrew University Medical School in 1999. Following this, the doctor specialized in internal medicine at Hadassah Medical Center. The doctor later joined the Bone Marrow Transplantation department at Hadassah as a senior physician, contributing significant expertise to the field.
The doctor is a leading expert in pediatric hematology and oncology, specializing in blood disorders and bone cancer (sarcoma) in children. Currently, the doctor serves as the director of the children's hematology oncology department at Sourasky Medical Center in Tel Aviv and is a senior pediatrician at Dana Children's Hospital. The doctor coordinates treatment for bone cancer and soft tissue sarcoma, manages blood coagulation disorders, and oversees hematology in preterm infants. The doctor is a member of the Israel Pediatric Hemato-Oncology Association (ISPHO).
The doctor graduated from Ben-Gurion University and specialized in pediatric medicine at Kaplan Medical Center, with further specialization in pediatric hematology and oncology at Schneider Children's Medical Center. Additional training was completed in oncology bone and soft tissue at Rizzoli Orthopaedic Institute in Italy.
