All expectations were more than met
We chose Hinzentrum Klinikum Kotowice - we have never regretted our choice. From the moment we met the coordinator to the last visit to the clinic, all the steps came without any obstacles or disappointments. The coordinator Vera is a wonderful, responsive person, never left without attention, was in touch in case of any need. The visit and acquaintance with the doctor, Vera was organised taking into account all our wishes. We had an interpreter waiting for us at the clinic - Alona. She accompanied us at every visit to the clinic, so there were no problems with communication. We had the opportunity to ask her for help at any time. The clinic staff is generally pleasant and smiling. Alicia Gajevska-Kuharek is a doctor who knows what she is doing, is open to dialogue, answers all our questions and is completely trustworthy. In general, all stages of the protocol were organised in a timely manner, quickly, all information was available and most importantly, all our questions were answered. All expectations were more than met.
Accessibility of staff.
It's okay.

Good afternoon, I would like to share my story of my trip to the Hyncentrum Katowice clinic. We decided to cooperate with Bookimed and we were provided with a medical coordinator Vera, who suggested this clinic as one of the best. Initially everything went well, everything was clear and understandable, we submitted our analyses and made an appointment for a consultation with a doctor with an interpreter, the coordinator sent us the address of the clinic in Krakow and confirmed our appointment. The journey was not easy and long awaited, we travelled through 3 countries to get to Krakow. We come to the appointed date and time, and we are told that the doctor does not receive in Krakow, he works in Katowice and now waiting for us there, which is an hour's drive and we have no time. And we made an appointment a month before the trip. We contacted the coordinator Wera and asked why this happened and what to do, she said that there was a mistake with the address and the city, she was not informed about the city where the doctor was working. Vera started to contact the clinic in Katowice to re-book us, but there was no answer from there and we asked the reception to help us, to call the clinic and explain the situation, but because of the language barrier, the girl could not understand our situation and said to wait for an interpreter, in a short time the interpreter Lilia appeared and she was able to solve our problem by calling the clinic and re-booking us for the next day, we were very grateful to her! She supported us and calmed us down. Of course it was not pleasant, I was very nervous, as we had a long journey and because of someone else's mistake, we could not get to the appointment, and just leave with nothing. It was good that everything was solved and we had an appointment for the next day. When we arrived in Katowice we were met by the interpreter Alyona, we signed all the documents and the doctor took us in, the consultation with ultrasound took 30 minutes. Alyona translated everything, the doctor said little, in fact, after I went to prepare for the ultrasound, I was sent to a room with a toilet and told to come out and sit on the chair, I saw that the nappy was used, crumpled, torn, not replaced after the previous patient, I asked Alyona to change it, the answer was that they change it after each patient and it is clean. In the preparation room, there was no couch, no chair, no liquid soap to wash my hands, the atmosphere is clearly not the best clinic, I changed my clothes standing up. When I came out, I saw that the napkin on the chair was changed after my words. The doctor gave me an ultrasound without gloves and it lasted 1-2 minutes, all very quickly, the conclusion of the ultrasound on my hands I was not given. Afterwards we were already talking with our interpreter in the corridor and it turned out that there is such a service as online consultation and we could not travel 3500 km for the sake of a 30 minute appointment, which should have been reported to our coordinator with Bookimed. In the end, our expectations were not met, the clinic did not impress us, the coordinator's mistake made us nervous, and the fact that we could have ordered an online consultation and not spent a lot of money on travelling was very upsetting. But in spite of everything, we do not give up, we will continue to move towards our goal, the coordinator was changed and now we are considering other clinics!

Good day. I liked everything. Fast and affordable. The girl liked the doctor and our guide very much. We are only interested in a positive end result! A good relationship for good money is great, but I repeat once again that we applied for the result, and I hope it will please us. We were not in the wards, as the trip was one day
About Bookimed service
Everything is fine. One thing we didn't like was when we came with my husband, we stood for a while until the third time the girl from the reception took the time to pay attention to what a person wants to ask and hear the answer. It was ignored. This is one thing that I did not like at all!!!!

FAQ about Egg Cryopreservation Annual Maintenance in Poland

These FAQs come from real patients seeking medical assistance through Bookimed. Answers are given by experienced medical coordinators and trusted clinic representatives.

Is annual maintenance of frozen eggs in Poland safe, and what medical standards are followed?

Annual maintenance of frozen eggs in Poland is highly safe due to strict compliance with EU Directives and the 2015 Act on Infertility Treatment. Facilities utilize 24-hour alarm systems and liquid nitrogen sensors to maintain a constant temperature of -196°C, preventing egg quality degradation.

  • EU compliance: Clinics strictly follow EU Directive 2004/23/EC mandating Good Manufacturing Practice standards.
  • Storage safety: Automated sensors monitor liquid nitrogen levels and specialized tanks prevent ice crystal formation.
  • Clinic accreditation: Top facilities hold TÜV certification and ISO International Standards for biological safety.
  • Expert monitoring: Certified embryologists conduct quarterly audits and regular checks of all storage banks.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Poland offers a rare combination of high-tier safety and significant value. Leading networks like Gyncentrum Fertility Clinic manage over 1,200 patients annually with ISO-certified protocols. While maintenance costs are approximately 33% lower than in the US, the technology used remains identical to top German clinics.

Patient Consensus: Patients emphasize checking for ESHRE and EQAS certifications before starting long-term storage. Most feel confident in the reliability of Polish banks, highlighting that annual fees remain stable over time.

What annual documents or consents do I have to sign to keep eggs stored in Poland?

To keep eggs stored in Poland, you must sign an annual storage renewal consent and a declaration of intent. These documents confirm your wish to continue cryopreservation. Pay the yearly maintenance fee between $400 and $700 to maintain your legal contract with the clinic.

  • Storage renewal consent: Annual document confirming you want the clinic to maintain your frozen gametes.
  • Declaration of intent: Specifies if eggs should be discarded or donated upon death or incapacity.
  • RoDO consent: Periodic renewal of data processing permissions required under Polish and European law.
  • Financial confirmation: Payment of the maintenance invoice often acts as a formal contract extension.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Polish clinics prioritize clear documentation over complex bureaucracy. Most centers now offer digital signatures for storage renewals. This helps international patients avoid yearly travel. Always update your contact details annually. Clinics may consider non-responsive accounts as a withdrawal of consent. This could lead to the disposal of stored eggs.

Patient Consensus: Patients find the process surprisingly simple compared to the initial freezing. Most appreciate the clear electronic reminders sent weeks before deadlines.

How long can eggs legally remain frozen in Poland, and does yearly maintenance affect that limit?

Polish law allows eggs to remain frozen indefinitely with no strict statutory expiration date. While embryos face a 20-year storage cap before donation, eggs follow civil contracts. Annual maintenance fees are mandatory but serve only to cover storage costs, not to extend a legal deadline.

  • Storage duration: Polish regulations permit indefinite egg storage under current private contract law.
  • Maintenance impact: Yearly fees fund nitrogen replenishment and monitoring without altering legal limits.
  • Payment failure: Stopping annual payments generally results in the disposal of cryopreserved materials.
  • Clinical oversight: Facilities like Gyncentrum Fertility Clinic follow ISO and TÜV safety standards.

Bookimed Expert Insight: While many countries impose 10-year limits, Poland serves as a long-term hub. Gyncentrum Fertility Clinic serves 1,200 annual patients and manages its own international egg bank. This infrastructure suggests high stability for patients seeking storage durations exceeding a decade.

Patient Consensus: Patients value the indefinite storage options which provide more flexibility than UK or Asian regulations. Most emphasize the need to clarify contract terms regarding long-term ownership before beginning the process.

What exactly is checked during the annual technical maintenance of my frozen eggs?

Annual technical maintenance of frozen eggs ensures long-term viability by verifying storage tank integrity, monitoring systems, and sample inventory. Technicians at Polish clinics inspect vacuum dewars for frosting, calibrate 24/7 temperature alarms, and perform rigorous audits of liquid nitrogen levels to maintain a constant environment of -196 degrees Celsius.

  • Storage integrity: Technicians inspect dewars for vacuum failure, external frost, or structural damage.
  • Nitrogen monitoring: Labs review nitrogen usage logs and test automatic refill systems for failures.
  • Alarm calibration: Backup power and remote notification systems undergo performance testing for reliability.
  • Inventory audit: Staff perform physical reconciliation to match each sample with electronic records.
  • Regulatory compliance: Facilities verify labeling legibility and follow European Society of Human Reproduction and Embryology guidelines.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Quality signals in Poland are exceptionally strong due to clinics like Gyncentrum Fertility Clinic undergoing independent checks by TÜV and maintaining ISO standards. Higher-tier centers often use redundant alarm call-out trees that contact staff sequentially. This level of technical oversight is why Poland ranks as the second most requested destination for cryopreservation maintenance globally.

Patient Consensus: Patients emphasize that fees often include insurance against tank failure. Many suggest requesting specific maintenance reports, such as temperature logs and nitrogen records, before paying annual storage invoices.

Do I have to travel to Poland every year, or can maintenance be handled remotely?

You do not need to travel to Poland every year for egg cryopreservation maintenance. Most clinics allow remote storage contract renewals and payment of annual fees via online portals. Annual maintenance usually costs $400 to $700, offering significant savings compared to US average prices of $900.

  • Storage contracts: Renew agreements electronically via secure portals or email.
  • Payment methods: Clinics accept international bank transfers and online card payments.
  • Initial visit: First-year storage usually requires in-person ultrasounds and bloodwork.
  • Remote monitoring: Local GP results are often accepted for follow-up health checks.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Quality signals in Poland are exceptionally high relative to cost. Gyncentrum Fertility Clinic holds TÜV and ISO certifications, marking it among Europe's most regulated facilities. Patients choosing Katowice often save 33% compared to US long-term storage while accessing the same cryopreservation technology used in state-funded Polish IVF programs.

Patient Consensus: Many patients successfully use local lab results to satisfy health monitoring requirements. They recommend confirming remote flexibility in writing before the initial freezing to ensure future travel is optional.

What happens if I forget to pay the annual maintenance fee or miss the document deadline?

Missing your egg cryopreservation maintenance fee in Poland can lead to the destruction of biological samples. Clinics may treat eggs as unclaimed under Polish law if deadlines pass. Most facilities provide a short grace period of only 30 to 60 days before terminating storage contracts permanently.

  • Storage termination: Clinics may discard frozen eggs after missed payments or expired documentation.
  • Grace periods: Polish facilities often offer shorter windows than the 6 months common elsewhere.
  • Legal status: Unpaid samples are eventually categorized as abandoned under national fertility regulations.
  • Documentation renewal: Missing mandatory consent updates can trigger sample disposal even if fees are paid.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Don't rely on clinic reminders. Our data shows Gyncentrum Fertility Clinic and others handle 1,200+ patients annually. High volumes mean manual tracking is rare. With annual fees between $400 and $700, some patients overlook the bill. Set reminders 3 months early. Always verify documentation and payment deadlines separately to ensure sample safety.

Patient Consensus: Many warn that clinics might destroy eggs with very little notice. Keep your contact details updated to prevent missing these critical, final warnings.

Will annual freezing maintenance harm egg quality; are survival rates affected over many years?

Extended storage through annual maintenance does not harm egg quality or reduce survival rates. Modern vitrification freezes eggs instantly at -196°C, preventing ice crystal damage. This biological pause preserves the eggs indefinitely, maintaining the same quality as the day they were retrieved.

  • Survival rates: Approximately 90–97% of vitrified eggs survive the warming process successfully.
  • Biological age: Eggs remain at the retrieval age regardless of storage duration.
  • Storage safety: Clinics use 24/7 monitoring systems to prevent liquid nitrogen fluctuations.
  • Success markers: Birth defect risks do not increase with long-term cryopreservation storage.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Poland clinics like Gyncentrum Fertility Clinic maintain specialized egg banks with ISO-standard quality controls. Data shows that maintenance costs in Poland are 33% lower than US averages. Successful thaws after 10 years are now common due to consistent vitrification protocols. The primary success factor remains the age at retrieval rather than storage years.

Patient Consensus: Patients reporting thaws after 5 to 9 years confirm survival rates often reach 100%. Most emphasize that regular annual fees are a small price for long-term peace of mind.
