"I am very happy for getting to know BOOKIMED, professionals really work there, and most importantly, they are not indifferent people
I have breast cancer and I went through chemotherapy in Moscow. Six sessions have passed. It was very difficult to tolerate these procedures. A doctor in Kazakhstan said that this is enough, it is necessary to switch to tableted chemistry. And Moscow offered to continue doing chemotherapy. Opinions are divided. It was necessary to find a third party. I accidentally found your site on the Internet. Ekaterina Koliko wrote very quickly. The benevolence of Katyusha was immediately arranged towards her. She asked me what I would like to go to. I said that I want to go to the Severance clinic in Korea. Katyusha approved my choice. I sent all the necessary documents and Katyusha quickly redirected everything to the clinic. They began to wait for the invitation. For some reason (and for what I already knew in the clinic), there was no invitation. I am very grateful to Katyusha that she was in touch all the time, supported me, gave me hope. We arrived in Seoul in the morning, we were met by a transfer, brought to the hotel. After lunch, they were already in the clinic, I began to take tests. Constantly with me was one of the translators. Girls translators are great fellows, these are Lida, Olesya, Sofia, Tatyana, Alena. Any question could be addressed, they always prompted. They are professionals. Always with a smile, polite, with enormous patience, and most importantly, they understand that they work with a special audience, with people who did not come to rest. Someone to find out the diagnosis, and someone to do the operation. Thank you so much to the girls. The clinic was impressive. Doctors are professionals. The equipment is super. I got the opinion of a third party, it coincided with the opinion of a doctor from Kazakhstan. I was prescribed a prescription, I bought medicines at the pharmacy and started drinking on arrival home. I also want to write about Darina, who was engaged in transfer (the transfer to the clinic was very convenient and met and carried out), the selection of the hotel was also always in touch, and if I had any questions, she quickly answered them. I want to say that I am very happy for getting to know BOOKIMED, professionals really work there, and most importantly, they are not indifferent people. I am grateful to the Almighty and all who were near me. And the words of the doctor gave me inspiration and inspired great hope, for the sake of these words it was worth a long way to go. Once again, many thanks to all.

My recommendations to friends, acquaintances only this Clinic! The prices are reasonable
Good day! I would like to share my impressions of being in the clinic. Thanks to the coordinators, the staff of the international clinic center, all wishes were taken into account. Special thanks to the attending physician, the procedure was perfect, the staff is very attentive, courteous. They are located in a 5-bed room, but at the same time there is no discomfort, food can be chosen taking into account personal taste preferences (Korean, European cuisine) and at the same time satisfying and varied. I can say one thing, there is no limit to my gratitude, my recommendations to friends, acquaintances only this Clinic! The prices are reasonable.

"The results were unbelievably positive!"
The staff is nice, but everything is on stream, as it does not take my problem seriously, as much as I would like! After my husband insistently said that it would be necessary to do so, so this, then after that we were heard.

FAQ about Cryodestruction in Republic of Korea

These FAQs come from real patients seeking medical assistance through Bookimed. Answers are given by experienced medical coordinators and trusted clinic representatives.

What are the primary medical uses for cryodestruction in Korea?

Cryodestruction in Korea primary serves clinical dermatology for viral warts and seborrheic keratosis, as well as advanced oncology. Leading institutions like Asan Medical Center utilize cryoablation for kidney and prostate cancers. It also plays a critical role in post-surgical rehabilitation and aesthetic skin resurfacing.

  • Dermatological care: Treating viral warts, skin tags, and actinic keratosis at 2-3 week intervals.
  • Oncology applications: Focal cryoablation for localized kidney or prostate tumors in high-volume surgical centers.
  • Post-operative recovery: Standard cryotherapy protocols following total knee arthroplasty to minimize inflammation and edema.
  • Aesthetic medicine: Cryo-electrophoresis for soothing skin and reducing swelling after aggressive laser therapy sessions.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Korean medical centers like Asan Medical Center integrate cryodestruction into complex multidisciplinary care. They perform over 65,000 operations annually with high success rates. Patients often choose Korea for cryoablation when seeking nephron-sparing treatments that avoid full organ removal.

Patient Consensus: Many patients recommend requesting numbing cream before treating warts on sensitive areas. Most experience 1-2 weeks of crusting and emphasize using high-SPF sunscreen to prevent post-treatment pigmentation.

What should I expect during a cryodestruction session?

Cryodestruction in the Republic of Korea is a rapid outpatient procedure using extreme cold to destroy abnormal tissue. Expect a 15-30 minute session where surgeons apply liquid nitrogen via sprays or probes for 10-30 seconds per lesion, often involving multiple freeze-thaw cycles for depth.

  • Application technique: Doctors use specialized sprays or probes reaching minus 196 degrees Celsius.
  • Treatment sensation: Patients typically feel intense cold followed by sharp stinging or burning.
  • Anesthesia options: Sensitive areas may require local anesthetic creams or injections before starting.
  • Recovery phase: Treated spots form blisters within 24 hours and scabs within 1 week.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Leading Seoul facilities like Asan Medical Center manage over 11,000 outpatients daily. This high volume means clinicians are exceptionally fast at identifying depth. While many clinics offer single sessions, deeper lesions often require 2-3 freeze cycles in one appointment for effectiveness.

Patient Consensus: Patients describe the sensation as a bee sting on steroids. Most advise taking over-the-counter pain relief 30 minutes prior and strictly avoiding picking at blisters to prevent scarring.

Is there any downtime after the procedure?

Cryodestruction in the Republic of Korea typically involves minimal physical downtime, with most patients returning to light desk work within 24 hours. While immediate recovery is fast, full skin healing and the resolution of visible crusting generally take 7 to 14 days depending on the treatment depth.

  • Immediate return: Most patients resume non-strenuous professional activities the same day or next day.
  • Physical activity: Surgeons advise pausing heavy exercise, swimming, and gym routines for 1–2 weeks.
  • Visible healing: Expect redness and swelling for 48 hours, followed by crusting for 1 week.
  • Environmental restrictions: Avoid Korean saunas, steam rooms, and hot baths for at least 2 weeks.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Data from top-tier Seoul centers like Asan Medical Center shows that recovery timelines vary significantly by lesion depth. For deep cryodestruction, healing takes longer than standard surface treatments. Patients should schedule procedures during drier months, as Korea’s high-humidity monsoon season can increase localized infection risks.

Patient Consensus: Patients emphasize protecting the treated area from heat and sunlight religiously. Many warn not to pick at crusts that form by day 3 to avoid scarring, suggesting antibiotic ointment helps management.

Are there specific clinics in Seoul known for this treatment?

Leading university hospitals in Seoul like Asan Medical Center and Samsung Medical Center are the primary providers for medical-grade cryodestruction. These institutions utilize advanced cryogenic agents to treat oncological lesions and dermatological conditions within JCI-accredited and Newsweek-ranked facilities throughout the Gangnam and Songpa districts.

  • Asan Medical Center: Ranked globally by Newsweek, treating over 182,000 patients annually with advanced digital imaging.
  • Samsung Medical Center: Known for its Comprehensive Cancer Center and sophisticated medical-grade cryogenic specialized protocols.
  • Gangnam Severance Hospital: A JCI-accredited facility providing complex dermatological and oncological care in southern Seoul.
  • Medical-grade equipment: These centers use professional liquid nitrogen systems rather than basic cosmetic-grade tools.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Data shows a clear distinction between Seoul's aesthetic clinics and multidisciplinary hospitals for this procedure. While Myeongdong clinics focus on `K-Beauty` lasers, patients seeking cryodestruction for complex lesions should target university-affiliated hospitals. Asan Medical Center alone manages 2,705 beds, ensuring a level of complication management and follow-up care that smaller boutique clinics cannot match.

Patient Consensus: Patients emphasize the importance of verifying the specific cryogenic agent used. They recommend choosing hospital-based dermatology departments over cosmetic centers for more reliable clinical results and thorough aftercare.

Why is South Korea a popular destination for this procedure?

South Korea is a leading hub for cryodestruction due to its integration of advanced nitrogen probe technology and specialized dermatological expertise. Patients benefit from rapid healing times and precision treatments for skin lesions, keloids, and acne scars at JCI-accredited facilities in Seoul.

  • Technological edge: Clinics use fine nitrogen probes and CryoPen technology to minimize healthy tissue damage.
  • Combined therapies: Surgeons often pair cryodestruction with PDO threads or lasers for superior scar flattening.
  • Rapid recovery: Innovative protocols allow treated areas to heal in days rather than several weeks.
  • Standardized quality: Facilities like Gangnam Severance Hospital maintain rigorous safety through KOIHA and JCI accreditations.

Bookimed Expert Insight: High-volume centers like Asan Medical Center, which serves over 11,000 outpatients daily, offer unmatched clinical experience. Data shows that Korean clinics often bundle cryotherapy with LED recovery light sessions. This addition significantly reduces post-procedure redness and is typically included at no extra cost.

Patient Consensus: Many find the procedure nearly painless with excellent cosmetic results. Visitors appreciate the seamless experience provided by English-speaking staff and the convenience of hotel tie-ins for recovery.
