A city tells you how you will travel and where you will recover, but not how your twelve-step program will go. Surgeons and clinics in the same city differ in experience and in how they handle aftercare, so choosing them matters just as much as choosing the city.
You can usually fly home 28–30 days after completing your residential stay and discharge planning, with your doctor's approval. You may return to work within 0–14 days after discharge, with a gradual return based on job stress and your aftercare plan. Light exercise can usually resume within 0–1 week after discharge, and light activity may be part of your program. Early recovery often stabilizes over 3–12 months, depending on aftercare, meeting attendance, and sponsor support.
You’ll settle in, learn the program, and start meeting the Steps through group therapy. Avoid substances, and expect limited phone and visitor contact while you adjust.
You’ll attend daily group and individual therapy, education sessions, and Step work, including an inventory, a personal review. Avoid substances and follow the program schedule.
You’ll focus on preventing relapse and planning aftercare, including links to home meetings and a sponsor. Continue avoiding substances as you prepare for discharge.
You can continue recovery through regular fellowship meetings and aftercare, including AA or NA meetings for structured peer support. Avoid alcohol, drugs, and high-risk triggers early on. If needed, a review 30–90 days after discharge can assess relapse risk and your aftercare plan. You can usually fly home 28–30 days after completing your residential stay and discharge planning, with your doctor's approval.
When to contact your clinic: Seek emergency help for hallucinations, severe tremors, or seizures. For chest pain or sudden breathlessness after a long flight, seek emergency help locally.

Most tourists choose 4 and 5 star hotels with all-inclusive meals. Such hotels have everything for a comfortable stay: varied food, a large well-groomed territory, animation for children and adults. Some hotels have their own water park, which guests can use for free. Budget travelers can afford to book an economical 3-star hotel with half board or no meals at all.
