How it works

Bookimed is free for patients – clinics pay us a commission, and you pay the clinic its own price with no markup. Five steps to your alcohol rehabilitation in Thailand:

  1. Share your case

Tell us about your alcohol use and share your recent blood test results.

  2. Get treatment plans

Your coordinator finds clinics that match your needs and helps you choose. Your preferred clinics then send personalized treatment plans and quotes for you to compare.

  3. Plan your trip

We set treatment dates that work for you and help arrange your flights and accommodation. If needed, we request a visa support letter from the clinic.

  4. Visit the clinic

The clinic team starts your alcohol rehabilitation on the agreed dates. We support you throughout your trip.

  5. Back home

You fly home after a stay of 4 weeks, with abstinence gains building over 3–12 months. Your coordinator stays in touch and helps arrange a follow-up if you need one.

Some clinics ask for a deposit. A $200 or €200 deposit paid through Bookimed comes off your clinic bill and is refundable up to 10 calendar days before your visit. A deposit paid to the clinic follows its own terms.

How to choose a Alcohol Rehabilitation clinic in Thailand

For alcohol rehabilitation in Thailand, first narrow clinics by location, then compare treatment teams and clinic standards, and finally read patient reviews before booking.

What to check

  • Narrow by location

Bookimed lists 8 clinics for alcohol rehabilitation in Thailand – top-ranked options are in Chiang Mai, Bangkok, and Koh Chang, helping you decide where to compare.
  • Choose the provider

Request a consultation to discuss treatment and questions – confirm the person you meet will provide your needed approach, not assistants. Top-ranked clinics have operated for a median of 25 years.
  • Assess the setting

Ask about team qualifications and training, whether the clinician is licensed by the Medical Council of Thailand, and clinic standards – Bookimed's top-ranked clinics include 4 with JCI accreditation.
  • Read patient reviews

Look beyond the score at comments on the clinician, care, and trip – review before-and-after results from similar cases by the same surgeon, if available.

Where to get a Alcohol Rehabilitation in Thailand

Chiang Mai has the widest clinic choice for alcohol rehabilitation in Thailand, with 12-step, CBT, and EMDR approaches. Bangkok may suit patients seeking a capital-city medical setting, and Suvarnabhumi Airport is about 30 km from the city center, helping with arrival planning.

A city tells you how you will travel and where you will recover, but not how your alcohol rehabilitation will go. Surgeons and clinics in the same city differ in experience and in how they handle aftercare, so choosing them matters just as much as choosing the city.

Alcohol Rehabilitation recovery timeline: what to expect week by week

Plan a stay of 28–30 days, then fly home after programme completion and a discharge assessment, with your doctor's approval. You may need 28–35 days off work from admission, depending on your job and clinician advice. Light exercise usually resumes in 0–1 weeks, once withdrawal has settled. Abstinence and relapse-prevention gains build over 3–12 months with aftercare.

  1. Days 1–7

You’ll have medically supervised detox and stabilisation, with monitoring and symptom relief. Withdrawal may cause headache, nausea, tremor, and anxiety. Avoid alcohol, and expect limited contact and leave from the unit.

  2. Weeks 2–4

You’ll take part in individual and group therapy, CBT, education, family sessions, and relapse-prevention planning. Avoid alcohol, and follow the programme schedule.

  3. After discharge

After a stay of 28–30 days, you can usually fly home after programme completion and a discharge assessment, with your doctor's approval. Some clinics may offer remote or local check-ins 60–90 days later, with counselling, support groups, and possible relapse-prevention medication as part of aftercare. Avoid alcohol and high-risk situations.

When to contact your clinic: Seek emergency care for hallucinations or a seizure or fit. Get urgent help if you become confused about time or place. For chest pain or sudden breathlessness after a long flight, seek emergency help locally.

Thank you for all your help, you have been wonderful
The hospital were great and lots of pluses for extra treatments. Stephen is doing fine and the rehabilitation helped in small ways. The only thing I would say is the rooms are pretty average—especially bathrooms if someone is looking for something more modern, Navamin is not it! Plus it is so busy that things happen at break neck speed which we found it hard to keep up with at times. Thank you for all your help, you have been wonderful.
