But overall I'm really happy with my experience with the ID Clinic team ☺️
Ice was one of the nurses who collected me from the airport. She was so kind for waiting nearly two hours for me due to a delay I had. She helped me so much after my surgery too. Another nurse Marge was wonderful. She helped with translation and my aftercare, she was so gentle when helping take out my stitches. I thank all of the nursing staff, they were all wonderful in their own way and treated me very well. I wish I could have spoken with the doctor more, he always seemed in a rush, I know he is a very busy man but if he could slow down just a bit it would help the patient care factor improve. But overall I'm really happy with my experience with the ID Clinic team ☺️ I only took two pictures of the inside of my overnight room, the clinic was very clean and comfortable and beautiful 🙏
The staff and nurses were exceptional!
Not enough conversation with the doctor, he seemed in a hurry

The surgery is performed at the clinic not at a hospital which concerned me (were they prepared if something went wrong), the rooms opened up to the front desk where people would come for appointments and the toilet was across reception. I felt I didn't have much privacy and was very exposed. Nurses would not always come especially at night when I needed assistance to the toilet. I would be waiting at my hotel for a car and they would have forgotten to send one so the organisation level was not very good. It wasn't a very friendly/caring environment i felt. The communication was very poor too, there was one lady there that spoke English and she never smiled it just didnt feel good. I spoke to the doctor very briefly on surgery day and then he never spoke to me again. I wouldnt go back, ive had surgery in Thailand before and had a far better experience.
The nurses who cleaned my bandages and helped with my compression garments were lovely.
Room quality, upfront about procedures being done in a small operating room at a small clinic not hospital (was about 10 steps from reception), assistance and attentiveness (I didnt get fed after surgery i had to ask for food and they gave me boiled rice, then they also forgot about my breakfast), needs massive improvement in communication and organisation. More support and care. Doctor follow up post surgery should be done.
About Bookimed service
My experience with Bookimed prior to surgery was okay but I was really disappointed with the clinic having had it recommended by Bookimed. There should have been alot I should have been told about prior regarding the clinic and I voiced what was happening but I dont think much will be done about it but I just hope noone else has a similar experience as mine.

Very thorough and attentive medical staff
Very thorough and attentive medical staff. Vip like attention to detail and care. I was apprehensive if this was the right clinic for lipo as most of their services centred around aesthetics fillers and botox and those stuff. Had lipo on my abs and flanks, and I can already see the results after 10 days. Dr Aim really knows what she’s doing. Their BISP clinic is really comfy, they should prob move major procedures there in the future as it’s bigger than the Big C one. Thank you Siam Clinic.
VIP level attention to care and concerns
Maybe just a little cramped clinic at Big C. But just a minor gripe.

Overall, I happy with my liposuction and tummy tuck procedure
My surgeon was excellent however, when I asked about the risks, he didn’t reply. The medical staff/nurses were excellent, however, there was only 1 nurse who spoke English well but she was unavailable for 2 of my medical appointments (not her fault, she was in the OR). As a result, I had to rely on the translator for information. She often didn’t ask other nurses for information, so I felt I wasn’t getting specific medical information related to my recovery but rather general information. In my opinion, this shouldn’t happen and is a shortcoming of the clinic which can easily be rectified through feedback. My other observation is the cost of the procedure changed three times. Bookimed stated “The average cost of Liposuction in Thailand ranges from $2,177 to $6,444.” No currency was listed, I found out from Adam on WhatsApp the currency was THB. That would indicate that bookimed low-balled the cost considerably. Your personal medical coordinator is Dr. Marsela Canameti. The treatment price ranges from $2,000 to $3,500 USD, depending on the specifics of your case. Program description: The patient is good candidate to the Vaser liposuction and tummy tuck surgery . This procedure cost 4500 USD. The day of my surgery, when I was asked to pay, I was told that if I used a credit card, I would have to pay a 3% surcharge. That should have been mentioned on the day of my consultation. The day before, when I paid the $500 USD deposit with my credit card, they didn’t mention a surcharge. I made the maximum payment on my debit card, then they charged my credit card twice and said they didn’t charge me the extra 3%. Overall, I happy with my liposuction and tummy tuck procedure, continue to recover and need to wait 1-2 or months to be fully recovered and see the final result. I would recommend the ID clinic.
The care and empathy demonstrated by the nurses after my procedure

About Bookimed service
Bookimed was often behind/not keeping up with the progress of my case. In the bookimed chat they told me I had to pay $200 for my appointment. I asked why or how to pay but didn’t get an answer. Seems your medical coordinator is currently not in the workplace. Your message is delivered, and they will respond to you as soon as they are back! Your patience is appreciated, In WhatsApp, I was asked if I needed the clinic address. My consultation appointment was at 11am, so by the time I was asked this was 3 hours too late, I already had my consultation and was already at a hospital getting my medical tests. Thank you ID Clinic, I highly recommend
I am happy with the expertise provided by the doctor. He understood and have my needs by explaining his technique in tummy tuck and liposuction and compared other techniques he has used before. Shout out to Ice and Marj who went above and beyond to put me at ease with my procedures. The hotel inclusive of the package was a great touch in being closer to the doctor for pain relief and further enquiries. The doctor structured procedures in different days to ensure that the body can heal between procedures. I will be happy with the result once scarring and swelling have subsided. Thank you ID Clinic, I highly recommend.
That doctor has been in practice for long and knew the best technique to use.
The lack in providing a clear structure of what to expect post healing of which a checklist can be provided to the patient abd provide assurance and further understanding.
About Bookimed service
Bookimed response time was efficient and they communicated to the clinics which they had referred me to about my concerns and pricing. They provided me with 5% off and $100US from procedures from referals that I gave. A middle person is required to advocate for me during tough healing situations.

Our Liposuction Techniques: What Suits You Best?

When considering Liposuction, it’s important to understand the different techniques and which is best suited for you. Here’s a concise comparison of popular options:

Tumescent Liposuction

Involves injecting a solution to firm the fat, making it easier to remove with less pain, bleeding, and quicker recovery.

Pros: Local anesthesia. Reduced blood loss by up to 90% compared to traditional lipo. Unlike Vaser or laser lipo, which risk burns from heat, tumescent lipo is safer for larger fat removal.
Cons: Injected saline with anesthetic is up to 3-4 times the fat amount, risking fluid overload.
Effectiveness: Removes 3-5 liters (or 6-10 pounds) of stubborn fat.
Duration: 2-4 hours
Recovery: About 1-2 weeks for daily activities, with full healing in 4-6 weeks.
Best for: Abdomen, thighs, buttocks, arms, neck. Improves body contour, not for significant weight reduction.

Body Jet Liposuction

Body Jet liposuction uses a gentle water-jet stream to dislodge and remove fat with precision and minimal trauma.

Pros: Minimizes tissue damage by using water pressure, aiding faster recovery. Reduces bruising by up to 50% compared to traditional methods.
Cons: May not be as effective for large volume fat removal compared to other methods like tumescent liposuction.
Effectiveness: Removes up to 3-4 liters of fat per session.
Duration: 1-3 hours
Recovery: 3-7 days
Best for: Small to moderate areas like abdomen, hips, thighs, and arms. Ideal for those seeking precise body contouring.
Prices: Cost of Body Jet liposuction in Thailand from $2,500

Vaser Liposuction

Vaser liposuction is a body contouring procedure using ultrasound technology to selectively remove unwanted fat.

Pros: Less invasive due to precise targeting of fat cells. Removes up to 30% more fat than traditional methods. Minimal damage to surrounding tissues, reducing recovery time compared to belt lipectomy.
Cons: Slightly longer procedure time compared to laser liposuction. Potential for skin irregularities if not performed by an experienced surgeon.
Effectiveness: Removes up to 4 liters of fat in a single session.
Duration: 2-3 hours
Recovery: About 1-2 weeks for daily activities, full healing in 4-6 weeks.
Best for: Abdomen, thighs, flanks, back, arms. Ideal for precise body contouring and definition.
Prices: Cost of Vaser liposuction in Thailand from $2,750

Belt Lipectomy

A surgical procedure that removes excess skin and fat from the midsection, improving body contour.

Pros: Provides comprehensive contouring around the waist and back, addressing multiple areas in one surgery. Unlike liposuction, it tightens loose skin significantly.
Cons: Longer recovery time compared to liposuction procedures like Vaser or Body Jet. Involves more extensive scarring due to the larger incision.
Effectiveness: Removes up to 10-15 pounds of excess skin and fat.
Duration: 4-6 hours
Recovery: About 4-6 weeks for full activity, with initial recovery in 2-3 weeks.
Best for: Individuals with significant skin laxity around the abdomen and lower back, often post-major weight loss.
Prices: Cost of Belt Lipectomy in Thailand from $4,500

Liposuction 3 Body Areas

Fat reduction surgery targeting three specific body areas to improve contour and remove excess fat.

Pros: Efficiently targets multiple areas in one session, reducing overall procedure time. Offers a more balanced body contour compared to focusing on a single area.
Cons: Longer recovery time than single-area liposuction, as the body needs to heal from multiple sites.
Effectiveness: Removes up to 6 liters (or 13 pounds) of fat across the treated areas.
Duration: 3-5 hours
Recovery: 2-3 weeks for daily activities, with full healing in 6-8 weeks.
Best for: Abdomen, thighs, and flanks. Ideal for those seeking comprehensive body contouring.
Prices: Cost of Liposuction 3 body areas in Thailand from $1,500

Liposuction (5 Body Areas)

Body liposuction targets five body areas to remove excess fat and improve body contouring.

Pros: Efficiently targets multiple areas, enhancing overall body symmetry. Removes up to 6-10 pounds of fat, providing a noticeable change.
Cons: Longer procedure time compared to liposuction for fewer areas. Increased risk of complications due to larger treatment areas.
Effectiveness: Removes up to 6-10 pounds of fat.
Duration: 4-6 hours
Recovery: 2-4 weeks for daily activities, with full healing in 6-8 weeks.
Best for: Abdomen, thighs, arms, back, and buttocks. Addresses multiple fat deposits in one session.
Prices: Cost of Liposuction (5 body areas) in Thailand from $1,621

Laser Liposuction

Laser liposuction is a minimally invasive procedure using laser technology to liquefy fat cells before removal.

Pros: Less invasive than traditional methods, with a 25% faster recovery time. Enhanced skin tightening due to laser stimulation.
Cons: Limited to smaller areas, with a risk of burns if not performed correctly. Not ideal for large volume fat removal.
Effectiveness: Removes up to 3 liters of fat in a single session.
Duration: 1-3 hours
Recovery: 2-7 days
Best for: Small areas like chin, arms, and knees. Ideal for contouring and skin tightening.

What Is Liposuction?

faq image

Liposuction is a cosmetic surgical procedure used to remove localized fat deposits and create more balanced, refined body contours. A surgeon inserts a thin cannula beneath the skin and uses controlled suction to reduce fat in specific areas such as the abdomen, waist, thighs, arms, or under the chin.

The focus is shaping—not drastically changing body weight.

A simple way to imagine the process is to think of the procedure as precision sculpting: the surgeon carefully "shaves down" excess fat the way an artist smooths out unnecessary material to reveal a cleaner shape underneath.

Liposuction works best for people who already maintain a stable weight but have stubborn fat pockets resistant to diet and exercise. It enhances silhouette lines, improves proportions, and defines natural curves.

Who Is a Suitable Candidate for Liposuction?

Body contouring procedures are most effective for patients who want to refine their body shape rather than lose large amounts of weight.

Patients are typically good candidates if they have:

  • Localized fat deposits that do not improve with diet or exercise.

  • Stable body weight (usually within 10–15 kg of their ideal range).

  • Good skin elasticity, which helps the skin tighten smoothly after fat removal.

  • Realistic expectations about contouring results—not expecting dramatic weight loss.

  • Overall good health, with no uncontrolled medical conditions.

  • Specific areas they wish to target, such as abdomen, waist, thighs, arms, back, or chin.

  • No smoking habit or are willing to stop smoking before and after the procedure.

The procedure is generally not recommended for patients who:

  • Need major weight reduction or have obesity (BMI often > 30–32).

  • Have poor skin elasticity, which can lead to sagging after fat removal.

  • Expect the treatment to correct cellulite or stretch marks—fat removal does not address these issues.

  • Have significant health risks, such as severe heart disease, bleeding disorders, or uncontrolled diabetes.

  • Are unable to stop smoking, which increases complication risks.

  • Have unrealistic expectations (e.g., wanting weight loss instead of contouring).

  • Need correction of loose skin after pregnancy or weight loss—procedures like a tummy tuck may be more appropriate.

Why Choose Thailand for Liposuction

faq image

Designed by Freepik

Patients searching for the best place for body sculpting in Thailand often choose the country because it offers high surgical standards, predictable pricing, and an easy medical-travel experience.

Flexible locations allow patients to turn their trip into a medical holiday, whether they prefer coastal retreats or vibrant urban settings.

Internationally trained plastic surgeons

Thai specialists complete fellowships in Korea, Japan, the U.S., or Australia and hold memberships in respected global organizations. Leading facilities such as Wansiri Hospital (5.0/5, Bangkok) and ID Clinic Bangkok (4.4/5, Bangkok) feature internationally-trained surgeons including Dr. Phatcharasak Kraisornphongsakul and Dr. Jiraroch Meevassana.

These surgeons hold memberships in respected global organizations such as:

This background appeals to patients looking for the best surgeon or advanced sculpting techniques. When searching for the best clinic in Thailand, this expertise plays a crucial role.

Modern fat removal techniques

Advanced methods like traditional tumescent procedures ensure reliable fat removal, VASER delivers precise body sculpting, laser cosmetic fat removal promotes faster healing for small areas, and power-assisted (PAL) efficiently shapes larger volumes.

Fast scheduling and predictable timelines

Treatment can often be arranged quickly, which is ideal for international travel:

Consultations and surgery can often be arranged within 3–7 days, with follow-ups during the first week and return home in 7–10 days (or 10–14 for full-body procedures).

Package-based pricing

A body sculpting package may include consultation, surgery, anesthesia, a garment, follow-ups, airport transfers, and hotel nights. These bundles help patients avoid unexpected fees.

Partner centers also offer limited-time promotions, such as Asia Cosmetic Hospital's Chin Liposuction Package at $3,830 USD or Yanhee International Hospital's Advanced Liposuction Package starting at $2,283 USD.

Strong medical tourism infrastructure

Thailand supports patients choosing a medical holiday, with Bookimed serving 126,999 liposuction requests through top-rated facilities like Wansiri Hospital (5.0/5) and ID Clinic Bangkok (4.4/5). The country provides:

Cost advantage

The cost of body contouring in Thailand ($3,830–$5,000) is typically 40–60% lower than in the U.S. ($5,000–$10,000), UK ($4,000–$8,500), or Australia due to competitive private healthcare and package-based pricing — a key reason many patients select the country for cosmetic procedures.

Types of Liposculpture in Thailand

Thai clinics offer a variety of modern fat removal techniques, allowing patients to choose the approach that best suits their goals, body type, and recovery needs.

Type Description Typical Use
Traditional (tumescent) procedure Fat removed through cannulas after tumescent fluid injection. Abdomen, thighs, flanks, arms
VASER technique Ultrasound-assisted fat emulsification. More precise sculpting. Male chest, abdomen, flanks
Laser treatment Laser energy used to liquefy fat before suction. Small areas; contour refinement
Power-assisted technique Mechanized cannula movement. Larger-volume areas; full-body sculpting

VASER (Vibration Amplification of Sound Energy at Resonance) uses 36kHz ultrasonic frequency to selectively emulsify fat cells while preserving surrounding connective tissue, blood vessels, and nerves. This selective targeting enables treatment of both deep and superficial fat layers, resulting in enhanced skin retraction and more precise contouring. A 2024 study of 1,486 VASER procedures showed a 3.02% minor complication rate with no major complications, demonstrating superior safety profile. While VASER typically removes 20–25% less volume compared to traditional liposuction, it excels in high-definition body sculpting and areas requiring detailed contouring such as male chest and abdominal definition.

Traditional liposuction shows a 0.7% major complication rate in large database studies, with higher volume capacity (up to 5 liters safely) but less precision for detailed contouring.

Patients reading reviews typically pay attention to which technique was used, how much swelling occurred, and how natural the final contour looks.

Patient Satisfaction and Long-term Outcomes

Patient satisfaction rates for liposuction are consistently high across multiple studies. A national survey of 688 patients found that 91% were positive about their decision to have the procedure at 6-month follow-up, with 84% reporting high satisfaction levels (rating 4–5 on a 5-point scale).

A patient from Australia who received treatment at ID Clinic Bangkok shared: "The clinic was very clean and comfortable. Overall, happy with experience." (Bookimed verified review, 5.0/5 rating)

Long-term studies indicate that satisfaction remains stable, with most patients maintaining positive outcomes when following post-operative care guidelines and maintaining stable weight.

Surgery Cost in Thailand Explained

Even though the average cost of body contouring in Thailand is 40–60% lower than in Western countries, the exact price depends on factors such as:

Number of areas treated

More treated zones = more operating time, medication, and postoperative supplies.

Scenario Typical Impact on Price
Add a second area +30–50%
360° procedure (abdomen + waist + back) 1.5–2× single-area cost
Full body treatment 2–3× single-area cost

Technique used

Different technologies have different equipment and expertise requirements.

Technique Price Impact
Standard / Tumescent Baseline
VASER procedure +20–40%
Laser treatment +15–30%
Non-invasive option Lower per session, but 3–6 sessions often needed

Surgical complexity and patient profile

More complex procedures take longer and require greater surgical expertise.

Complexity Factor Price Impact
High-definition sculpting +20–50%
Higher BMI / large fat volume +$500–1,500
Revision after previous surgery 1.2–1.5× standard pricing

City and clinic location

Geography affects clinic costs and tourism-related demand.

Location Price Difference
Bangkok Baseline
Phuket +10–20%
Pattaya –10–15%

Surgeon experience and clinic level

International credentials usually reflect more training and case volume.

Factor Price Impact
ISAPS / ASPS / RCS memberships +15–30%
Premium international clinic +$300–800 overall

Why Body Contouring Is Cheaper in Thailand

This difference is mainly due to structural factors, not lower clinical quality.

Key reasons

  • Lower operational costs (staff, facilities, and overhead) than in Western systems.

  • Large private sector with many clinics, which keeps pricing competitive.

  • High patient volume, allowing efficient scheduling and better cost distribution. Thailand sees around 2.5 million medical tourism visits annually, with 65 JCI-accredited hospitals, supported by government initiatives to promote healthcare travel.

  • Package-based pricing, bundling several services.

All-Inclusive Packages

These bundles make it easier to understand pricing and reduce logistical stress.

A patient from Australia noted: "Doctor explained techniques, nurses and package hotel helped. Recommend ID Clinic." (Bookimed verified review, 5.0/5 rating)

Typical package components

Often Included Should Be Checked in Advance
Preoperative consultation and basic tests. Whether the price is per area or for multiple areas.
Surgeon and anesthesiologist fees. Technique used (traditional, VASER, laser).
Operating room and hospital stay if needed. Limits on fat volume or treatment zones.
Compression garment and initial medications. Costs of additional garments or extra nights in hospital.
Early postoperative check-ups. Extended follow-ups or revision policies.
Airport–hotel–clinic transfers and hotel nights. Whether companions' costs are included.

Some partner hospitals also run limited-time special offers, which may reduce the total cost further during specific periods. With the help of special offers patients can find the cheapest options available.

How the Surgery Works in Thai Clinics

Whether a patient chooses treatment in Bangkok, Phuket, or Pattaya, the basic steps are similar.

Typical process

Step What Happens
1. Preoperative consultation Medical history review, physical exam, and evaluation of target areas. Photos may be taken for baseline comparison.
2. Planning and marking The surgeon marks treatment zones and discusses realistic contouring results, especially important for multi-area planning.
3. Anesthesia Local anesthesia with sedation or general anesthesia is chosen based on the extent of the surgery.
4. Fat removal Small incisions are made; a cannula removes fat using traditional, VASER, or laser-assisted techniques, depending on the patient's goals.
5. Closure and garment Incisions are closed or left slightly open for drainage. Compression garments are applied to control swelling and support new contours.

Patients undergo treatment of multiple areas in a single session—common in 360° contouring—as long as the total fat volume remains within safety limits. Several zones can be treated in one session if it remains safe within volume limits.

When planning a body sculpting package, an additional area or small procedure may sometimes be added at a reduced rate, but this must be discussed and confirmed directly with the clinic in advance.

Recovery After Surgery

Most patients can walk the same or the next day, but swelling and bruising are typical for a period of time.

Recovery follows predictable stages based on clinical studies:

  • First 72 hours: Swelling peaks, with compression garments critical for drainage acceleration and pain reduction.
  • Week 1: Most patients experience significant improvement, with studies showing 75% reporting minimal discomfort during tumescent technique procedures.
  • Weeks 2–4: Incisions typically heal completely by 7–10 days, with most patients returning to work within 1–2 weeks.
  • Months 1–3: Swelling continues to resolve, with final results becoming apparent. Studies show that compression garment use for 4–6 weeks optimizes outcomes, while lymphatic massage starting at week 1 can reduce recovery time by 20–30%.
