How Much Does Skin grafting for acne scars Cost in Thailand?

Skin grafting for acne scars in Thailand typically costs from $2,200 / ฿74,800 to $3,800 / ฿129,200. Prices depend on the graft type, scar surface area, and clinic location. In the US, similar procedures cost around $10,500 / ฿357,000 on average. Thailand offers savings of around 71%. Costs generally cover the surgical procedure, local anesthesia, and initial post-operative consultations.

  • Graft complexity: Full-thickness grafts often cost more than split-thickness options due to donor site care.
  • Surgical scar revision: Typically adds a specific premium depending on the size of the treated area.
  • Bangkok medical hubs: Prices in the capital can be 15-20% higher than in regional centers.
  • Anesthesia type: General anesthesia significantly increases the total cost compared to local numbing techniques.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Choosing clinics in Bangkok provides access to doctors with international credentials. Dr. Ariyapon Lortaraprasert at Navamin9 Hospital holds certifications from the American Academy of Aesthetic Medicine. This hospital environment ensures higher safety standards than smaller outpatient centers. While standalone clinics like STC Clinic serve over 1,500 patients annually, hospital-based specialists offer more integrated care. Patients should prioritize surgeons trained in the ARTAS Robotic System or advanced dermatology. This ensures the best aesthetic results for complex scarring patterns.

The team followed through on every detail discussed
Sitting in the consultation room while the surgeon explained the precise use of 50-100 million umbilical cord stem cells gave me a clear sense of the technical path ahead. Fifteen days after the treatment, I am already noticing some improvement in my overall physical state. The application was smooth, and I experienced no injection site reactions or inflammatory flare-ups afterward. Recovery is just beginning. Every interaction with the clinic staff was handled with professional efficiency, ensuring that the logistical side of the medical travel was as controlled as the procedure itself. It is important to stay patient during this early window while the body starts to respond to the cells. The team followed through on every detail discussed.

Not sure... give me extra stem cells. Maybe have more food?

If you're travelling to Bangkok and need fast and quality care, I would highly recommend using Bookimed to set up an appointment and going to B
Everything went so smoothly and I was well taken care of upon arrival. B. Care Medical Center is very clean and beautiful. The medical team were very professional and thorough and warm and welcoming. Prices were very reasonable and they went above and beyond to give me more treatment than I had asked for. Bookimed was also very easy to use, response time was quick and easy and all my questions were answered promptly. If you're travelling to Bangkok and need fast and quality care, I would highly recommend using Bookimed to set up an appointment and going to B. Care Medical Center for your medical needs.

It was a terrible experience which I never want to go through again. Upon arrival at the hospital, the consultant , Jeab who led me there was not present to receive me. Instead I was attended by the medical sstaff who flatly shot down the agreed quotations offered by Jeab and even said they do not need the VDO anymore so they could not offer me what Jeab did and I was told I had to pay 3 times the proce of what I was offered before. Consequent to the price dispute, there were lots of bleak moments between the consultant and the medical staff internally then I was made to wait for over two hours then they suddenly reversed to ask for VDO compromised on an agreed price. I repeated said no to revealing my face for the VDO and the secretary Kimmy assured me my face will not be shown on camera. Prior to seeing the doctor, I was told to made payment first. For every doctor consultation, I had to go to the cashier to complete the payment and I was seeing two different doctors meant I had to repeat same process twice touring the entire medical centre so many times. What was most stupid was that I was never informed that I had to pay out of pocket for the Covid-9 test which I deem really unfair when there was konsixh prior information and they just dumped all the hidden cost on me. I only did the arm Vader+body tite along with pick laser for vaginal and I was made to go from building to building spending 7 hours there the entire day is really uncalled for!!!

I went to this clinic to get medical care. The very high price could be justified by this type of treatment. The medical team were present, but no parameters were taken either before or after the treatment. I don't think that customer satisfaction is the objective, the aim is above all to make people spend money unnecessarily. I would not recommend this clinic

I'm pleased I went there
Well it's been about a month and I'm still recovering but I'm pleased I went there.
The people were nice
What I didn't like wasn't to do with the place or people. I went through quite a painful procedure getting rid of rather a lot of moles and I almost wished I hadn't when I was in pain. It's all changed now that I'm healing.

FAQ about Skin grafting for acne scars in Thailand

These FAQs come from real patients seeking medical assistance through Bookimed. Answers are given by experienced medical coordinators and trusted clinic representatives.

What are the risks or complications associated with skin graft surgery for acne scars in Thailand?

Skin graft surgery for acne scars in Thailand involves risks like graft failure, infection, and scarring at the donor site. Qualified surgeons at accredited Bangkok facilities minimise these issues. Most procedures cost between $2,200 and $3,800. This is significantly less than the $6,900 Australian average.

  • Graft failure: The tissue may not take if blood vessels fail to develop.
  • Pigment mismatch: Grafted skin might not perfectly match the natural surrounding skin tone.
  • Infection risk: Surgeons prescribe antibiotics and provide sterile dressings to prevent surgical site infections.
  • Sensory changes: Patients may notice temporary numbness or increased sensitivity near the graft site.

Bookimed Expert Insight: While traditional grafting is common, many Thai clinics now include regenerative therapies to improve outcomes. Dr Ariyapon Lortaraprasert at Navamin9 Hospital has performed over 10,000 procedures. He often uses specialised techniques like robotic assistance. Clinics such as STC Clinic in Bangkok use umbilical cord stem cells and exosomes during recovery. These additions help the graft "take" more effectively and improve skin texture compared to surgery alone.

Are there alternatives to skin grafting for acne scars available in Thailand?

Thailand offers several effective alternatives to skin grafting for acne scars. These include laser resurfacing and regenerative cell therapies. Specialists in Bangkok use mesenchymal stem cells, exosome therapy, and microfocused ultrasound. These methods repair tissue and stimulate collagen without invasive surgical grafts.

  • Laser resurfacing: Fractional lasers at clinics like STC Clinic promote deep skin healing.
  • Regenerative medicine: Specialists use umbilical cord mesenchymal stem cells to repair damaged tissue.
  • Dermal fillers: Brands like Juvederm and Restylane plump deep scars for smooth skin.
  • Energy-based therapy: Thermage and Ulthera use radiofrequency or ultrasound to tighten scarring.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Data shows Thai clinics often combine regenerative therapies like PRP or exosomes with lasers. For example, Dr Ariyapon Lortaraprasert has performed 10,000+ procedures using these integrated methods. This multi-layered approach usually delivers better results for deep scars than a single surgical skin graft.

Patient Consensus: Patients in Thailand find that combining subcision for tethered scars with fractional lasers works best. Most people expect to need multiple sessions to see a significant difference in skin texture.

Where are the primary locations to receive skin grafting for acne scars in Thailand?

Bangkok is the primary location for acne scar surgery in Thailand. It houses specialised dermatology hospitals and aesthetic centres. JCI-accredited facilities like Bumrungrad International and units such as STC Clinic offer skin grafting. They also provide regenerative therapies like mesenchymal stem cells and exosome treatments.

  • Bangkok medical hub: Most accredited hospitals and high-volume dermatology units are located here.
  • Regenerative therapy options: Clinics like STC Clinic use umbilical cord stem cells and exosomes.
  • Punch grafting specialists: Surgeons use this technique to replace deep ice-pick scars with healthy skin.
  • Multimodal treatment approach: Providers often combine grafting with subcision, PRP, and laser resurfacing.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Skin grafting costs between $2,200 and $3,800. Many Bangkok specialists now favour regenerative medicine. Clinics like STC Clinic treat over 1,500 patients annually. They combine traditional grafting with mesenchymal stem cells to speed up healing and improve skin texture.

Patient Consensus: Patients in Thailand often find that combining subcision and laser therapy with grafting works best. Many recommend booking telehealth consultations with Bangkok dermatologists. This helps confirm if grafting or less invasive resurfacing is more suitable.
