The team followed through on every detail discussed
Sitting in the consultation room while the surgeon explained the precise use of 50-100 million umbilical cord stem cells gave me a clear sense of the technical path ahead. Fifteen days after the treatment, I am already noticing some improvement in my overall physical state. The application was smooth, and I experienced no injection site reactions or inflammatory flare-ups afterward. Recovery is just beginning. Every interaction with the clinic staff was handled with professional efficiency, ensuring that the logistical side of the medical travel was as controlled as the procedure itself. It is important to stay patient during this early window while the body starts to respond to the cells. The team followed through on every detail discussed.
Josh and team had fantastic thorough communication
Not sure... give me extra stem cells. Maybe have more food?

It was a terrible experience which I never want to go through again. Upon arrival at the hospital, the consultant , Jeab who led me there was not present to receive me. Instead I was attended by the medical sstaff who flatly shot down the agreed quotations offered by Jeab and even said they do not need the VDO anymore so they could not offer me what Jeab did and I was told I had to pay 3 times the proce of what I was offered before. Consequent to the price dispute, there were lots of bleak moments between the consultant and the medical staff internally then I was made to wait for over two hours then they suddenly reversed to ask for VDO compromised on an agreed price. I repeated said no to revealing my face for the VDO and the secretary Kimmy assured me my face will not be shown on camera. Prior to seeing the doctor, I was told to made payment first. For every doctor consultation, I had to go to the cashier to complete the payment and I was seeing two different doctors meant I had to repeat same process twice touring the entire medical centre so many times. What was most stupid was that I was never informed that I had to pay out of pocket for the Covid-9 test which I deem really unfair when there was konsixh prior information and they just dumped all the hidden cost on me. I only did the arm Vader+body tite along with pick laser for vaginal and I was made to go from building to building spending 7 hours there the entire day is really uncalled for!!!

FAQ about Stem cell therapy for ankylosing spondylitis in Thailand

These FAQs come from real patients seeking medical assistance through Bookimed. Answers are given by experienced medical coordinators and trusted clinic representatives.

How does stem cell therapy for ankylosing spondylitis work in Thailand?

Stem cell therapy for ankylosing spondylitis in Thailand uses mesenchymal stem cells to reduce inflammation and support tissue repair. Treatment involves injections of allogeneic stem cells from umbilical cord and amniotic fluid. It aims to control autoimmune response and slow new bone growth in joints.

  • Techniques: allogeneic stem cells combining amniotic fluid and umbilical cord cells.
  • Clinic example: The Demarest Clinic is Health Ministry-approved for stem cell procedures.
  • Procedure type: injection-based therapy with advanced cell culturing and activation.
  • Results timeline: some clinics report improvement within 3–4 weeks.
  • Follow-up: ongoing consultations linked to a global research network.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Clinics in Thailand are focused on allogeneic stem cell techniques, especially umbilical cord sources. The Demarest Clinic leads in protocol updates through a global network, which can help patients access the latest research-driven care for this complex condition.

Patient Consensus: Some patients see early improvement, but results vary widely. Many say stem cell therapy feels experimental and advise caution. Stay aware that most Thai centres focus on fibromyalgia and may not treat ankylosing spondylitis specifically.

Are all ankylosing spondylitis patients good candidates for stem cell therapy in Thailand?

Not all ankylosing spondylitis patients are suitable for stem cell therapy in Thailand. Candidates must undergo a thorough assessment, excluding those with late-stage disease or multiple health issues. Treatment primarily targets early to moderate stages to reduce inflammation and modulate the immune response.

  • Candidate assessment: Requires detailed medical evaluation for disease stage and health status.
  • Exclusions: Late-stage ankylosing spondylitis and severe vision loss cases are usually excluded.
  • Clinics: ID Clinic Bangkok has Royal College of Surgeons Thailand accreditation and treats Australian patients.
  • Specialist involvement: Regenerative medicine experts like Dr Chollawat Thongthaisin lead stem cell therapy in Bangkok.
  • Treatment status: Stem cell therapy for ankylosing spondylitis is still experimental with variable patient responses.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Clinics in Thailand focus on early disease stages, with thorough screening to exclude complicated cases. Bangkok’s ID Clinic treats 4,000+ adults yearly with a 95% success rate in stem cell therapies for other conditions, showing experienced care for selected patients.

Patient Consensus: Patients warn stem cell therapy for ankylosing spondylitis in Thailand is experimental and not a guaranteed cure. Many say it’s a last resort after standard treatments fail, with improvement varying widely.

What types of stem cell treatment protocols for ankylosing spondylitis are offered in Thailand?

Stem cell treatment for ankylosing spondylitis in Thailand mainly involves intravenous or intramuscular injections. Single injection sessions are common, with effects expected in 3–4 weeks. Clinics use general stem cell protocols without specific targeting of spinal inflammation or detailed chemotherapy involvement.

  • Injection types: Intravenous and intramuscular stem cell administration.
  • Treatment timeline: Usually a single injection session with gradual improvement.
  • Cell source details: Often unclear if cells are autologous or allogeneic.
  • Protocols: No standardised or specialised protocols specifically for ankylosing spondylitis.
  • Supportive care: Limited information on integration with rehabilitation or systemic therapies.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Australian patients should note treatments in Thailand lean towards simple injection protocols without chemotherapy-based stem cell transplants. Clinics like ID Clinic Bangkok and The Demarest Clinic use cultured cell techniques, but focused AS protocols are rare. Confirm cell sources and safety standards before proceeding.

Patient Consensus: Patients say stem cell injections in Thailand often come as one-off sessions with improvement expected after weeks. Many recommend checking with an Australian rheumatologist first and treating this approach as experimental rather than a cure.

What is the difference between conventional treatment and stem cell therapy for ankylosing spondylitis in Thailand?

Conventional treatment for ankylosing spondylitis (AS) in Thailand manages inflammation and symptoms using NSAIDs, DMARDs, and biologics. Stem cell therapy aims to modulate the immune system and promote tissue repair with mesenchymal stem cells. Stem cell therapy remains experimental for AS and is less proven than conventional methods.

  • Conventional drugs: Include NSAIDs and biologics like TNF inhibitors to reduce pain and inflammation.
  • Stem cell therapy: Uses lab-cultured umbilical cord stem cells to target immune dysfunction.
  • Safety: Stem cell treatments in Thailand follow AABB-certified protocols with low side effects.
  • Effectiveness: Conventional treatment controls symptoms; stem cell therapy’s benefit for AS is unproven.
  • Clinical status: Stem cell therapy is experimental and less available than standard treatments in Thailand.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Thailand offers stem cell therapy with AABB-certified labs and allogeneic umbilical cord cells, mostly at newer clinics like The Demarest in Phuket. Conventional AS treatments are widely accessible, but stem cell therapy's impact on disease progression remains unclear. This gap highlights a cautious approach for Australians seeking proven care.

Patient Consensus: Patients in Thailand find conventional treatments reliably control inflammation and pain. Stem cell therapy for AS is viewed as experimental, with little symptom relief reported weeks after treatment. Advice focuses on following conventional medical standards and consulting specialists on clinical trials.

Is stem cell therapy for ankylosing spondylitis in Thailand widely approved?

Stem cell therapy for ankylosing spondylitis in Thailand is considered experimental and not widely approved by medical authorities. Only a few private clinics provide allogeneic stem cell treatments, often using amniotic fluid or umbilical cord cells. The therapy lacks standard approval and clinical protocols.

  • Regenerative medicine approach: Allogeneic stem cell therapy using amniotic fluid and umbilical cord cells is offered.
  • Clinic accreditation: Some clinics hold Royal College of Surgeons Thailand certification, but treatments lack nationwide approval.
  • Leading clinics: The Demarest Clinic is sanctioned by the Thai Health Ministry for stem cell therapy.
  • Safety status: Treatments are experimental, not covered by public healthcare or standard guidelines.
  • Patient advice: Consult Australian specialists first to explore evidence-based AS treatments locally.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Thailand’s stem cell therapy for ankylosing spondylitis remains niche with just a couple of specialised clinics. The Demarest Clinic has official Health Ministry backing, which is rare amid mostly unregulated providers. Australian patients benefit from choosing clinics with clear certification and research links.

Patient Consensus: Patients note that stem cell therapy in Thailand is experimental with uncertain results. Many suggest it’s wise to treat this as an alternative option, not a guaranteed fix, and to research thoroughly before travel.
