The team followed through on every detail discussed
Sitting in the consultation room while the surgeon explained the precise use of 50-100 million umbilical cord stem cells gave me a clear sense of the technical path ahead. Fifteen days after the treatment, I am already noticing some improvement in my overall physical state. The application was smooth, and I experienced no injection site reactions or inflammatory flare-ups afterward. Recovery is just beginning. Every interaction with the clinic staff was handled with professional efficiency, ensuring that the logistical side of the medical travel was as controlled as the procedure itself. It is important to stay patient during this early window while the body starts to respond to the cells. The team followed through on every detail discussed.
Josh and team had fantastic thorough communication
Not sure... give me extra stem cells. Maybe have more food?

It was a terrible experience which I never want to go through again. Upon arrival at the hospital, the consultant , Jeab who led me there was not present to receive me. Instead I was attended by the medical sstaff who flatly shot down the agreed quotations offered by Jeab and even said they do not need the VDO anymore so they could not offer me what Jeab did and I was told I had to pay 3 times the proce of what I was offered before. Consequent to the price dispute, there were lots of bleak moments between the consultant and the medical staff internally then I was made to wait for over two hours then they suddenly reversed to ask for VDO compromised on an agreed price. I repeated said no to revealing my face for the VDO and the secretary Kimmy assured me my face will not be shown on camera. Prior to seeing the doctor, I was told to made payment first. For every doctor consultation, I had to go to the cashier to complete the payment and I was seeing two different doctors meant I had to repeat same process twice touring the entire medical centre so many times. What was most stupid was that I was never informed that I had to pay out of pocket for the Covid-9 test which I deem really unfair when there was konsixh prior information and they just dumped all the hidden cost on me. I only did the arm Vader+body tite along with pick laser for vaginal and I was made to go from building to building spending 7 hours there the entire day is really uncalled for!!!

FAQ about Stem cell therapy for ALS (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis) in Thailand

These FAQs come from real patients seeking medical assistance through Bookimed. Answers are given by experienced medical coordinators and trusted clinic representatives.

Is stem cell therapy for ALS currently considered a safe and recognised treatment in Thailand?

Stem cell therapy for ALS in Thailand is an experimental treatment. It is not a standard medical protocol. Private clinics in Bangkok provide these therapies. However, they remain outside conventional medical channels. Safety is generally high in ISO-certified facilities. These clinics use mesenchymal stem cells to minimise rejection risks.

  • Regulatory standards: Leading facilities like EDNA Wellness follow OECD Good Laboratory Practice and ISO standards.
  • Laboratory quality: Clinics often partner with GMP-certified laboratories for high-quality stem cell processing.
  • Safe administration: Doctors like Dr Chollawat Thongthaisin hold American Board of Regenerative Medicine certification.
  • Clinical focus: Therapy aims to stabilise existing neurons and slow disease progression rather than provide cures.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Many countries lack clear pathways for these treatments. Thailand allows private clinics to offer them under strict laboratory standards. Verification is key. Facilities with ISO/IEC 17025:2017 accreditation offer reliable quality control for Australians seeking experimental options.

Patient Consensus: Treatment in Thailand is seen as an experimental step. It requires deep research into clinical protocols. Patients suggest choosing centres with transparent follow-up plans. They also recommend looking for documented results from previous cases.

How does stem cell therapy for ALS function as a treatment in Thailand?

Stem cell therapy for ALS in Thailand uses mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) to slow disease progression. These treatments aim to improve quality of life. Specialists use intravenous or intrathecal injections to reduce inflammation and support motor neurons. Treatment typically occurs in JCI or ISO-accredited clinics in Bangkok.

  • Cellular mechanism: Mesenchymal stem cells release neurotrophic factors to protect existing motor neurons and reduce stress.
  • Administration route: Lumbar punctures or intravenous infusions bypass the blood-barrier to deliver cells directly.
  • Clinical accreditation: Facilities like EDNA Wellness hold ISO 9001:2015 certification and use GMP-certified laboratory partners.
  • Professional expertise: Practitioners like Dr Chollawat Thongthaisin at Vega Clinic hold American Board of Regenerative Medicine credentials.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Many clinics offer general stem cell treatments. However, the most reliable outcomes for neurological conditions in Thailand come from centres partnering with TISTR. These partnerships help laboratory-grown cells meet strict OECD Good Laboratory Practice standards.

Patient Consensus: Patients suggest asking for exact cell dosages. They also advise separating the benefits of bundled intensive physiotherapy from the stem cell results. They recommend coordinating with a local neurologist before travelling to Thailand for a cohesive care plan.

What kind of results can patients realistically expect from stem cell treatment for ALS in Thailand?

Patients should expect stem cell therapy for ALS in Thailand to function as a supportive treatment rather than a cure. The procedure aims to slow disease progression and improve quality of life. Realistically, outcomes include stabilised motor function, improved facial muscle strength, and temporary gains in breathing capacity.

  • Slower progression: Patients often see a delayed decline in motor skills and physical function.
  • Functional stability: Temporary improvements in muscle strength help with daily communication and swallowing.
  • Tailored protocols: Clinics like EDNA Wellness in Bangkok provide individually tailored regenerative medicine plans.
  • Quality standards: Key facilities partner with GMP-certified laboratories and follow ISO 9001:2015 quality standards.

Bookimed Expert Insight: The primary goal is slowing progression. Thailand stands out because doctors like Dr Chollawat Thongthaisin hold American Board of Regenerative Medicine certification. This helps patients follow international protocols. However, treatments in Thailand cost between $25,000 and $45,000. This is higher than the $30,300 Australian average. The premium pays for laboratory partnerships and board-certified specialists.

Patient Consensus: Patients in Thailand report that while recovery is not the reality, the treatment can offer modest slowing of the disease. They suggest prioritising rest. Both the travel and procedure are physically taxing for individuals with ALS.

Which medical facilities in Bangkok are known for providing stem cell therapy for ALS?

Several Bangkok medical facilities specialise in stem cell therapy for ALS. These centres focus on regenerative medicine to support neurological function. EDNA Wellness and Vega Clinic are notable for their lab partnerships and board-certified experts. They provide tailored mesenchymal stem cell protocols within internationally recognised safety frameworks.

  • Technological infrastructure: EDNA Wellness partners with GMP-certified laboratories. It also maintains ISO/IEC 17025:2017 laboratory standards.
  • Clinical expertise: Dr Chollawat Thongthaisin at Vega Clinic holds American Board of Regenerative Medicine certification.
  • Regulatory compliance: Major Bangkok centres follow OECD Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) and ISO 9001:2015 quality protocols.
  • Treatment scope: Facilities often combine stem cell injections with intensive rehabilitation at dedicated neuroscience units.

Bookimed Expert Insight: While mainstream hospitals cost upwards of $45,000, labs partnering with EDNA Wellness provide same-day processing. This direct lab-to-clinic pathway maintains higher cell viability. This is critical for patients travelling from Australia.

Patient Consensus: Patients in Bangkok often use protocols involving both local injections and intranasal administration. This allows for better neural access. Many recommend requesting peer-reviewed data and exact cell counts before starting any regenerative therapy program.
