The team followed through on every detail discussed
Sitting in the consultation room while the surgeon explained the precise use of 50-100 million umbilical cord stem cells gave me a clear sense of the technical path ahead. Fifteen days after the treatment, I am already noticing some improvement in my overall physical state. The application was smooth, and I experienced no injection site reactions or inflammatory flare-ups afterward. Recovery is just beginning. Every interaction with the clinic staff was handled with professional efficiency, ensuring that the logistical side of the medical travel was as controlled as the procedure itself. It is important to stay patient during this early window while the body starts to respond to the cells. The team followed through on every detail discussed.
Josh and team had fantastic thorough communication
Not sure... give me extra stem cells. Maybe have more food?

It was a terrible experience which I never want to go through again. Upon arrival at the hospital, the consultant , Jeab who led me there was not present to receive me. Instead I was attended by the medical sstaff who flatly shot down the agreed quotations offered by Jeab and even said they do not need the VDO anymore so they could not offer me what Jeab did and I was told I had to pay 3 times the proce of what I was offered before. Consequent to the price dispute, there were lots of bleak moments between the consultant and the medical staff internally then I was made to wait for over two hours then they suddenly reversed to ask for VDO compromised on an agreed price. I repeated said no to revealing my face for the VDO and the secretary Kimmy assured me my face will not be shown on camera. Prior to seeing the doctor, I was told to made payment first. For every doctor consultation, I had to go to the cashier to complete the payment and I was seeing two different doctors meant I had to repeat same process twice touring the entire medical centre so many times. What was most stupid was that I was never informed that I had to pay out of pocket for the Covid-9 test which I deem really unfair when there was konsixh prior information and they just dumped all the hidden cost on me. I only did the arm Vader+body tite along with pick laser for vaginal and I was made to go from building to building spending 7 hours there the entire day is really uncalled for!!!

FAQ about Stem cell therapy for COPD in Thailand

These FAQs come from real patients seeking medical assistance through Bookimed. Answers are given by experienced medical coordinators and trusted clinic representatives.

Is stem cell therapy for COPD in Thailand considered safe and effective?

Stem cell therapy for COPD in Thailand is safe in regulated facilities. This follows a 2026 ministerial decree classifying therapies as registered medicines. While clinics report better lung function, it remains an experimental treatment rather than a standard cure.

  • Regulatory status: New 2026 laws classify mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) as specialised medicinal products.
  • Safety standards: Registered clinics must follow strict production, safety, and evidence-based protocols.
  • Treatment efficacy: Research focuses on reducing inflammation rather than reversing established lung damage.
  • Procedure costs: Local treatment typically ranges from $12,000 to $22,000 for 100 million cells.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Thailand is a global hub with 150+ clinics. Only facilities like ID Clinic Bangkok maintain active Australian patient pathways. These clinics treat 4,000+ patients annually. Patients should choose clinics using mesenchymal cells with only 3–4 culture passages. This preserves the potency needed for respiratory conditions.

Patient Consensus: Many patients find these treatments more accessible than domestic options. However, they still view them as experimental. People often check cell source and count carefully to manage expectations for this therapy.

Can COPD be treated with stem cell therapy in Thailand?

Specialised clinics in Bangkok and Phuket treat Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD). They use mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) to reduce lung inflammation. These therapies involve high-cell-count infusions, typically from 50 million to 100 million cells. They aim to improve breathing and reduce chronic coughing.

  • Treatment focus: Clinics use mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) to target damage from chronic bronchitis.
  • Facility types: Most procedures occur in Bangkok units like ID Clinic Bangkok or Phuket.
  • Regulatory status: Therapies are offered as regenerative treatments rather than traditional curative clinical trials.
  • Inclusions: Packages usually cover pulmonary diagnostics, cell infusions, accommodation, and airport transfers.
  • Cost range: Treatment typically costs from $12,000 to $22,000 in Thailand.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Thailand hosts over 150 clinics offering stem cell services. High-volume centres in Bangkok serve 4,000+ international patients annually. While some clinics use stem cells for aesthetic procedures, others provide 10-day intensive protocols. These protocols focus on lung regeneration and immune modulation.

Patient Consensus: Patients find Thailand geographically convenient. However, they emphasise the importance of checking cell manufacturing and laboratory testing transparency. Many report reduced coughing and improved energy levels after finishing their infusion protocols.

What kind of clinical results can I expect from stem cell treatment for COPD in Thailand?

Stem cell treatment for COPD in Thailand aims to reduce lung inflammation and improve breathing using mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs). Most patients report better quality of life and increased stamina. They also see higher oxygen saturation levels rather than a complete cure.

  • Respiratory function: Patients often see reduced airway inflammation and easier breathing.
  • Physical stamina: Improved energy levels allow for more consistent daily activity.
  • Oxygen saturation: Increased blood oxygen levels can reduce the need for supplemental oxygen.
  • Symptom reduction: Many experience less chronic coughing and lower mucus production.
  • Clinical benchmarks: Specialist clinics use spirometry and 6-minute walk tests to measure progress.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Thailand is a global hub with 150+ clinics, but results depend on the disease stage. Data from clinics like ID Clinic Bangkok show the most consistent outcomes. This clinic treats 4,000+ patients annually, mostly those with moderate lung capacity.

Patient Consensus: Expect small but meaningful gains, such as walking further without gasping. Results vary between patients. Focus on functional improvements rather than expecting a total reversal.

How does stem cell therapy work to treat COPD?

Stem cell therapy for COPD introduces mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) into the bloodstream. These cells help reduce airway inflammation and promote tissue repair. They migrate to damaged lung areas to slow disease progression and improve respiratory function. Clinics in Thailand typically use intravenous infusions to deliver cells safely.

  • Immune modulation: Stem cells release anti-inflammatory factors to calm chronic airway and lung irritation.
  • Tissue repair: Therapy aims to stimulate regeneration of damaged alveoli and basal lung cells.
  • Vascular support: New capillary formation may improve oxygen transfer and stamina for daily activities.
  • Delivery method: Practitioners usually administer cells via intravenous (IV) drip for systemic circulation.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Thailand is a major hub for regenerative medicine, with 154 clinics offering these therapies. Many patients seek treatment for emphysema. However, the most consistent results appear in those seeking an intensive anti-inflammatory boost. Success often depends on cell culture quality rather than just the total cell count.

Patient Consensus: Patients in Thailand often report improved energy and easier breathing shortly after the infusion. This approach works best to manage symptoms and slow progression rather than providing a permanent cure.

What is the best type of stem cell therapy for treating COPD?

Mesenchymal Stem Cells (MSCs) are the most effective type for treating COPD. They target lung inflammation and are typically harvested from a patient's own fat tissue or bone marrow. This helps repair damaged air sacs and improves breathing capacity.

  • Mesenchymal Stem Cells: MSCs from fat or bone marrow reduce chronic inflammation and help lung regeneration.
  • Adipose-derived cells: Surgeons harvest these from fat tissue to target systemic inflammation and improve mobility.
  • Bone marrow cells: This approach uses endothelial progenitor cells to repair damaged air sacs naturally.
  • Stem cell secretome: This cell-free inhalation or IV treatment uses therapeutic factors to target lung tissue.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Thailand is a global hub for regenerative medicine with over 150 specialised clinics. Many Australian patients seek treatment for lung conditions there. Data shows Thailand serves over 2,000 international cases annually. It ranks third globally for these specialised respiratory requests.

Patient Consensus: Patients in Thailand often report improved breathing and better exercise tolerance. Many highlight the importance of choosing clinics that provide clear details on cell sourcing and testing.

What is the typical medical process for receiving stem cell treatment for COPD in Thailand?

The medical process for COPD stem cell treatment in Thailand takes 5–10 days in Bangkok. It involves remote record review and onsite lung function testing. Specialists use intravenous infusion of mesenchymal stem cells. They typically use umbilical cord-derived cells or adipose tissue to help repair lung structure. Doctors harvest this tissue via mini-liposuction.

  • Clinical assessment: Specialists perform CT scans and lung function tests upon arrival.
  • Cell harvesting: Doctors may use mini-liposuction to collect fat-derived stem cells.
  • Laboratory processing: Harvested cells undergo concentration or cultivation in specialised facilities.
  • Intravenous infusion: Concentrated stem cells enter the bloodstream via a standard IV drip.
  • Supportive care: Programs often include pulmonary consultations and intensive follow-up monitoring.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Thailand has 154 clinics offering these therapies. Bangkok serves as the primary hub. Data shows high-dose protocols using 80–100 million cells often cost 40–50% more than standard infusions. Checking the passage number—how many times cells were cultured—helps confirm product quality before treatment begins.

Patient Consensus: Patients follow a direct-to-clinic pathway involving remote enquiries and onsite screenings in Thailand. Experience shows it is vital to confirm whether clinics use mesenchymal cells or exosomes for respiratory support.
