How Much Does Mole Removal Cost in Istanbul?

Mole removal in Istanbul typically costs from $300 to $900. The final price depends on the removal technique, the depth of the lesion, and whether histopathology is required. Patients save around 60% compared to the US, where this procedure costs $1,000 on average. Most clinics include a dermatological exam, local anesthesia, and initial follow-up care in the total price.

  • Laser mole removal: $200 to $600 for non-invasive cosmetic treatment.
  • Atypical mole removal: $400 to $1,100 for complex or suspicious lesions.
  • Surgical excision: Typically adds 20-30% to the cost due to suturing and complexity.
  • Histopathology: Often billed separately if lab testing is needed to check for malignancy.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Istanbul serves as Turkey's primary hub for dermatological surgery with more specialists than Antalya or Ankara. This depth of expertise allows clinics like Memorial Şişli to offer JCI-accredited care. Patients often find better value at multi-specialty centers like Büyük Anadolu Hospitals. These facilities bundle premium services like airport transfers into their surgical removal prices.

Data verified by Bookimed as of August 2026, based on patient requests and official quotes from 166 clinics worldwide. Median costs are based on real invoices (2025–2026) and updated monthly. Actual prices may vary.

My daughter and I had a mole removed at this clinic! I never saw the doctor in the eyes, I thought after the operation he would come in to find out our condition, however, young specialists came in! I’m not even sure now whether that professor or others did the operation. Special! I wrote down so many questions that worried me, but ... On the scheduled date, the operation was not performed, as the Doctor went home they said! They promised to send the tests to Votsap or by mail, but the translators and consultants on the site who ignore them do not answer ... Something like that!

FAQ about treatment in Turkey

These FAQs come from real patients seeking medical assistance through Bookimed. Answers are given by experienced medical coordinators and trusted clinic representatives.

Will there be a scar after mole removal in Istanbul?

Mole removal in Istanbul typically leaves minimal traces, as specialists use laser or micro-excision methods. While surgical techniques may leave a fine line, laser removal often results in nearly invisible marks. Scarring depends on mole depth, skin type, and whether a board-certified plastic surgeon performs the procedure.

  • Removal method: Laser techniques generally leave no visible scars for superficial or flat lesions.
  • Surgical precision: Plastic surgeons in Istanbul often produce smaller scars than general dermatologists.
  • Procedure cost: Prices range from $300 to $900 depending on the technique.
  • Aftercare protocol: Using silicone gels and SPF 50+ significantly reduces long-term scar visibility.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Data shows that clinics like Db'est Clinic or Quartz Hospital focus on aesthetic results. These clinics use European Board-certified surgeons for even minor mole removals. Choosing a plastic surgeon over a general practitioner is a smart move for facial moles. Plastic surgeons prioritize sub-millimeter suturing techniques. As a result, any remaining mark mimics a natural skin fold.

Patient Consensus: Patients report that initial redness can last for several months. However, the final result is often a faint mark easily concealed by light makeup. Most patients emphasize that keeping the area moist during the first week is the most important step. Doing so leads to a clear recovery.

Are doctors in Istanbul qualified to remove moles?

Doctors in Istanbul are exceptionally qualified to remove moles. Specialists often hold European Board of Plastic Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery (EBOPRAS) certifications. Highly rated facilities like Memorial Şişli Hospital maintain Joint Commission International accreditation. This ensures professional surgical standards and mandatory histopathological analysis for patient safety.

  • Specialist credentials: Surgeons often belong to the Turkish Society of Plastic Surgeons and EBOPRAS.
  • Diagnostic tools: Reputable clinics use dermoscopy for pigmented lesion analysis before removal.
  • Safety protocols: Facilities like Anadolu Medical Center follow NCCN guidelines for tissue biopsy.
  • Average costs: Prices range from $300 to $900 per session.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Patient volume is a major indicator of surgical precision in Istanbul. Dr. Hasan Sahin at Hisar Hospital has performed over 12,000 surgeries. Büyük Anadolu Hospitals treats 280,000 patients annually. Such high volume translates into refined techniques for minimizing visible scarring during facial mole excisions.

Patient Consensus: Patients recommend choosing plastic surgeons over general dermatologists for facial mole removals. This helps ensure cleaner closures. Medical standards are high. However, people warn against clinics that rush consultations or delay sending pathology results.

Is it painful to have moles removed in Istanbul?

Mole removal in Istanbul is typically not painful. Surgeons use local anesthesia like lidocaine or novocaine to numb the skin before starting. Most patients feel a brief sting from the injection. After that, they typically feel only pressure or tugging during the 15–30 minute outpatient procedure.

  • Anesthesia methods: Clinics use local anesthetic injections or numbing creams to make sure you're comfortable.
  • Modern techniques: Surgeons use laser, shave excision, or surgical excision for precise results.
  • Recovery period: Most patients return to normal daily activities within 24 to 48 hours.
  • Clinic quality: Accredited centers like JCI-certified Memorial Sisli Hospital meet high safety standards.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Patient data suggests simple numbed excision or shave removal is often more comfortable than laser therapy. Laser treatments can sometimes cause more heat-related discomfort during the session. If the mole is in a high-movement area, consider Dr. Derya Bingol at Db'est Clinic. Her specialized closure techniques help reduce post-operative soreness.

Patient Consensus: Patients typically report that the small numbing shot is the only real discomfort they feel. Others say the smell or sound of the equipment is more noticeable than any actual pain.

How many days do I need to stay in Istanbul?

Patients typically need 3 to 5 days in Istanbul for mole removal. The timeframe covers an initial consultation, the outpatient procedure, and a vital follow-up check. You can do this all before flying. While the surgery takes under 30 minutes, clinics require 24 to 72 hours for wound monitoring.

  • Procedure duration: Most excisions take 15 to 30 minutes under local anesthesia.
  • Hospital stay: Mole removal is an outpatient procedure with no overnight stay required.
  • Clinical timeline: Day 1 involves consultation; Day 2 is surgery; Day 3 is follow-up.
  • Wait-to-fly: Wait at least 18 to 48 hours before long-haul flights.

Bookimed Expert Insight: While basic packages cover 2 nights, choosing a 4-night stay provides a significant safety buffer. Data from clinics like Anadolu Medical Center supports this. A professional dressing change on day 2 or 3 lowers infection risks. This extra time also prevents cabin pressure from affecting fresh surgical sites during travel.

Patient Consensus: Travelers often find 3 nights ideal for clinic flow. However, patients often suggest staying 5 days. This way, they avoid feeling rushed or managing bandages alone on the plane.

What are the best clinics for mole removal in Istanbul?

Top clinics for mole removal in Istanbul include Quartz Hospital, Memorial Şişli Hospital, and Anadolu Medical Center. These facilities offer dermoscopy diagnostics alongside laser and surgical techniques. Istanbul clinics prioritize aesthetic outcomes. They employ board-certified plastic surgeons for facial procedures and maintain JCI-accredited safety protocols.

  • Technique options: Clinics provide surgical excision for deep moles and laser removal for superficial lesions.
  • Expert specialists: Dr. Derya Bingol at Db'est Clinic specializes in aesthetic and reconstructive techniques.
  • Pathology analysis: Major hospitals like Memorial Şişli provide specialized pathology for surgically removed suspicious moles.
  • Patient safety: Istanbul features a high concentration of Joint Commission International (JCI) accredited facilities.

Bookimed Expert Insight: A notable pattern in Istanbul is the high patient volume at multi-specialty centers. Quartz Hospital is one such center. They serve over 6,500 patients annually. High patient volumes often lead to higher precision in aesthetic mole removal. Board-certified surgeons there use specialized techniques to minimize visible marking on the face.

Patient Consensus: Patients recommend seeing a dermatologist first for dermoscopy before any removal. Reviews highlight that plastic surgeons are often preferred for facial moles. The goal is better cosmetic results.

How long does the mole removal procedure take and how many trips to Istanbul are required?

A mole removal clinic visit in Istanbul usually takes 30 to 60 minutes. The actual removal procedure lasts only 5 to 20 minutes under local anesthesia. Most patients need just one trip for this outpatient treatment. It is often performed right after the consultation.

  • Procedure duration: Removal takes 5–20 minutes; the active laser treatment takes 10 minutes.
  • Clinical visit: Expect 30–60 minutes for numbing, prep, stitching, and aftercare.
  • Trips required: One trip is enough for cosmetic removal or same-day excision treatments.
  • Pathology results: Biopsy results usually take 1–2 weeks and are often sent online.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Many clinics like Quartz Hospital offer same-day removal. However, it’s best to schedule your visit early in the week. If you need a biopsy, major centers like Memorial Sisli can provide early updates. You may get them before you fly home. This way, you can avoid a second trip if you need further excision.

Patient Consensus: Patients say the local anesthetic injection is the only briefly uncomfortable part. Many appreciate the efficiency of having a dermatoscopy and removal in one visit. It usually takes about two hours.

How long do I need to stay in Istanbul for mole removal?

Most patients need 3 to 5 days in Istanbul for mole removal. This covers everything from the consultation to the follow-up. The procedure itself takes under 45 minutes. However, staying a few days allows for wound monitoring and initial healing before you fly. Laser treatments often require less time than surgical excision.

  • Travel duration: Plan 3 to 5 days for the full clinical process and initial recovery.
  • Procedure length: Most removals are outpatient and take between 15 and 45 minutes.
  • Wound care: Keep the area dry and covered for the first 24 to 48 hours.
  • Stitch removal: If you need stitches, the doctor usually removes them 5 to 10 days later.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Data shows that high-volume centers often use specialized dermatoscopy before removal. Anadolu Medical Center, an affiliate of Johns Hopkins, is one of them. The surgery is fast. However, some patients stay 1 week to make sure pathologists clear any excised tissue. This is especially true for those who have multiple moles removed during one visit.

Patient Consensus: Patients appreciate that consultations can happen on the same day. However, they recommend confirming a fixed surgery time. They also suggest bringing post-care supplies like Aquaphor or large bandages. These help manage the wound during the flight home.

How can I prepare for a mole removal procedure in Istanbul?

Preparing for mole removal in Istanbul involves a few steps. You'll need a specialist consultation and a review of your medical history. The team will also examine your skin with dermatoscopy. Patients should pause blood-thinning medications for 48 hours. They should also avoid sun exposure or skincare products on the treatment area. This helps make sure results are safe and effective.

  • Specialist selection: Choose Joint Commission International-accredited facilities or surgeons certified by the European Board of Plastic Surgery.
  • Medical disclosure: Provide a full list of supplements and allergies during your initial dermatoscopy session.
  • Skin preparation: Keep the area clean and free of lotions, creams, or makeup before surgery.
  • Lifestyle adjustments: Limit alcohol before the procedure to help tissue heal and recover faster.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Dermatology clinics are a common choice. However, choosing a plastic surgeon for facial mole removal is a smart move. Surgeons at clinics like Quartz Hospital or Db'est Clinic specialize in suturing techniques. Their suturing skills help minimize visible scarring. This is a frequent concern for cosmetic patients.

Patient Consensus: Recent patients emphasize bringing a prepared list of questions. This helps make sure the lead doctor performs the actual removal. They also highlight another key tip. Keeping the area moist and sun-protected for 2 weeks leads to much better results.

Does the price for mole removal in Istanbul include follow-up care?

Mole removal in Istanbul typically includes initial follow-up care. This care covers specialist consultations, local anesthesia, and suture removal. Clinics usually offer a follow-up appointment within the first 3 to 7 days. However, pathology lab fees for suspected malignancy are often charged separately.

  • Standard inclusions: Packages usually include surgical fees, local anesthesia, and initial wound care.
  • Pathology costs: Biopsy and histological analysis often cost extra.
  • Remote support: Clinics may offer virtual follow-up calls for international patients after they return home.
  • Package variations: Premium options may include 24-hour nursing care or hotel visits during recovery.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Data from high-volume centers like Quartz Hospital and Büyük Anadolu Hospitals reveals a pattern. Surgical follow-ups are standard, but pathology is the most common variable cost. Clinics focusing on international patients often bundle airport transfers and hotel stays into one price. This can save up to 60% compared to US averages. Always check if your quote covers the pathology report. Getting that report is essential for your medical peace of mind.

Patient Consensus: Patients emphasize the importance of requesting a written aftercare plan. Most report excellent clinical support. However, some patients noted that you may need to contact coordinators after leaving Turkey. This is to receive your lab results.
