The operation is carried out by a group of surgeons on a patient under general anesthesia. The procedure lasts for 2-3 hours. In case of open surgery, patients spend 2-3 days in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and around 2-3 weeks in general ward. Minimally invasive operation puts the body under less stress, so patients are usually dismissed within 1 day after the procedure.
