Dr. Kim Jin Gu is a Korean orthopedic surgeon who specializes in knee surgery and sports medicine. He is the Medical Director and the Sports Medicine Center Director at Myongji Hospital. Professor Kim Jin-gu is one of Korea’s leading orthopedic surgeons specializing in knee surgery and sports medicine. He is currently Medical Director of Myongji Hospital and Director of its Sports Medicine Center. His main areas of expertise include anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction, meniscus surgery and transplantation, knee arthroscopy, sports injuries, and knee joint replacement. For international patients, Professor Kim also provides pre-treatment online consultations, allowing patients to discuss their condition and treatment plan before traveling to Korea.
Professor Kim has played an important role in advancing ACL surgery in South Korea. In 2022, he surpassed 3,000 ACL reconstruction procedures after more than 25 years of experience in the field. He introduced advanced ACL reconstruction techniques after training at the University of Pittsburgh and has received multiple academic awards for his research in knee and sports medicine. His team has also worked with the CUVIS Joint robotic system for precision knee replacement surgery. During his tenure as Director of Myongji Hospital, the hospital received the Gold Award in the Social Responsibility category at the IHF Awards 2023 in Lisbon, Portugal.
