The prices at the Memorial clinic indicate that it claims to be a clinic not only with highly specialized specialists, but also for a clinic of high quality service. The general impression is that it is not worth it, for such amounts you at least expect to receive test results and a conclusion. I received the following services at the clinic: - tests One nurse took tests from me and another patient at the same time, and almost mixed up the labels on the test tubes. - doctor's consultations (gynecologist, dermatologist) The appointment of a dermatologist was not issued either digitally or in paper form, which caused problems during the subsequent treatment. In gynecology, there were two parts of the tests, some told me that they were good, but I didn’t receive any conclusion, nothing. The second told me that they would inform me by phone, but no one contacted me. - medical procedures I was signed up for medical procedures, but when they arrived, the nurses began to ask me how much the medicine cost, the price for which they wrote to me on a piece of paper a week before. A very strange way of determining which drug to inject a patient. I expected the assignment to be stored in an internal electronic system. - translation On the day of the consultation with the gynecologist, after waiting half an hour for a translator into Russian, they gave me an interpreter in English (post factum), in general, I made an understanding based on the results of the analysis, but unfortunately, I do not know the gynecological topic in English at the right level and ask some clarifying questions were already pointless.

FAQ about PRP Hair Loss Treatment in Turkey

These FAQs come from real patients seeking medical assistance through Bookimed. Answers are given by experienced medical coordinators and trusted clinic representatives.

What exactly is PRP hair treatment?

PRP hair treatment is a non-surgical regenerative procedure using concentrated autologous platelets from your own blood to stimulate dormant follicles. This three-step medical process delivers growth factors directly to the scalp, increasing hair density and shaft diameter for patients with early-stage thinning.

  • Procedure process: Surgeons draw blood, use a centrifuge for separation, and inject plasma into the scalp.
  • Treatment duration: Each outpatient session typically takes 30 to 60 minutes with minimal recovery downtime.
  • Success markers: Approximately 70% to 80% of patients see improved hair texture within 3 to 6 months.
  • Session frequency: Most protocols require 3 to 6 initial sessions spaced 4 to 6 weeks apart.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Turkish clinics often integrate PRP as a mandatory post-operative step for DHI hair transplants to accelerate healing. At ClinicExpert, packages include a PRP session to boost graft survival rates. Choosing a clinic like Hair Clinic, which has served over 20,000 patients, ensures access to specialists like Cengiz Yaylaci who pioneered oxygenated therapy to further reduce recovery time.

Patient Consensus: Patients describe the injections as feeling like deep acupuncture with a quick, relatively painless process when using numbing cream. Many report an initial shedding phase around week 2 before seeing noticeably thicker hair growth return.

What are the side effects and risks?

PRP hair loss treatment in Turkey is a low-risk autologous procedure using your own blood to stimulate follicles. Common side effects include mild scalp redness, swelling, and tenderness that typically resolve within 24 to 72 hours. Serious complications are rare since the treatment is non-surgical and biocompatible.

  • Scalp reaction: Mild redness, itching, or swelling usually fades within 3 days.
  • Temporary shedding: Minor hair loss may occur 1 to 2 weeks post-injection.
  • Procedural discomfort: Patients may experience transient headaches or scalp numbness for 24 hours.
  • Infection risk: Rare signs like fever or pus require immediate medical attention.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Data from high-volume centers like Hair Clinic and Quartz Hospital show that PRP is most effective as a support tool. While a single session costs $100 to $300, the best outcomes appear when combined with hair transplants. Clinics like ClinicExpert bundle PRP into surgery packages to boost graft survival rates significantly.

Patient Consensus: Most patients report only minor irritation and advise others not to panic if temporary shedding occurs shortly after treatment. They emphasize that while the procedure is quick, staying out of the sun and using gentle shampoos for 48 hours is essential for comfort.

Who is a good candidate for this treatment?

Ideal candidates for PRP hair loss treatment in Turkey include men and women experiencing early-stage thinning, specifically Norwood stages 2-4 or Ludwig stages 1-2. This non-surgical therapy is most effective for individuals with active hair follicles who possess stable hair loss patterns and overall good health.

  • Hair loss stage: Best for diffuse thinning within the last 5 years rather than complete baldness.
  • Health status: Candidates should be free from autoimmune disorders, active scalp infections, or severe anemia.
  • Post-transplant recovery: Patients undergoing FUE or DHI transplants use PRP to accelerate graft survival rates.
  • Age range: Younger patients in their 20s or 30s typically show the most robust response.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Data from top Istanbul clinics shows that combining PRP with hair transplantation is the gold standard for maximum density. Modern packages often include a complimentary PRP session to jumpstart graft recovery. For standalone treatment, clinics like Hair Clinic and Quartz Hospital suggest 3 to 4 sessions to see significant 20-30% improvements in hair thickness.

Patient Consensus: Patients emphasize that PRP works best as a density booster for thinning areas rather than a cure for a shiny scalp. Many recommend checking iron levels and stabilizing loss with medication before starting sessions to ensure the best long-term results.

When will I see results?

Patients typically notice reduced hair shedding within 4 weeks, while visible regrowth usually appears between 3 to 6 months. For significant density improvements, a full course of 3 to 4 sessions spaced 4 to 6 weeks apart is necessary to stimulate dormant follicles effectively.

  • Initial phase: Reduced hair loss and improved scalp health occur within the first 2-4 weeks.
  • Growth cycle: New hair sprouts are typically visible starting at the 3-month mark.
  • Peak results: Maximum density and hair thickness are generally achieved after 9-12 months.
  • Treatment frequency: Clinical standards recommend 3-4 initial sessions for optimal long-term success.

Bookimed Expert Insight: While single sessions cost $100 to $300, their effectiveness for regrowth is limited. Data from clinics like ClinicExpert shows that PRP delivers the best results when used as a surgical adjunct. Patients combining one PRP session with a DHI hair transplant often see faster healing and higher graft survival rates than with PRP alone.

Patient Consensus: Many patients find the treatment most effective for stabilizing early thinning. Success heavily depends on maintaining the 4-week session schedule, as missing appointments often resets the progress seen in hair density.

How many sessions will I need?

Most patients require an initial course of 4 to 6 sessions to see visible hair regrowth. These treatments are typically scheduled 4 weeks apart to match the hair growth cycle. Maintenance sessions are then performed 1 to 2 times per year.

  • Initial treatment phase: Complete 4 to 6 sessions for optimal follicular stimulation and thickness.
  • Results timeline: Noticeable improvement usually appears between sessions 2 and 3 (weeks 8–12).
  • Session frequency: Maintain strict 4-week spacing to avoid scalp inflammation and maximize efficacy.
  • Long-term upkeep: Schedule maintenance every 6 to 12 months to prevent benefits from fading.

Bookimed Expert Insight: While single sessions cost between $100 and $300, savvy patients look for hair transplant packages. Clinics like ClinicExpert bundle 1 session into transplant deals to accelerate graft healing. If doing PRP alone, booking a 4-session block upfront often secures better rates than individual appointments.

Patient Consensus: Patients emphasize that skipping sessions or compressing the timeline yields no benefits. Many recommend combining the injections with minoxidil for the best results during the 4-month initial phase.

Is the procedure painful?

PRP hair loss treatment in Turkey is generally well-tolerated and not considered painful. Most patients describe a mild stinging or pinching sensation during injections. Turkish clinics use topical lidocaine or local anesthesia to ensure comfort during the 20 to 30 minute outpatient procedure.

  • Anesthesia options: Topical lidocaine cream or local anesthetic injections numb the scalp effectively.
  • Injection tools: Some clinics use a PRP gun or Comfort-in Device for faster, needle-free delivery.
  • Pain rating: Patients typically rate discomfort between 3 and 5 out of 10.
  • Recovery sensation: Post-session scalp tenderness feels like a bad sunburn for 1 to 2 days.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Look for clinics offering the Comfort-in Device or oxygenated hair transplantation technology. These specialized tools significantly reduce pressure during injections. Combining PRP with these methods often results in a nearly painless experience compared to standard manual syringe techniques.

Patient Consensus: Patients report that while the initial injections cause a quick stinging feeling, the numbing cream makes the process very tolerable. Many suggest using ice packs afterward to quickly soothe the minor scalp heat and sensitivity.

Why is Turkey a top destination for PRP?

Turkey is a global leader for PRP therapy due to its massive hair restoration infrastructure and significant cost advantages. Over 500 specialized clinics in Istanbul alone utilize advanced centrifuge technology, providing high-density platelet concentrations that save patients up to 94% compared to US costs.

  • Cost efficiency: Per-session prices range from $100 to $300, significantly lower than Western averages.
  • Surgical synergy: Many top-rated clinics include free PRP sessions within hair transplant packages to accelerate healing.
  • Clinical expertise: Surgeons like Dr. Hakan Ikizoglu at Dr. MED possess over 24 years of experience.
  • Accredited facilities: Leading centers like Memorial Şişli Hospital hold JCI accreditation, ensuring international safety protocols.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Data shows Turkey's true advantage is the speed from blood draw to injection. High-volume clinics like Hair Clinic, serving 20,000+ patients, optimize this process to keep platelets viable. This `speed-to-scalp` protocol is a non-obvious factor that often leads to better growth results than slower Western boutique clinics.

Patient Consensus: Patients often highlight the seamless experience of 5-star hotel stays and VIP transfers included in their care. Many recommend combining PRP with existing treatments like minoxidil to maximize the density gains observed after 4-6 sessions.
