Dr. Shen Yuqin, MD, PhD, is Professor and Chief Physician at Shanghai Tongji Hospital. Dr. Shen directs the Rehabilitation Medicine Center and the Cardiac Rehabilitation Department. A doctoral supervisor and National Advanced Worker, Dr. Shen is a pioneer in cardiac rehabilitation for heart failure.
Dr. Shen was the first in China to implement cardiopulmonary exercise testing (CPET)-guided rehabilitation for heart failure. Dr. Shen also introduced the use of the anaerobic threshold to prescribe exercise intensity. The team created a nationwide hospital–community–home closed-loop model. In 2020, they opened Shanghai’s only inpatient cardiac rehabilitation ward in a tertiary hospital.
Dr. Shen is the principal investigator of two NSFC General Projects. Honors include the CRMA Science and Technology Award, First Prize (2019), and the Shanghai Rehabilitation Medicine Science and Technology Progress Awards, First Prize (2018, 2024). Dr. Jingsheng Zhou is the Head of Neurological Rehabilitation at Beijing United Family Rehabilitation Hospital.
