Over all, 10/10 highly recommend
I'm feeling better than expected regarding this procedure. I went in for one same-day crown, but ended up going with an overlay instead, due to the dentist’s recommendation. I appreciated that he was thorough in his explanation of why he recommended this different procedure. I also have to note that this procedure wasn’t able to be done in one day. So I did have to come back, but that is not necessarily the scheduler’s fault, or the doctor/ clinic’s fault, but just know to plan accordingly. You may have to make two visits, several weeks apart—the in-person consultation, and then the actual procedure several weeks later. If you’re looking for a same day crown, you might be able to. But you might have to plan for an extra visit, like I did. Just a heads up in case you are traveling for this procedure. Back to the procedure. I was slightly nervous as I had never had invasive dental work done before, let alone in another country. However, I feel like the care I received was top notch. The dentist was meticulous in checking my bite carefully multiple times to get it right. The front desk staff was very helpful and I appreciated that all spoke English. There were no additional expenses. It was a great experience! Over all, 10/10 highly recommend.
I had dental work done In Prague. The coordinator was excellent, answered all my questions and was helpful in getting the appointment scheduled. The doctor and staff were wonderful too. I’m very pleased with my experience, and would highly recommend.

I gave all aspects of my care five stars
If you're considering this procedure, I'd tell you that my experience was very straightforward. I went in for a single dental implant, and while I'm still in the early stages of healing, I feel about as expected. There have been no major surprises, which is a relief. Everyone on the team, from the surgeon to the clinic staff, was professional and capable. I gave all aspects of my care five stars. Things just went smoothly. The whole process was handled with a calm competence that I really valued throughout my time at the clinic.

Thank you for your very honest advice
I wanted to have crowns fitted on the implants I’d had placed in Germany. The very kind doctor then told me that, unfortunately, it wasn’t possible to fit the crowns because the implants had been placed incorrectly in Germany. Now, unfortunately, I have to ask for my money back and have the implants removed due to the risk of peri-implantitis. Had I known this, I would have had the entire treatment done at the Smile Centrum. Thank you for your very honest advice.
A modern clinic with friendly, professional staff. Communication with my agent was very reliable. I’d be happy to go back.
Please don’t reschedule appointments at such short notice. Please send the medical report sooner.

FAQ about Surgical extraction of tooth /root in Czech Republic

These FAQs come from real patients seeking medical assistance through Bookimed. Answers are given by experienced medical coordinators and trusted clinic representatives.

Is a surgical tooth extraction painful in the Czech Republic?

Surgical tooth extractions in the Czech Republic are not painful during the procedure. Clinics in Prague and Brno use modern local anesthesia to block pain completely. Patients may feel pressure or vibrations, but clinics offer conscious sedation or general anesthesia for complex cases or dental anxiety.

  • Anesthesia options: Local anesthesia is standard, while sedation or general anesthesia helps with complex extractions.
  • Technology used: Surgeons use CT scans and dental microscopes to increase precision and reduce trauma.
  • Post-operative care: Doctors prescribe standard analgesics like ibuprofen to manage soreness during the first week.
  • Recovery timeline: Peak discomfort or dry socket risks typically occur between days 3 and 5.

Bookimed Expert Insight: While local anesthesia is standard, leading clinics like Schill Dental Clinic Praha use dental microscopes with 26x magnification. This allows doctors to remove roots with minimal bone disruption. This precision often leads to faster healing compared to traditional manual extractions. Check if your clinic uses CT assessment first for better planning.

Patient Consensus: You should expect pressure and cracking sounds rather than sharp pain during the surgery. Patients suggest following a strict pain medication schedule and protecting the blood clot to prevent dry socket issues.

What is the recovery process like after surgical tooth/root extraction in the Czech Republic?

Recovery after surgical tooth extraction in the Czech Republic involves 2 to 3 days of significant discomfort, with full soft tissue healing taking 1 to 2 weeks. Czech clinics follow European safety protocols, focusing on blood clot stability and controlled swelling management to prevent complications like dry socket.

  • Healing timeline: Initial tissue closure takes 10 to 21 days after complex surgical procedures.
  • Clot protection: Patients must avoid rinsing, spitting, or using straws for the first 24 hours.
  • Swelling peak: Facial bruising and swelling usually reach their maximum intensity about 48 hours post-surgery.
  • Activity limits: Dentists recommend 2 to 3 days off work and no sports for 5 days.

Bookimed Expert Insight: While basic extractions are common, Czech centers like Schill Dental Clinic Prague use high-magnification microscopes to minimize bone trauma. This precision helps reduce post-operative inflammation. Choosing a clinic that uses digital CT scans for planning ensures a faster recovery by avoiding unnecessary tissue damage during the extraction.

Patient Consensus: Expect the swelling to peak on the second day, often resulting in temporary jaw stiffness. Patients suggest having soft foods and pain relief ready before the local anesthesia wears off to stay comfortable.

What is the difference between a simple and a surgical tooth/root extraction in the Czech Republic?

Simple tooth extraction in the Czech Republic involves removing visible teeth using forceps and elevators under local anesthesia. Surgical extraction requires an incision to create a gum flap, bone removal, or tooth sectioning for impacted, broken, or complex roots, usually involving sutures and longer recovery.

  • Procedure method: Simple extraction uses tools to lift the tooth; surgical requires gum incisions.
  • Clinical indications: Surgeons use surgical methods for impacted wisdom teeth or roots below the gum.
  • Wound closure: Surgical extractions always require stitches, while simple extractions typically heal without them.
  • Local anesthesia: Doctors perform both types as outpatient procedures using standard local numbing agents.
  • Cost differences: Simple extractions cost $110 while surgical procedures range from $90 to $210.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Czech clinics like Schill Dental Clinic use advanced tools like 26x magnification microscopes for these procedures. This precision allows doctors to identify curved roots early. Identifying these complexities before starting helps prevent unexpected transitions from a simple to a surgical approach during the chair time.

Patient Consensus: Patients should prepare for potential swelling after a surgical approach. It is helpful to ask if a simple extraction might convert to surgical if the tooth proves fragile.

How do I find an English-speaking oral surgeon or dentist for surgical tooth/root extraction in the Czech Republic?

To find an English-speaking oral surgeon in the Czech Republic, focus on private clinics in Prague, Brno, or Ostrava. Most specialists in these hubs are English-fluent and use digital protocols, including 3D Cone Beam CT and microscope-assisted surgery, for complex root or impacted tooth extractions.

  • Clinic selection: Target private centers like Schill Dental Clinic that offer specialized dental surgery.
  • Specialist search: Specifically request an oral surgeon or maxillofacial surgeon rather than a general dentist.
  • Digital diagnostics: Verify clinics use 3D planning and dental microscopes for precise surgical procedures.
  • Booking platforms: Use international medical platforms to filter for certified English-speaking specialists in Prague.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Bookimed data shows that leading clinics like Schill Dental Clinic in Prague provide a 5-year guarantee on dental services. This level of accountability is rare in general practice and usually signals a clinic serves a large volume of international patients who require long-term results.

Patient Consensus: Patients suggest emailing clinics directly to explain your surgical needs, as reception staff may have varying English levels compared to doctors. They recommend confirming on-site X-ray and sedation availability before your appointment to avoid being referred elsewhere.
