How Much Does Surgical extraction of tooth /root Cost in Turkey?

Surgical extraction of tooth /root in Turkey typically costs from $100 to $200 per tooth. Final pricing depends on the surgical complexity, such as bone removal requirements or tooth impaction, and the chosen sedation method. Patients save around 92% compared to the US, where the average cost is $1,200. Most clinics include the consultation, local anesthesia, and digital panoramic X-rays in the base price.

  • Impacted wisdom teeth: Expect to pay 20-40% more than standard surgical extractions due to complexity.
  • City variations: Prices in Istanbul dental hubs often run 15-20% higher than in Izmir or Ankara.
  • Sedation premiums: IV sedation or general anesthesia typically adds a significant premium to the base surgical fee.
  • Advanced surgical techniques: Procedures requiring ostectomy or cyst removal are priced higher than routine root extractions.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Choosing a large-scale provider like Hospitadent Dental Group, which treats 150,000 patients annually, ensures standardized pricing and TEMOS accreditation. For those seeking efficiency, YEG Clinic in Istanbul utilizes an in-house laboratory to coordinate extractions with rapid restorative work. Patients can often find all-inclusive value in Antalya, where Soraca Med bundles surgical services with local transportation and 24/7 support.

In 3 months I will come, we will put on crowns;)🌷🇹🇷😎
This was my first trip to Istanbul. Coordinator Tatyana contacted me through Bookimed. With great patience and understanding of the problem, taking into account my very specific needs and wishes, the program and clinic were selected for me. It was about the implantation of 3 teeth, and the removal of 2 complex roots. I was very worried about the trip, Tatyana reassured me, said that the clinic provides both a transfer and an interpreter, this is included in the program. They even sent me a photo of where they would meet me. The way from the airport was long (by the standards of the country from which I came), but comfortable, I even knew how to watch a movie on Netflix in a limousine, which I had noticed for a long time. I was greeted at the clinic by the friendly, nice and competent Zülal, the Russian speaking coordinator of the clinic. The problem with a little trouble was quickly resolved, and at my request, the extraction of teeth and implantation were performed under anesthesia, the so-called sedation. I was counting on terrible pain, swelling and bruising (these are not the first implants that I put in my country) ... Imagine my surprise when in the morning there was no pain, no bruising, or even swelling! I was given antibiotics, and rinses, painkillers, which I never needed because there was no pain. I ate soft and liquid food after 2 hours. And now I'm eating a whole meal! In 3 months I will come, we will put on crowns;)🌷🇹🇷😎 I highly recommend the clinic, it has really qualified and competent specialists. With gratitude, Elena 🇺🇦 Ukraine - 🇨🇭 Switzerland

I recommend!
A wonderful clinic, in Russia one child was offered expensive orthodontic treatment, and the other was offered a filling, in this clinic, to wait 11 years and start treatment, so I understand that doctors in Russia cheated on money. I had my wisdom tooth removed very successfully, without complications. I am very satisfied with the quality of treatment and the prices are quite reasonable! I recommend!

FAQ about Surgical extraction of tooth /root in Turkey

These FAQs come from real patients seeking medical assistance through Bookimed. Answers are given by experienced medical coordinators and trusted clinic representatives.

Is surgical tooth/root extraction in Turkey safe?

Surgical tooth and root extraction in Turkey is safe when performed by Turkey Medical Association-certified oral surgeons in licensed facilities. Clinics utilize 3D CBCT imaging and piezosurgery to protect nerves during impacted tooth removal, maintaining international hygiene standards comparable to European Union protocols.

  • Specialist expertise: Procedures are led by maxillofacial surgeons with up to 31 years of experience.
  • Advanced diagnostics: 3D CBCT scans map bone structures to prevent nerve damage during root extraction.
  • Sterilization protocols: Top centers hold ISO and JCI accreditations, ensuring high-pressure autoclave safety.
  • Success rates: Leading Istanbul clinics report success rates of 97% to 99% for complex procedures.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Quality indicators in Turkey are tied to patient volume and specific technology partnerships. High-capacity centers like Hospitadent serve 100,000 patients annually and use original Straumann materials. Choosing a clinic that is an official partner of global manufacturers often guarantees better long-term outcomes and genuine components.

Patient Consensus: Patients emphasize the importance of 3D imaging for a painless experience. Most recommend a 7-day stay to ensure proper healing before flying home.

Is the procedure painful?

Surgical tooth extraction in Turkey is generally painless due to high-quality local anesthesia. Patients typically feel only pressure or vibrations during the procedure. Post-operative discomfort is common but manageable, usually peaking within 24 to 72 hours before subsiding during the first week of recovery.

  • Anesthesia standards: Clinics use long-lasting local anesthetics to ensure comfort during and immediately after surgery.
  • Peak discomfort: Patients typically experience the most swelling and soreness during the first 3 days.
  • Pain management: Turkish specialists provide detailed aftercare plans including scheduled medication to prevent severe pain.
  • Recovery aids: Elevating the head and using ice packs for 24 hours significantly reduces throbbing.

Bookimed Expert Insight: While many expect pain to correlate with lower costs, Turkey’s high success rates stem from specialist experience. For instance, Dr. Erhan Firat at TWT Health Clinic utilizes minimally invasive techniques refined over 31 years. This expertise, combined with advanced technology at centers like Hospitadent, helps minimize tissue trauma and shortens the inflammatory phase of healing.

Patient Consensus: Most patients report feeling only a tugging sensation during the surgery. They emphasize that staying ahead of the pain with scheduled medication is much more effective than waiting for discomfort to start.

What is the recovery timeline after a surgical extraction?

Initial healing of the gum tissue after a surgical extraction in Turkey typically takes 7 to 14 days. While surface tissues close relatively quickly, the underlying jawbone requires 3 to 6 months to fully regenerate and remodel before supporting permanent dental implants.

  • Initial stage: Rest for 48 hours to allow a stable blood clot to form properly.
  • Peak swelling: Inflammation and discomfort typically reach their highest intensity between days 2 and 4.
  • Suture removal: Clinicians generally remove non-dissolvable stitches during a follow-up appointment after 7 to 14 days.
  • Functional recovery: Most patients return to normal dietary habits and full activity within 2 to 4 weeks.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Data from high-volume centers like Hospitadent Dental Group shows that rushing the timeline for follow-up implants is a common risk. While gums look healed at 6 weeks, waiting the full 4 to 6 months for bone remodeling significantly increases long-term implant success rates.

Patient Consensus: Patients emphasize that swelling and bruising between days 2 and 4 are often more intense than expected. Many recommend arranging a local dentist for check-ups once you return home to monitor for issues like dry socket.

Can I have a dental implant placed immediately after the extraction?

You can have a dental implant placed immediately after extraction if you have sufficient jawbone density and no active infection. This immediate implant procedure combines tooth removal and titanium post insertion into a single appointment, potentially saving 3 to 6 months of total treatment time.

  • Bone requirements: Sufficient height and density are essential to anchor the implant firmly after extraction.
  • Infection control: Active abscesses or deep gum disease usually require healing before safe implant placement.
  • Aesthetic benefits: Surgeons can often attach a temporary crown immediately, preventing a visible smile gap.
  • Success rates: Immediate placement typically sees 85% to 95% success compared to 95% in healed bone.

Bookimed Expert Insight: High-volume clinics like Hospitadent Dental Group perform thousands of these procedures annually using advanced CEREC technology for same-day restorations. However, data shows that 20% to 30% bone resorption can still occur in the first year after immediate placement. I recommend choosing a surgeon with a PhD in Maxillofacial Surgery, like Dr. Ismail Sener, who can properly assess if your extraction site truly supports immediate loading.

Patient Consensus: Many patients appreciate the convenience of fewer visits but warn that bone quality often looks different once the tooth is out. You should have a backup plan for delayed placement if your surgeon finds the extraction site is too traumatic for an immediate anchor.

How long should I stay in Turkey for a surgical extraction?

A surgical extraction in Turkey typically requires a 3 to 5-day stay to monitor initial healing. While simple extractions allow travel within 48 hours, complex cases involving impacted teeth or multiple roots need a longer window to ensure blood clot stability before flying.

  • Travel timeline: Plan to stay 3–5 days for complex or impacted extractions.
  • Flight safety: Wait at least 72 hours before flying to avoid pressure-related pain.
  • Suture management: Many Turkish clinics use dissolvable stitches to eliminate the 7-day removal visit.
  • Peak recovery: Stay near your clinic during days 2–4 when swelling typically peaks.

Bookimed Expert Insight: While many sources suggest 3 days is enough, our data from high-volume centers like Hospitadent shows that patients having multiple extractions or `full mouth` preparation should budget 5–7 days. This extra buffer is critical because Turkish oral surgeons often perform these extractions as the first step of a larger treatment plan, requiring specific stability before the next phase begins.

Patient Consensus: Patients recommend scheduling the surgery early in the trip to allow a 4-day recovery buffer. They often suggest staying longer than a weekend to manage swelling comfortably before facing a long international flight.

What are the key post-operative care guidelines?

Post-operative care for surgical tooth extraction in Turkey focuses on clot preservation, swelling management, and infection prevention. Patients must bite gauze for 60 minutes, avoid rinsing for 24 hours, and use cold compresses. Adhering to these steps ensures safe recovery before flying home from JCI or Turkish Medical Association (TMA) accredited clinics.

  • Clot protection: Avoid rinsing, spitting, or using straws for the first 24 hours.
  • Swelling control: Apply ice packs 20 minutes on and off for 48 hours.
  • Dietary restrictions: Stick to soft foods like yogurt and soup for 3 to 7 days.
  • Activity limits: Avoid strenuous exercise and flying for 5 to 7 days post-surgery.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Many patients underestimate the impact of cabin pressure on fresh surgical sites. Data from high-volume centers like Hospitadent Dental Group suggests planning 5 to 7 days of local rest. This buffer allows surgeons to monitor the initial healing phase via WhatsApp before you fly. This practice significantly reduces the risk of pain spikes during your return journey.

Patient Consensus: Patients emphasize that swelling typically peaks on day 3 before improving. Many warn that smoking significantly increases dry-socket risks and recommend quitting several days before the procedure.

Will the surgical extraction of a tooth or root in Turkey be painful?

Surgical tooth or root extraction in Turkey consists of pain-free steps. Clinics use local anaesthesia to numb the area completely. Specialists like Dr Eren Pera at Hospitaprime Clinic provide sedation or general anaesthesia. These options help nervous patients or those with complex cases stay comfortable during the procedure.

  • Anaesthesia options: Surgeons offer local anaesthesia, sedation, or general anaesthesia for complex impacted teeth.
  • Effective technology: Clinics use 3D imaging for precise planning. This reduces tissue trauma and postoperative pain.
  • Maxillofacial expertise: Oral surgeons like Dr Ismail Sener specialise in complicated extractions to minimise recovery time.
  • Postoperative care: Patients receive detailed medication plans. Turkey specialists often provide 24/7 monitoring during the initial recovery.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Look for clinics like Bahçeşehir University Dental Hospital with dedicated on-site recovery units. These facilities are better equipped for patients needing general anaesthesia for multiple root extractions. Having 5-bed postoperative units allows for safer monitoring while the anaesthesia wears off.

Patient Consensus: Patients in Turkey report feeling pressure and hearing drilling noises rather than sharp pain. Recovery involves facial swelling and throbbing. Patients must follow the clinic's pain medication instructions to remain comfortable.

Can I have a dental implant placed immediately after a surgical tooth extraction in Turkey?

Patients can receive a dental implant immediately after a surgical extraction in Turkey. This procedure is called immediate implant placement. It is common in specialised Turkish centres. Success depends on healthy jawbone density and no active infection at the extraction site.

  • Clinical requirements: Sufficient stable bone must exist to secure the implant immediately after extraction.
  • Expert assessment: Surgeons at clinics like Suave Dental in Istanbul use 3D imaging first.
  • Brand options: Clinics use original materials from Straumann, Nobel Biocare, and Osstem for these procedures.
  • Alternative approach: If infection is present, specialists recommend waiting 10–12 weeks for proper healing.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Many clinics advertise same-day implants. However, Bookimed data shows high-volume centres like Hospitadent Dental Group perform over 100,000 procedures annually. Their surgeons often suggest a staged approach if the extraction is particularly traumatic. This protects the long-term success of the A$80 to A$200 surgical extraction.

Patient Consensus: Many patients visiting Turkey found that difficult surgical extractions often require a staged approach. They suggest requesting a plan based on CT scans to confirm travel requirements. This helps determine if one or two trips are needed.

How should I manage my recovery, pain and swelling after a surgical tooth extraction in Turkey?

Managing recovery after a surgical tooth extraction in Turkey involves protecting the blood clot. Patients should control inflammation with ice packs and take prescribed pain relief on a strict schedule. Rest with the head elevated. Avoid suction-causing activities like using straws for at least 72 hours.

  • Ice therapy: Apply ice packs for 20-minute intervals during the first 24-48 hours.
  • Clot protection: Avoid spitting, smoking, or using straws to prevent painful dry sockets.
  • Soft diet: Stick to cool, soft foods like yoghurt and mashed potato initially.
  • Gentle hygiene: Start warm salt-water rinses 24 hours post-surgery to keep the site clean.
  • Pain management: Take medications as directed by the surgeon before discomfort becomes severe.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Many local clinics offer basic extractions. However, university-affiliated centres like Bahçeşehir University Dental Hospital provide 5-bed postoperative units and sedation. This level of monitoring helps Australians undergoing complex surgical root removals or bone grafting.

Patient Consensus: The first 72 hours are typically the most challenging for swelling and discomfort. Patients found success by taking scheduled medication. Many switched to gentle heat if jaw stiffness persisted after the initial icing phase.

What is the difference between a simple and a surgical tooth extraction in Turkey?

In Turkey, simple extractions involve removing visible teeth with forceps. Surgical extractions address impacted or broken teeth and roots below the gumline. Surgical cases require gum incisions, jawbone removal, or tooth sectioning by oral surgeons. Procedures cost from $100 to $200. This saves up to 92% over Australian averages.

  • Simple extraction: Used for non-impacted teeth clearly visible above the gumline.
  • Surgical approach: Necessary for impacted wisdom teeth, buried roots, or severely decayed fragments.
  • Anaesthesia options: Specialists offer local anaesthesia, sedation, or general anaesthesia for complex surgeries.
  • Specialist expertise: Maxillofacial surgeons like Dr. Eren Pera handle intricate bone and nerve cases.
  • Clinical facilities: Bahçeşehir University Dental Hospital provides sedation units and postoperative recovery beds.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Simple extractions are routine. Bookimed data shows high-volume Turkish clinics use university-affiliated specialists for surgical cases. This helps manage nerve proximity. Large groups like Hospitadent serve 150,000+ patients annually. They follow standardised safety protocols for complex surgical extractions that smaller studios might lack.

Patient Consensus: Patients in Turkey find simple removals quick and easy. Most return to normal activities within days. Surgical extractions involve more swelling and stitches. Patients should confirm if follow-up telehealth is available before returning to Australia.

How long should I stay in Turkey after a surgical tooth extraction?

Patients should stay in Turkey for 2 to 3 days after a surgical tooth extraction. This window allows for a post-operative check to monitor swelling and healing. Most specialists advise waiting 48 to 72 hours before flying to avoid pressure complications.

  • Flying window: Wait 48–72 hours after surgery to prevent bleeding or dislodging the blood clot.
  • Clinical review: Schedule a post-op check 1–2 days after surgery to confirm tissue healing.
  • Surgical observation: Clinics like Bahçehir University Dental Hospital provide 5-bed units for immediate post-op monitoring.
  • Monitoring access: Choose clinics like Soraca Med that offer 24/7 monitoring during the first 3 days.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Bookimed data shows several Turkish university hospitals provide full operating theatres and recovery beds. While a local clinic is fine for simple extractions, surgical cases should use hospitals. Prioritise hospitals with dedicated 24/7 monitoring if you require sedation or general anaesthesia.

Patient Consensus: Plan to stay 24–72 hours after surgery as pain and swelling usually peak then. Booking a post-op review ensures the dentist can check for infection or dry socket.
