-I was lucky that I went to the website "Bukimed"
I'll start with the most important thing. The most important thing in a huge sea of information is to choose the right "light", "lighthouse", which will point the way to a person who finds himself in this abyss with a limited time and money limit. I was lucky that I went to the website "Bukimed". I was contacted by coordinating physician Ivan Koval, who was very tactful and at the same time confidently leading me forward. I rushed from one clinic to another, from one operator to another, he calmly explained to me all the pros and cons and was support even when I already completely refused his help and tuned in to another operator. Even then, he very tactfully warned about possible pitfalls and continued to be an assistant. As a result, I took his advice and did not regret it. Hi Medical is very sympathetic to customers, helps with everything, tries to reduce customer costs, where possible. Organizes as quickly as possible consultations and time-examination. Special thanks to Victoria, who spins like a squirrel in a wheel to keep everything in order, always in touch and will not rest until the matter is brought to an end. My treatment is not yet complete, but I'm glad that I got into such a nice team, which brightens up, as much as possible, a person's life one-to-one with his illness. Thank you and for a healthy sense of humor, it also helps to overcome illness!))) And, still. Ivan was in touch with me throughout his stay in Israel. He was convinced that I flew, I was met and I was engaged. He made sure that I get everything that was promised. And after my return home, too, remains in touch, helping in my next steps. Thanks for the help!

"I'm pleased now about the hospital and the treatment I got was great"
I'm pleased now about the hospital and the treatment I got was great, everything was done very fast(blood test, etc), the hospital has new equipment and it is really great. The price is higher to compare with Europe, but it is justified. One thing that I don't like that is I have a bad connection with a doctor after my consultation and every question that I had I could provide through middle-man only that is why it was not so fust. Also, the English level of the stuff was not so good.

FAQ about Leukemia chemotherapy in Israel

These FAQs come from real patients seeking medical assistance through Bookimed. Answers are given by experienced medical coordinators and trusted clinic representatives.

What is the focus of leukemia chemotherapy in Israel?

Leukemia chemotherapy in Israel focuses on achieving long-term remission through personalized molecular diagnostics and advanced immunotherapy. Leading oncologists at JCI-accredited centers utilize intensive protocols like HyperCVAD alongside CAR T-cell therapy and targeted agents to eliminate malignant cells while minimizing damage to healthy tissue.

  • Molecular diagnostics: Doctors use Foundation One CDx testing to identify specific genetic mutations.
  • CAR T-cell therapy: Specialists reprogram immune cells to target refractory or relapsed leukemia cases.
  • Stem cell integration: Intensive chemotherapy often bridges to transplants at centers like Rambam Medical Center.
  • Pediatric specialization: Dedicated facilities like Dana Dwek Children hospital provide specialized European-certified care.

Bookimed Expert Insight: While many countries offer standard chemotherapy, Israeli centers like Sourasky Medical Center integrate genomic mapping directly into the initial induction phase. This approach allows doctors to select specific targeted drugs immediately. It explains why some adult protocols achieve such high remission rates compared to generic treatments.

Patient Consensus: Patients value the rapid treatment pipeline, often starting therapy within 14 days of referral. Many appreciate the access to clinical trials for haploidentical transplants when matched donors are unavailable.

What makes leukemia treatment in Israel advanced?

Leukemia treatment in Israel is advanced due to rapid integration of CAR T-cell therapy, specialized genetic testing like Foundation One CDx, and high-volume stem cell transplantation. Leading Joint Commission International (JCI)-accredited facilities achieve over 90% remission rates for specific blood cancers using personalized chemo-biologic protocols.

  • Cellular engineering: Israeli hospitals genetically modify patient immune cells on-site to target specific cancer proteins.
  • Genetic diagnostics: Specialists use molecular gene mapping to identify precise mutations for targeted drug therapies.
  • Pediatric expertise: Specialized protocols at facilities like Ruth Rappaport Children’s Hospital achieve high remission rates.
  • Stem cell volume: High-volume centers perform complex allogenic and haploidentical transplants with specialized side-effect management.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Israeli oncology centers like Sourasky Medical Center (Ichilov) manage 40,000 cancer patients annually, creating a massive data pool for personalized medicine. This clinical volume allows doctors like Dr. Ron Ram to implement new protocols, such as chemo-biologic treatments, much faster than traditional regulatory environments in other regions.

Patient Consensus: Patients value the speed of Israeli protocols, noting that custom CAR-T immunotherapy and newer chemo-biologic therapies often result in more manageable side effects and higher success rates than standard global treatments.

How is the treatment plan personalized in Israel?

Treatment personalization in Israel targets specific molecular signatures through advanced genetic profiling and tumor DNA analysis. Specialists use these results to select customized drugs, including homegrown CAR-T cell therapies and targeted inhibitors, while adjusting regimens based on real-time data from repeat biopsies and induction therapy outcomes.

  • Genetic profiling: Doctors identify specific mutations like IDH1/IDH2 to guide targeted inhibitor selection.
  • Customized immunotherapy: Homegrown CAR-T therapy uses a patient’s own immune cells for treatment.
  • Dynamic monitoring: Protocols are adjusted based on findings from frequent, real-time repeat biopsies.
  • Stratified intensity: Older patients receive lower-intensity regimens like venetoclax to improve safety.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Israeli oncology centers like Sourasky Medical Center (Ichilov) leverage massive patient volumes, treating 40,000 cancer patients yearly. This scale allows clinics to refine `homegrown` cellular therapies that are often more accessible than commercial alternatives. Patients should prioritize facilities with JCI accreditation and doctors like Ronit El Hasid, who has performed over 300 transplantations.

Patient Consensus: Patients value how doctors adapt treatments following induction therapy results rather than sticking to a static plan. Many emphasize the importance of requesting comprehensive genetic testing early to ensure the most effective inhibitor is chosen.

What types of chemotherapy administration are used?

Chemotherapy administration for leukemia encompasses intravenous infusions, oral medications, and specialized injections. Most patients receive intensive intravenous treatment within JCI-accredited facilities like Sourasky Medical Center. These methods ensure drugs enter the bloodstream directly to target cancer cells throughout the body during induction and consolidation phases.

  • Intravenous infusion: Includes short bolus or continuous delivery via PICC lines and ports.
  • Oral administration: Pills or liquids often used to supplement intravenous regimens during consolidation.
  • Intrathecal delivery: Drugs injected into cerebrospinal fluid to treat or prevent central nervous system involvement.
  • Venous access devices: Surgeons often implant ports to minimize discomfort from frequent needle sticks.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Israeli oncology centers like Sourasky or Rambam prioritize PICC lines or ports for leukemia. This setup is crucial because intensive induction protocols usually require a 30-day hospital stay with constant infusions. Using a permanent port prevents vein damage and simplifies the 4–6 day monthly consolidation cycles.

Patient Consensus: Patients emphasize the importance of central lines for managing aggressive IV schedules and suggest requesting printed drug schedules to track progress. They frequently mention the high level of professionalism during video consultations with specialized hemato-oncologists.

What supportive care is offered during chemotherapy?

Supportive care during leukemia chemotherapy in Israel includes comprehensive medical, psychological, and practical services to manage symptoms. Patients receive blood transfusions for anemia, nausea medication, and nutritional counseling. Leading centers provide specialized oncology rehabilitation, psycho-oncology support, and genetic molecular diagnostics to tailor treatment.

  • Blood support: Transfusions of platelets and blood manage anemia and low hemoglobin levels.
  • Physical rehab: Specialized oncological rehabilitation programs improve stamina and manage functional physical challenges.
  • Psycho-oncology: Dedicated oncological psychiatrists and counselors address anxiety, depression, and chemo-brain symptoms.
  • Social support: Organizations like Beit Natan provide essential practical assistance and community resources.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Israeli hospitals like Sourasky Medical Center integrate JCI-accredited care with free international support. While induction chemotherapy often requires a 30-day hospital stay, these clinics bundle interpreters and airport transfers. This reduces the logistical burden on families during the most intensive treatment phases.

Patient Consensus: Patients recommend packing a survival bag with moisturizers and favorite snacks to supplement brand hospital food. Having a dedicated caregiver is vital for navigating the long induction periods and managing daily needs.
