I really liked the cardiolith clinic, also the medical team, the doctors who served me behaved professionally and were at a high level, for which I am very grateful to them. The only negative is the services of an interpreter. I think that the translation should be on the letterhead of the clinic and each medical specialist separately, and not on simple sheets of A4 format, where everything is printed in a row as a plain text.

It was not very pleasant that after paying a fairly round sum for the examinations, they were forced to wait for reception in the general queue. Perhaps it is difficult to organize, but I would like some other relationship for my money. The specialists are generally friendly and professional, but some of them will not give too much advice, because this is not included in the paid program.

Excellent clinic
Excellent clinic. Almost all the staff speaks Russian, but it is better to communicate with young employees in English. The price is fully consistent with the quality of service.

"Initially advised by friends and very satisfied
I am happy with everything, the reception and everything. I didn’t get what I wanted, but in principle, everything that was possible from this reception was done to me, so I have no complaints against the doctors, except that the situation did not resolve as I wanted. In principle, I am very pleased with the reception and attention. They took a blood test from me and did it during the day and the doctor’s reception is very attentive. Bookimed always calls back, asks. Initially advised by friends and very satisfied.

I'm glad that it vibrated cardiolite, I recommend it to everyone
Go back to a higher category. It's more pleasant in obscenity. Everything was explained in detail. They advised me to be gentler. I'm glad that it vibrated cardiolite, I recommend it to everyone. In the register, it could be more painful.

FAQ about Medical check-up in Lithuania

These FAQs come from real patients seeking medical assistance through Bookimed. Answers are given by experienced medical coordinators and trusted clinic representatives.

What diagnostic tests are included in a standard health check-up package in Lithuania?

Standard health check-ups in Lithuania include comprehensive laboratory tests, instrumental diagnostics, and specialist consultations. Programs typically cover complete blood counts, metabolic panels, and lipid profiles. Most evaluations at JCI-accredited facilities like Meliva Kardiolita Hospital are completed within 1–2 days. These packages aim for early detection of chronic conditions.

  • Laboratory tests: Includes complete blood count, glucose, and liver and kidney function markers.
  • Cardiovascular screening: Packages routinely feature a resting electrocardiogram (ECG) and blood pressure monitoring.
  • Imaging diagnostics: Standard assessments often include abdominal ultrasounds and thyroid structural evaluations.
  • Specialist reviews: Internal medicine doctors or general practitioners provide a final results summary.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Vilnius clinics like the Medical Diagnostic and Treatment Center serve 60,000 patients yearly. Their high diagnostic volume allows them to offer same-day blood results. This is ideal for international patients. Clinics often bundle these services with airport transfers to minimize travel stress. Confirming these inclusions beforehand helps avoid extra logistics costs during your visit.

Patient Consensus: Patients value the speed of testing but note that wait times in general queues can happen. It is smart to request results on official clinic letterheads for easier records management.

Is English spoken by doctors in Lithuanian medical facilities used by international patients?

English is the primary communication language for international patients in Lithuanian private clinics. Most specialists in major hubs like Vilnius and Kaunas are fluent. Facilities catering to foreigners often have a 90% English-speaking staff rate. Younger physicians and specialists typically possess high proficiency.

  • Clinic accreditation: Top centers like Meliva Kardiolita Hospital hold JCI accreditation for safety.
  • Doctor expertise: Over 510 specialists work at Meliva Kardiolita, many serving Western patients.
  • Specialized centers: Medical Diagnostic and Treatment Center serves patients from the UK and Norway.
  • Communication support: Private facilities include English-speaking coordinators to manage logistics and medical translations.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Data shows a clear age-based language trend in Lithuanian medical centers. While senior consultants are highly skilled, patients should prioritize younger staff for the most fluid English. Centers like Medical Diagnostic and Treatment Center report that 1 in 10 patients are international. This high volume keeps staff communication skills sharp through daily practice with foreigners.

Patient Consensus: Patients note that while doctors speak excellent English, some administrative staff still prefer local languages. It is helpful to have medical records in English as backup, though most specialists can review them without issues.

Which Lithuanian cities offer the best medical facilities for routine health check-ups?

Vilnius and Kaunas are the primary hubs for medical check-ups in Lithuania. Vilnius offers the highest concentration of JCI-accredited facilities specializing in rapid diagnostics. These centers provide comprehensive health assessments with same-day results for international patients. Modern technology and English-speaking staff are standard in these urban centers.

  • Clinic credentials: Meliva Kardiolita Hospital in Vilnius is JCI-accredited and employs 510 doctors.
  • High volume: Medical Diagnostic and Treatment Center performs over 300,000 examinations every year.
  • Patient capacity: Meliva Kardiolita Hospital serves 298,000 patients annually across 33 medical departments.
  • Diagnostic speed: Vilnius facilities can process full blood panels including cancer markers within 2 hours.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Our data shows a clear distinction between the two major cities. Vilnius clinics like the Medical Diagnostic and Treatment Center focus on high-speed diagnostics for 60,000+ yearly patients. Meanwhile, Kaunas facilities often provide more affordable options. To save time, choose Vilnius centers that offer same-day testing and English-speaking staff as a standard service.

Patient Consensus: Patients value the professional behavior of doctors and often recommend Vilnius for its efficient one-day screening programs. Some travelers note that while staff are professional, it is helpful to use English when communicating with younger medical employees.

Do foreign visitors receive free healthcare in Lithuania during health check-ups?

Foreign visitors do not receive free healthcare in Lithuania for medical check-ups. Access is restricted to residents with Compulsory Health Insurance (PSD). EU citizens with a European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) only receive emergency care. Scheduled diagnostics require upfront payment at public or private facilities.

  • Insurance status: Free care requires active Compulsory Health Insurance (PSD) coverage.
  • EU visitors: EHIC cards exclude elective screenings and routine wellness examinations.
  • Private clinics: Medical Diagnostic and Treatment Center serves 60,000+ patients annually.
  • Hospital capacity: Meliva Kardiolita Hospital manages 33 departments for international adults.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Private clinics in Lithuania prioritize efficiency for international visitors. Large centers like Medical Diagnostic and Treatment Center report that 1 in 10 patients comes from abroad. These facilities often combine diagnostics into one-day programs. This avoids the general queues common in public hospitals. Choosing JCI-accredited clinics ensures safety standards match those in the USA.

Patient Consensus: Visitors note that while prices are fair, you must pay before seeing any specialist. Many recommend using English or Russian to communicate with staff for faster results.

What documentation should international travelers carry for health check-ups in Lithuania?

International travelers for health check-ups in Lithuania must carry a valid passport or ID card. Non-EU residents need proof of medical insurance covering at least €30,000. Documentation should include a medical history summary, current medication lists, and vaccination records. Private clinics often require less paperwork for international patients.

  • Identification: Carry a passport valid for 3 months beyond your stay.
  • Insurance proof: Bring certificates showing coverage for hospitalization and medical repatriation.
  • Medical records: Provide recent lab results and imaging reports on CD format.
  • Medication list: Use original prescription bottles clearly showing your name and dosage.
  • Emergency contacts: Include your home doctor's info and your documented blood type.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Clinics like Meliva Kardiolita Hospital and the Medical Diagnostic and Treatment Center serve over 340,000 patients annually. These facilities are JCI-accredited and highly streamlined for foreigners. Our data shows these private centers often provide digital forms via email before you arrive. Completing these early prevents delays in their busy diagnostic schedules.

Patient Consensus: Patients suggest bringing printed English translations of your history rather than relying on digital copies. One patient noted that having official clinic letterheads for all translated documents helps avoid administrative confusion during consultations.
