How Much Does ApiFix system implantation Cost in Antalya ?

ApiFix system implantation in Antalya typically costs from $14,500 to $22,000. The final price depends on the clinic accreditation, surgeon experience, and specific curvature complexity. Antalya generally offers more competitive pricing than Istanbul for specialized scoliosis care. Patients save around 75% compared to the US, where this procedure costs $65,000 on average. In Antalya, costs usually cover the implant, surgeon fees, hospital stay, pre-operative exams, and airport transfers.

  • Traditional spinal fusion: Cost is typically 15-20% higher than internal bracing.
  • Clinical excellence: Higher prices reflect JCI accreditation and international safety standards.
  • Complex spinal cases: Severe curves require longer monitoring, adding to logistical costs.
  • Advanced imaging: Comprehensive pre-surgical MRIs and ECGs are included in most rates.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Antalya is a major Mediterranean hub for orthopedic surgery. It attracts patients who want high-volume centers with fewer wait times than Istanbul. Specialist Dr. Firat Oruc has 20 years of orthopedic experience. Hospitals like Memorial Antalya Hospital hold JCI accreditation. This ensures top-tier safety for pediatric scoliosis patients. We recommend choosing clinics that include long-term post-operative monitoring for spinal adjustments.

Doctors at the highest level
PLUSES Doctors at the highest level...professionalism, attention, responsibility felt during the whole stay...nothing unnecessary was said...no promises were made that could not be realised later...we were very satisfied with the results of their work.... Medical equipment may not be the latest models, but the penultimate certainly ... The food is very tasty... The facilities in the ward create a comfortable stay... The location of the clinic is good... Many hotels of different categories within walking distance..... MINUSES The medical staff and service staff (cleaning of the ward) wish to be better...the clinic needs a little more review of the process of care of medical staff for patients...at night when the patient before surgery or after surgery should gain strength and rest, begins frequent going to the room...then the temperature to measure, then the pressure, then remembering about the drip to connect the next or remove the forgotten.... Another disadvantage is the proposal-proform with an indication of what services are included in the paid amount, and which are not ... I would like a more specific list...taking into account that the treatment plan has changed, the amount to be paid has also changed, and there is always a question whether it is paid or whether it is necessary to pay additionally...which causes inconvenience and worries "whether you have enough money".... The general impression of the clinic was good...despite the disadvantages.....
Professionalism of the medical team
Nursing and housekeeping.
About Bookimed service

FAQ about treatment in Turkey

These FAQs come from real patients seeking medical assistance through Bookimed. Answers are given by experienced medical coordinators and trusted clinic representatives.

Who is a good candidate for ApiFix system implantation in Antalya?

Good candidates for ApiFix implantation in Antalya are adolescents with idiopathic scoliosis who have a single major curve (Lenke 1 or 5). Patients must have a Cobb angle between 35 and 60 degrees, enough spinal flexibility, and kyphosis under 55 degrees to qualify for this motion-preserving treatment.

  • Curve type: Only single major thoracic or thoracolumbar curves, specifically Lenke 1 or 5.
  • Spinal flexibility: The curve must reduce to 30 degrees or less on lateral side-bending X-rays.
  • Bone health: Candidates need adequate bone density to hold pedicle screw fixation securely.
  • Age group: Designed mainly for adolescents with idiopathic scoliosis who are still growing.

Bookimed Expert Insight: While surgeons in Antalya typically focus on traditional fusion, specialists like Dr. Adil Turan at Medical Park Antalya concentrate on deformity correction with motion-preserving techniques. Antalya clinics often provide full diagnostic packages, including the lateral side-bending X-rays needed to confirm flexibility before any surgical commitment.

Patient Consensus: Patients stress that this system is an important middle ground for curves too severe for bracing. It suits those who want to avoid the permanent stiffness of spinal fusion. Recovery is faster. However, verifying the surgeon's experience with the ApiFix device is the most critical step.

Which specialists in Antalya perform ApiFix or advanced minimally invasive spine surgeries?

Top spine surgeons in Antalya — including Dr. Hasan Ozgur Ozdemir and Prof. Dr. Bahtiyar Demiralp at Medical Park Antalya — focus on minimally invasive techniques and motion-preserving technologies. They use JCI-accredited facilities to do complex scoliosis corrections, endoscopic discectomies, and percutaneous stabilization.

  • Surgeon credentials: Dr. Hasan Ozgur Ozdemir is a top-ranked neurosurgeon who focuses on endoscopic spine surgery.
  • Facility standards: Memorial Antalya Hospital maintains JCI accreditation and handles over 1.6 million patients each year.
  • Advanced technology: Clinics use robotic systems and stem cell therapy for regenerative spinal treatments.
  • Deformity correction: Prof. Dr. Bahtiyar Demiralp focuses on complex pediatric orthopedics and limb deformity.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Clinics may offer scoliosis surgery, but ApiFix is a niche technology that requires specific certification. Medical Park Antalya Hospital Complex stands out because its multidisciplinary team includes US-trained specialists like Assoc. Prof. Dr. Adil Turan. He did research at Denver Health Hospital.

Patient Consensus: Patients stress that for niche procedures like ApiFix, it is more important to check official surgeon certification and documented case volumes than general clinic reviews. Travelers often choose Antalya for the mix of high-tech hospital infrastructure and full recovery support.

Why choose Antalya, Turkey for ApiFix system implantation?

Antalya is a top choice for ApiFix system implantation. It offers JCI-accredited care and globally trained surgeons who specialize in minimally invasive spine correction. Patients get internal bracing techniques that preserve motion without the stiffness of traditional spinal fusion.

  • Expert surgeons: Specialists like Dr. Adil Turan have conducted orthopedic research at US hospitals.
  • Modern facilities: Medical Park Antalya serves as the largest private medical hub in the Mediterranean.
  • Cost savings: Patients typically save about 75% compared to the average US price of $65,000.
  • Recovery environment: The serene Mediterranean coast provides a low-stress setting for initial post-operative healing.

Bookimed Expert Insight: While Memorial Antalya Hospital is famous for organ transplants, Medical Park Antalya stands out for spine surgery. It hosts a high concentration of neurosurgeons and orthopedic specialists in one location. This multidisciplinary environment is vital for ApiFix patients who need both bone and nerve monitoring during implantation.

Patient Consensus: Patients emphasize the importance of requesting a detailed written treatment plan before travel. They suggest confirming the specific implant brand and clarifying follow-up policies so recovery goes smoothly once back home.

What is the ApiFix system and how does it work?

The ApiFix system is a motion-preserving internal brace for Adolescent Idiopathic Scoliosis. It uses a self-adjusting ratchet rod to straighten the spine without fusion. The device is minimally invasive and preserves natural flexibility. It also corrects moderate curves between 35 and 60 degrees in young patients.

  • Surgical approach: Surgeons place the device through a small 10 cm incision from the back.
  • Ratchet mechanism: The rod expands incrementally during daily stretching exercises to straighten the spine.
  • Motion preservation: Polyaxial joints allow lateral bending and micro-motion instead of permanent spinal locking.
  • Quick recovery: Most patients return to school in 2 weeks and resume normal activities within 8.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Spinal flexibility is the main success factor for ApiFix in Antalya clinics. Facilities like JCI-accredited Memorial Antalya Hospital focus on side-bending X-ray results rather than age. Patients often save about 75% compared to US costs. US costs average $65,000 for similar scoliosis care.

Patient Consensus: Patients value this middle-ground option because it reduces curves from 50 degrees to the teens. Patients also emphasize that recovery is faster than fusion. Still, choosing a surgeon with high case volume is vital.

What is the recovery timeline after an ApiFix procedure?

ApiFix recovery is faster than traditional fusion. Patients usually walk within hours and leave the hospital in 1 to 2 days. Most adolescents return to school within 2 weeks. Full participation in sports and recreation typically happens 3 to 6 months after surgery.

  • Early mobility: Patients start walking and sitting within hours of the procedure.
  • Hospital stay: Most patients are discharged within 24 to 48 hours.
  • School return: Adolescents typically resume classes within 14 to 21 days.
  • Physical therapy: Specialized exercises like Schroth movements begin around week 2.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Younger patients often bounce back in 3 weeks — adults in their 20s, however, should plan for a 3-month recovery window. Medical Park Antalya surgeons like Dr. Firat Oruc, who has performed surgeries since 2005, emphasize that this fusionless system preserves spinal growth and flexibility.

Patient Consensus: The first week is the hardest because of stiffness, though walking tends to feel easier than sitting early on. Patients often suggest using a lumbar cushion when going back to school or work to ease discomfort from sitting for a long time.
