How Much Does Cheiloplasty Cost in Turkey?

Cheiloplasty in Turkey typically costs from $2,000 to $3,500. Prices depend on the specific surgical technique, clinic location, and surgeon expertise. In the US, similar procedures cost around $14,000 on average. Patients in Turkey save approximately 80% compared to US prices. Standard packages usually include the surgery, anesthesia, airport transfers, and hotel accommodation.

  • Lip reduction: Generally the most affordable option for decreasing lip volume.
  • Lip lift: Elevates the upper lip to create a more youthful appearance.
  • Cleft lip repair: Complex reconstructive surgery often involving functional and aesthetic restoration.
  • Regional variations: Istanbul prices are often 15-20% higher than in Antalya or Izmir.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Choosing JCI-accredited facilities like Medicalpoint International ensures high safety standards at competitive rates. Many patients prefer Antalya for all-inclusive bundles that combine surgery with seaside recovery. Professor Cemal Firat in Antalya specializes in complex cleft lip cases. Specialized clinics often include Vaser technology or microsurgical flap techniques for better results. Top-tier hubs like Memorial Göztepe offer advanced diagnostic suites for precise preoperative planning.

It felt like Dr
What stood out was the surgeon's personal attention. He personally checked on me after surgery. Beforehand, Dr. Yaman explained his deep plane technique very clearly for my facelift, which also included my upper and lower eyes, brows, and a lip lift. This personal touch was part of the overall atmosphere. Every thing had a positive vibe; everyone was professional and warm, and the facilities and transportation were exceptional. It felt like Dr. Yaman really cared for you as a person. My recovery is progressing about as expected. I received a clear aftercare guide and had no additional expenses. For me, a little more language support could be useful, but it didn't hinder the process.

My surgeon was great; he was honest about what results were realistic for my body and clearly explained all the risks, which gave me confidence
If you're thinking about this, my main piece of advice is to be mentally ready for the procedure, as it can be overwhelming. I’m in early recovery from my breast reduction and lift, and I am feeling better than expected. My surgeon was great; he was honest about what results were realistic for my body and clearly explained all the risks, which gave me confidence. The clinic team was easy to reach and stayed in touch. Do be aware of some additional expenses – I had a prescription that cost extra at the pharmacy. A few practical tips: bring a spare compression garment, cotton t-shirts to wear underneath it, and your own snacks. Also, having my mum with me has been pivotal to my recovery, so I'd suggest bringing a companion if you can.
The co-ordinator at Bookimed, Winnington was brilliant. No matter how many questions I had he was able to answer them promptly and with one small hiccup from the hospital Winnington went out of his way to try and package a new procedure for me. My co-ordinator Eyyub at Optimed hospital was outstanding. The hospital was great, the staff on my floor were fantastic. We used goggle translate when the co-ordinator wasn’t with us if we came up against a language barrier but that was not very often. I was cared for before and after my surgery by the nursing staff who could not do enough for myself and my mum. I 10000000% recommend Bookimed & Optimed hospital
Post op instructions could be better. I have suggested to them to put together a general guide of what to do and not to do and for however long. What’s normal and if something doesn’t feel right who to contact etc. I think this will greatly help international patients and help the hospital co-ordinators from being hounded with a load of questions from several patients all at once. Peace of mind for the patient and a little more support for the co-ordinator. The food is catered for Turkish patients and can be hard for international patients to eat. Again, I have suggested to them to try having a small box of fibrous cereal available at breakfast time and instead of a full meal at lunch time something simple like sandwiches or rolls/bagels/baked goods. Dinner was usually ok and we were able to eat most of that but our daytime diet is a little less than they were providing and there was a lot of food waste which they could minimise & use the money elsewhere if there was a cater to international patients diets.

The single positive aspect of this entire process was the staff. They were wonderful. Unfortunately, my experience with the surgeon and the clinic itself was profoundly disappointing, and I'm very concerned with how my otoplasty recovery is going so far. The gap between the supportive staff and the actual medical treatment I received is hard to understand. The facility did not meet my expectations for a medical setting in any capacity. Based on this, I would absolutely not recommend this clinic to anyone considering a similar procedure.
Do not go with bookimed.com. I didn’t liked from the moment when I arrived to airport anyone wasn’t there to pick me up, you know when you arrive any place you have no internet and you can’t make any phone calls or text so night mares already start.

The surgeon and the clinic itself were excellent
The possibility of breathing issues was my primary concern going into this. And honestly, that has been the biggest challenge in recovery so far, with one nostril constantly feeling stuffed. My surgeon performed a closed rhinoplasty. Everything is still very swollen along the bridge, but I can already see that my nose tip appears more refined, which is a great sign. The surgeon and the clinic itself were excellent. The general staff were great, though post-op instructions could have been a bit more explicit. I'm satisfied with the medical care I received so far
Dr. Erol is an amazing doctor, his work was amazing he truly listened to my request and expectations and he was really patient and reassuring. The medical assistance team as well, they really took good care of me, they were present when i needed them.
post-op instructions could’ve been explained better

I breath perfectly now after surgery and my nose is a lot straighter
I felt very secure and taken care of through the entire experience. All of my inquiries were answered very promptly by both the bookiemed coordinator, the assistant, and my doctor (Dr. C Altindąg), is very experienced and talked me through what to expect and analyzed my nose very thoroughly. I breath perfectly now after surgery and my nose is a lot straighter (I had a severe deviated septum and other complications from a past surgery that he identified and corrected including a mirgrated graft and a droopy tip). I'm still quite swollen but look forward to seeing final results in a few months.

The lift in my jowls is already a dramatic improvement
My biggest worry was how the final result would look, and whether it would be worth the recovery. Even though I’m still quite puffy around my jawline, the lift in my jowls is already a dramatic improvement. That part is a huge relief. The staff and clinic environment were excellent from start to finish. Turning my head feels slightly tight but okay. The surgeon did good work, though I rated them a 4/5 as I felt some communication could have been a bit more compassionate after surgery. The most challenging part has absolutely been sleeping elevated. That's no fun. I would still recommend this clinic.
The Bookined coordinator and the Quartz Clinic staff were fantastic: supportive, helpful, compassionate. All updates were communicated to me promptly. The hotel booked for me is really excellent, with smooth transfers and kind drivers. Spot on!
I didn't give the doctor 5 stars because she made me cry the day after surgery. She could adopt a different approach towards me after surgery, with more understanding and compassion, especially since I was there on my own and at the end of the day, she's received all the information required, it doesn't matter from whom. The stress has a significant impact on me. Aside from that, she was great.

I felt in such safe hands throughout and would recommend my surgeon Dr Yunus Emre Seker and his team to anyone
I loved the coordinator / interpreter. Totally made me feel at ease and comfortable in what I would only describe as an anxious situation especially with the language barrier and the unknown of where you are going. The surgeon himself was wonderful and even had a coffee with me before hand which made me feel completely at ease. I felt in such safe hands throughout and would recommend my surgeon Dr Yunus Emre Seker and his team to anyone. Thank-you so much :)

The moment I saw the result, even with the initial swelling, I could tell the shape was exactly what I wanted
The moment I saw the result, even with the initial swelling, I could tell the shape was exactly what I wanted. It’s a great feeling. My goal was a more defined tip, and that's precisely what the surgeon delivered using an open approach. The whole process was smooth, and the staff were genuinely caring. The most difficult part of recovery so far is just having to sleep upright, which is temporary. A huge bonus is that I am breathing perfectly through my nose already. I am so grateful for the surgeon's skill and the clear communication from the team.

But the calmness and poise of the doctor and his team completely dispelled my doubts
I liked everything overall. Initially, I was very afraid, starting with the flight to another country, the transfer to the hotel and the operation itself. But the calmness and poise of the doctor and his team completely dispelled my doubts. 5 hours after the operation I returned to the hotel. Which is also very good because the hospital ward is the worst for me. Exactly after a week I took off the splint, my nose was still swollen. The nose is proportional to my face. When the swelling goes down it will be smaller

the care provided by the surgeon and all the staff was impeccable
If you’re thinking about arm liposuction, I’d advise you to prepare for the recovery. My surgeon used the VASER ultrasound technique and, although it’s still early days, my compression sleeves are already too loose. My mobility is limited; my biggest difficulty right now is reaching for things above my head. It’s also important to be patient with the results, because when I look in the mirror today, I can see that one arm looks different from the other, and I’m confident that will even out over time. Despite these minor aspects of the process, the care provided by the surgeon and all the staff was impeccable. I would recommend the clinic.

The surgeon and staff were brilliant and supportive throughout
My biggest worry was ending up with an unnatural shape, but the surgeon’s approach and clear communication completely put me at ease. Right now, things still look a little patchy as about half the transplanted hairs have fallen out, which I was told to expect during this early stage of healing. It’s a process. The biggest challenge has honestly been a personal one: just remembering to avoid touching them! The surgeon and staff were brilliant and supportive throughout. While the clinic facilities were fine, the personal care from the team made all the difference. I'm very satisfied with my choice.

The surgeon did an excellent job – the incisions were made using the traditional method and are now hidden in the natural folds of the skin
I was worried that the scars from the upper and lower eyelid surgery would be noticeable. Fortunately, the surgeon did an excellent job – the incisions were made using the traditional method and are now hidden in the natural folds of the skin. I have no complaints about him whatsoever. However, the overall impression was greatly marred by the clinic itself, where the conditions were unsatisfactory. Recovery is still ongoing. My eyes are still swollen, and I’ve noticed that when I smile, one side looks slightly different. I hope this will pass. The main advice I would give to anyone considering this procedure is to prepare thoroughly for the period before and after the operation.

To say that I was shocked by the doctor's approach to treatment is to say nothing. My impressions to you, just do not wish to experience. The operation was agreed in advance counselling and my wishes. The day of the operation came. In the morning I was picked up from the hotel and with an interpreter, I went through all the analyses. On the question when I will have a meeting with the doctor I was told at 9 am then I pointed out that I am allergic to one drug. But they wouldn't give me any medication before the operation without the doctor's consent. When I was already changed clothes for the operation ( I apologise myself in underwear, in an operating gown ) came the doctor and began to explain to me on his hands that it can not be like this, as I want and he sees it all differently. He began to explain to me with his fingers how it will be. Interrupting the interpreter. The interpreter couldn't keep up with the translation. Hurrying me to make a decision. I replied that I couldn't make a decision without seeing any pictures of what was waiting for me. Then after about an hour of dialogue, the doctor corrected the curvature of my nose on the telephoto in front of me and said here's what awaits you and covered the tip of my nose with his hand. Again we heard my refusal, to which I was told there is no time and I have to make a decision. They told me there was no time and I had to make a decision. My wishes were ignored. What was agreed upon before the operation was changed. My wishes were to correct the curvature and to change and reduce the tip of the nose. The result of the operation is that the curvature was not corrected and the septum remained the same. But the cartilage was grown on the side, which I did not ask for at all, and the nose was visually enlarged and the tip was corrected. Now I'm just shocked with my appearance to say the least. Everything was done at the discretion of the doctor. He ignored all my wishes. Putting me in front of the fact. Without showing me a single photo of what's in store for me. Explaining it to me on my fingers.

If you're considering this, my coordinator stayed in touch and really held my hand through it all. The clinic itself feels like a 5-star hotel; it's very clean and modern, and the staff were attentive and nice. My surgeon, Dr. Aysel Pashazade, was professional but warm. During the consultation, she carefully examined my facial structure and was very clear in explaining where the incisions would be placed. After the surgery and discharge, the team was still there for me. I always got a response back, no matter how late it was, which showed they genuinely care about their work. The only additional expenses I had were for antibiotics and painkillers, which cost next to nothing in Turkey. Honestly, I couldn't fault anything.

If you're considering this, here's my honest take. Everything went more or less as planned, and it's definitely not a scam; the quoted price was the final price. The logistics like airport pickup and the private hospital room were handled well. The main issue was communication. I only spoke with the surgeon a few days before my flight, which caused a lot of insecurity because I couldn't get my questions answered in time. In the hospital, the translator isn't always with you. While my surgeon measured and marked me carefully for my anchor lift, the brief consultations left me concerned. It's still too early to tell about the final outcome, and I don't know how much my nipples were repositioned. Get all your questions answered long before you travel and bring two payment cards. Pack light!
Everything went more or less as planned, no big issues or problems. They picked me up at the airport, took me to the hospital where I was checked in and taken to my room after my payment. In the hospital I've received 3 meals a day, had a room with a single hospital bed, a sofa, television, wardrobe and toilet for myself. Before the surgery I had blood tests and EKG done, I've also talked to the anesthesiologist and the surgeon before the surgery for a short time, in my opinion the conversation could have been longer to answer some more question. After the surgery I was taken back to my room and received the nurses assistance for the next days. Before I went home I saw the surgeon one last time. All in all it was a good and successful experience, it's not a scam!!! The combined price stayed until the end, everything said was true.
One thing that could be better is the communication with bookimed and also the communication with the hospital. Unfortunately almost until the time of travel some of my questions were not answered and I only had the chance to talk to the surgeon per Video only a few days before surgery, which is not ideal and made me feel really insecure because I could not have my questions answered with enough time before the surgery to feel safe and secure to travel to another country with no companion. I did it anyway because I researched a lot and bookimed seemed authentic, but this was of the things that would have made me cancel the surgery. Also the same goes to the hospital, everything, the translator doesn't stay with you all the time and most of the nurses did not speak English, so there's no way of asking them what are they doing, what are they giving you, why are they taking your blood, etc. The meeting with the doctor was also very fast just a few hours before the surgery, again there was not enough time to have all my questions answered. Going to the surgery the same, the translator was there just for a few minutes, the doctors there didn't talk to me, didn't explain anything to me before giving me anesthesy or anything, they just gave it to me without even saying it and then I woke up when the surgery was over and gladly everything went fine, but that's not OK, the doctors are supposed to walk the patient through every step before surgery to pass a sense of security and calm to the patient. This part of it definitely needs improvement.

FAQ about Cheiloplasty in Turkey

These FAQs come from real patients seeking medical assistance through Bookimed. Answers are given by experienced medical coordinators and trusted clinic representatives.

Is it safe to have lip surgery in Turkey?

Lip surgery in Turkey is safe when performed by board-certified plastic surgeons in facilities accredited by Joint Commission International (JCI). High safety standards are maintained through Ministry of Health licensing and mandatory certifications from the Turkish Society of Plastic Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgeons.

  • Surgeon credentials: Specialists like Dr. Emrah Koksal maintain International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery membership.
  • Hospital standards: Top facilities like Medicalpoint International Hospital hold JCI and ISO international certifications.
  • Accreditation status: Clinics must possess an International Health Tourism Authorization Certificate for legal operation.
  • Specialized expertise: Professors like Cemal Firat possess advanced doctorate-level training in cleft lip reconstruction.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Data shows that safety correlates with clinical volume rather than just price. Medicalpoint International Hospital serves 450 international patients annually while maintaining Temos accreditation. This high patient turnover typically ensures surgical teams are well-versed in managing the specific recovery needs of overseas patients.

Patient Consensus: Experienced patients recommend budgeting for 7–10 days to monitor stability. Spacing out the return flight helps prevent asymmetry caused by altitude-induced swelling.

Are the results of a lip lift permanent?

A surgical lip lift provides permanent results because the procedure physically removes a segment of skin to shorten the philtrum. Unlike temporary fillers that dissolve, this structural change remains constant. While natural aging continues, the repositioned upper lip maintains its new, elevated proportions for decades.

  • Surgical permanence: Skin removal ensures the philtrum length does not revert to its original state.
  • Aging impact: Collagen loss over 10–15 years may cause minor skin laxity or fine lines.
  • Irreversibility: The procedure cannot be undone without complex surgery because tissue is permanently removed.
  • Maintenance: Most patients require no follow-ups, though some use SPF to protect scar quality.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Data from top Turkish clinics like Medicalpoint International shows that experienced surgeons often prioritize the sub-nasal bullhorn technique. This approach anchors the lift to deeper tissues, which prevents the stretching sometimes seen in less invasive methods. While the lift itself is permanent, patients who pair the surgery with medical-grade skincare often report better definition 5 years later.

Patient Consensus: Patients report that while swelling takes nearly 6 months to fully resolve, the results stay perfect even after 2 years. Long-term satisfaction is high, though some warn that the change is so permanent you must be certain about your desired proportions.

What are the different types of cheiloplasty available in Turkey?

Turkey provides comprehensive cheiloplasty options including cosmetic lip lifts, volume-enhancing augmentations, and complex reconstructive repairs. Specialized clinics in Istanbul, Izmir, and Antalya utilize advanced techniques like Bullhorn subnasal lifts, V-Y advancement for reduction, and geometric broken-line closures for cleft lip revisions.

  • Cosmetic lip lifts: Bullhorn, Italian, and corner techniques shorten the philtrum and improve symmetry.
  • Volume enhancement: Options include autologous fat grafting or hyaluronic acid fillers for natural results.
  • Reduction cheiloplasty: Surgeons use V-Y plasty to reduce lip size or correct old fillers.
  • Reconstructive surgery: Prof. Dr. Cemal Firat performs specialized cleft lip and facial trauma repairs.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Many patients overlook that high-tech facilities like Memorial Göztepe Hospital now integrate AI-assisted imaging for facial mapping. This precision allows surgeons to calculate the exact millimeter of skin removal required during a lip lift. Choosing hospitals with JCI accreditation, such as Medicalpoint International, ensures lower infection rates for these delicate perioral procedures.

Patient Consensus: Patients emphasize that while initial swelling is significant, the final pout looks natural after three months. Many survivors of previous permanent filler issues recommend V-Y plasty for restoring lip shape.

How long is the recovery period?

Recovery after cheiloplasty in Turkey typically takes 7 to 14 days for initial healing. Most patients return to work within 10 days, though swelling peaks around day 3. While bruising fades by the second week, final lip contours settle over 1 to 3 months.

  • Initial healing: Most patients recover enough for public appearance within 7 to 10 days.
  • Peak swelling: Inflammation and puffiness usually reach their maximum level during days 3 to 5.
  • Activity restrictions: Patients must avoid using straws and smoking for at least 14 days.
  • Final results: Residual internal swelling dissipates completely between 1 and 3 months post-surgery.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Data from Turkish clinics like Medicalpoint International Hospital shows that JCI-accredited facilities often include specialized post-op kits. These kits frequently feature Arnica and specific cooling compresses. Using these consistently for the first 72 hours can significantly reduce typical recovery downtime.

Patient Consensus: Many patients suggest budgeting for a few extra hotel days if swelling lingers. Most reviewers mention that makeup effectively conceals any remaining bruising by the seventh day.

What is included in a typical Turkish surgery package?

Typical Turkish surgery packages for procedures like cheiloplasty bundle surgical fees, anesthesia, and clinical stays into a single price. Most invitations include pre-operative tests, 1 night of hospitalization, and 3 to 7 nights in a 4 or 5-star hotel. This approach offers up to 80% savings compared to US averages of $14,000.

  • Medical fees: Covers surgeon fees, anesthesiology, operating room charges, and all necessary medical consumables.
  • Hospital stay: Includes 1 night in JCI-accredited facilities with nursing care and meals.
  • Post-operative care: Provides essential medications, dressings, follow-up consultations, and 24/7 personal coordinator support.
  • Logistics: Often features VIP airport-hotel-clinic transfers and professional translation services for international patients.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Data from high-volume centers like Medicalpoint International Hospital shows that the most reliable packages include 1-3 in-person checks before discharge. While lip lift prices range from $1,900 to $2,100, choosing packages with extended hotel stays often reduces the risk of travel-related swelling complications.

Patient Consensus: Patients emphasize getting all inclusions in writing before traveling to avoid surprise costs for take-home medications. Many recommend budgeting an extra 20% for personal stay expenses that typically fall outside the surgical bundle.

How long should I plan to stay in Turkey after cheiloplasty?

Plan for a 7 to 10 day stay in Turkey after cheiloplasty to manage initial healing safely. This window allows for peak swelling reduction, essential follow-up appointments, and professional suture removal. Most patients receive medical clearance for air travel after a final surgical check-up on day 7.

  • Healing period: Peak swelling occurs during days 3 to 5 post-surgery.
  • Suture removal: Surgeons typically remove stitches on day 7 before clearing travel.
  • Flying safety: Avoid flying for 48 hours minimum to prevent hematoma from pressure.
  • Clinical proximity: Stay near your Istanbul or Antalya clinic for immediate follow-up access.

Bookimed Expert Insight: While many clinics suggest 7 days, our data shows patients staying 10 days report higher comfort levels. Medicalpoint International and other JCI-accredited centers often utilize multi-stage checks on days 5 and 9. This extra buffer ensures any minor adjustments happen before you leave Turkish medical supervision.

Patient Consensus: Many patients recommend packing ice packs for the first 3 days to manage intense local swelling. They highlight that getting travel clearance in writing provides peace of mind before boarding long-haul flights home.
