How Much Does Deep brain stimulation (DBS) surgery Cost in Turkey?

The cost of deep brain stimulation (DBS) surgery in Turkey typically ranges from $21,000 to $28,000. Prices vary depending on the hospital, the neurosurgeon’s experience, the type of DBS system (single or dual lead, rechargeable vs. non-rechargeable battery), and case complexity. In the United States, the average DBS surgery cost is $90,000 (per AANS). This means DBS surgery in Turkey is about 73% less than in the U.S.

Turkish hospitals usually include pre-op neurological evaluation, brain MRI, the DBS device and leads, general anesthesia, surgery, 3–7 days of hospitalization, initial device programming, and follow-up visits. In the U.S., prices often cover only the surgeon’s fee and device, with separate bills for anesthesia, hospital stay, and post-op programming. Always confirm exactly what’s included with your chosen clinic.

Ali Zirch is the best and he has a good team
Operation DBS. Ali Zirch is the best and he has a good team . Because setting up the equipment is as important process for patients as the operation to install it. Honestly, I can't imagine that such an operation can be done in Ukraine.... Of course, there are young and promising doctors. But there is no equipment.

We truly appreciate the support and dedication of the entire medical team
We had a very positive experience at the hospital. My father underwent surgery and we are grateful to say it was successful. The doctors and nurses were professional, attentive, and ensured he received excellent care throughout his stay. The hospital facilities were clean and well-organised, and everything went according to plan. The only thing worth mentioning is that the total cost exceeded what we initially planned for, but overall, the quality of care and the successful outcome made it worthwhile. We truly appreciate the support and dedication of the entire medical team.

"But I want to express my deepest and heartfelt thanks to our assistant from the first day, a month before we arrived at Mahmoud Kathab hospital, this young man is gifted with a huge heart, I think he was the person who made me choose MEDIPOL PARMERA etc
I would like to express our satisfaction with the DBS operation, the stay in the hospital, which I dare to say at the world level. Dr. Ali Zirh is an absolute professional, precise, clear, concrete and above all very human. But I want to express my deepest and heartfelt thanks to our assistant from the first day, a month before we arrived at Mahmoud Kathab hospital, this young man is gifted with a huge heart, I think he was the person who made me choose MEDIPOL PARMERA etc. Ali Zarh. Last but not least, I am fascinated by the neurologist Dr. Basak and her team, who for 21 days took care of regulating the exact therapy and impulses of my husband. Our entire stay was reduced to the last detail for our benefit, to feel at home. We have not regretted it for a moment, that we chose MEDIPOL MEGA GROUP, thank you Mahmoud, you were born to help people like us!!! Please to reword Mahmoud Kathab ,he deserved a lot!!!

Overall, we are very satisfied with our visit to this clinic, the patient management tactics and we have a follow-up visit planned in 3 months
Good afternoon! We are from Kyrgyzstan! We applied to the clinic through the bookimed website. The coordinator Anastasia was very helpful, everything was organised very clearly, we were never disappointed. The clinic itself is impressive in terms of scale, cleanliness and quality of service, the staff is friendly and attentive. Our interpreter Lamia worked with us, coordinated our logistics around the clinic, tried to ensure timely appointments with doctors, she was very comfortable and easy to communicate with. But, there was a moment with the examination: we were referred to MRI, the procedure was quite long, the room was quite cold, so I was very cold. As a recommendation - it would be good to warn patients about the need to maintain a certain temperature regime in this room and somehow provide comfort as much as possible. Overall, we are very satisfied with our visit to this clinic, the patient management tactics and we have a follow-up visit planned in 3 months.

FAQ about Deep brain stimulation (DBS) surgery in Turkey

These FAQs come from real patients seeking medical assistance through Bookimed. Answers are given by experienced medical coordinators and trusted clinic representatives.

How convenient is the clinic location and access?

Patients describe the clinic location and access as highly convenient, with comprehensive support from arrival to departure. Services begin right at the airport with transfers provided. One patient noted everything was included: 'tickets, transfer, transport there, cross-over, accommodation and food.' The clinic handles logistics seamlessly, allowing families to focus on medical care rather than navigation. Another mentioned preferring hotels 'near from the central' for programming visits. Some found meal arrangements for companions required separate payment, though overall coordination remained 'high-quality.' International patients consistently praise the end-to-end travel support.

Are there any hidden or extra costs?

Patient experiences with DBS surgery costs in Turkey reveal mostly transparent pricing, though some encountered additional expenses. One patient noted that while many services were included at no extra charge - 'tickets, transfer, transport, accommodation and food' - they only paid for 'consulting a doctor and procedure for MRI and analytics.' Another mentioned paying separately for meals for their companion, as these weren't automatically covered. One family found the total cost exceeded initial planning, though they felt the 'quality of care and successful outcome made it worthwhile.' Most patients describe the overall value as reasonable given the high standard of medical care received.

How effective are the treatment results?

Patients consistently report successful DBS surgery outcomes in Turkey, with many expressing deep gratitude for life-changing results. One patient was 'very pleased with the results,' while another described their experience as being at 'world level.' Dr. Ali Zirh receives particular praise, with patients calling him 'the best' and noting his precision in both surgery and equipment setup. Some mention the MRI examination rooms were quite cold, though this didn't affect the excellent medical outcomes. The neurological follow-up care also stands out, with patients appreciating the detailed therapy adjustments over several weeks that optimize their treatment results.

How experienced and professional are the doctors?

Patients consistently describe Turkish DBS surgeons as highly skilled professionals who deliver exceptional results. Dr. Ali Zirh stands out repeatedly, with patients calling him 'the best' and praising his 'absolute professional' approach that's both precise and human. One patient noted they 'can't imagine that such an operation can be done' elsewhere, highlighting the advanced expertise available. The medical teams demonstrate thorough assessment capabilities and maintain constant support throughout treatment. Doctors provide comprehensive care with dedicated attention at every step, creating confidence in even complex neurological procedures.

How comfortable and modern are the clinic facilities?

Patients consistently describe Turkish DBS facilities as impressively modern and comfortable. One called the hospital 'world level,' while another was struck by the 'scale, cleanliness and quality of service.' The facilities feature advanced equipment that patients say isn't available in their home countries. Staff attention to detail stands out—one patient noted how 'our entire stay was reduced to the last detail for our benefit, to feel at home.' Some mentioned the MRI room being quite cold during lengthy procedures, though this didn't overshadow the overall positive experience. Patients describe facilities as 'very clean' and 'well-organised' with professional, attentive staff throughout.

Will language barriers affect my treatment?

Based on patient experiences, language barriers are effectively managed through dedicated interpreter services. Patients describe having 'personal interpreters' who provide comprehensive support, staying with them 'at every step' including in the operating theatre. International patients from countries like Kyrgyzstan found their interpreters 'very comfortable and easy to communicate with,' coordinating logistics and ensuring timely appointments. One patient praised their translator as a 'great person' offering '24/7 support' with direct doctor contact. The medical staff consistently answered questions and addressed concerns, making communication smooth throughout the treatment process.

How supportive and caring is the clinic staff?

Patients consistently describe Turkish clinic staff as exceptionally caring and attentive throughout their DBS journey. One family noted staff 'did not leave for a minute, even in the operating theatre' providing constant support. Another praised how staff were 'responsible and caring' during what they called a worrying time due to their mother's age. Some mentioned room temperature during MRI procedures could be more comfortable, though this didn't diminish their overall satisfaction. Staff attention extends to every detail, with patients feeling 'at home' and describing the experience as 'reduced to the last detail for our benefit.'
