How Much Does Ocrevus (ocrelizumab) Cost in Turkey?

Ocrevus (ocrelizumab) in Turkey typically costs from $10,000 to $15,000 per treatment cycle. The final price depends on the specific clinic tier, physician expertise, and required pre-infusion diagnostic tests. Patients save significantly compared to the US, where the average cost is $80,000 with savings of approximately 84%. Treatment usually includes the medication, infusion procedure, and initial neurology consultations.

  • Specialist consultation: Neurology evaluations for MS management typically add about $100 per session.
  • Diagnostic workups: High-resolution 3 Tesla MRI and lumbar punctures may increase the total package price.
  • Facility location: Major medical hubs include Istanbul, Ankara, Antalya, and Izmir.
  • Clinic accreditation: Prices in JCI-accredited facilities reflect international standards and specialized infusion protocols.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Choosing a multi-specialty center like Anadolu Medical Center or Medipol Mega provides unique value. These hospitals maintain affiliations with top global institutions like Johns Hopkins Medicine. Patients can access expert neurologists like Baris Topcular, who has extensive international experience. Ali Zirch is the best and he has a good team
Operation DBS. Ali Zirch is the best and he has a good team . Because setting up the equipment is as important process for patients as the operation to install it. Honestly, I can't imagine that such an operation can be done in Ukraine.... Of course, there are young and promising doctors. But there is no equipment.

Dr Sait has worked wonders
On the 18th he underwent surgery with a vagus nerve stimulator on the 25th and it was connected. Dr Sait has worked wonders. Daytime seizures are very rare but nighttime seizures have changed completely. I am 35 years old and so far only the first connection 0.25 paediatric dose and 5 more connections. Thank you to the neurologist Dr Yemmir who agreed to treat me. For all my years my encephalogram is finally normal. I am from abroad. I don't live in Istanbul. But I thank the whole clinic, all the doctors, all the interpreters, all the staff.

Quality of service and knowledge of medical and nursing staff at the highest level
We were at Memorial Ankara on the 27th and 28th of October. The transfer was organised. We were met by Nigora, a member of the international department of the clinic. We saw a neurologist and a cardiologist. We had blood tests, MRI, Doppler, ECG, ECHG, Holter ..... Quality of service and knowledge of medical and nursing staff at the highest level. We are satisfied. Thank God, my dad feels well. He bought all the pills we were prescribed in Ankara.
Everything is for people. The quality of service and knowledge of the medical and nursing staff is at the highest level.
It's all right.

"But I want to express my deepest and heartfelt thanks to our assistant from the first day, a month before we arrived at Mahmoud Kathab hospital, this young man is gifted with a huge heart, I think he was the person who made me choose MEDIPOL PARMERA etc
I would like to express our satisfaction with the DBS operation, the stay in the hospital, which I dare to say at the world level. Dr. Ali Zirh is an absolute professional, precise, clear, concrete and above all very human. But I want to express my deepest and heartfelt thanks to our assistant from the first day, a month before we arrived at Mahmoud Kathab hospital, this young man is gifted with a huge heart, I think he was the person who made me choose MEDIPOL PARMERA etc. Ali Zarh. Last but not least, I am fascinated by the neurologist Dr. Basak and her team, who for 21 days took care of regulating the exact therapy and impulses of my husband. Our entire stay was reduced to the last detail for our benefit, to feel at home. We have not regretted it for a moment, that we chose MEDIPOL MEGA GROUP, thank you Mahmoud, you were born to help people like us!!! Please to reword Mahmoud Kathab ,he deserved a lot!!!

I do not have a very good impression of the clinic, because we went to do the operation at the agreed price of $ 4000 for the removal of tonsils, on arrival took 200 euros for consultation and said that the operation will cost 5900 euros.Prices are cosmic, it is better to choose another clinic, will be cheaper and not worse result.

I would recommend this clinic and especially the professor to anyone who needs treatment related to trigeminal nerve
I underwent Gamma Knife surgery on my trigeminal nerve at Medical Park Clinic and I would like to express my huge gratitude to all the medical staff and especially to the professor who performed the procedure. The operation was difficult, as it involved the trigeminal nerve and there was a risk of injury to nearby nerves. However, thanks to the professionalism and high qualifications of the professor, everything went well. He performed the procedure with jewellery precision, minimising possible risks and ensuring an excellent result. The Medical Park clinic also impressed with its high level of service, attentive attitude to patients and modern technological base. I felt in safe hands from the moment of consultation to the end of the rehabilitation period. I would recommend this clinic and especially the professor to anyone who needs treatment related to trigeminal nerve. Thank you for your work and care!

FAQ about Ocrevus (ocrelizumab) in Turkey

These FAQs come from real patients seeking medical assistance through Bookimed. Answers are given by experienced medical coordinators and trusted clinic representatives.

What are the main benefits and potential risks of Ocrevus (ocrelizumab) therapy?

Ocrevus (ocrelizumab) effectively manages relapsing and primary progressive multiple sclerosis by depleting CD20-positive B cells. Key benefits include a 46% reduction in annual relapses and 25% slower disability progression. Potential risks involve infusion reactions, increased respiratory infection susceptibility, and rare cases of PML or liver injury.

  • Disease control: Reduces new brain lesions by 77–83% compared to standard interferon beta-1a treatments.
  • Mobility preservation: Delays wheelchair dependence by approximately 7 years in early primary progressive MS cases.
  • Infusion reactions: Affects 34–40% of patients, typically causing itching, rash, fever, or nausea.
  • Infection risk: Increases vulnerability to shingles, hepatitis B reactivation, and frequent respiratory infections.

Bookimed Expert Insight: While Ocrevus costs between $10,000 and $15,000 in Turkey, patients often overlook the significant savings compared to the $80,000 US average. Leading centers like Anadolu Medical Center or Medipol Mega utilize JCI-accredited protocols to manage the common 40% infusion reaction rate safely. Many patients successfully switch to this biannual dosing after failing daily medications, reporting near-zero relapses in the first 2 years.

Patient Consensus: Patients value the freedom of twice-yearly infusions over daily or weekly injections, often describing the results as life-changing for energy levels. Despite benefits, many emphasize the need for strict infection monitoring and suggest completing all necessary vaccinations before starting therapy.

Who is eligible for Ocrevus treatment in Turkey and what medical tests are required beforehand?

Eligibility for Ocrevus in Turkey requires a confirmed diagnosis of Relapsing Forms of Multiple Sclerosis or Primary Progressive Multiple Sclerosis based on McDonald criteria. Patients must be 18 or older, show recent disease activity via MRI, and test negative for active Hepatitis B infections.

  • Mandatory screenings: Patients must test negative for Hepatitis B, Hepatitis C, HIV, and Tuberculosis.
  • Neurological baseline: A brain MRI is required to document current central nervous system lesion load.
  • Immune evaluation: Doctors check quantitative serum immunoglobulins (IgG/IgM) and complete blood count baseline.
  • Vaccination protocol: Complete all non-live vaccinations 6 weeks before starting the first infusion cycle.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Data from top-tier Istanbul centers like Memorial Şişli Hospital shows a strict focus on JC virus serology. While not always mandatory globally, Turkish neurologists prioritize this test to mitigate PML risks. This higher diagnostic standard often explains why initial screening costs in Turkey range from $2,500 to $4,000.

Patient Consensus: Patients emphasize that neurologists look for MRI lesions or relapses within the last 6 to 12 months. Most suggest planning for mild flu-like symptoms immediately following the first infusion session.

What is the typical administration schedule and monitoring protocol for Ocrevus infusions in Turkish hospitals?

Turkish hospitals follow international protocols for Ocrevus administration, starting with two 300 mg doses separated by 14 days. Maintenance involves a 600 mg infusion every 6 months. Centers like Anadolu Medical Center and Memorial Şişli Hospital require pre-medication and 60 minutes of post-infusion observation for safety.

  • Initial dosing: Two 300 mg infusions administered 14 days apart in week 0 and 2.
  • Maintenance schedule: Single 600 mg intravenous infusions delivered every 24 weeks following the first year.
  • Infusion time: Initial sessions last 3.5–4 hours, while maintenance infusions typically reduce to 2 hours.
  • Safety monitoring: Continuous tracking of heart rate, blood pressure, and oxygen levels every 15 minutes.
  • Pre-infusion screening: Required bloodwork includes Hepatitis B, liver enzymes, and quantitative serum immunoglobulin levels.

Bookimed Expert Insight: While most international protocols are identical, Turkish JCI-accredited centers often offer a faster discharge protocol. If your vital signs remain stable during the 1-hour post-infusion observation, neurological teams may clear you faster than in US clinics. This efficiency is common at high-volume centers like Medipol Mega University Hospital, which serves over 1,200 patients daily.

Patient Consensus: Patients recommend bringing snacks and entertainment for the initial long sessions. Most report feeling reassured by the mandatory pre-medication with steroids and antihistamines to prevent reactions.

Which internationally accredited clinics and neurologists in Turkey are experienced with Ocrevus therapy?

Internationally accredited Turkish hospitals like Memorial Sisli and Anadolu Medical Center offer specialized Ocrevus (ocrelizumab) therapy for multiple sclerosis. These facilities maintain Joint Commission International (JCI) standards and employ neurologists experienced in biologic protocols to ensure safe infusion administration and comprehensive monitoring.

  • Clinic accreditations: JCI-accredited centers like Memorial and Medipol follow international Johns Hopkins-affiliated protocols.
  • Expert neurologists: Specialists like Dr. Baris Topcular and Dr. Ela Simay Zengin manage biologic therapies.
  • Infusion safety: Hospitals provide dedicated infusion centers with 3 Tesla MRI and multidisciplinary support.
  • Geographic hub: Most experienced centers are in Istanbul, with specialized branches in Antalya and Izmir.

Bookimed Expert Insight: While many private clinics list MS services, specialized experience with ocrelizumab varies significantly. Medipol Mega University Hospital stands out because it operates as a massive academic complex with 70 departments, meaning neurology cases are reviewed by senior faculty who oversee high-volume biologic treatments. Choosing an academic-affiliated center often ensures access to the latest international clinical guidelines for complex MS cases.

Patient Consensus: Patients often find that private payment is required for Ocrevus in Turkey and recommend verifying infusion-center accreditation directly. It is common for international patients to request specific references regarding the number of biologic infusions a clinic performs annually.

What vaccination guidelines should patients follow before starting Ocrevus in Turkey?

Patients starting Ocrevus in Turkey must complete live-attenuated vaccines at least 4 to 6 weeks before their first infusion. Inactivated vaccines require a 2-week lead time. These windows ensure the immune system generates sufficient antibodies before B-cell depletion begins under specialist supervision.

  • Live vaccines: Complete MMR and varicella doses 4–6 weeks before starting treatment.
  • Hepatitis B screening: Mandatory HBsAg and anti-HBc testing is required before the first infusion.
  • Inactivated vaccines: Administer flu, pneumonia, and COVID-19 shots 2 weeks before therapy.
  • Infant safety: Delay live vaccines for newborns if Ocrevus was used during pregnancy.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Turkish neurology centers like Anadolu Medical Center or Medipol Mega often provide integrated screening for Hepatitis B and tuberculosis. Since Ocrevus in Turkey costs $10,000 to $15,000—well below the $80,000 US average—patients often use these savings to fund comprehensive pre-treatment titer testing for measles and varicella.

Patient Consensus: Patients emphasize checking varicella titers early as low immunity can delay the start date. Many suggest documenting all vaccinations upfront to meet local medical and reimbursement requirements smoothly.

How long do international patients usually stay in Turkey for Ocrevus initiation and follow-up infusions?

International patients typically stay in Turkey for 14 to 21 days during Ocrevus initiation to complete two loading doses spaced 14 days apart. Maintenance follow-up infusions, administered every 6 months, require a shorter stay of 4 to 5 days for clinical monitoring and observation.

  • Initiation stay: Plan for 14–21 days to cover both infusions and mandatory monitoring periods.
  • Maintenance stay: Budget 4–5 days for single infusions, including pre-medication and post-infusion observation.
  • Infusion duration: Expect 3–4 hours per session plus 1 hour of clinical observation afterward.
  • Clinic turnaround: Leading JCI-accredited hospitals typically begin treatment within 3–7 days of initial inquiry.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Anadolu Medical Center, an affiliate of Johns Hopkins Medicine, offers hotel booking services just 15 minutes away from the clinic. This proximity is vital for Ocrevus patients because protocols often require 24–48 hours of close monitoring after the first dose to manage potential reactions. Choosing a clinic with coordinated lodging can simplify the logistics of the two-week gap between initiation doses.

Patient Consensus: Patients emphasize staying at least 10 days for the initial trip to allow for overnight monitoring. Many successfully coordinate with home neurologists to handle bloodwork remotely, which streamlines follow-up visits to just a few days.

What should patients do if they experience adverse reactions after returning home from an Ocrevus infusion in Turkey?

Patients experiencing life-threatening reactions like difficulty breathing or severe swelling should immediately contact local emergency services. For non-urgent symptoms after returning home, patients must contact their Turkish treating clinic and their primary neurologist to manage infusion-related reactions and monitor for delayed complications like infections.

  • Emergency contact: Dial 112 immediately for throat swelling, chest tightness, or fainting symptoms.
  • Clinic notification: Contact specialists at Anadolu Medical Center or Medipol for non-emergency infusion reactions.
  • Symptom tracking: Document start times for redness, fatigue, or fever to share with doctors.
  • Neurological monitoring: Report new weakness or vision changes immediately to screen for rare infections.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Patients save up to 84% on Ocrevus in Turkey, with costs ranging from $10,000 to $15,000. High-volume centers like Anadolu Medical Center, affiliated with Johns Hopkins, offer personal coordinators who facilitate urgent remote consultations if reactions occur after you return home.

Patient Consensus: Many patients recommend having a pre-arranged telehealth appointment with your home neurologist within 48 hours of your return. Always carry a medical summary card listing Ocrevus as your current therapy when seeking any local medical care.
