The Bookimed clinic ranking is based on data science algorithms, providing a trusted, transparent, and objective comparison. It takes into account patient demand, review scores (both positive and negative), the frequency of updates to treatment options and prices, response speed, and clinic certifications.
Day 1: Arrival in Mexico
  • You should arrive at the designated airport in Mexico before 11 AM to allow time for pre-operative procedures.
  • Ensure you have all necessary documentation, including your passport, COVID-19 test results, and transportation details.
  • Meet with the clinic's representative or transportation service. They will take you to your accommodation or directly to the clinic for initial evaluations.
  • Undergo pre-operative evaluations, which may include blood tests, EKG, and a cardiologist evaluation. These are crucial to ensure you are fit for surgery.
  • If you arrive at San Diego Airport, expect a transfer to your clinic or hotel in Mexico. This is often included in your package.
  • Check into your accommodation, ensuring it's close to the clinic for ease of access.
  • Rest and prepare for the upcoming procedure. Avoid eating or drinking after midnight if your surgery is scheduled for the next day.
Day 2: Pre-surgery Consultations
  • You need to attend a pre-operative consultation with your surgeon to discuss the liposuction procedure, expectations, and potential outcomes.
  • Discuss the specific areas targeted for liposuction, such as the abdomen, back, arms, or thighs, and whether fat transfer is desired.
  • If a BodyTite device is being used, understand its role in skin tightening via radiofrequency energy.
  • Review and sign any necessary consent forms after thoroughly understanding the procedure and its risks.
  • Ensure you have stopped smoking at least 2 weeks prior, as advised, to reduce the risk of complications.
  • Return to your accommodation to rest and mentally prepare for the surgery day.
Day 3: Surgery Day
  • Arrive at the clinic early, as directed, for the liposuction procedure under epidural anesthesia.
  • The procedure involves small incisions and the use of a cannula to aspirate fat. You can opt to transfer fat to other areas like the buttocks.
  • Expect to stay in the hospital for one night post-surgery for monitoring and initial recovery.
  • Ensure you have arranged for the first stage post-surgical garment, which is often included in the package.
  • Communicate any immediate post-operative concerns to the medical staff.
Day 4: Post-surgery Discharge
  • Receive discharge instructions from the clinic, including guidance on mobility, pain management, and wound care.
  • Arrange for transportation back to your accommodation or a recovery house if staying in one.
  • Begin wearing a compression garment as advised to aid in healing and contouring.
  • Schedule follow-up appointments for the upcoming days to monitor recovery progress.
Days 5-10: Recovery Period
  • Attend scheduled follow-up consultations and therapies, such as lymphatic drainage or ultrasound therapy, to enhance recovery.
  • Adhere to post-operative care instructions, including taking prescribed medications and avoiding strenuous activities.
  • Maintain a balanced diet and stay hydrated to support the healing process.
  • Contact the clinic if you experience any unusual symptoms such as excessive swelling, pain, or signs of infection.
  • Continue wearing the compression garment as advised, typically for 6 weeks, with foams for the first 3 weeks.
  • Plan for lymphatic drainage therapies if recommended, though these may incur additional costs.
Day 11: Preparation for Departure
  • Attend a final follow-up appointment to ensure you are cleared for travel.
  • Receive any additional instructions for continued recovery at home, including activity restrictions and garment use.
  • Arrange transportation to the airport, ensuring your flight is scheduled after 1 PM to accommodate any last-minute evaluations or instructions.
  • Pack all necessary medical documents and contact information for post-operative care once you return home.
Post-return Home
  • Continue to follow the recovery guidelines provided by your surgeon, including wearing the compression garment and attending any remote follow-up consultations.
  • Gradually reintroduce normal activities as advised, avoiding heavy lifting or intense exercise until fully healed.
  • Monitor your healing process and contact the clinic with any concerns or questions that arise during your recovery.
  • Plan for a full recovery period of up to 6 weeks, with most daily activities being possible after 10-14 days.

I'm very happy with the results I'm seeing so far and anticipate being even happier as the swelling goes down and my new figure fully reveals itself
Dr Ana was very sweet and helpful as was her daughter Louise. Despite the language barrier they were able to communicate to me what the procedure was going to be in terms of medical tests on surgery day. The anesthetist was wonderful and easy to communicate with. The nurses who tended to me post procedure were very kind, but there was definitely a language barrier. I had hoped to be able to use my phones translator, but did not anticipate how difficult it would be for me to move after the procedure often times I would not be able to reach my phone. Once I arrived there, there were some nominal unanticipated additional costs that I was not made aware of. Specifically, $200 a night to sleep another night in the clinic when I was too swollen and sore to move and wasn't going to be able to get on a plane just yet. I stayed in a nice hotel the night before the procedure and paid only $77 for that accommodation. It would be different if they had been bringing me juice and water frequently or otherwise caring for me, but I often found myself dehydrated and lacking cold water. I appreciate that they brought me food, but all of the food that they brought me was so dry that I could not eat it because my mouth was already so dry. They were very sweet to go and get me and ice cream when I asked for a popsicle. Otherwise you got whatever they gave you, whenever they decided to give it to you. The rest of the time I was just left alone in my room, which was fine because I really was not able to move. There are times and it would have been helpful to have someone nearby to hand me lip balm from my bag, but generally I was left by myself. I am 2 weeks out from my procedure so I'm still very swollen, St iff and sore, but I can tell that the surgeon did an excellent job with my procedure. I'm very happy with the results I'm seeing so far and anticipate being even happier as the swelling goes down and my new figure fully reveals itself. This is not the same kind of experience as having cosmetic surgery in the states. There's very little consultation/ pre-op care other than the scheduling. The Aftercare is almost non-existent. I was prepared for that and so I had real significant complaints outside of the lack of pain management offered post procedure.
About Bookimed service
The interface is very easy to use and I was able to get quotes quickly, choose a clinic and book my procedure within a few weeks. I had a very specific time frame that I had already purchased airfare to San Diego for, and the clinic was very accommodating.

I like how fast and easy it was from the start. The surgical facility was small but worked fine. I did not like the post op care. The night nurse was terrible. Her patients were not a priority. Post op care was not made clear. I would have preferred more detailed instructions on after care. I was left guessing about bandages, sprays, medications and scar treatment. Doctor repaired a hernia, of which I was grateful, but would have preferred to have price list in case this occurred so I could have been prepared financially. I felt like price was just made up. So I don't know if I was overcharged. I liked Mexicali as it was a nice quiet clean town. All in all experience was not bad and the price was affordable.
