Igor Pona

Dr. med. Igor Pona is a specialist in plastic, aesthetic and reconstructive surgery at JUVENIS Medical Center in central Vienna. He trained and worked for over a decade at Vienna General Hospital (AKH), Austria's largest hospital and the teaching hospital of the Medical University of Vienna, and combines aesthetic surgery with a strong reconstructive background — facial reconstruction, nerve surgery, burn surgery and microsurgery.

Education and specialist training Dr. Pona received his doctorate from the Medical University of Vienna in November 2004. After his internship at the Protestant Hospital in Vienna (2005–2007), he completed his full specialist training in plastic, aesthetic and reconstructive surgery between 2007 and 2014, at the Department of Plastic, Aesthetic and Reconstructive Surgery of AKH Vienna and at the Meidling Trauma Hospital — one of Austria's principal centres for trauma and reconstructive care.

Hospital career From 2014 to February 2020 Dr. Pona worked as a senior physician (Oberarzt) at the Department of Plastic, Aesthetic and Reconstructive Surgery at AKH Vienna, where he was deputy head of the outpatient clinic for reconstructive and aesthetic facial surgery. In 2014 he also completed clinical training in lymphatic surgery in Taiwan and Japan, at centres internationally recognised for this highly specialised microsurgical field. He has been practising at JUVENIS since 2016.
