Dr. Zeynep Civelek is a general surgeon. She treats benign perianal diseases, including hemorrhoids (with laser), anal fissure, fistula, condyloma, and pilonidal disease, and performs rubber band ligation. She also manages breast disease and cancer, skin cancers, laparoscopic cholecystectomy, and hernias. She worked full-time at Bayindir Levent Medical Center from 2010 to 2025. Earlier, she served at Şişli and Gayrettepe Florence Nightingale Hospitals. She completed her general surgery training at SSK Okmeydanı from 2000 to 2006. She earned her MD from Marmara University, ranking 12th in her class. She also trained in GI surgery for inflammatory bowel disease at the University of Florence in August 2000.
Her research focuses on prognostic factors in breast and colorectal cancer. She wrote a melanoma thesis in 2006 and co-authored papers in Cancer (2005), Breast (2006, 2014), Annals of Surgical Oncology (2008), The Breast Journal (2011), ISRN Oncology (2011), Japanese Journal of Clinical Oncology (2012), World Journal of Surgery (2013; 2,151 patients), International Journal of Surgery (2014), and Journal of Gastrointestinal Cancer (2017).
