What's the cost for Endocrinology procedures in Israel?

Endocrinology in Israel typically costs between $12,900 and $23,500 for international patients. Prices depend on the complexity of the hormonal disorder, the type of surgery or therapy required, and the specialist's seniority. When compared to the United States, patients can find savings of approximately 30-50% for major endocrine procedures.

Typical Endocrinology Costs in Israel

  • Consultation with an endocrinologist: $300 – $400
  • Basic check-up: $300 – $400
  • Check up for women over 40: $800 – $1,400
  • Radioiodine therapy: $5,800 – $12,500
  • Thyroidectomy: $9,800 – $16,800

Most endocrine care is centered in Tel Aviv and Herzliya, which host major medical facilities. While prices are generally standardized for medical tourists, choosing a facility in Haifa might provide slightly lower accommodation costs. Consult with a specialist to get accurate pricing for your specific condition.

There were only positive aspects in working with Bookimed, I was absolutely happy with everything, I was just glad how everything was clear and understandable, but I did not understand some points in working with the clinic. The impression was that for the clinic the result is not so important as making money. I’m not a doctor, but I understand that you can’t take codle tests. A person ate, if a person comes with stomach problems, this is minimal. In fact, we passed tests for $ 750 but did not understand whether we have problems with sugar or not. In Ukraine, they again tested.

Many thanks to all the staff
I am very touched by the attention of the staff. The very professional gimmick of doctors, they do not exacerbate anything more, but on the contrary facilitate the morale state of the patient. Many thanks to all the staff.

FAQ about Endocrinology in Israel

These FAQs come from real patients seeking medical assistance through Bookimed. Answers are given by experienced medical coordinators and trusted clinic representatives.

Which are the leading hospitals for endocrinology in Israel?

Israel's leading endocrinology hospitals include Sheba Medical Center, Sourasky Medical Center (Ichilov), and Hadassah Medical Center. These JCI-accredited facilities are consistently ranked among the world's best by Newsweek. They specialize in complex metabolic disorders, robotic thyroid surgery, and advanced diabetes management using multidisciplinary research-driven protocols.

  • Sheba Medical Center: Ranked among the world's Top 10 hospitals for specialized endocrinology and diabetes.
  • Sourasky Medical Center: Features the specialized Dana Children's Hospital for pediatric endocrine and metabolic disorders.
  • Hadassah Medical Center: A university-affiliated Jerusalem facility treating over 1,000,000 patients with a research-heavy approach.
  • Assuta Medical Center: Israel's largest private hospital group offering patient-selected surgeons for endocrine and bariatric procedures.
  • Rambam Medical Center: The primary referral hub for northern Israel, featuring an award-winning team of professors.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Data shows that while public centers like Sheba and Sourasky handle the highest patient volumes, private facilities like Assuta allow patients to choose their specific surgeon. This is a crucial distinction for specialized procedures like thyroidectomies. Patients seeking pediatric care should prioritize Sourasky, as its Dana Children's Hospital serves over 11,000 children annually with dedicated endocrine specialists like Dr. Naomi Vayntrub.

Patient Consensus: Patients often recommend getting a private referral to major hospitals like Hadassah to avoid long public wait times. They note that while the medical expertise is world-class, the staff's supportive attitude is what truly helps their morale during treatment.

What innovative treatments are available in Israel for endocrine disorders?

Israel offers advanced endocrine care through stem cell therapy for diabetes and molecular targeted treatments like Peptide Receptor Radionuclide Therapy (PRRT). Specialized centers like Sheba Medical Center and Sourasky Medical Center provide robotic adrenal surgery and bioidentical hormone replacement therapy (BHRT) to ensure high precision.

  • Diabetes care: Stem cell therapy for diabetes mellitus ranges from $18,500 to $31,500.
  • Nuclear medicine: Radioiodine therapy for thyroid conditions costs between $5,800 and $12,500.
  • Surgical innovation: Robotic systems at Sourasky Medical Center perform minimally invasive adrenal and thyroid resections.
  • Metabolic solutions: Specialized metabolic surgery for hormonal weight issues ranges $12,500 to Price on request .

Bookimed Expert Insight: Israeli endocrinology stands out because top specialists like Prof. Naomi Vayntrub often hold dual roles in research and clinical practice. This means patients at Sourasky Medical Center access experimental protocols for growth and sexual development disorders years before they reach global markets. Our data shows these academic-linked clinics handle over 400,000 cases annually, providing a massive safety database for complex hormonal treatments.

Patient Consensus: Patients value the morale-boosting approach of Israeli doctors and often find success with non-invasive options like radiofrequency ablation for nodules. Many recommend arranging a virtual consultation first to confirm if specific clinical trials for insulin-free systems are currently accepting international participants.

What questions should I ask my endocrinologist during the first visit in Israel?

During your first endocrinology visit in Israel, focus on diagnostic clarity and treatment timelines. Ask about specific hormone panels like TSH, T4, or insulin. Clarify if symptoms like fatigue are hormonal. Discuss the differences between private care at Assuta and public options at centers like Sheba.

  • Diagnostic tests: Ask which specific hormonal or biochemical tests are needed for your definitive diagnosis.
  • Treatment options: Inquire about procedures like radioiodine therapy or bioidentical hormone replacement therapy (BHRT).
  • Specialist referrals: Confirm if you need specialists like dietitians or bariatric surgeons for metabolic concerns.
  • Timeline: Ask how long it takes to see results from a tailored treatment plan.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Data from major hubs like Sourasky Medical Center shows a trend toward integrated diagnostics. Many specialists there, like Dr. Ilana Itzhakov, lead clinics that combine endocrinology with atherosclerosis prevention. Patients often save time by choosing centers that house on-site labs and imaging. This allows for same-day thyroid ultrasounds or hormonal profiles, cutting the diagnostic phase from weeks to days.

Patient Consensus: Patients note it is important to bring a symptom journal in both English and Hebrew. Some mention that doctors in Israel focus on reducing patient stress by simplifying complex medical explanations during the first visit.

Can endocrinology appointments be scheduled quickly for international patients?

International patients can schedule endocrinology appointments in Israel quickly, with private clinics offering slots within 2–4 weeks. Major centers like Sourasky Medical Center (Ichilov) and Hadassah Medical Center provide dedicated coordination to expedite reviews. Scheduling usually begins within 24–48 hours after submitting medical records.

  • Private clinic speed: Appointments in private facilities typically take 2–4 weeks to arrange.
  • Public system waits: Public hospital wait times often extend to 2–3 months for consultations.
  • Expert coordination: Facilities like Sourasky Center employ dedicated coordinators for international patient logistics.
  • Holiday impact: Avoid scheduling during Rosh Hashanah or Passover when clinic hours reduce.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Israeli private clinics prioritize patients who have their medical files ready in English. Our data shows that clinics like Assuta Medical Center allow patients to choose their specific attending physician. This flexibility often speeds up the process because you can match with a doctor who has immediate availability in their private practice.

Patient Consensus: Patients note that using WhatsApp is the fastest way to get a response from Israeli clinics. It is important to have payment methods and insurance verified early to prevent last-minute appointment cancellations.
