Zygomatic All-on-2 implants in Mexico: Pros and Cons

Zygomatic All-on-2 implants in Mexico can offer significant cost savings, but it's crucial to weigh the potential benefits against the risks.

Pros Cons
Lower costs. Zygomatic All-on-2 implants in Mexico cost $6,000–$10,000 versus $20,000+ in the US, offering up to 50% savings. Safety concerns. Potential risks include infection rates of 2–4% and sinus complications, similar to US averages. Risks are minimized by choosing board-certified specialists.
Qualified surgeons. Surgeons are certified by the Mexican Council of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, often with US/European training and 10+ years’ experience in implantology. Follow-up care. Post-surgical checkups may require travel back to Mexico. Some clinics offer telemedicine support to help manage aftercare remotely.
Modern facilities. Clinics use CAD/CAM technology, Nobel Biocare and Straumann implant systems, and are ISO 9001 certified or accredited by local health authorities. Different regulatory standards. COFEPRIS standards differ from the FDA. However, top clinics follow international protocols and ISO standards, reducing regulatory gaps.
Immediate function. Zygomatic All-on-2 implants allow immediate loading, so patients often receive fixed teeth within 1–3 days after surgery. Procedure-specific risk. Potential risks include sinus membrane perforation (reported in 2–5% of cases), but these are minimized when performed by qualified surgeons.
Personal coordinator support. Bookimed’s medical coordinator helps compare clinics, request personalized quotes, and manage treatment logistics at no additional cost.

It's crucial to thoroughly research clinics and verify surgeon credentials before making a decision. When performed by qualified professionals in reputable clinics, Zygomatic All-on-2 implants in Mexico can offer safe, reliable, and affordable results.

I cannot recommend Jean more highly
RE: Bridge and Implants My extensive experience with dental treatment in the USA is simply unparalleled. Jenna, Alma, Roberto, and Alec together form such an efficient and responsive team. Throughout the entire time, I felt I was in safe hands, being well cared for. These kind individuals were willing to dedicate ample time to me and address all my questions. Even during the process, they were prepared to take the time to ensure I was satisfied with our decisions. I spent significantly less money on them than I would have on all my other expenses. They are true professionals, equipped with modern technology and genuinely caring for their patients. I cannot recommend Jean more highly.
Everything. I’ll add here that the office is a three minute walk from the hotel.
Don’t trust or rely on Hilton’s shuttle service.

We are very satisfied with the quality of work, the professionalism of Dr
This time we contacted the dental center of Mexico Dentavida to Dr. Alberto Guvera. We are very satisfied with the quality of work, the professionalism of Dr. Alberto. But in the case of my husband, a medical mistake was made in Turkish dentistry when installing crowns, which we will try to solve in the near future. Then we will share the results.

Thanks to the Bookimed consultants for their excellent work in providing timely assistance in finding the right clinic in any region of the world. In our case, our family is collaborating for the second time on the problem of dental treatment, the installation of zirconium crowns (autumn 2022, February 2023). I like the individual approach, quick response and understanding of the situation. They are selected qualitatively. not only clinics, but also doctors.

FAQ about Zygomatic All-on-2 implants in Mexico

These FAQs come from real patients seeking medical assistance through Bookimed. Answers are given by experienced medical coordinators and trusted clinic representatives.

What specific type of doctor in Mexico is qualified to perform Zygomatic implant surgeries?

Qualified specialists for zygomatic implants in Mexico are Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons. These doctors hold a specialty degree registered with the Mexican Ministry of Education. They possess advanced training in facial anatomy and bone reconstruction. This expertise is necessary to anchor implants into the cheekbone safely.

  • Board certification: Top surgeons maintain certification by the Mexican Council of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.
  • Advanced credentials: Leading specialists like Dr. Armando Torres hold high specialties in orthognathic and TMJ surgery.
  • International training: Experts often complete fellowships at institutions like Loma Linda University in the USA.
  • Specialized periodontists: Some periodontists with advanced implantology diplomas also perform these complex full-arch rehabilitations.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Data shows that Mexico's elite surgeons often combine academic roles with clinical practice. For example, Dr. Armando Torres at Ortodoncia CDMX has been a surgery professor at UNAM for 20+ years. Patients benefit from doctors who teach the latest reconstructive techniques at the country's top-ranked university.

Patient Consensus: Patients emphasize verifying the official specialty license, known as a cedula profesional, before starting treatment. They often feel more confident when a surgeon suggests simpler alternatives instead of immediately pushing for zygomatic implants. Many value clinics that provide written warranties for implant hardware and surgical work.

How can I verify a Mexican doctor's credentials for complex zygomatic procedures?

Verifying Mexican doctor credentials for zygomatic implants involves checking two specific legal licenses called cedulas. Qualified surgeons must hold a general dental license and a specialty license in oral and maxillofacial surgery. Bookimed confirms these through the official Mexican professional registry (SEP).

  • Specialty certification: Experts like Dr. Armando Torres hold Mexican Council of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery certification.
  • Professional licenses: Surgeons must display a Cédula de Especialidad for surgical procedures, not just dentistry.
  • Academic background: Top doctors often teach at leading institutions like the National Autonomous University of Mexico.
  • International training: Leading specialists maintain memberships in the International Team for Implantology or the ITI.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Data shows that Mexico's top implantologists, such as Dr. Miller Vieira Paula and Dr. Jose Javier Pena Peniche, often hold dual certifications in dentistry and specialized implantology. Patients should prioritize doctors with 10+ years of practice who serve as Key Opinion Leaders for global brands like Ivoclar Vivadent. These experts frequently operate in ADA-accredited facilities in Cancun or Mexico City, providing a higher level of oversight than standard dental offices.

Patient Consensus: Patients note it is important to confirm the surgeon personally performs zygomatic cases regularly. They suggest checking that the clinic uses hospital-grade equipment for these complex surgeries. Many felt more comfortable after verifying the doctor's specific specialty registration through the national registry.

What questions should I ask a Mexican doctor during a virtual consultation for Zygomatic/All-on solutions?

Focus your virtual consultation on surgeon credentials, specialized zygomatic training, and sinus health management protocols. Leading Mexican experts often hold Mexican Council of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery certification. You must confirm if they use computer-guided templates for precise cheekbone anchoring and international implant brands.

  • Surgical expertise: Ask if the doctor is a board-certified maxillofacial surgeon like Dr. Armando Torres.
  • Case volume: Inquire about the total number of zygomatic procedures performed, not just standard implants.
  • Digital planning: Confirm if they use 3D CBCT scans for precise zygomatic implant placement.
  • Contingency plans: Ask about protocols for managing sinus health or potential implant rejection issues.
  • Prosthetic materials: Verify if they use global brands like Straumann or Nobel Biocare for components.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Mexican dental clinics like YeahSmile often feature multidisciplinary teams with unique US-Mexico training backgrounds. For example, Dr. Miller Vieira Paula is a Key Opinion Leader for Ivoclar Vivadent. This means patients receive care from specialists recognized by global industry leaders. When consulting, ask if the clinic is an official provider for major brands. This ensures authentic parts and valid international warranties.

Patient Consensus: Patients emphasize the need to clarify if a plan uses true zygomatic implants or standard upper-jaw versions. They often suggest asking for a blunt explanation of pain and chewing limits. Many were surprised by how much remote follow-up quality mattered after returning home.

Do Mexican maxillofacial doctors perform All-on configurations with zygomatic implants under general anesthesia?

Mexican maxillofacial surgeons perform All-on configurations with zygomatic implants under general anesthesia or deep intravenous sedation. This advanced procedure requires specialized surgical environments. Surgeons typically anchor these implants into the cheekbone to address severe bone loss. This ensures patient comfort and surgical precision.

  • Surgical expertise: Board-certified surgeons like Dr. Armando Torres have 20+ years of university teaching experience.
  • Hospital settings: Complex zygomatic cases often take place in hospital-grade operating rooms for patient safety.
  • Advanced credentials: Leading specialists hold certifications from the Mexican Council of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.
  • Sedation options: Facilities offer general anesthesia or IV sedation managed by qualified anesthesiology professionals.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Data shows a distinction between general dentists and specialized surgeons in Mexico for this procedure. Patients should choose doctors with specific maxillofacial titles, such as those at YeahSmile or Varto Oral Surgery. These clinics often combine surgical teams with digital laboratory technicians to deliver temporary prostheses within 24 hours of zygomatic placement.

Patient Consensus: Patients note that being fully sedated made the complex surgery feel much easier than expected. They often wake up with a new smile the next day but emphasize following strict soft-food diets. Many felt relieved after choosing specialists who focus specifically on severe bone loss cases.
