How Much Does Sweat gland suction Cost in Spain?

The cost of sweat gland suction in Spain typically ranges from $3,000 to $5,500. Prices vary depending on the clinic, the surgeon’s experience, and whether both underarms or other areas are treated. In the United States, the average cost is $6,000 (per ASPS). This means sweat gland suction in Spain is about 28% less expensive than in the U.S.

Spanish clinics usually include the initial consultation, pre-operative assessment, post-op medication, follow-up visits, and 24/7 patient support. Meals during clinic visits and English-speaking staff are also standard. In the U.S., costs often cover only the surgeon’s fee, with anesthesia, medications, and follow-ups billed separately. Always confirm exactly what’s included with your chosen clinic.

Trustworthy, reassuring and all round lovely Dr and person About the Doctor: Trustworthy, reassuring and all round lovely Dr and person About the Clinic: Yes - overall support was brilliant
Trustworthy, reassuring and all round lovely Dr and person Thank you - excited be able to enjoy life again! Yes - overall support was brilliant. Fouad from Bookimed was so patient with me and so helpful, and not sure Teresa ever sleeps. Thank you both! However due to timing I think the initial 24 hours I assume would be better usually, but it is holiday season - I think better expectation setting there and having someone on hand at departure who could inform me of the steps and answer my questions - but despite this I am sure the follow up for me in that short window would not being the usual experience as otherwise the support was amazing and I was given time during holidays by Dr G which I value and appreciate - it is an important time of the process though so I would recommend having someone like Mercedes on hand! It’s scary seeing yourself after surgery and I was left feeling very unaware for nearly 48 hours! I do want to highlight that everyone in the hospital was great and professional the two nurses who looked after me directly after the surgery were so lovely and obviously all involved in the surgery and end to end treatment - but extra special thanks to you Mercedes - a really special human and very valuable member and representative of the organisation and hospital! Thank you

There was only one seal, so I advise you to make the documents more official, so that you would not be so scared to pay for the consultation
Passed online consultation. After the consultation, a treatment plan was created, which we will undergo, further consultations will continue. Online consultation is very convenient and of course there were some doubts, especially when the invoice was billed, because it was a bit confusing, there was only one seal, so I advise you to make the documents more official, so that you would not be so scared to pay for the consultation.

FAQ about Sweat gland suction in Spain

These FAQs come from real patients seeking medical assistance through Bookimed. Answers are given by experienced medical coordinators and trusted clinic representatives.

How does the sweat gland suction procedure work?

Sweat gland suction is a minimally invasive procedure that permanently treats axillary hyperhidrosis by physically removing sweat glands. Surgeons use specialized cannulas to scrape and suction tissues through small incisions. This outpatient technique destroys up to 98% of target glands under local anesthesia in approximately 60 minutes.

  • Surgical technique: Doctors use cannulas for combined suction and curettage to remove glands.
  • Typical incisions: Small 5mm openings are made in the underarm to minimize scarring.
  • Permanent results: Glands do not regenerate, providing a lasting solution for excessive sweating.
  • Safety measures: Tumescent anesthesia numbs the area while reducing bleeding during the process.

Bookimed Expert Insight: While many clinics offer general liposuction, patients seeking permanent dryness should look for specialists like Dr. López Gil at Centro Médico Teknon. He founded their dermatology department and specializes specifically in hyperhidrosis. Our data shows that top Spanish centers offer this procedure for $3,000 to $5,500, which is roughly 28% less than average US costs.

Patient Consensus: Many patients suggest trying non-invasive treatments first. Those who choose surgery report that using massage tools and oils helps manage post-operative swelling or tenderness effectively.

What results can I expect from sweat gland suction?

Sweat gland suction in Spain provides a permanent 75% to 95% reduction in underarm perspiration. Performed by specialists in JCI-accredited facilities, this minimally invasive surgery removes sweat glands via mechanical scraping or laser-assisted suction, significantly improving hyperhidrosis symptoms and reducing body odor.

  • Success rate: Patients typically experience 80% to 85% sweat reduction even during high-stress situations.
  • Results timeline: Final outcomes are visible at 100 days after swelling and lumpiness subside.
  • Gland removal: Surgeons typically target 60% to 70% of glands to prevent compensatory sweating.
  • Immediate impact: Odor reduction occurs immediately as the surgery removes odor-producing apocrine glands.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Patients with higher body fat in the axillary area often see more consistent outcomes. Data from top Spanish clinics like Centro Medico Teknon suggests that the suction cannula navigates tissue more effectively in these cases. For lean or concave armpits, mechanical scraping is often preferred over simple suction to ensure maximum gland clearance.

Patient Consensus: Many find the permanent nature of surgery far superior to repeating Botox every six months. It is common to see a brief return of sweat around day 10, but this is a transient phase before the final dry result.

What is the recovery process like after sweat gland suction?

Recovery after sweat gland suction is minimally invasive and takes 1 to 2 weeks for daily tasks. Patients experience localized swelling and bruising, while treated skin remains extremely tender for roughly 7 days. Most individuals resume desk work in 5 to 7 days in cities like Barcelona or Madrid.

  • Daily activities: Return to office work typically occurs within 5 to 7 days post-procedure.
  • Wound care: Avoid deodorant, antiperspirants, or scented lotions for the first 7 days.
  • Physical restrictions: Skip yoga, heavy lifting, or strenuous arm movements for 2 to 3 weeks.
  • Clothing choice: Wear loose, breathable garments to minimize friction against sensitive underarm skin.
  • Long-term results: Final outcomes stabilize over 6 to 7 months as tissue fully heals.

Bookimed Expert Insight: While patients often focus on sweat reduction, the most significant change is actually odor control. Data suggests a 70% reduction in odor compared to a 30% to 50% reduction in sweat volume. Expert dermatologists in Spain, such as those at Centro Médico Teknon, recommend patient scheduling during cool seasons to ease the 1-week recovery period.

Patient Consensus: Patients find the first week manageable but highlight that underarm skin remains remarkably sensitive. Most report significant relief without experiencing permanent scarring or compensatory sweating elsewhere on the body.

Who is a good candidate for sweat gland suction?

Ideal candidates for sweat gland suction in Spain suffer from severe axillary hyperhidrosis or bromidrosis. This minimally invasive surgical approach is reserved for adults who find prescription antiperspirants or Botox injections ineffective. Suitable patients must be in good health with realistic expectations for long-term sweat reduction.

  • Treatment resistance: Failed clinical strength antiperspirants or temporary medical treatments like Botox.
  • Specific diagnosis: Suffering from pathological excessive sweating, not mild or general moisture.
  • Legal age: Must be 18 or older as sweat glands develop through adolescence.
  • Health status: Non-smokers with no underlying conditions that might impair wound healing.

Bookimed Expert Insight: While many seek suction for odor, our data shows patients often find better results by combining approaches. At clinics like Centro Médico Teknon, specialists like Dr. López Gil provide both laser therapy and surgical suction. This allows for a more personalized plan targeting both eccrine and apocrine glands.

Patient Consensus: Patients emphasize ruling out hormonal imbalances like PCOS before surgery. Many recommend trying Botox first to confirm that localized reduction meets your needs before committing to permanent suction.

Where can I find sweat gland suction treatment in Spain?

Specialized clinics in Madrid, Barcelona, and Marbella offer sweat gland suction for hyperhidrosis. Renowned centers like Centro Medico Teknon and Quironsalud Madrid provide surgical suction-curettage and MiraDry. Board-certified dermatologists and plastic surgeons perform these procedures in Joint Commission International-accredited facilities to ensure high safety standards.

  • Available locations: Madrid, Barcelona, Marbella, and Valencia house top-tier surgical dermatology units.
  • Specialized providers: Centers like Hospital Ruber Internacional maintain high-volume surgical practices.
  • Expert surgeons: Dr. Lopez Gil at Teknon specializes in advanced hyperhidrosis laser and suction.
  • Technique options: Patients choose between surgical suction-curettage and non-invasive MiraDry microwave therapy.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Spain ranks among the top 8 global destinations for specialized medical care. While many clinics offer suction-curettage, the most experienced specialists like those at Centro Medico Teknon often integrate laser-assisted techniques. Choosing a facility with ISO-certified standards ensures consistent outcomes for this specific procedure.

Patient Consensus: Patients suggest verifying if your case requires surgical suction or non-invasive options first. Many recommend avoiding high-risk surgeries like ETS in favor of localized gland removal for fewer complications.
