May the peace and mercy of God be with you. As a great program, the people who use it are great. The answer is excellent, but the last time was through MC Hospital Türkiye. The translator is a man named Issa. It is very weak in translation and does not translate. Why is this from the words of the doctor? Because the doctor spoke for a long time, and the translation was short, so there was a lot of things. It does not translate for me, and it did not benefit me at all, and the examination didn't help, doctor

I am very happy and satisfied with Bookimed service
My experience in the hospital was not the best one. Please don't get me wrong, the hospital is well maintained and organized. The only problem I had was the visa for my husband. They have assigned interpreter for me in Bulgarian (I have not requested, because my husband doesn't speak my language, so we preferred English communication), however the lady took more than two weeks to replay my email and send the invitation letter. The visa was not ready on time. My treatment started and I had to cancel because my husband was not able to come. We have lost a lot of money and of course the delay of our dream. No one even offer an apology to me.. I am very happy and satisfied with Bookimed service. Everyone I talk to is very polite, attentive and try to fulfil all the request and solve the problem. Thank you so much. I will be happy to work with you again.

The doctor was able to diagnose the problem quickly and the results came out positive
Medical team was professional and well experience. The hospital is very far away from the city centre and only two times the transport was provided although we had another consultation scheduled with another doctor at another day when the tests were also supposed to be taken but we had to arrange for the transport ourselves.

Expert Overview about Infertility Treatment in Turkey

These FAQs come from real patients seeking medical assistance through Bookimed. Answers are given by experienced medical coordinators and trusted clinic representatives.

Who is eligible for infertility treatment in Turkey?

Married heterosexual couples using their own genetic material are eligible for infertility treatments in Turkey. National regulations require a valid civil marriage certificate for all procedures. Turkish law specifically prohibits the use of donor eggs, donor sperm, or donor embryos during assisted reproduction cycles.

  • Marital status: Only legally married heterosexual couples can access IVF treatments.
  • Genetic requirements: Procedures must exclusively use the couple's own eggs and sperm.
  • Age guidelines: Most clinics treat women up to age 46 using own eggs.
  • Medical necessity: Eligible conditions include tubal factors, male infertility, or PCOS.

Bookimed Expert Insight: While general guidelines exist, clinics like Hisar Hospital Intercontinental specifically handle complex cases for patients over 40. Data shows Memorial Şişli Hospital maintains a 65% IVF success rate. This suggests that clinical expertise often outweighs strict age boundaries when personal genetic health is high.

Patient Consensus: Patients note that while the law is strict about marriage, the process is very efficient. Many emphasize that having all hormone and semen tests ready before traveling speeds up the initial approval significantly.

What are the IVF success rates in Turkish clinics?

Turkish IVF clinics report success rates between 60% and 75% for patients under 35. National averages show 31% live births per fresh transfer. These rates increase to 51% with Preimplantation Genetic Testing (PGT). Performance depends heavily on maternal age and clinic specialization.

  • Success by age: Rates for women aged 35–40 range from 40% to 55% per cycle.
  • Advanced diagnostics: Clinics use ICSI, time-lapse monitoring, and microscopic surgical sperm extraction (microTESE) for complexity.
  • Specialized outcomes: Memorial Ataşehir Hospital reports a 65% success rate for specialized inpatient IVF treatments.
  • Affiliation standards: Anadolu Medical Center maintains a 60% success rate through its Johns Hopkins affiliation.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Success rates in Turkey often correlate with high-volume surgical backstops. Hospitals like Memorial Şişli serve patients from 167 countries. Clinics with JCI accreditation and 2,000+ performed procedures, such as Dr. Esra Cabuk Comert's Clinic, provide more predictable outcomes for international cases.

Patient Consensus: Patients note that affordability allows for multiple attempts, which is often necessary for success. It is important to have a reliable translator present even during procedures to ensure clear communication.

Is gender selection permitted during IVF in Turkey?

Gender selection during IVF in Turkey is strictly limited to medical necessity. Turkish law prohibits the procedure for elective purposes or family balancing. It is only permitted to prevent the transmission of serious, sex-linked genetic disorders like Hemophilia or Muscular Dystrophy.

  • Legal status: Prohibited by the Ministry of Health for non-medical reasons or personal preference.
  • Medical exceptions: Allowed only for screening hereditary diseases that specifically affect one gender.
  • Genetic screening: Clinics use Preimplantation Genetic Testing (PGT) primarily to ensure chromosomal health.
  • Clinic compliance: Facilities follow strict national ethical guidelines to avoid severe legal penalties.

Bookimed Expert Insight: While Turkey enforces strict limits on gender selection, laboratories like the one at Memorial Şişli Hospital represent the highest tier of genetic expertise. This hospital was the first in Turkey to receive JCI accreditation and maintains a 65% IVF success rate. Patients seeking complex genetic screening for medical reasons should prioritize centers with an integrated genetics department to ensure seamless coordination between the embryology lab and clinical teams.

Patient Consensus: Patients note that the process feels professional and high-quality, often mentioning that clinics provide seamless airport transfers and translation support. Many emphasize that the focus remains on successful pregnancy outcomes and clinical excellence.

How long should I plan to stay in Turkey for a full IVF cycle?

A full IVF cycle in Turkey typically requires a stay of 15 to 21 days. This timeframe starts from the second day of the menstrual cycle and covers ovarian stimulation, egg retrieval, and embryo transfer. Some clinics offer structured programs extending up to 23 days for proper monitoring.

  • Ovarian stimulation: Expect 10 to 12 days of hormone injections with regular clinic monitoring.
  • Egg retrieval: Performed under light sedation roughly 36 hours after the final trigger shot.
  • Embryo development: Specialized labs monitor fertilization and growth for 3 to 5 days.
  • Embryo transfer: This outpatient procedure is followed by a recommended 24 to 48 hour rest.

Bookimed Expert Insight: While most patients plan for 21 days, clinic data shows that high-volume centers like Liv Hospital and Medicalpoint International often structure packages around 20 to 45 days. This extended duration often includes PGT-A genetic screening or complex diagnostic phases. Choosing a package with included hotel stay, like the 20-day options at Medicalpoint, can significantly reduce the stress of managing local logistics during the stimulation phase.

Patient Consensus: Patients often suggest booking a 4-week stay to account for potential biological delays. Many note that staying near clinic hubs like Sisli or Atasehir makes frequent monitoring appointments much easier to manage.

Is it safe to fly after embryo transfer?

Flying after an embryo transfer is scientifically safe and does not reduce pregnancy success rates. Research confirms that embryos are physically secure in the uterus. Changes in cabin pressure or altitude do not cause displacement. Most Turkish specialists clear patients for travel within 24 to 48 hours.

  • Success rates: Studies show no difference in implantation between travelers and non-travelers.
  • Physical safety: Gravity and movement cannot cause an embryo to fall out.
  • Wait time: Waiting 24 hours helps manage post-procedure stress and physical fatigue.
  • Clot prevention: Use compression socks and hydrate to mitigate hormone-related blood clot risks.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Data from major Turkish centers like Memorial Sisli and Anadolu shows that 20-day stays are standard for full IVF cycles. Since transfers happen near the end of this window, most international patients fly home within 48 hours of the procedure without impacting the high 65% success rates reported by these institutions.

Patient Consensus: Patients who traveled to Istanbul for treatment note they flew home as early as the next day with successful results. They emphasize staying hydrated and moving every hour during the flight rather than worrying about the transfer itself.
