How Much Does Threads Lifting Cost in Turkey?

Threads lifting in Turkey typically costs from $1,400 to $3,100. The final price depends on the thread material, number of areas treated, and clinic location. In the US, this procedure costs $4,700 on average. Patients in Turkey can expect savings of approximately 51%. Standard packages usually include the surgeon fee, local anesthesia, airport-hotel transfers, and follow-up care.

  • Thread material: Premium options like Silhouette Soft or PLLA typically cost more than standard PDO threads.
  • Treatment area: Concentrating on a single area like the jawline is more affordable than full-face lifting.
  • Clinic location: Prices in Istanbul are often 15-20% higher than in regional cities like Antalya or Izmir.
  • Service level: High-end facilities with JCI accreditation often charge a premium for their internationally recognized safety standards.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Choosing clinics with specialized medical aesthetic departments offers the best value-to-safety ratio. Quartz Hospital in Istanbul features specialists like Dr. Nur Afsar, who holds advanced certification from the Ulthera and Tesslift academies. This level of expertise ensures precision in non-surgical contouring. While Antalya clinics like Soraca Med offer competitive rates, Istanbul remains the hub for the latest thread technologies and high patient volumes.

It felt like Dr
What stood out was the surgeon's personal attention. He personally checked on me after surgery. Beforehand, Dr. Yaman explained his deep plane technique very clearly for my facelift, which also included my upper and lower eyes, brows, and a lip lift. This personal touch was part of the overall atmosphere. Every thing had a positive vibe; everyone was professional and warm, and the facilities and transportation were exceptional. It felt like Dr. Yaman really cared for you as a person. My recovery is progressing about as expected. I received a clear aftercare guide and had no additional expenses. For me, a little more language support could be useful, but it didn't hinder the process.

My surgeon was fantastic. I felt very reassured when he took the time to explain the deep plane technique so clearly and even drew the incision lines with me right before my surgery. He also personally checked on me after I woke up from the general anesthesia. The procedure covered my full face and neck, and I can confirm there were no additional expenses on top of what was quoted. The clinic facilities are excellent. My only disappointment has been the aftercare, as there has been very little contact from the staff. It's still early in the healing process, so it is too early to tell how the final results will look.
The doctor was warm and patient.
Post-op instructions cold be better .

I'm still in early recovery, and I'm feeling better than expected
My surgeon was very honest about what constituted realistic results for my age and took the time to explain exactly where the incisions for my lower face and neck procedure would be placed. That conversation set the tone for the entire process. I'm still in early recovery, and I'm feeling better than expected. The clinic staff has been easy to reach and has stayed in touch, which is comforting. Be prepared for some additional expenses, like extra lab tests and all meals except breakfast. My one piece of advice is to ask the clinic beforehand if your hotel is in a walkable area, as that can make a difference.
Translator took care of all my needs Spoke excellent English
The hotel could have been in a better area for walking and restaurants

The operation went very well about the result I am very very happy it looks just fantastic
When I arrived in Antalya, I was received very friendlly, Then we went to the doctor for cosultation. There I was cosulted in detail and we determined the treatment. Afterwards we drove to the hospital for the necesssary examinations. After that we were taken to our hotel. The next morning we were picked up again and taken to the hospital where the staff was very routine and professional and the preparations went very quickly. The aftercare after the operation was excellent, the nurses were really very warm and I felt very well taken care of. The operation went very well about the result I am very very happy it looks just fantastic all in all I am completely satisfied with the whole organization and execution of this trip. My special thanks go to Doctor Sener, and his team for this outdstanding performace. In addition, I would like to thank our care Tarik and Murat very much, they were always available and ensure a really pleasant stay All in all, always happy⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

It’s incredible value for the level of skill and comfort you receive
There’s a reason Turkey is the number one destination for medical tourism! I decided to book my procedure at Aktif International Hospital with Dr. Umran after having several consultations with other surgeons in my home city of Phoenix, USA and nearby Tijuana, Mexico. The surgical expertise, care by hospital staff and high end accommodations made my decision to fly to Istanbul a choice I stand behind. I highly recommend booking your surgery at Aktif International Hospital. It’s incredible value for the level of skill and comfort you receive. Many of my friends want to go here for their next procedure after seeing my results.
The warmth of the people I met. Even though I traveled by myself, I didn’t feel alone.
The painkillers post-op weren’t strong enough and I couldn’t sleep for two days after surgery.
About Bookimed service
The booking process was incredibly smooth. I felt very secure throughout the process, and all transactions were professional and trustworthy.

It is because of Aliser that the decision was made to come here
Aliser Durdıyev is a jewel in the crown of Florence Nightingale Hospital. Available 24/7. Speaks excellent English. Arranged everything including sightseeing tours. I was completely safe as a single female in Istanbul for my surgery Wonderful MDs and cuisine I’m in the medical field and Istanbul met my exacting standards. I m so glad I came rather than South America. As language barriers are greater there. It is because of Aliser that the decision was made to come here. And even in spite of international concerns ,Istanbul is still one of the best medical destinations

I’ve been various places in the world but am totally impressed with the culture here My plastic surgeon Dr Ahmet Yuvaci was well trained After 2 video meetings I knew he would be the correct choice for 65 and older face lift. The results are excellent And Aliser arranged the connection. By the way. I had spent months in discussions with 4 or 5 MDs before this final decision

At 50, I looked like I was 25 again!!!
Having decided on facial plastic surgery, I chose a clinic for a long time, where I would trust. After at least 5 online consultations with various clinics, for some reason the choice was made at the Dr.MED clinic and I did not regret my choice at all !!!! I have never met a more friendly, more well-coordinated team !!! The doctor's special approach to his work: his professionalism and golden hands work wonders: I had: Mid Face Lift, Neck Lift, Lower and Upper Blepharoplasty Endoscopic Temporal Lifting and all this amount of work, which was performed by Dr. Khakan Temur in just 7 hours. The effect is unpredictable for me !!!! At 50, I looked like I was 25 again!!! I am very grateful to Dr. Khakan Temur for professionalism, Narminochka and Samra for their friendliness and experiences, for professional organization. I got the impression that this team works 24/7 Good luck and development !!! I will definitely visit you again, now without hesitation !!!!

My incisions seperated and bleeding. No adequate assistance offered.and no one turned up. They treated me like I was a nuisance and warned me never to come to the clinic. I was abused verbally by the surgeon. Dr Aykut is arrogant, obnoxious and rude. My nose is hideous, and far worse than before. My nostrils are now to the front of my nose and my columella is massive, and so is my tip. It was the biggest mistake I have ever made. Even when I was bleeding on and off, the surgeon shouted at me and told me not to come to the clinic. The co-ordinator is so bad at communication. I do not recommend this clinic and I am so distressed about my nose. I feel that he butchered my nose. 1st 2 photos after surgery, 3rd photo before surgery at the clinic. Hideous. My nose wasn’t bed before but now it has been butchered with a hanging middle columella and massive nostrils with a bulbous tip. No amount of swelling will ever hide the fact that this is a botched result.
I am too distressed to even consider anything that I liked. It was a horror story
Dr Aykut was awful. His surgery results and his manner was dismissive, rude and arrogant. The excessive bruising was as a result of the surgeons roughness. No photos taken to evidence results. No digital simulation for nose pre-op as promised. My under eyes were excluded from the process, yet No discount offered. The disregard for their patients is shocking.
About Bookimed service
Bookimed failed to assist me in getting the surgeon to attend to me when my liplift seperated. They were not impartial and I felt ganged-up against. No effort or oversight was given to my my medical emergency and I was given the impression that the surgeon would be available for aftercare during my stay in Turkey

The result of the facelift turned out really good
Good communications with the clinic and Dr. Aysel Pasazade was great and professional. The result of the facelift turned out really good. The nurses were also very nice and made my stay at the clinic a positive experience. I recommend to arrive early the day before surgery to have the consultation because it can be stressful in the morning on the same day.
Good communications with the clinic and Dr. Aysel Pasazade was great, professional and makes great results. The nurses were really nice and made my stay at the clinic a positive experience.
I wish I would have came earlier the day before surgery to have a consultation with the doctor. I was appointed a new doctor (the day before) and advised to do a different procedure (on same day as surgery) so I had to make decisions on the spot. I was offered the oppertunity to have a consultation the day before if I would have arrived early, and thats something I would really recommend to others.

The medical staff for two days in the clinic doing good job and keep me under very serious medical surveillance
Complete face lift is not an easy proceed. It was without any pain at all long. The after surgery mask wearing is naturally uncomfortable and create difficulty to sleep. The medical staff for two days in the clinic doing good job and keep me under very serious medical surveillance. The clinic is very clean and I have not any problem to recovery, no eventual infection.
Professional approach of the clinic to the pre surgery, transfers and payments etc
The hotel moved me 3 times room to room ... and the end for a week in a basement without sunlight ... cleaning only twice ... expensive and very average quality of the food
About Bookimed service
All process is very professional and well-established procedures from reservation-transfer-pre surgery-surgery-recovery in the hotel.

Unfortunately, my experience with this clinic was extremely negative. The initial consultation lasted no more than 20 minutes; everything was rushed and felt pressured. There were many strangers in the room, and there was no sense of privacy. The main focus was not on explaining the procedure, but on urgently signing documents and paying the full amount. The prices turned out to be significantly higher than advertised. For example, the cost of a Doppler (ultrasound) scan of the lower limbs was not initially disclosed, and it later transpired that they charged around €500 for it, although such a procedure usually costs a fraction of that. When asked about this price, the response was along the lines of ‘we are a premium clinic’, without any specific justification. The conditions at the clinic do not match the advertised standard: the ward was dirty, and there had been virtually no cleaning for two days. The staff speak neither German nor English, which makes communication very difficult. I had to wait up to 30 minutes for pain relief. The documents I signed were only issued to me a month and a half later and after numerous reminders. I would like to make a special mention of the coordinator (Elif): replies were delayed by anywhere from a few days to several weeks, or did not arrive at all. After complications arose, I was left without support or a solution to the problem. Overall, it feels as though everything at the clinic is run on an assembly-line basis, with little regard for the patient. I categorically do not recommend either the clinic or the doctor.

I wish all the staff Akylay who helped me through this a big thank you
I came to turkey on my own. The staff were lovely and so supportive. I felt secure and well cared for. I was treated at Hospital. My appointment with Dr suggested a few tweaks to the initial treatment plan and I was reassured by this that he had my best outcome in mind. He was very professional and gave you lots of confidence. I met my anaesthesiologist and the chief medical director. There was not one time I felt that I did not know what was going on. I wish all the staff Akylay who helped me through this a big thank you. It is only 5 days post surgery. But my checkup with Dr MED today went well. Very little pain and swelling going down nicely. A special mention to the staff at hotel Modus who looked after me with bags of ice for swelling and lovely food and to Akilay who was my guide through all this and made sure that not only did I get everything I needed…….but I made the most of my time here in Istanbul, which is a beautiful city.

Two thirds of the face lift, neck platysmaplasty, temporal lift, lower laser eye resurfacing and not a single bruise, it is impressive!
Excellent medical staff. Very positive and friendly attitude to patients. Kudos to the surgeon for his jewellery work. The only thing I would like to improve is the communication between the interpreters, which would improve the organisation in some issues. It is too early to say about the final result, but two thirds of the face lift, neck platysmaplasty, temporal lift, lower laser eye resurfacing and not a single bruise, it is impressive!
Attitude to patients, professionalism of surgeon and medical staff. Good hotel.

He most certainly has
I am leaving a detailed review covering four procedures I’m from the U.K. I had a Rhinoplasty, Blepharoplasty, deep plane neck and lower face lift on 29th December 2024 with Dr Ali SADIOGLU. Whilst my overall results can’t yet be seen I would like to tell you what I can for now. Dr Ali SADIOGLU has a professional approach to his work but remains compassionate, empathetic and respectful to your needs and wishes. He listens to what you are saying and discusses any concerns, issues and questions that you have about your procedure. He advises you. He is truthful about the results that you could achieve. The pre procedure coordinator, Defne, was invaluable. Her services before arriving in Istanbul were excellent. Fluent English is spoken and no question was too much for her to deal with and answer promptly. Without Defne and her attention to the detail of my potential booking I would not have booked. Well done Defne. My procedure coordinator and my English speaking contact in Istanbul was Elif. The wonderful, professional, never tiring, always available Elif. She was amazing. Elif attended all my appointments with me. Travelled in the taxis with me but remained professional. She ensured that there were no issues with translation (despite my surgeon speaking excellent English) 5*’s for service and patience. *RHINOPLASTY* Having a Rhinoplasty at 57yrs old concerned me. Dr Ali SADIOGLU Explained in detail exactly what he thought would look best for my face. I put my entire trust in him and the end product was AMAZING. My new nose was unveiled a week after surgery. IT WAS PERFECT. I can’t thank Dr Ali SADIOGLU enough. Since arriving back in the U.K. friends and family have described my nose as beautiful and whilst I would not use that word usually about myself, it’s a truly beautiful nose. *BLEPHAROPLASTY* Dr Ali SADIOGLU explained how he could improve the look of my eyes with a small procedure. The micro detail in this small area needed the skills of Dr Ali SADIOGLU. I no longer look tired. Again, I am so pleased that I put my trust in him. *DEEP PLANE NECK AMD LOWER FACE LIFT* My research lead me to Dr Ali SADIOGLU and I am pleased that it did. My final outcome won’t be seen for a few months so I will review the first two weeks. Prior to meeting Dr Ali SADIOGLU I sent photos and a description of what I thought I wanted to achieve and he carried out a remote consultation. When I met Dr Ali SADIOGLU, we went through a detailed consultation in person. He answered all my questions and addressed all my concerns. He explained where the incision lines would be and described the deep plane process in detail. I was confident the I was Dr Ali SADIOGLU‘s next patient. Surgery went well. Dr Ali SADIOGLU visited me after surgery and also the next day. The care by him and his team was exceptional. All the aftercare was explained clearly. Moving on to the result…. I write this review at 2 weeks post op. My stitches are where Dr Ali SADIOGLU said they would be and are healing nicely. Whilst my face is swollen still, I can see its new tighter, younger and smoother look. Everything is as it should be at this stage. People have told me that I already look 15 years younger. I’m sorry for the length of the review but Dr Ali SADIOGLU deserves this review. He is an amazing surgeon. Someone previously described him as having ‘magic hands’. He most certainly has. I promise to you that I will update this review as time goes by so you have the full picture. You don’t have to pick the surgeon that has the most 5* reviews to find the best. Dr Ali SADIOGLU Is a hidden Turkish Gem.
The skills of the surgeon that I chose
I would have appreciated written instructions for after care and use of medications. There were so many things to remember. Even though I could ask my coordinator anything at anytime it would have helped as a handy reference

All You Need to Know about Threads Lifting in Turkey

Medical Disclaimer: This article is for informational purposes only and is not medical advice. Always consult a qualified healthcare provider before any medical decisions. Results may vary. Read the full disclaimer

Is a Thread Lift in Turkey Right for You?

A thread lift works best on mild to moderate sagging, when your skin still has good thickness and elasticity. It repositions tissue by a few millimeters. That refreshes an early jowl or a softening midface rather than reversing advanced aging.

Who a thread lift suits best

The typical candidate is in their late 30s to early 50s, with early jowling or midface descent. The skin still bounces back when pressed. Turkish aesthetic doctors like Dr. Nur Afsar at Quartz Hospital and Dr. Emel Erunal in Antalya assess this in a pre-travel consultation.

When a facelift is the better option

Threads reposition soft tissue, but can't remove excess skin. If your skin is significantly loose, it can pucker over the threads, and a surgical facelift gives a cleaner result. The main differences are downtime and how long the result holds. A thread lift lasts about 1–3 years. A deep-plane facelift repositions muscle, removes skin, and can hold for 7–10 years, according to the Cleveland Clinic.

Thread liftSurgical facelift
MechanismRepositions soft tissue a few millimetersRepositions muscle and removes skin
AnesthesiaLocalGeneral
DowntimeA few days2–3 weeks

When a thread lift may not be recommended

Very thin or fragile skin can affect thread placement, as the threads may become visible or palpable underneath. Raise these points with your surgeon at consultation, as any one of them can rule the procedure out:

  • Pregnancy or breastfeeding: best postponed until after;
  • Active skin infection, such as an acne flare or a cold sore near the treatment site;
  • Bleeding or clotting disorders, plus ongoing use of blood thinners, need review first;
  • Active autoimmune disease or a tendency to form keloid scars;
  • A known allergy to the threads or to local anesthetic rules the procedure out;
  • Permanent fillers already placed in the same area complicate placement.

How Long Does a Thread Lift Last? PDO vs PLLA vs PCL Threads

How long your lift lasts comes down mostly to the thread material. Not the number of threads, and not the price tier. Turkey's clinics work with all three main polymers, and each behaves differently once it's under the skin.

ThreadDissolves inResults lastWhat it does
PDO (polydioxanone)6–9 months8–12 monthsStiffer; drives collagen for tightening
PLLA (poly-L-lactic acid)12–18 months18–24 monthsStimulates Type I and III collagen; restores midface volume
PCL (polycaprolactone)18–24 months2–3 yearsLongest-lasting; also boosts elastin and hydration

Part of the result comes from how your body responds to the threads over time. Threads work by triggering your body's own collagen response to the absorbable suture. Therefore, patients will notice a gradual, progressive improvement in skin tone and firmness over time as new collagen forms, the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS) explains.

In a laboratory animal-model comparison, PCL threads stimulated more Type III collagen than PDO, which may help explain their longer tightening effect, researchers found. This suggests that thread material can influence how long the tightening effect lasts, with PDO offering a shorter-term option and PCL tending to provide greater longevity.

Do More Threads Mean a Better Lift? What the Evidence Shows

More threads don't necessarily mean a better or longer-lasting lift. A randomized trial put this to the test, comparing 6 threads total against 12, using barbed PDO threads. Thread designs range from smooth mono and screw types to the barbed cogs used in that study.

By day 60, there was no statistically significant difference in tissue lift or volume between the two groups, the trial reported. Satisfaction scores at 60 days were also no different. Tissue displacement had diminished by 60 days in both groups, with no significant difference between them, the same study found. The early mechanical pull eases over time in both groups. The study found no evidence that doubling the number of threads produced a stronger or longer-lasting lift over the 60-day follow-up.

The price difference can be significant. A thread lift in Turkey runs $1,400–$3,100. That's against $2,500–$6,800 in the US and $2,400–$5,200 in the UK – up to 54% less than typical US pricing and around 40% below the UK.

Thread Lift Recovery and What to Expect

Most thread-lift side effects are mild and settle on their own within the first month. A pooled analysis covering 2,827 patients found that most reported side effects occurred during the early healing period and settled as recovery progressed.

Short-term effects some patients experience

These show up in the first days and nearly all clear within about four weeks, the pooled analysis shows:

  • Swelling: about 34% of patients, easing within four weeks.
  • Bruising: about 26%, fading in the same window.
  • Mild soreness: about 11%, usually gone within days.

Less common longer-term effects

Longer-term effects are less frequent, and the odds of avoiding them are high, the same data shows:

  • Visible or palpable threads: about 10%.
  • Dimpling or slight asymmetry: about 7%.
  • Numbness: about 5–6%, usually fading as healing completes.
  • A thread tip surfacing: about 5%, and it's easily corrected in clinic.

Thread design also influences the balance between lifting strength and recovery. Straight, cannula-loaded threads keep overall complications under 5%. Stronger anchored threads can provide more lift, with somewhat more bruising and dimpling, one review reports. Ask which type your surgeon plans to use, and why.

How issues are managed

Most minor issues can be managed during the normal recovery period. Mild dimpling often smooths out on its own over 3–6 months. If a thread tip ever surfaces, the clinician removes it rather than pushing it back in. Turkish partner clinics work to recognized standards that keep these odds low. For example, CE International Hospital in Istanbul is ISO-certified, and Quartz Hospital's aesthetic work is led by a doctor who's an active member of the International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ISAPS).

When Can You Fly Home After a Thread Lift in Turkey?

Plan to stay in Turkey for a few days after your thread lift, and don't fly for the first 72 hours. That short buffer protects the freshly treated tissue before a long-haul flight.

The 72-hour flight rule

Plastic surgeons generally advise waiting at least 72 hours (3 days) before boarding a plane after a thread lift to allow initial swelling to settle and reduce the risk of tissue displacement. Staying about 5–7 days gives you time to get through the early-healing window first. Cabin-pressure changes can trigger facial swelling. That stresses the tiny entry points and can shift a newly placed thread, so the timing of your flight matters.

Turkey makes this easy to plan. Packages that bundle hotel nights and airport transfers build the recovery days in for you. SALUSS Medical Group in Antalya, 20 km from the international airport, is one such option on the platform.

Aftercare for the first weeks

The first month has a few simple rules:

  • Sleep on your back, head raised on pillows, for the first 3–5 nights.
  • Avoid heat from saunas, hammams, steam rooms, and direct sun for about 3 weeks.
  • Skip facial massage or rubbing for about 4 weeks, and postpone dental work and wide yawning for roughly 3.
  • Choose acetaminophen over ibuprofen or aspirin, which can increase bruising.
  • Leave makeup off for the first 24–48 hours.

How to Verify Your Surgeon and Clinic in Turkey

A few questions at consultation can help you assess your surgeon's qualifications and the clinic's standards. Here's what to look for.

Confirm the surgeon

A qualified Turkish plastic surgeon completes a full residency, not a short course, and holds recognized board credentials. The strongest signals are membership in ISAPS and certification by the European Board of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery (EBOPRAS). These credentials should be clearly listed on the surgeon's profile. For legal registration, the Turkish Medical Association (TTB) is the body every practicing doctor must join. The Turkish Society of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgeons (TSPRAS) sets out what to look for in its patient checklist.

Ask one more thing at consultation: that the surgeon who advises you is the same one who performs your procedure.

Confirm the facility

Choose a licensed medical facility with appropriate standards for sterile procedures. Look for a Ministry of Health health-tourism license, plus international accreditation such as Joint Commission International (JCI) or ISO certification. Quartz Hospital in Istanbul is one example on the platform, rated 4.7/5 across 100+ reviews.

Confirm the threads used

Before you leave, ask for a discharge folder with the thread cards and details of the products used. Each should list the thread brand, the polymer (PDO, PLLA, or PCL), and the batch numbers. Common brands you might see there include Silhouette Soft, MINT, or Aptos. Confirm the threads are FDA-cleared or CE-marked. It's a small step, and it matters if you ever need follow-up care once you're home.

FAQ about Threads Lifting in Turkey

These FAQs come from real patients seeking medical assistance through Bookimed. Answers are given by experienced medical coordinators and trusted clinic representatives.

Is it safe to get a thread lift in Turkey?

Thread lifts in Turkey are safe when performed by board-certified plastic surgeons or aesthetic physicians in Ministry of Health licensed facilities. Turkey enforces strict regulations through the Health Tourism Authorization Certificate, ensuring clinics maintain international hygiene standards and use medical-grade, CE-marked, or FDA-approved threads.

  • Provider credentials: Surgeons often hold Turkish Society of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgeons (TPRECD) certification.
  • Clinical oversight: Facilities like Lokman Hekim Istanbul Hospital maintain Joint Commission International (JCI) accreditation standards.
  • Advanced training: Specialized doctors like Nur Afsar at Quartz Hospital undergo specific international thread lifting training.
  • Safety records: Established centers serve up to 250,000 patients annually with regulated surgical safety protocols.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Data shows a significant experience gap between multi-specialty hospitals and boutique aesthetic clinics. While price fluctuates between $1,400 and $3,100, hospitals like Quartz Hospital or CE International Hospital report higher patient volumes, often exceeding 6,000 cases yearly. This high repetition typically leads to more predictable contouring results and lower migration risks.

Patient Consensus: Patients emphasize verifying individual surgeon case volumes rather than just clinic marketing. While savings reach 51%, many advise arranging a video consultation first to ensure clear communication regarding post-procedure support.

What are the common risks and side effects?

Threads lifting in Turkey is a minimally invasive surgical alternative involving temporary sutures to produce a visible lift in the skin. Common side effects include localized swelling, bruising, and minor discomfort at insertion points, which generally subside within 7 to 14 days without permanent complications.

  • Insertion site reactions: Expect temporary redness, swelling, or bruising lasting up to 2 weeks.
  • Thread palpability: Patients may feel regular ridges or thread ends under the skin surface.
  • Asymmetry risks: Differential lifting between facial sides may require minor corrective revision procedures.
  • Nerve sensations: Temporary numbness or tingling can occur while the tissue heals around threads.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Data from clinics like Quartz Hospital shows that most post-op concerns stem from normal 14-day swelling peaks. Choosing surgeons with International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ISAPS) membership significantly reduces the risk of thread migration. This expertise is vital since threads typically begin natural degradation around 9 months after placement.

Patient Consensus: Patients often mention feeling the threads along the jawline for several months. Many advise planning for a full 2 weeks of downtime to manage significant initial facial puffiness.

What is a Turkey Thread Lift and how does it work?

A Turkey thread lift is a non-surgical procedure using dissolvable polydioxanone (PDO) sutures to lift sagging facial and neck tissue. Surgeons insert barbed threads via cannulas to mechanically reposition skin, while smooth threads stimulate long-term collagen production to maintain firmness for up to 2 years.

  • Procedure mechanism: Barbed threads provide immediate mechanical lifting by grabbing sub-dermal tissue.
  • Collagen stimulation: New collagen `scaffolding` forms over 6–8 months as threads dissolve.
  • Recovery period: Most patients manage swelling for 1 week and resume activities within 48 hours.
  • Treatment longevity: Rejuvenation effects typically last 1–2 years depending on the thread material used.

Bookimed Expert Insight: While many providers suggest 100 threads, Bookimed data shows some Turkish clinics utilize 200+ threads for full-face treatments. Specialists like Dr. Nur Afsar at Quartz Hospital emphasize that combining different thread types—barbed for lifting and smooth for volume—creates more natural-looking results than using a single variety.

Patient Consensus: Patients report an immediate lifting effect that feels like a firm `fishing line` under the skin. Many recommend stocking arnica for bruising and suggest starting with fewer threads to ensure a balanced, symmetrical outcome.

Who is the ideal candidate?

The ideal candidate for a thread lift in Turkey is typically aged 35 to 55 with mild-to-moderate skin laxity. Successful patients possess resilient skin and good bone structure to support the threads. This minimally invasive procedure suits those seeking facial rejuvenation without undergoing a full surgical facelift.

  • Skin quality: Thicker, resilient skin holds sutures better than very thin or sun-damaged tissue.
  • Laxity level: Best results appear in patients with early sagging rather than severe jowls.
  • Realistic expectations: Candidates should anticipate a 40–60 % lifting effect compared to surgical results.
  • Maintenance mindset: Ideal patients understand that results are temporary, typically lasting 6–18 months.
  • Health status: Non-smokers and those without healing disorders achieve the most reliable recovery.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Clinical data suggests patients with rounder face shapes often achieve better aesthetic harmony by combining threads with dermal fillers. At clinics like Quartz Hospital, specialists like Dr. Nur Afsar use this dual approach to restore lost volume while lifting. This combination helps prevent the `pulled` look and ensures the 6–12 month dissolution process appears natural.

Patient Consensus: Many patients emphasize that earlier intervention serves as an effective preventative measure. They often suggest planning for retreatment cycles and strictly following sleep position restrictions to avoid thread displacement.

How long do results last?

Threads lifting results in Turkey typically last between 1 to 3 years. Longevity depends on thread material, skin quality, and metabolic rate. While PDO threads biodegrade within 6 to 12 months, the structural lift persists due to new collagen production stimulated during the absorption process.

  • Material durability: Polydioxanone (PDO) threads usually offer visible lifting effects for 12 to 18 months.
  • Collagen stimulation: Results extend beyond thread absorption as natural collagen provides ongoing skin structural support.
  • Age factor: Patients over 50 may see results fade within 12 months due to decreased elasticity.
  • Maintenance tips: Using retinoids and consistent sun protection helps preserve lifting effects for up to 2.5 years.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Data from Quartz Hospital, where surgeons hold International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ISAPS) membership, shows that combining threads with treatments like Ulthera or Radiesse can significantly extend the aesthetic lifespan. This multi-layer approach addresses both surface texture and deep structural sagging more effectively than threads alone.

Patient Consensus: Most patients notice fading after 18 months and suggest annual touch-ups to maintain the contour. Results remain more stable for those who avoid smoking and maintain a steady weight after the procedure.

What is the recovery time?

Recovery after thread lifting in Turkey typically lasts 5 to 10 days for primary bruising and swelling. Patients often feel the threads under their skin for 2 to 3 weeks. Final facial contours usually settle between 8 and 12 weeks following this non-surgical procedure.

  • Initial downtime: Most patients manage swelling and minor bruising within 5 to 10 days.
  • Sensation period: Expect a palpable thread sensation or mild discomfort for 2 to 3 weeks.
  • Activity restrictions: Avoid heavy exercise and high-intensity gym workouts for at least 3 weeks.
  • Result timeline: Visible improvements appear by week 4, with final results at 3 months.

Bookimed Expert Insight: While clinics often market this as a weekend procedure, data from top Istanbul centers shows 1-week follow-ups are standard. Dr. Nur Afsar at Quartz Hospital specifically integrates advanced anatomy techniques to minimize the 2-week numbness often unreported by high-volume providers.

Patient Consensus: Many suggest budgeting 3 to 4 weeks before major social events. Sleeping elevated on several pillows for 14 days is essential to control persistent facial puffiness.

What post-treatment restrictions should I follow?

Post-treatment care for thread lifting in Turkey focuses on preventing thread displacement and minimizing swelling. Patients must sleep on their backs for 7 days and avoid facial massages or dental work for 4 weeks. Standard protocols in clinics like Quartz Hospital include using ice packs and avoiding high-heat environments.

  • Sleeping position: Sleep propped at 45 degrees for 1 week to prevent thread migration.
  • Activity restrictions: Avoid strenuous exercise and heavy lifting for 2 to 6 weeks.
  • Heat avoidance: Stay away from saunas and hot showers as heat affects PDO threads.
  • Facial care: Skip all facial treatments and dental procedures for at least 4 weeks.

Bookimed Expert Insight: While basic recovery takes a week, the highest patient satisfaction in Turkish clinics comes from those who plan trips during cooler months. Excessive heat in cities like Antalya can increase post-procedure swelling and discomfort. Expert practitioners like Dr. Nur Afsar at Quartz Hospital emphasize that strict adherence to the 7-day back-sleeping rule is the single most important factor in preventing thread `popping` or asymmetry.

Patient Consensus: Patients emphasize using a travel pillow to maintain a face-up position while sleeping. Most recommend dedicated icing during the first 24 hours to significantly reduce visible bruising.
