I had a very positive experience throughout my whole journey to get surgery in BCN. I was led to Dr. Conesa who was professional, attentive, caring, and . I felt completely confident in his skills and ability. He made himself available to speak to me at anytime before and after surgery, which was so appreciated. The hospital care was exemplary, it was impressive how quickly I moved through the preoperative visits, blood work, X-rays, anesthesia visit etc. Post op care was great. I had a very positive experience all the way through. I can recommend, BookiMed 100% who helped navigate the process .

Trustworthy, reassuring and all round lovely Dr and person Thank you - excited be able to enjoy life again! Yes - overall support was brilliant. Fouad from Bookimed was so patient with me and so helpful, and not sure Teresa ever sleeps. Thank you both! However due to timing I think the initial 24 hours I assume would be better usually, but it is holiday season - I think better expectation setting there and having someone on hand at departure who could inform me of the steps and answer my questions - but despite this I am sure the follow up for me in that short window would not being the usual experience as otherwise the support was amazing and I was given time during holidays by Dr G which I value and appreciate - it is an important time of the process though so I would recommend having someone like Mercedes on hand! It’s scary seeing yourself after surgery and I was left feeling very unaware for nearly 48 hours! I do want to highlight that everyone in the hospital was great and professional the two nurses who looked after me directly after the surgery were so lovely and obviously all involved in the surgery and end to end treatment - but extra special thanks to you Mercedes - a really special human and very valuable member and representative of the organisation and hospital! Thank you

Pros

Cons

  • Healthcare quality can vary depending on the region. While cities like Milan and Rome offer exceptional care, smaller towns may have fewer specialized cancer centers.

We successfully operated on our daughter Nika Popova at the San Donato clinic (Italy). Thank you so much for the Bookimed service for the excellent organization of the trip. Our manager Aleksey Karaganov was always in touch and helped with all issues (visas, booking, medical and legal issues). The clinic, staff, ward are all at the highest level and the main thing is that real masters of their craft work there. Our attending physicians were delighted with the results of the most complicated heart surgery, the Ross operation. It is unfortunate that politics affects not only ordinary citizens, but also their children. I wish you patience, kindness and health to you and your loved ones, so that as many children from all over the world as possible can receive help. Thank you very much to Alexei and your entire team.

How to Choose the Best Cancer Treatment Clinic

A specialized hospital for cancer care is a medical facility dedicated to the diagnosis, treatment, and management of various types of cancer. These hospitals are equipped with a multidisciplinary team of medical professionals, including oncologists, surgeons, radiologists, and other specialists, who collaborate to provide comprehensive care to cancer patients.

Specialized hospitals also place a strong emphasis on clinical cancer research. Many of these institutions participate in clinical trials and studies.

Choosing the right cancer treatment clinic is crucial for your health. Here's how to make an informed decision:

Reputation and expertise

Look for clinics known for treating your specific type of cancer. Check verified patient reviews to ensure the clinic's quality and success rates.

Range of treatments

Choose clinics offering a variety of treatments like chemotherapy, radiotherapy, immunotherapy, and targeted therapies to ensure personalized care.

Accreditations

Ensure the clinic is accredited by trusted organizations such asNational Cancer Institute (NCI), or the American Cancer Society (ACS) to guarantee high standards.

Specialist expertise

Ensure the clinic employs experienced, board-certified oncologists specialized in your cancer type. Specialist expertise leads to better treatment outcomes.

How Safe Is Cancer Treatment Abroad?

Cancer treatment in Europe is safe, with top clinics accredited by organizations like the European Organisation for Research and Treatment of Cancer (EORTC) and the European Society for Therapeutic Radiology and Oncology (ESTRO), ensuring high-quality care.

❗While risks at verified clinics are rare, they can include infection, bleeding, adverse reactions to anesthesia, radiation burns, organ damage from chemotherapy, blood clots, and delayed wound healing. However, these risks are minimized with experienced oncologists and advanced medical technologies.

👉Research shows that targeted prostate cancer treatments have led to a remarkable five-year survival rate of 97–98% despite the potential risks involved.

💚 Choosing an accredited European clinic ensures the highest safety standards and expert care throughout your cancer treatment journey.
