Verified review.
I like the speed and doctor’s expertise and empathy level. However, especially for my ENT issue is remain unresolved and the resolution offered is not satisfactory. If doctor could conduct further test and do better follow ups, maybe then able to understand and analyse the root cause of issues. At this point, there’s still no understanding of the situation nor any right support with my symptoms and issues.
Efficient and really like how empathetic the staff are.
- no further test was done - no further follow-ups done properly - no resolution offered

Expert Overview about Peyronie's disease Treatment in Lithuania

These FAQs come from real patients seeking medical assistance through Bookimed. Answers are given by experienced medical coordinators and trusted clinic representatives.

What are the primary treatment options for Peyronie's disease available in Lithuania?

Peyronie's disease treatment in Lithuania includes non-surgical and surgical options focused in Vilnius. Specialists utilize shockwave therapy (ESWT) and intralesional injections like Collagenase or Verapamil for early stages. Chronic cases are managed via penile plication, grafting, or prosthesis implantation at JCI-accredited facilities.

  • Shockwave therapy: Uses MoreNova large-area technology to reduce plaque and penile pain.
  • Intralesional injections: Direct plaque injections with Collagenase or Verapamil soften localized scar tissue.
  • Penile plication: Surgical straightening by shortening the unaffected side for stable curvature cases.
  • Complex reconstruction: Plaque excision combined with grafting restores shape in advanced disease stages.

Bookimed Expert Insight: While Meliva Kardiolita Hospital and the Medical Diagnostic and Treatment Center are the primary hubs, patient volume data suggests a high focus on diagnostics. Meliva Kardiolita Hospital serves nearly 300,000 patients annually and maintains JCI accreditation, making it a reliable choice for international patients seeking high-standard surgical infrastructure in the Baltic region.

Patient Consensus: Patients note that early intervention is vital but emphasize that any treatment involves trade-offs between length and sensation. Seeking specialists with specific reconstructive experience is often preferred over consulting general urologists for this condition.

Which clinics in Lithuania are recognized for Peyronie's disease care?

Lithuania offers recognized care for Peyronie's disease through specialized centers in Vilnius and Klaipeda. Facilities like Meliva Kardiolita Hospital and Hila provide diagnostic Doppler ultrasound. Treatment options include advanced shockwave therapy and corrective surgery. JCI-accredited clinics ensure international quality standards for urological procedures.

  • Diagnostic precision: Clinics use penile Doppler ultrasound to assess plaque and curvature.
  • Non-surgical options: InnMed utilizes MoreNova shockwave technology for non-invasive plaque reduction.
  • Surgical correction: Specialists perform plication and grafting for curvature over 30 degrees.
  • Specialized expertise: UroKlinika provides dedicated consultations combining urology and clinical sexology.

Bookimed Expert Insight: While many patients seek basic diagnostics at larger hospitals, smaller specialized clinics like InnMed often house specific technology like the MoreNova system. Meliva Kardiolita Hospital manages a massive volume of 298,000 patients annually. This high throughput across 33 departments allows them to maintain specialized urology teams focused on complex male reconstructive surgery.

Patient Consensus: Patients note that initial evaluations are fast. Many suggest seeking a urologist-sexologist for a more comprehensive plan that includes both physical and emotional recovery.

What safety and quality indicators should I verify before booking treatment?

Verify Joint Commission International (JCI) accreditation and specific surgeon experience in penile curvature correction. Patients should confirm high procedure volumes to ensure safety. Check if the clinic manages over 40,000 treatments annually. This indicates robust infrastructure for managing complex urological cases and post-operative recovery.

  • Facility accreditation: Confirm JCI or Temos International Healthcare Accreditation for high safety standards.
  • Surgeon expertise: Ensure the urologist performs penile procedures regularly, staying within specialized departments.
  • Patient volume: Look for clinics like Kardiolita managing over 290,000 patients annually.
  • Clinical infrastructure: Select facilities with at least 30 departments to ensure multidisciplinary support.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Quality in Lithuania correlates strongly with international patient ratios. At the Medical Diagnostic and Treatment Center, 1 in 10 patients arrives from abroad. This high international volume suggests the facility maintains rigorous protocols to meet strict European and UK medical expectations.

Patient Consensus: Patients note it is important to verify the specialist has specific experience with Peyronie-related cases. They suggest asking about the risk of erectile dysfunction before agreeing to any surgical intervention.

Is Peyronie's disease completely curable?

Peyronie's disease is rarely completely curable if a total return to the pre-disease state is expected. Treatment aims for a functionally straight penis suitable for intercourse. Specialists in Lithuania use surgery and therapy to achieve success rates between 75% and 96% for curvature correction.

  • Success criteria: Achieving a curvature under 30 degrees is considered a functional cure.
  • Surgical outcomes: Procedures effectively straighten the penis but may cause 1 to 2cm shortening.
  • Non-surgical options: Collagenase injections may reduce curvature by 32% to 40% in clinical cases.
  • Spontaneous resolution: Natural recovery occurs in only 10% to 15% of mild, early-stage cases.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Data suggests choosing clinics with high diagnostic capacity like the Medical Diagnostic and Treatment Center in Vilnius. Their focus on accurate diagnostics is vital for Peyronie's because surgery is only effective once the disease stabilizes. Waiting for the 6-month stable chronic phase ensures the correction lasts without new plaque forming. Meliva Kardiolita Hospital also manages massive patient volumes, which usually correlates with higher surgical proficiency in complex urological corrections.

Patient Consensus: Patients emphasize focusing on sexual function rather than physical perfection to avoid disappointment. Many regret delaying traction therapy and suggest tracking progress with photos to catch changes early.

How long should I plan for recovery in Lithuania after surgery?

For Peyronie's disease surgery in Lithuania, plan for a 7 to 14 day stay. This timeframe allows surgeons to monitor initial swelling and wound healing. Long-haul travel should be delayed for at least 3 weeks. This wait reduces the risk of blood clots and travel complications.

  • Hospital stay: Expect 1 to 2 nights in the clinic for immediate postoperative monitoring.
  • Initial recovery: Plan for 7 to 10 days of local rest to manage pain.
  • Travel clearance: Surgeons typically require 14 days before approving short flights for international patients.
  • Physical activity: Avoid heavy lifting for 6 weeks and sexual activity for 2 weeks.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Statistics show Meliva Kardiolita Hospital alone treats 298,000 patients annually. High-volume centers in Vilnius offer more predictable recovery paths. Patients often save by booking long-term apartments for approximately €30 per night. This allows for a 4-week stay to ensure full stabilization before flying home.

Patient Consensus: Patients emphasize staying at least 3 weeks to monitor for bruising or swelling. Many note that rushing back early leads to discomfort during travel and potential hematoma concerns.

Can traction devices or vacuum pumps be used instead of surgery in Lithuania?

Mechanical therapies like traction devices and vacuum pumps are effective non-surgical alternatives in Lithuania for early-stage Peyronie's disease. These conservative methods help remodel plaque and restore penile length during the acute phase. Specialized clinics in Vilnius provide these options to stabilize curvature and potentially avoid invasive surgery.

  • Penile traction: Uses gradual tension to reduce curvature by 10 to 30 degrees consistently.
  • Vacuum devices: Employs negative pressure to improve blood flow and stabilize tissue remodeling.
  • Acute phase: Best results occur when plaque is still forming before stabilization.
  • Daily commitment: Patients typically require 30 to 90 minutes of daily use for results.

Bookimed Expert Insight: While major centers like Meliva Kardiolita Hospital and the Medical Diagnostic and Treatment Center serve over 300,000 patients combined annually, non-surgical success depends heavily on early intervention. Data suggests that starting mechanical therapy during the initial inflammatory phase significantly increases the chance of avoiding a $5,000+ plication surgery later. Patients should prioritize clinics with integrated rehabilitation departments for guided device training.

Patient Consensus: Patients note that staying motivated is the hardest part. They highly recommend tracking progress with monthly photos and pairing traction with medical therapy for the best straightening results.
