  • Rest and prepare for your initial consultation and evaluation the following day. Avoid strenuous activities and maintain a light diet.
Day 2: Initial Consultation and Evaluation
  • You need to attend your scheduled appointment at the clinic. The first step involves a comprehensive evaluation, including a complete diagnostic with x-rays and photographs. This is crucial for planning your dental implant procedure.
  • The clinic may perform a CT scan to plan the implant placement accurately. Brands like Nobel BioCare, Straumann, or Dio Navi may be discussed based on your specific needs.
  • Discuss your treatment plan, including the type of implants recommended, such as Dentix, Megagen, or Dio Navi UV, and the expected timeline for your procedure.
  • Address any questions or concerns with the dental team. Confirm any additional procedures like bone grafting or sinus lifts if required.
  • Follow any pre-operative instructions provided by the clinic, such as fasting or medication adjustments.
Day 3: Surgical Procedure
  • You will undergo the surgical procedure for dental implant placement. This may include extractions, bone grafting, and the placement of dental implants such as Straumann Neodent or Dio Navi.
  • The procedure will typically be performed under local anesthesia or IV sedation, depending on what has been discussed and agreed upon with your dentist.
  • Post-surgery, you will receive prescriptions for antibiotics and pain management. Ensure you understand the post-operative care instructions, including dietary restrictions and oral hygiene practices.
  • Arrange for a follow-up appointment for a post-operative evaluation, usually scheduled for the next day.
Day 4: Post-Operative Evaluation

  • Discuss any immediate post-operative concerns with your dentist, such as swelling or discomfort. Ensure you are following the recommended care routine.
  • Plan your next appointment, typically in 3 to 6 months, for the placement of the final crowns or abutments, depending on the healing process.
  • Rest and continue to follow post-operative care instructions. Focus on soft foods and maintaining oral hygiene as advised.
Day 5: Rest and Recovery

  • Maintain communication with the clinic if you experience any unusual symptoms or have concerns about your recovery process.
Day 6: Departure and Return Home
  • You need to check out of your accommodation and prepare for your return journey home. Ensure you have all post-operative care instructions and contact information for the clinic in case of any follow-up questions.

I cannot recommend Jean more highly
RE: bridge and implants My dental experience for years in the United States just cannot compare. Genna, Alma, Roberto & Alec together form such an effective and responsive team. I felt that I was an excellent hands the entire time, I felt nurtured. These good people were willing to take a lot of time with me. they were willing to answer all of my questions. Even when we were in process, they were willing to take time to make sure that I would be satisfied with our decisions. I spent a fraction of the money that I would’ve spent all my expenses. They are complete and total professionals with modern technology and a true care for their patients. I cannot recommend Jean more highly.
Everything. I’ll add here that the office is a three minute walk from the hotel.
Don’t trust or rely on Hilton’s shuttle service.

We are very satisfied with the quality of work, the professionalism of Dr
This time we contacted the dental center of Mexico Dentavida to Dr. Alberto Guvera. We are very satisfied with the quality of work, the professionalism of Dr. Alberto. But in the case of my husband, a medical mistake was made in Turkish dentistry when installing crowns, which we will try to solve in the near future. Then we will share the results.
About Bookimed service
Thanks to the Bookimed consultants for their excellent work in providing timely assistance in finding the right clinic in any region of the world. In our case, our family is collaborating for the second time on the problem of dental treatment, the installation of zirconium crowns (autumn 2022, February 2023). I like the individual approach, quick response and understanding of the situation. They are selected qualitatively. not only clinics, but also doctors.

When considering Dental Implant, it’s important to understand the different techniques and which is best suited for you. Here’s a concise comparison of popular options:

It involves placing a titanium post in the jawbone to support a crown, restoring a missing tooth.

Pros: Provides a natural look and feel, with a success rate of up to 98%. Offers a permanent solution compared to removable dentures, enhancing comfort and function.
Cons: Requires sufficient bone density, which may necessitate bone grafting. Longer treatment time compared to other options like All-on-4 implants.

Dental Implant with Abutment

Tooth implant involves placing a titanium post into the jawbone, serving as a root for a dental prosthesis like a crown.

Pros: High success rate of 95% due to osseointegration. Provides a natural look and feel, unlike removable dentures.
Cons: Requires adequate bone density and health. Surgical procedure may lead to discomfort and swelling for a few days.

Types of Affordable Dental Implants in Mexico

By placement

  • Endosteal implants. Placed directly into the jawbone, the most common dental implant option.
  • Subperiosteal implants. Sit on top of the jawbone under the gum, used for patients with bone loss who can’t undergo bone grafting.
  • Zygomatic implants. Anchored in the cheekbone (zygoma) instead of the jaw. Ideal for patients with major upper jaw bone loss.

By scope

  • Single-tooth dental implants. Replace a single missing tooth with a titanium post and a dental crown.
  • All-on-2 implants. Uses 2 implants per arch to hold removable overdentures.
  • All-on-4/6 implants. Full-mouth dental implants in Mexico restore the whole arch of teeth using 4 or 6 implants per jaw.

Dental Implants vs. Other Tooth Replacement Options

Parameter Mexico implants Dental bridges Removable dentures
Purpose Replace missing teeth permanently. Dental bridges fill a gap between teeth by anchoring a crown to adjacent healthy teeth. Removable dentures replace multiple or all teeth with a removable prosthesis.
Durability 25+ years or a lifetime with proper care. 5–10 years on average. 3–8 years before needing relining or replacement.
Aesthetics Look and feel like natural teeth. Custom-colored and shaped. May not match the gum contour exactly. May look bulky or artificial, especially over time.
Bone loss prevention Yes, by stimulating the jawbone like a natural tooth root. No. No.

Who's a Good Candidate for Dental Implants in Mexico?

You may be a good candidate for dental implants if:

✔️ You're missing one or more teeth.

✔️ You have dentures that don't fit well and cause discomfort.

✔️ You want to keep your jawbone healthy and avoid bone loss after tooth loss.

✔️ You have healthy gums.

✔️ You’re in overall good health and don't have uncontrolled medical conditions (e.g., diabetes).

✔️ You have sufficient jawbone or are open to bone grafting.

✔️ You're not a smoker or willing to quit.

How Long Does It Take to Get Dental Implants in Mexico?

The answer depends on your specific situation, type of implant, and additional procedures you might need.

  • Two-trip process. Most implant procedures require two visits 3–6 months apart. The first is to place the implant, and the second is to install a permanent crown.
  • Three-trip process. If you need additional dental work, your journey could include one more stage for tooth extraction and bone grafting.
  • Same-day implants. Same-day dental implants in Mexico allow you to get both the implant and crown in one visit and take around 2 to 3 hours. However, they involve a higher risk of failure and more swelling.

Dental Implant Procedure in Mexico

Preparation

  • Undergo X-rays or 3D scans to determine whether you need any additional procedures (like bone grafts or sinus lifts).

  • Visit a consultation with your dentist to discuss your health, medical history, and dental treatment plan.

  • Quit smoking at least 2 weeks before surgery.

Procedure Steps

Visit 1: Implant placement (~ 3 days)

  • Local anesthesia numbs the area. Alternatively, if you’re anxious, IV sedation can put you in a deeply relaxed state.
  • The dentist will place the implant post into your jawbone under local anesthesia.
  • The implant dentist will place a temporary tooth for the healing period.

Rest & healing phase

Over the next 3-6 months, the implant will fuse with your bone in a process called osseointegration.

Visit 2: Final crown placement (~ 5-6 days)

  • After you heal, the dentist will place the abutment (the connector between the implant and crown).
  • The custom crown will complete your new smile.

Recovery After Full Dental Implants in Mexico

Time

What to expect

Week 1

  • Initial healing.
  • Swelling, discomfort, and some bruising (pain meds can help).
  • You can fly or ride home 1 to 3 days after getting a dental implant in Mexico (but it’s best to wait until you feel well).

3–6 months

  • The implant integrates with your jawbone.

Recovery guidelines

✔️ Get plenty of rest to help your body heal faster.

✔️ Keep your head elevated while sleeping for the first few nights to reduce swelling.

✔️ Don’t chew on the implant side.

✔️ Stick to softer foods like soups, smoothies, and yogurt.

✔️ Maintain good oral hygiene, brush your teeth gently, and follow any special care instructions from your dentist.

✔️ Avoid intense physical activities like lifting heavy weights or high-impact sports for at least 1–2 weeks after the surgery.

Dental Implant Risks & Complications

Dental implants are safe for healthy patients who choose an experienced, certified professional. In fact, 95% of implants successfully integrate into the bone in non-smoking people. However, like any surgery, dental implant procedure comes with some risks:

  • infection;
  • nerve or tissue damage;
  • implant failure;
  • bone loss, leading to implant instability;
  • sinus damage.

Doctors in Mexico handle these risks by:

✔️ thoroughly evaluating your bone density and health before the procedure;

✔️ providing detailed aftercare instructions and follow-up consultations (both in-person and remote);

✔️ offering warranties for up to 25 years

Bookimed works only with accredited clinics and trusted specialists in cosmetic dentistry. Medical coordinators can help you find the best dentist in Mexico for implants and organize your trip with 24/7 support.
