The anesthesiologist never spoke to me personally although I had concerns about general anesthesia. I was feeling sick and sleepy after surgery, so I was not able to ask for cold packs to minimize swelling and bruising till hours later. I think the nursing staff should have initiated it, or at least offered the cold packs. I had significant swelling and bruising for several days. I looked frightening the first week, so much so that I couldn't use 'face recognition' app. I still don't like 'the new look' of my face. Feel like it has been pulled too tight. And the extra folds of the eyelids which was the reason I wanted corrective surgery, are still present and not improved.
About Bookimed service
Mixed experience. Overall good service, but surgical outcome has been less favorable than I was hoping for (2 months later).

I enjoyed my experience, due to staff being friendly and understanding
I enjoyed my experience, due to staff being friendly and understanding . I felt very comfortable and understood. I would definitely recommend this clinic to anyone. I got lipo and a BBL done, so as you can imagine that was quite scary. But the medical team are very calm and reassuring.

My only issue was the availability of staff after my surgery. I was placed in a room and was only checked on once during my 3 hours recovery. I had to call a nurse to ask if I could discharged.I was fortunate that my husband was with me.

FAQ about treatment in Thailand

These FAQs come from real patients seeking medical assistance through Bookimed. Answers are given by experienced medical coordinators and trusted clinic representatives.

Which are the best clinics for eyelid surgery in Bangkok?

Top clinics for eyelid surgery in Bangkok include Asia Cosmetic Hospital, ID Clinic Bangkok, and Wansiri Hospital. These facilities offer techniques like the Japanese double-eyelid method. Their surgeons include Dr. Phatcharasak Kraisornphongsakul, who has performed over 20,000 procedures.

  • Asia Cosmetic Hospital: JCI-accredited facility with 0% complication rates for international cosmetic patients.
  • ID Clinic Bangkok: High-volume center performing over 4,000 annual procedures for global patients.
  • Wansiri Hospital: Hospital with clean-room standard operating theaters and 99% aesthetic success rates.
  • BKFL Clinic: Specializes in facial plastic surgery with IBCFPRS-certified surgeon leadership.

Bookimed Expert Insight: While blepharoplasty is widely offered, look for clinics with specific eyelid sub-specialties. For example, Dr. Chen Surgery Hospital serves over 10,000 patients annually. It offers niche Master Class techniques like Singaporean-style advanced blepharoplasty. Booking these specialized packages often leads to more precise results than general cosmetic centers.

Patient Consensus: Patients emphasize choosing a specific surgeon's track record over a clinic brand. They advise comparing several consultations. This helps find the right balance between cosmetic aesthetics and medical eye care.

Are there surgeons in Bangkok who specialize in Asian eyelid techniques?

Many board-certified surgeons in Bangkok specialize in Asian eyelid techniques. They focus on creating natural double eyelid creases and performing epicanthoplasty. Top specialists like Dr. Chen Chaicharncheep and Dr. Narongdej Jiarapeepan use Korean and Japanese methods. These techniques address specific Asian eyelid anatomy and fat distribution.

  • Specialized techniques: Clinics offer Japanese double-eyelid surgery, suture-based methods, and epicanthoplasty.
  • Surgeon expertise: Doctors like Dr. Rushapol Sdawat hold eyelid workshop certifications from Singapore.
  • Hospital standards: Procedures take place in JCI-accredited facilities or hospitals that follow Royal College of Surgeons standards.
  • Anesthesia: Doctors perform most double eyelid procedures under local anesthesia.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Many people search for famous hospital brands. However, our data shows a high concentration of eyelid specialists at boutique surgical centers like Wansiri or DGB Clinic. These doctors, such as Dr. Chatpong Sastarasadhit, often have focused experience from South Korea. This specialization usually offers more personalized crease design. General plastic surgery departments in larger multidisciplinary hospitals may not offer the same.

Patient Consensus: Patients emphasize that individual surgeon skill matters more than the clinic brand. Contributors recommend comparing several before-and-after portfolios. This helps make sure the surgeon’s aesthetic matches the natural look you want.

How long do I need to stay in Bangkok after blepharoplasty?

Plan a stay in Bangkok for 10 to 14 days after blepharoplasty. This window covers the initial healing phase. It also makes sure you are there for stitch removal around day 10. Staying longer reduces the risk of swelling from cabin pressure during long-haul flights.

  • Stitch removal: Surgeons typically remove non-dissolvable sutures around day 10 post-surgery.
  • Initial recovery: Bruising and swelling peak within 3 days and improve after 1 week.
  • Technique impact: Upper blepharoplasty usually heals faster than complex lower or combined eyelid procedures.
  • Travel safety: Long-haul flights require a longer buffer to manage potential eye dryness and clotting.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Many clinics, like DGB Clinic or Lelux Hospital, offer out-patient procedures. But don't mistake a fast surgery for a fast departure. Data shows clinics often perform 1,000+ annual procedures, yet patient satisfaction hinges on the 10-day follow-up. For instance, Dr. Phatcharasak Kraisornphongsakul has performed over 20,000 surgeries. He emphasizes that professional stitch removal is vital to reduce visible scarring.

Patient Consensus: Patients often report minimal pain. However, they note that swelling can be intense enough to interfere with facial recognition apps. Most recommend staying until stitches are removed. That way, you feel confident and safe before flying home.

Is it safe to have eyelid surgery in Bangkok?

Eyelid surgery in Bangkok is safe with board-certified surgeons and JCI-accredited facilities. JCI means Joint Commission International. Clinics maintain high safety standards through HEPA air filtration. Surgeons often have international certifications from US or Korean boards.

  • Surgeon credentials: Surgeons often hold certification from the International Board of Facial Plastic Surgery.
  • Safety records: Specialized clinics like Asia Cosmetic Hospital report a 0% post-surgery complication rate.
  • Facility standards: Top hospitals use clean room theaters and touchless automation to control infection.
  • Typical costs: Procedure prices in Bangkok range from $1,300 to $3,800.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Data shows a clear trend: Bangkok surgeons often perform 15,000 to 20,000 procedures. Examples include the surgeons at Asia Cosmetic Hospital and Somchai Clinic. This massive volume builds deep expertise that significantly lowers surgical risk compared to lower-volume centers.

Patient Consensus: Patients emphasize choosing full-scale hospitals for better emergency equipment. A reliable recovery requires icing the eyes for the first week. It also requires waiting until day 10 for stitch removal.

Which are the top clinics for blepharoplasty in Bangkok?

Top clinics for blepharoplasty in Bangkok include ID Clinic Bangkok, Asia Cosmetic Hospital, and Wansiri Hospital. These facilities provide JCI-accredited care or Royal College of Surgeons Thailand [RCST] certification. Surgeons here specialize in Japanese double-eyelid surgery and scarless transconjunctival techniques for natural results.

  • Clinic credentials: Asia Cosmetic Hospital holds JCI and ISO certifications for 0% complication rates.
  • Surgeon experience: Dr. Phatcharasak Kraisornphongsakul at ID Clinic has performed over 20,000 eyelid procedures.
  • Advanced technology: Wansiri Hospital uses Clean Room standards and HEPA air filtration for safety.
  • Patient volume: DGB Clinic serves over 1,000 international plastic surgery patients from Western countries annually.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Patients often search for the lowest price. However, the real value in Bangkok lies in hospital-based surgical centers, not smaller boutique clinics. Data shows that larger facilities like Somchai Clinic handle over 10,000 patients annually. They also maintain higher medical standards. Choosing a surgeon like Dr. Palapong Chayangsu, who is IBCFPRS-certified, means you get facial plastic expertise. General cosmetic clinics often lack this expertise.

Patient Consensus: Patients emphasize choosing eye-specialist hospitals over beauty clinics to make sure the surgeon is board-certified. Patients highlight that hospital-based care provides better communication and smoother aftercare for international visitors.

What is included in Bangkok blepharoplasty packages?

Bangkok blepharoplasty packages primarily include surgeon fees, local anesthesia, and pre-surgery consultations. Most packages cover follow-up visits and medications, though inclusions vary by clinic tier. Patients can select a specialized boutique surgery like the Japanese Double-Eyelid technique. Or they can opt for full upper and lower eyelid correction.

  • Core inclusions: Packages typically cover surgeon fees, local anesthesia, and essential post-operative medications.
  • Diagnostic services: Digital or in-person consultations are bundled to assess surgical goals and health.
  • Hospital facilities: Some packages at facilities like Bangkok Facelift include a 1-day hospital stay.
  • Logistic support: Transfer services to the clinic are sometimes included, like at DGB Clinic.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Premium packages in Bangkok often include clinical stays. On the other hand, boutique clinics specialize in outpatient techniques like the Japanese Double-Eyelid method. These procedures require no hospital stay. They are ideal for patients who prefer to recover in a hotel. Significant savings are possible because full upper and lower eyelid packages often cost around $3,000. That's still about 64% less than the US average of $5,500.

Patient Consensus: Patients often highlight the seamless coordination of post-operative care. They also note the professionalism of board-certified surgeons in Bangkok. Travelers appreciate the detailed follow-up visits. They are pleasantly surprised when clinics assist with local logistics.

What is the recovery time for blepharoplasty in Bangkok?

Recovery from blepharoplasty in Bangkok typically takes 10 to 14 days for initial healing. Most patients return to social activities within 2 weeks. Stitches are usually removed on day 10. The final look keeps improving, and incisions fade over 3 to 6 months.

  • Stitch removal: Surgeons typically remove non-dissolvable sutures around day 10 post-op.
  • Initial downtime: Significant swelling and bruising usually peak during the first 7 days.
  • Social readiness: Most patients feel ready to go out in public within 10 to 14 days after surgery.
  • Activity limits: Avoid strenuous exercise and heavy lifting for at least 3 weeks.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Data from clinics like Asia Cosmetic Hospital and Wansiri Hospital shows that recovery varies by technique. For instance, the Japanese double-eyelid method often has faster downtime. Recovery is quicker than with combined upper and lower procedures. International patients should book at least 10 days in Bangkok. This makes sure a professional can remove the stitches before they fly.

Patient Consensus: Patients often find the visual recovery harder than the physical pain. They recommend keeping sunglasses and cold packs ready. Bruising can be intense during the first week.

Will the scars from blepharoplasty in Bangkok be visible?

Blepharoplasty scars in Bangkok typically become virtually invisible once fully healed. Surgeons use fine-suturing techniques to place incisions within natural skin folds or inside the eyelid. While initial redness persists for several weeks, scars usually fade into faint, thin lines within 3 to 12 months.

  • Incision placement: Upper eyelid scars stay hidden inside the natural crease and disappear when the eyes open.
  • Transconjunctival approach: Correcting the lower eyelid from inside the eyelid leaves no external scarring.
  • Subciliary technique: External lower incisions sit 1–2 mm below lashes, blending into natural skin lines.
  • Maturation timeline: Scars improve noticeably by 6 months and reach full maturity at 1 year.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Bangkok clinics like Asia Cosmetic Hospital and Wansiri Hospital report nearly zero complication rates. They use HEPA air filtration and clean-room technologies. Dr. Phatcharasak Kraisornphongsakul, a high-volume specialist, has performed over 20,000 procedures. He emphasizes that surgeon experience is the primary factor for precise incision alignment.

Patient Consensus: Patients mention that early redness can look like eyeliner, but it settles quickly. Most report that scars are barely detectable after 6 months. But the first few weeks of swelling require patience.
