How Much Does Lower Eyelid Blepharoplasty Cost in Turkey?

Lower Eyelid Blepharoplasty in Turkey typically costs from $2,600 to $4,100. Final prices depend on the chosen surgical technique, the surgeon's experience level, and the clinic's location. In the US, patients pay around $5,300 on average for this procedure. Turkey offers savings of approximately 38%. Most packages include the surgeon's fee, anesthesia, preoperative tests, and postoperative follow-up care.

  • City price variations: Packages in Istanbul may cost 15-20% more than in Antalya or Izmir.
  • Advanced techniques: Transconjunctival or laser-assisted methods typically carry a premium over traditional incisional approaches.

  • Clinic tier: Premium facilities with international JCI or ISAPS accreditation often charge higher base rates.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Paying for a high-tier package in Istanbul often provides superior value through specialized expertise. For instance, Quartz Hospital offers an EBOPRAS-certified surgeon and includes seven nights in a 4-star hotel for approximately $2,900. My incisions seperated and bleeding. No adequate assistance offered.and no one turned up. They treated me like I was a nuisance and warned me never to come to the clinic. I was abused verbally by the surgeon. Dr Aykut is arrogant, obnoxious and rude. My nose is hideous, and far worse than before. My nostrils are now to the front of my nose and my columella is massive, and so is my tip. It was the biggest mistake I have ever made. Even when I was bleeding on and off, the surgeon shouted at me and told me not to come to the clinic. The co-ordinator is so bad at communication. I do not recommend this clinic and I am so distressed about my nose. I feel that he butchered my nose. 1st 2 photos after surgery, 3rd photo before surgery at the clinic. Hideous. My nose wasn’t bed before but now it has been butchered with a hanging middle columella and massive nostrils with a bulbous tip. No amount of swelling will ever hide the fact that this is a botched result.
I am too distressed to even consider anything that I liked. It was a horror story
Dr Aykut was awful. His surgery results and his manner was dismissive, rude and arrogant. The excessive bruising was as a result of the surgeons roughness. No photos taken to evidence results. No digital simulation for nose pre-op as promised. My under eyes were excluded from the process, yet No discount offered. The disregard for their patients is shocking.
About Bookimed service
Bookimed failed to assist me in getting the surgeon to attend to me when my liplift seperated. They were not impartial and I felt ganged-up against. No effort or oversight was given to my my medical emergency and I was given the impression that the surgeon would be available for aftercare during my stay in Turkey

FAQ about Lower Eyelid Blepharoplasty in Turkey

These FAQs come from real patients seeking medical assistance through Bookimed. Answers are given by experienced medical coordinators and trusted clinic representatives.

Is lower eyelid blepharoplasty safe, and what are the main risks I should be aware of?

Lower eyelid blepharoplasty is a safe, highly effective procedure when performed by board-certified specialists. Most patients experience temporary swelling or bruising for 14 days. Primary risks include eyelid malposition, such as ectropion or retraction, which may occur if tissue removal is too aggressive during surgery.

  • Eyelid malposition: Ectropion or retraction causes the lower lid to sag or pull downward.
  • Dry eye syndrome: Post-operative grittiness or dryness may persist if pre-existing conditions are present.
  • Hollowing: Excessive fat removal can lead to a sunken appearance, requiring fat grafting.
  • Technique choice: Transconjunctival incisions inside the lid minimize visible scarring and retraction risks.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Turkish specialists often favor conservative techniques to prevent the sunken look caused by over-resection. Professors like Ahmet Satici at Private Bagcilar Safak Hospital have performed over 20,000 procedures. This high volume allows surgeons to master radiofrequency-assisted methods that reduce surgical trauma compared to traditional cutting.

Patient Consensus: Many patients emphasize that minor asymmetries during the first 3 months are normal parts of healing. They strongly recommend aggressive dry eye management and pre-operative screenings to ensure a comfortable recovery.

What credentials and training should I look for when choosing a surgeon for lower blepharoplasty in Turkey?

When selecting a surgeon for lower blepharoplasty in Turkey, prioritize board certification from the Turkish Society of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgeons (TPRECD) and the European Board of Plastic Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery (EBOPRAS). Ensure the specialist has high-volume experience, typically 1,000+ surgeries, within JCI-accredited hospitals.

  • Board certifications: Verify TPRECD national certification and international EBOPRAS or ISAPS active memberships.
  • Specialized training: Seek surgeons with fellowships at institutions like Mayo Clinic or University of Zurich.
  • Clinical environment: Confirm the facility holds Joint Commission International (JCI) or ISO safety accreditations.
  • Surgical volume: Choose experts like Professor Ahmet Satici who have performed over 20,000 procedures.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Academic rank often signals superior safety in Turkey. Our data shows that Professors and Associate Professors at clinics like Memorial Şişli or Hisar Intercontinental frequently lead international research. These surgeons often provide comprehensive pre-op consultations with ophthalmologists, which is a critical safety step for delicate eyelid surgery.

Patient Consensus: Patients emphasize looking for surgeons who personally explain the difference between internal and external incisions. Reviews suggest that top-rated teams provide 24-hour nursing support and coordinate recovery with precision at short notice.

What surgical technique is most commonly used for lower eyelid blepharoplasty in Turkey, and how is it customized?

Turkish surgeons most commonly use the transconjunctival approach for lower eyelid blepharoplasty to provide scarless results. This technique places incisions inside the eyelid to remove or reposition fat. Surgeons customize procedures using fat transposition, sub-orbicularis oculi fat (SOOF) lifts, or laser resurfacing for optimal facial harmony.

  • Transconjunctival method: Accesses fat pads through internal incisions, leaving no visible external scarring.
  • Transcutaneous approach: Utilized for patients with significant skin laxity via a subciliary incision.
  • Fat repositioning: Moves fat into tear troughs to prevent hollowing and ensure smooth transitions.
  • Synergistic treatments: Combines surgery with CO2 lasers or radiofrequency to tighten skin effectively.

Bookimed Expert Insight: High-volume Turkish centers often shift from simple fat removal to advanced nanofat grafting or SOOF lifts. Professor Ahmet Satici at Private Bagcilar Safak Hospital has performed over 20,000 procedures, reflecting a trend toward muscle-preserving techniques. Choosing a professor-led clinic often ensures more conservative fat management, preventing the hollowed-out look common in budget-tier surgeries.

Patient Consensus: Many patients recommend pairing the scarless transconjunctival approach with Morpheus8 or plasma treatments. They report returning to work within 5 days while emphasizing the importance of reviewing 200+ case photos to ensure natural-looking volume restoration.

How long is the recovery, and what does the typical 7–10 day itinerary look like in Turkey?

Lower eyelid blepharoplasty in Turkey typically requires a 7 to 10 day stay for safe recovery and post-operative monitoring. Most patients experience peak swelling between days 2 and 4, with 80% resolving by day 7, allowing for a comfortable flight home after a final check-up.

  • Arrival and surgery: Day 1 involves pre-op consultations and the 2–3 hour procedure under local anesthesia.
  • Initial recovery: Days 2–4 focus on hotel rest while using cold compresses to manage swelling.
  • Stitch removal: Surgeons typically remove non-dissolvable sutures and perform a clinical check on day 5.
  • Functional recovery: Days 6–10 allow for light activities in Istanbul before the final medical clearance.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Requesting the transconjunctival technique can significantly shorten your visible recovery. Data shows this scarless approach allows many patients to feel functional within 5 to 7 days. This is faster than traditional incisional methods which often require 10 to 14 days for bruising to fade.

Patient Consensus: Patients emphasize keeping the head elevated while sleeping during the first week to speed up fluid resolution. Many recommend packing high-quality SPF 50 sunglasses to protect sensitive incisions from the Turkish sun during outdoor strolls.

Who is an ideal candidate versus who should postpone or avoid lower eyelid blepharoplasty?

Ideal candidates for lower eyelid blepharoplasty are healthy adults with prominent under-eye bags or sagging skin who maintain realistic goals. Optimal results occur in non-smokers with good skin elasticity. Surgeons in Turkey often use fat repositioning techniques to correct hollow tear troughs without causing a sunken appearance.

  • Aesthetic indicators: Persistent under-eye fat pads or loose skin unresponsive to non-invasive dermal fillers.
  • Physical health: No active infections, uncontrolled diabetes, or heart disease that might impair healing.
  • Eye condition: Absence of severe dry eye, glaucoma, or active thyroid-related eye diseases.
  • Lifestyle factors: Commitment to stop smoking and pause blood-thinning medications for several weeks.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Data shows that choosing an ophthalmologist-trained surgeon, like Ahmet Satici at Safak Hospital, provides an extra safety layer. Specialist eye hospitals often include comprehensive pre-operative ophthalmology consultations. This is critical for screening `hidden` dry eye issues that standard plastic surgery clinics might overlook.

Patient Consensus: Many patients recommend stabilizing your weight for at least 6 months before surgery. They also suggest trying reversible fillers first to ensure you truly want a permanent surgical change.

What is usually included in an all-inclusive blepharoplasty package in Turkey?

All-inclusive blepharoplasty packages in Turkey typically cover the surgical procedure, local or general anesthesia, and essential medical tests. Most bundles include 3 to 7 nights in a 4-star or 5-star hotel, VIP airport-to-hotel transfers, and dedicated language assistance for a seamless medical travel experience.

  • Medical services: Covers surgeon fees, clinical evaluations, and necessary preoperative blood tests.
  • Post-operative care: Includes follow-up examinations, basic medications, painkillers, and specialized eye drops.
  • Luxury logistics: Provides private VIP transportation between the airport, hotel, and medical facility.
  • Accommodation: Standard packages usually bundle 5 to 7 nights in premium hotels.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Data shows a significant value gap between basic and premium packages regarding recovery support. While some clinics provide only the surgery, centers like Quartz Hospital include 24-hour nursing services. This is vital for blepharoplasty patients who often struggle with vision and mobility during the first 24 hours.

Patient Consensus: Patients emphasize booking at least 7 nights to manage initial swelling. Many suggest requesting a written list of included medications to avoid small out-of-pocket costs for extra eye drops.
