What is preoperative preparation?
Preparation starts from the complete body examination that includes:
- blood and urine tests
- electrocardiography (ECG)

- abdominal ultrasound
- blood test for viral infections (AIDS, hepatitis, syphilis, etc.)
- coagulogram (blood clotting test)
- consultations with a nutritionist and anesthetist.

How long is the rehabilitation period after the operation?
The recovery period takes 3-4 weeks. During the first week after the procedure, the patient should stay at home and not work.

In 3-4 weeks, the patient can come back to the usual lifestyle. The gastric bandage does not affect the digestion, so the patient will not need to take additional mineral and vitamin supplements.

Like any other operation, gastric banding surgery in Thailand involves certain risks. The most common complications after the operation are:

- inflammation
- scarring
- numbness of the skin and other tissues
