  • Procedures performed in major cities like Cancun or Mexico City can cost up to 30% more due to medical tourism demand.
  • Number of body areas treated can increase the price by 20%–40% for each additional zone.

How much does 360 liposuction cost in Mexico?

360 liposuction in Mexico typically costs between $2,500 and $5,000. This covers multiple areas like the abdomen, waist, and back. Prices can vary depending on your BMI, the clinic's location, and whether extras like compression garments or hotel stay are included. Compared to U.S. prices that range from $6,000 to $10,000, Mexico offers big savings, often over 60% less.

How expensive is liposuction in Mexico?

Liposuction in Mexico is much more affordable than in the U.S. Prices range from $1,800 to $4,500 for common procedures. Full-body lipo or 360 lipo may cost more, while small areas like chin or arms are cheaper. Some packages include hotel stays, airport transfers, and post-op checkups. Compared to the U.S., where it can cost over $7,000, Mexico offers great value.

How much is Lipo 360 in Mexico?

How much fat can be removed in Mexico?

Most clinics in Mexico follow the international standard for fat removal, which is up to 5 liters (about 11 pounds) per session. For high BMI patients, some surgeons may do staged procedures or extended liposuction. The amount removed depends on your body, safety limits, and doctor recommendations. Removing more can increase risks and costs.

I like how fast and easy it was from the start. The surgical facility was small but worked fine. I did not like the post op care. The night nurse was terrible. Her patients were not a priority. Post op care was not made clear. I would have preferred more detailed instructions on after care. I was left guessing about bandages, sprays, medications and scar treatment. Doctor repaired a hernia, of which I was grateful, but would have preferred to have price list in case this occurred so I could have been prepared financially. I felt like price was just made up. So I don't know if I was overcharged. I liked Mexicali as it was a nice quiet clean town. All in all experience was not bad and the price was affordable.

Our Liposuction Techniques: What Suits You Best?

When considering Liposuction, it’s important to understand the different techniques and which is best suited for you. Here’s a concise comparison of popular options:

Tumescent Liposuction

Involves injecting a solution to firm the fat, making it easier to remove with less pain, bleeding, and quicker recovery.

Pros: Local anesthesia. Reduced blood loss by up to 90% compared to traditional lipo. Unlike Vaser or laser lipo, which risk burns from heat, tumescent lipo is safer for larger fat removal.
Cons: Injected saline with anesthetic is up to 3-4 times the fat amount, risking fluid overload.
Effectiveness: Removes 3-5 liters (or 6-10 pounds) of stubborn fat.
Duration: 2-4 hours
Recovery: About 1-2 weeks for daily activities, with full healing in 4-6 weeks.
Best for: Abdomen, thighs, buttocks, arms, neck. Improves body contour, not for significant weight reduction.
Prices: Cost of Tumescent liposuction in Mexico from $3,000

Body Jet Liposuction

Body Jet liposuction uses a gentle water-jet stream to dislodge and remove fat with precision and minimal trauma.

Pros: Minimizes tissue damage by using water pressure, aiding faster recovery. Reduces bruising by up to 50% compared to traditional methods.
Cons: May not be as effective for large volume fat removal compared to other methods like tumescent liposuction.
Effectiveness: Removes up to 3-4 liters of fat per session.
Duration: 1-3 hours
Recovery: 3-7 days
Best for: Small to moderate areas like abdomen, hips, thighs, and arms. Ideal for those seeking precise body contouring.

Vaser Liposuction

Vaser liposuction is a body contouring procedure using ultrasound technology to selectively remove unwanted fat.

Pros: Less invasive due to precise targeting of fat cells. Removes up to 30% more fat than traditional methods. Minimal damage to surrounding tissues, reducing recovery time compared to belt lipectomy.
Cons: Slightly longer procedure time compared to laser liposuction. Potential for skin irregularities if not performed by an experienced surgeon.
Effectiveness: Removes up to 4 liters of fat in a single session.
Duration: 2-3 hours
Recovery: About 1-2 weeks for daily activities, full healing in 4-6 weeks.
Best for: Abdomen, thighs, flanks, back, arms. Ideal for precise body contouring and definition.
Prices: Cost of Vaser liposuction in Mexico from $2,000

Belt Lipectomy

A surgical procedure that removes excess skin and fat from the midsection, improving body contour.

Pros: Provides comprehensive contouring around the waist and back, addressing multiple areas in one surgery. Unlike liposuction, it tightens loose skin significantly.
Cons: Longer recovery time compared to liposuction procedures like Vaser or Body Jet. Involves more extensive scarring due to the larger incision.
Effectiveness: Removes up to 10-15 pounds of excess skin and fat.
Duration: 4-6 hours
Recovery: About 4-6 weeks for full activity, with initial recovery in 2-3 weeks.
Best for: Individuals with significant skin laxity around the abdomen and lower back, often post-major weight loss.
Prices: Cost of Belt Lipectomy in Mexico from $6,600

Liposuction 3 Body Areas

Fat reduction surgery targeting three specific body areas to improve contour and remove excess fat.

Pros: Efficiently targets multiple areas in one session, reducing overall procedure time. Offers a more balanced body contour compared to focusing on a single area.
Cons: Longer recovery time than single-area liposuction, as the body needs to heal from multiple sites.
Effectiveness: Removes up to 6 liters (or 13 pounds) of fat across the treated areas.
Duration: 3-5 hours
Recovery: 2-3 weeks for daily activities, with full healing in 6-8 weeks.
Best for: Abdomen, thighs, and flanks. Ideal for those seeking comprehensive body contouring.
Prices: Cost of Liposuction 3 body areas in Mexico from $3,100

Liposuction (5 Body Areas)

Body liposuction targets five body areas to remove excess fat and improve body contouring.

Pros: Efficiently targets multiple areas, enhancing overall body symmetry. Removes up to 6-10 pounds of fat, providing a noticeable change.
Cons: Longer procedure time compared to liposuction for fewer areas. Increased risk of complications due to larger treatment areas.
Effectiveness: Removes up to 6-10 pounds of fat.
Duration: 4-6 hours
Recovery: 2-4 weeks for daily activities, with full healing in 6-8 weeks.
Best for: Abdomen, thighs, arms, back, and buttocks. Addresses multiple fat deposits in one session.
Prices: Cost of Liposuction (5 body areas) in Mexico from $3,800

Laser Liposuction

Laser liposuction is a minimally invasive procedure using laser technology to liquefy fat cells before removal.

Pros: Less invasive than traditional methods, with a 25% faster recovery time. Enhanced skin tightening due to laser stimulation.
Cons: Limited to smaller areas, with a risk of burns if not performed correctly. Not ideal for large volume fat removal.
Effectiveness: Removes up to 3 liters of fat in a single session.
Duration: 1-3 hours
Recovery: 2-7 days
Best for: Small areas like chin, arms, and knees. Ideal for contouring and skin tightening.
Prices: Cost of Laser liposuction in Mexico from $2,300

All You Need to Know about Liposuction in Mexico

What is Liposuction?

Liposuction (or lipo) is a cosmetic surgery that removes excess fat deposits to contour the body. It’s not a weight-loss method but a way to refine body shape when diet and exercise aren’t enough.

Liposuction is the most popular plastic surgery worldwide. Every year, over 2.2 million people choose liposuction. That’s about one person every 14 seconds!

Liposuction is such a popular option because it:

✔ Gets rid of resistant fat.

✔ Ehances body contours.

✔ Brings long-lasting results (once fat cells are removed, they don’t grow back!)

✔ Pairs well with surgeries like a tummy tuck, BBL, or skin tightening (BodyTite) for full-body transformation.

✔ Is minimally invasive (tiny incisions mean faster recovery).

Why Choose Liposuction in Mexico?

1. Top destination for plastic surgery

Mexico ranks 3rd in the world for the number of plastic surgeries in general (and liposuctions in particular) performed. Surgeons oversee over 145,000 liposuction procedures yearly, so their expertise is almost unmatched.

2. Medical tourism hotspot

Mexico is the 2nd most popular medical tourism destination. About 1.4 to 3 million international patients travel here every year for affordable, high-quality procedures.

3. Up to 70% lower prices

Liposuction procedures in Mexico cost a fraction of what it does in the US or Canada due to lower operational costs, favorable exchange rates, and competition among clinics.

4. Convenient & accessible location

The geographical proximity of Mexico, especially border cities like Tijuana, is a significant advantage. Tijuana is just 20 miles from San Diego, and travel times for US residents are often under 1 hour. Patients can combine their plastic surgery with a vacation and recover in a luxury resort in Cancun, Los Cabos, or Puerto Vallarta.

5. Full-service treatment

Mexican clinics offer all-inclusive liposuction packages. They cover all the cosmetic surgery essentials, including post-op care, in one go and leave no costs hidden.

Is It Safe to Get Lipo in Mexico?

Yes—if you choose a qualified surgeon and a reputable clinic.

Highly experienced surgeons

Mexican liposuction specialists are board-certified plastic surgeons with 20+ years of experience and international training in body contouring techniques like Vaser liposuction and HD liposuction. They are members of prestigious plastic and aesthetic surgery organizations like:

  • American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS);
  • International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ISAPS).

Accredited clinics

Clinics in major cities like Tijuana, Cancun, and Mexico City meet US safety standards. They have certifications from the Mexican health authority, COFEPRIS, and international accreditations from JCI and ISO.

To ensure a safe experience, choose a board-certified plastic surgeon and check clinic credentials. Bookimed works only with verified and accredited clinics and can help you get the best liposuction in Mexico.

Common Treatment Areas for Liposuction in Mexico

Liposuction is a highly versatile procedure that can remove stubborn fat from nearly any part of the body:

If you want a full-body transformation, lipo 360 in Mexico treats multiple areas in one procedure.

Liposuction Techniques in Mexico

faq image

1️⃣ Traditional (tumescent) liposuction. Injects fluid to loosen fat, then suctions it out. Best for large fat deposits.

2️⃣ Vaser liposuction (ultrasound-assisted liposuction). Uses ultrasound waves to break down fat, making removal easier and promoting skin tightening.

3️⃣ Laser liposuction. Melts fat with laser technology while boosting collagen for firmer skin. Laser lipo is great for small areas.

4️⃣ Body Jet liposuction. Uses a water jet to gently dislodge fat, reducing bruising and swelling.

5️⃣ High-definition (HD) liposuction. Sculpts muscle definition by selectively removing fat for a toned look.

Liposuction vs. Other Procedures

The liposuction procedure removes stubborn fat pockets, but it’s not a weight loss treatment and doesn’t address sagging skin or muscle separation. That’s where other procedures like tummy tuck (abdominoplasty) and bariatric surgery come in.

Who Is a Good Candidate for Lipo in Mexico?

faq image

You may be a good candidate for a liposuction procedure if:

✔ You’re over 18.

✔ You’re at a stable weight (BMI under 30) with excess fat that won’t go away with diet and exercise.

✔ You have good skin elasticity (to prevent sagging after fat removal).

✔ You’re in good overall health, with no serious conditions like uncontrolled diabetes or heart disease.

✔ You don’t smoke or are willing to quit for at least 2 weeks before and after plastic surgery.

✔ You have realistic expectations—liposuction sculpts your body but doesn’t replace weight loss.

How Does Liposuction Surgery in Mexico Work?

Surgery duration

Hospital stay

Stay in the country

1–5 hours

1–3 nights

7–14 days

Preparation

Medical evaluation. Your plastic surgeon will assess your fat distribution, skin elasticity, and health. Some clinics require cardiology clearance and a hemoglobin level of at least 12.5 g/dL.

✔ COVID testing. Some clinics still require a negative PCR test (made within 5 days) or proof of vaccination.

Pre-op instructions. Stop smoking and avoid blood thinners (like aspirin) for at least 2 weeks before cosmetic surgery.

Weight considerations. Clinics usually recommend losing weight if a BMI is above 30.

Liposuction surgery process

1️⃣ Anesthesia. The clinic may use either general anesthesia or an epidural.

2️⃣ Fat removal. Plastic surgeons make small incisions, insert a thin cannula, and remove fat via suction. The incisions are small and typically don’t require stitches.

💭 Patients ask: How many liters of fat can be removed with liposuction in Mexico?

The upper limit for lipo is 5 liters (about 11 lbs).

Liposuction Recovery

Timeframe

What to Expect

3–5 days

Swelling and bruising peak but can be managed with pain meds. Wear a compression garment 24/7.

1–2 weeks

Back to work (desk jobs). The swelling goes down.

3–4 weeks

Mild exercise like stretching and walking can resume.

4–5 weeks

Body shape looks more defined.

6 weeks

Most swelling is gone. Moderate exercise can resume. Compression garments may be worn part-time.

3–6 months

The body fully heals, revealing the final contoured shape.

Recovery tips

✔ Walking helps circulation, but avoid intense workouts for 4–6 weeks.

✔ Cold compresses ease swelling after bandages are off.

✔ Showers are okay after 24 hours, but wait 7–10 days before soaking in water.

✔ Lymphatic massage can speed up recovery.

✔ Stay hydrated & eat protein-rich foods.

Liposuction Risks & Complications

Liposuction is safe when performed by a board-certified plastic surgeon. Still, as with any surgery, there are potential risks:

  • skin irregularities (rippling, contour deformities);
  • fluid buildup;
  • temporary numbness or sensitivity;
  • scarring or discoloration.

💭 Patients ask: What if I have complications in Mexico or after returning home?

In Mexico: Clinics provide 5–10 days of follow-ups to monitor recovery and address any issues before you leave. Some offer free revisions within 6 months (hospital fees may apply).

After returning home: Mexican clinics offer remote consultations so you can stay in touch with your surgeon. They may also offer free revisions within 6 months after surgery.

Liposuction Results: What to Expect

faq image

Liposuction reveals a leaner, more sculpted body. Treated areas appear flatter, firmer, and more proportionate to the rest of the body. You’ll start seeing changes in 4–5 weeks, but the final results take 3–6 months.

💭 Will the fat cells come back?

The liposuction procedure permanently removes excess fat cells, and they won’t grow back. However, the remaining fat cells can still expand if you consume excess calories. So, maintaining a healthy lifestyle after your cosmetic surgery is key.

💭 Will there be visible scars?

Modern liposuction techniques leave minimal scars, not bigger than half an inch (or a little over 1 cm). They will fade over time and become unnoticeable.

What to Know Before Traveling to Mexico for Liposuction

Clinics in Mexico handle most logistics, including airport pick-ups, hotel stays, and transfers. However, patients should plan a few key details.

➤ Visa requirements

Most travelers from the US, Canada, UK, and EU do not need a visa for stays of up to 180 days.

➤ Payment & costs

Clinics charge in Mexican Pesos (MXN) or US Dollars (USD). They accept payments via credit cards, wire transfers, PayPal, or cash. Some clinics require a 10%–15% deposit to secure your appointment.

Tip: Arrive 1–2 days early for pre-op tests if doing them locally.

➤ Traveling alone vs. with a companion
