How Much Does Upper Eyelid Surgery Cost in Mexico?

Upper eyelid surgery in Mexico typically costs from $1,400 to $2,100 depending on the surgical technique and clinic location. Patients save around 69% compared to the US, where the average price is $5,500. Costs usually include the surgeon fee, local anesthesia, facility costs, and initial follow-up consultations at the clinic.

  • Surgical expertise: Board-certified surgeons with AMCPER or ISAPS credentials may charge 25-35% more.
  • Regional hubs: Main medical hubs for this procedure include Tijuana, Cancun, Mexico City, and Guadalajara.
  • Lower eyelid addition: Adding a lower blepharoplasty typically increases the total cost by approximately 40-60%.
  • Facility tier: Private hospitals in Mexicali or luxury recovery houses in Zapopan influence the final price.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Choosing clinics in border cities like Tijuana or Mexicali reduces travel overhead for North Americans. Hospital de la Familia is just steps from the border and holds CSG accreditation. For high-end facial aesthetics, the José Cortés Institute in Mexico City treats 2,500 patients yearly. High volume often leads to more refined results in delicate areas like the eyelids.

Key Benefits
Upper Eyelid Surgery in Mexico is a popular and cost-effective option for those seeking blepharoplasty, with costs ranging from $1,350 to $2,110. This offers significant cost savings, with prices being 57.81% to 67.54% lower than in the US. Particularly popular in cities like Tijuana and Cancun, Mexico attracts patients from around the world for cosmetic surgery. Clinics provide high-quality care, often using advanced techniques like laser technology and adhering to international standards such as ISO 9001. It's crucial to research and choose reputable clinics to ensure safety and satisfactory results.
Data verified by Bookimed as of September 2026, based on patient requests and official quotes from 182 clinics worldwide. Median costs are based on real invoices (2025–2026) and updated monthly. Actual prices may vary.

Factors affecting Upper Eyelid Surgery cost in Mexico

Cost variables to consider:

  • Clinics accredited by JCI or affiliated with ASPS may charge 15%–20% more.
  • Procedures performed in major cities like Cancun or Mexico City can cost up to 30% more due to medical tourism demand.
  • Laser-assisted blepharoplasty can increase costs by 20%–25% due to advanced technology use.

Upper Eyelid Surgery in Mexico: Pros and Cons

Upper Eyelid Surgery in Mexico can offer significant cost savings, but it's crucial to weigh the potential benefits against the risks.

Pros Cons
Lower costs. Upper eyelid surgery in Mexico typically costs $1,350–$2,110, compared to $3,200–$6,500 in the US, offering 58–68% savings. Safety concerns. Potential risks include infection (1–3%), hematoma, or asymmetry. These risks are similar to those in the US when performed by qualified surgeons.
Qualified surgeons. Surgeons are certified by the Mexican Council of Plastic Surgery (CMCPER), with many having 10–30 years' experience and international training. Follow-up care. Postoperative checkups may require travel or remote consultations. Some clinics offer telemedicine support to bridge this gap.
Modern facilities. Procedures are performed in ISO 9001-certified clinics using advanced technology, such as laser-assisted blepharoplasty and equipment from leading brands. Different regulatory standards. COFEPRIS standards differ from the FDA. However, top clinics align with JCI or ISO standards, minimizing regulatory gaps.
Shorter wait times. Scheduling is often faster than in the US or Canada, with procedures available within weeks and streamlined pre-op testing included. Travel and recovery logistics. Patients must plan for a 5–7 day stay for stitch removal and initial recovery, which may add to overall costs and require advance arrangements.
Personal coordinator support. Bookimed’s medical coordinator helps compare clinics, request personalized quotes, and manage treatment logistics at no additional cost.

It's crucial to thoroughly research clinics and verify surgeon credentials before making a decision. When performed by qualified professionals in reputable facilities, Upper Eyelid Surgery in Mexico can offer a safe, cost-effective alternative for blepharoplasty.

If a friend asked me about this clinic for eyelid surgery, my answer would be an absolute no. I chose the traditional incision method for both my upper and lower lids, and the process has been concerning. My biggest challenge is dealing with dry eyes constantly, which is a persistent discomfort throughout the day. The incision lines are still quite red, but the aesthetic result is the most upsetting part. When I smile, you can clearly see how one side is different from the other. The lack of care from the surgeon and staff was palpable. I would not recommend this clinic to anyone.
The doctor did not need with me before the surgery to ask anything that I wanted. They did not do a good job on the surgery. I would not go back

My experience with Dr. Ayala was quite unfortunate... He only spoke with me for about 10 minutes before the surgery and was very reluctant to answer questions afterward when I expressed dissatisfaction with the results of the neck and ear surgery. He mentioned that I could come back in a couple of months for corrections. When I returned, I decided to have an abdominal liposuction at the same time, and again there was a lack of follow-up regarding what I should do, wear, or any other post-operative instructions... Once more, one of my ears was not corrected and looked even worse than before. When I returned to have the sutures removed, I pointed this out, and he said it was normal, whereas I argued that my other ear looked fine, but this one did not. His only suggestion was to wait another couple of months and to return once more. At that point, I showed him my liposuction, which also looked poorly done, with a lot of fibrosis... He provided no advice other than recommending ultrasonic treatments. I looked online and found out I should be wearing compression garments and getting lymphatic drainage massages for the fluid buildup. When I visited a masseuse, she explained everything I needed to do, but it also cost me an additional thousand dollars. The entire experience was very disappointing, and now I have to see another surgeon to correct one of my ears, hopefully for the last time. It all started on January 3, and now it's already May, and I still haven’t resolved the problem! I really liked everyone I worked with, but I cannot, in good conscience, recommend them to anyone because I know they work at this clinic. I know others would be very disappointed as well!

The journey has been positive so far
For anyone considering this surgery, I wanted to share my initial thoughts. I opted for the malleable (semi-rigid) implant. It's still very early in my recovery, so it's genuinely too early to tell what the final outcome will be, but the journey has been positive so far. The clinic environment was great, and I appreciated the friendly staff, which made a real difference in feeling comfortable. I was also pleased that there were no additional expenses on top of the price we agreed on. The clinic team has stayed in touch with me since the procedure, which is very reassuring. It was a solid experience.

All the staff and doctors were skilled, helpful, and very kind; my experience has been very good
All the staff and doctors were skilled, helpful, and very kind; my experience has been very good. My main concern was finding the right surgeon, and I'm happy with my choice for a deep plane facelift. The procedure addressed my full face and neck, and so far, my recovery is progressing about as expected. The clinic has been supportive, providing a clear aftercare guide and being easy to reach. Just note that my medications were an additional expense of $4000 pesos. My best advice: check reviews.

My experience with the surgeon, staff, and clinic has been very positive
If a friend was considering this, I'd tell them my experience with the surgeon, staff, and clinic has been very positive. At this point in my recovery, everything is feeling about as expected. The clinic team has stayed in touch, and I really appreciated that there were no additional expenses on top of what I initially paid. That was a relief. My main piece of advice would be to prepare well for your consultation. I would suggest asking for more time with the doctor before surgery and to bring pictures of what you’d like done specifically to make sure you're aligned.
I was assisted from beginning to end! Great price with a great and safe experience.

This doctor is AWESOME
My biggest concern going into this was the recovery, especially after combining all four procedures. And it is tough. The diastasis recti repair is still very tender, and my biggest mobility challenge is just getting out of bed. It’s a slow process. That said, I can already see an amazing difference in my waist, and my entire torso, which makes the discomfort feel purposeful. This doctor is AWESOME. The support from the surgeon and the entire team was excellent. My most practical advice for other moms is that consistent help is essential for childcare. You will not be able to manage it alone.
This doctor is EXCELLENT. He’s certified, he’s up to date on all treatments. He is judicious and skilled at not just the Sufi al techniques but the aesthetics of the craft. His personality is calm and kind and his staff is supportive. I have had two procedures with him over these past three months and plan to make him ‘my doctor.’ Love this clinic!
Honestly, not really anything except for maybe a clearer structure of post-op recovery therapies and a liaison service or someone to help schedule them efficiently.

Even with initial swelling, the contouring from my full abdominoplasty and liposuction on my flanks is already so much better than expected
The thing that surprised me most was seeing my new waistline so early in the healing process. Even with initial swelling, the contouring from my full abdominoplasty and liposuction on my flanks is already so much better than expected. Recovery has its challenges. For me, the hardest part is that the drains are annoying, but I know that's temporary and part of the journey. My new belly button is healing nicely, which was a relief. The entire team at the clinic was excellent, from the surgeon to the nursing staff. It’s been a solid process so far.
I had a great experience with Dr. Marroquin and staff.
I was not given correct information about the required duration of my stay after surgery. I was also told I needed to lose a significant amount of weight after I booked the surgery and paid the deposit. I had already arranged my flights and hotel and had to reschedule because there was no possible way to lose that amount of weight in the original time frame.

The surgeon and staff were supportive throughout
My main concern going into this was how difficult the recovery would be, and it is definitely a process. The surgeon and staff were supportive throughout. For my extended tummy tuck, they created a new position for my belly button, and my abdomen feels very tight now, which is a good sign. While my stomach is already looking flatter, it's still swollen. The biggest challenge by far is just standing up straight. My advice is to make sure your home is prepared for you to heal and recover in comfort. It really helps. Also, measure yourself before purchasing any faja or compression gear, as the sizes differ so much across different sites.
My coordinator, Carlo, was amazing. He was prompt with answers to any questions. Surgeon, Dr Ayala was very personable and friendly. Staff at clinic was nurturing.
Maybe some post recovery snacks would have been nice.

I'm relieved to say my incisions are already well-hidden behind my ears
My biggest worry beforehand was about scarring and the recovery process. I'm relieved to say my incisions are already well-hidden behind my ears. The surgeon performed a deep plane lift, and the result so far is a jawline with noticeable new definition. My neck feels comfortably snug, not painfully tight. The hardest part of recovery has been sleeping elevated, which is to be expected but still challenging. Overall, the process with the clinic and staff was very straightforward. My one tip for others would be to prepare your kitchen in advance: get soft foods and melons, fresh fruits or steam-able vegetables like carrots. You'll want to take small bites at first.
The surgery had to be delayed because I was not feeling well right after arriving at my hotel. I came from outside Mexico for the procedure. We were able to do it a week later, and I stayed extra days for the reschedule. The staff is great and very personable. On the phone I spoke to and messaged the Doctor's personal assistant, and he speaks and writes great English. On the day of surgery, I stayed overnight following the procedure, and my night nurse had her phone set up so we could speak, translating questions, answers, and instructions back and forth. The dinner was beverages, yogurt, freshly made grilled chicken with steamed vegetables, the morning breakfast was eggs, yogurt with melon for breakfast. I stayed in a private room. I saw Dr. Aguilera right after I was prepped for surgery by the anesthesiologist and two nurses, who introduced themselves. Dr. Aguilera met me in the operating room, before I was given the final dose of sleeping medication, and was the first person I saw, still in the operating room, when emerging from anesthesia. The following day, the doctor checked my sutures and gave me some advice about what to do and not to do, the following day. He was satisfied with my recovery, so my head and neck were wrapped up for the Uber ride back to my hotel apartment. We had a stove, microwave, dishes and a full refrigerator in the room where we were staying. This is so convenient for gel packs, fresh foods and juices. I felt extremely comfortable traveling home on a three-hour flight, 10 days after the operation. Based on my experience, Plan fourteen days, giving yourselves an opportunity to settle in will make for a much more gratifying experience. Mexico City is quite easy to travel around, and since it is high altitude, the best way to adjust is to see the city or neighborhood you live in as you prepare for your procedure. I highly recommend Dr. Aguilera; I am healing well, and I am happy with the results.
The internet reception is not good on the sidewalk in front of the building, probably due to the other tall buildings. Just make sure you have made any arrangements for pick-up in the office where the wi-fi is.

I felt like both were done taking exactly what I wanted into account and the overall symmetry at the end for my nostrils was excellent - my nose had been broken and before surgery lack of symmetry was a big issue
I had a really great experience with my doctor and care here. I wanted a very natural looking nose, not to look "doll-like" or like I had a rhinoplasty. Same for lip filler. I felt like both were done taking exactly what I wanted into account and the overall symmetry at the end for my nostrils was excellent - my nose had been broken and before surgery lack of symmetry was a big issue. I believe it required different degrees of cutting for each nostril so I'm very impressed that the end result's symmetry appears less than 1mm different from one another, that's a huge improvement from before. The shape is really nice and I was impressed that after surgery the packing was done in such a way that I was able to breathe through my nose the whole time, even during my recovery.

Terrible surgeon. Will not take the time to speak with you, when he does he knows limited English and is very very rushed. The first time me he gave me results that were so drastic I looked like a pig or someone from who-ville. I had to pay for a second surgery for him to give me my old nose but even worse! (Again super rushed, had zero time to make a decision). Absolutely awful experience. Scary. He refused to even try to fix my nose now for another 6 months. Even though I offered to pay again. Have to date and see friends humiliated with a half finished face. Go to someone with talent and who actually cares. He doesn’t. You are just a number to the surgeons there.

Upper Eyelid Surgery: Before & after photos

View all

Before and after photos of upper eyelid surgery in Mexico can help you imagine a more refreshed, youthful look around your eyes. These images clearly show the improvement from drooping, heavy eyelids to a smoother, more open appearance. Results are particularly dramatic for patients with moderate to severe upper eyelid sagging—studies report functional improvement in visual fields for over 80% of cases.

Patients typically experience noticeable changes within 2 to 4 weeks, with final results achieved by 3 to 6 months. The procedure, known as upper blepharoplasty, uses precise surgical excision of excess skin and fat to restore eyelid contour. Results often last 5 to 10 years, following established oculoplastic surgery standards.

How can I verify if an upper eyelid surgery doctor in Mexico is properly board-certified?

Verify a Mexican surgeon credentials by confirming their active status with the Mexican Council of Plastic, Aesthetic and Reconstructive Surgery (CMCPER). Qualified specialists like Dr. Jose Cortes and Dr. Rafael Camberos hold this mandatory certification. Bookimed handles the verification of all medical licenses and hospital accreditations for you.

  • Council registration: Surgeons must appear in the CMCPER directory to perform aesthetic plastic surgery.
  • Professional license: Verify both general and specialty licenses (cedula) through the Secretariat of Public Education.
  • International memberships: Membership in the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS) indicates international training standards.

Selecting a surgeon with both CMCPER certification and international fellowship training typically results in more refined aesthetic outcomes.

Patient Consensus: Patients emphasize the importance of checking public registries rather than trusting website badges or marketing slogans. Many note that outcomes improve when choosing doctors who focus specifically on eyelid cases.
