"Clinic definitely recommend
When they learned what was needed in the clinic, they didn’t even know where to run and whom to contact. Coordinators helped to select a clinic. They gave us a doctor. Everything went great, the doctor is a true professional.  Separately, I want to note the attitude to patients. We were met at the airport, brought to the clinic and there was already a translator waiting. Literally "by the hand" we were taken to the doctors, everyone translated. Then they provided a taxi to the hotel.   During the operation, the ward was provided for two people - for the patient and the attendant; both of them were included in the cost of the operation.   After surgery, the doctor held a consultation, making sure that you can fly back. And only then answered questions remotely that arose.  Clinic definitely recommend

Doctors seemed professional
Doctors seemed professional. Low quality translation from Turkish to Russian and vice versa. For some reason, after PET KT (perhaps a coincidence), upon returning home, it was sharply worse. We had to urgently operate, although Turkish oncologists did not see the need for an operation, but offered to wait a month.

FAQ about treatment in Turkey

These FAQs come from real patients seeking medical assistance through Bookimed. Answers are given by experienced medical coordinators and trusted clinic representatives.

What language and coordination support is provided for international patients receiving radiotherapy for uterine cancer in Istanbul?

JCI-accredited oncology centers in Istanbul provide full international patient support. This includes multilingual medical interpreters and dedicated personal coordinators. These services help with radiation oncologist consultations and treatment scheduling for multi-week sessions. They also arrange logistics like VIP airport transfers and local hotel bookings near radiotherapy units.

  • Multilingual medical interpretation: Dedicated staff help with informed consent and daily treatment alignment sessions.
  • Personal patient coordinators: Single-point-of-contact managers handle scheduling for CT simulations and external beam sessions.
  • Pre-travel diagnostic review: International departments help arrange remote multidisciplinary tumor board reviews before the patient arrives.
  • Logistical concierge services: Packages often include airport-to-hotel transfers and help coordinate translated medical summaries.

Bookimed Expert Insight: While many clinics offer general support, specialized centers like Anadolu Medical Center provide dedicated personal coordinators. These coordinators manage complex sequencing for MR Linac or CyberKnife treatments. This level of coordination is vital for radiotherapy. Scheduling precision directly impacts treatment outcomes and the length of the patient‘s stay.

Patient Consensus: Patients emphasize that top oncologists often speak fluent English. Still, having a dedicated hospital translator is essential for navigating complex medical paperwork and radiation logistics.

What advanced radiotherapy techniques are available for uterine cancer in Istanbul?

Advanced radiotherapy for uterine cancer in Istanbul uses high-precision systems like MR-Linac and CyberKnife. These systems target tumors while protecting healthy pelvic tissue. JCI-accredited centers offer techniques such as Intensity-Modulated Radiation Therapy (IMRT), Volumetric Modulated Arc Therapy (VMAT), and HDR brachytherapy for post-surgical or definitive care.

  • Adaptive technology: MR-Linac provides real-time soft-tissue imaging during treatment for sub-millimeter precision.
  • Advanced delivery: Varian TrueBeam and Elekta Versa HD systems shorten treatment times significantly.
  • Internal radiation: 3D brachytherapy delivers localized high-dose radiation directly to the vaginal cuff.
  • Specialized targeting: CyberKnife and SBRT treat isolated recurrences with high-dose ablative radiation beams.

Bookimed Expert Insight: The true advantage in Istanbul is the high volume of MR-guided adaptive SRS cases. For instance, Professor Banu Atalar at Anadolu Medical Center performs more than 70% of her clinical practice using SRS and MR-Linac. This specific expertise is crucial for uterine cancer because internal pelvic organs shift daily. Adaptive planning allows surgeons to adjust the beam on the table rather than using a static, less precise map.

Patient Consensus: A full bladder and empty bowels are a vital practical challenge for daily sessions. Patients recommend choosing centers with dedicated gynecologic radiation oncologists who emphasize 3D brachytherapy to prevent local recurrence.
