Dr Furkan Karabekmez was born in 1975. He married and has three daughters.
He had my medical degree from the University of Istanbul, Faculty of Medicine which is one of the best medical schools in Turkey in 1999. He finished Plastic Surgery training at Selcuk University, Faculty of Medicine, Department of Plastic, Reconstructive, and Aesthetic Surgery Clinic for seven and a half years and got specialist degree in 2009. During this period, He spent 15 months at Mayo Clinic, Plastic Surgery department as a Research Fellow, joined clinical and surgical procedures and published several articles in his field.
After finishing his residency, Dr Furkan worked as a specialist in Plastic, Reconstructive, and Aesthetic Surgery for two years, and then he started work as an Associate Professor at Abant Izzet Baysal University School of Medicine for three years. During these periods, he passed the written and oral exams and had the European Board of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery Diploma thus he became a member of EURAPS (European Association of Plastic Surgeons).
He worked in Munster University Clinical, Oral Maxillofacial Surgery department as a visiting fellow. He had an Oral, Maxillofacial Surgery specialty diploma from the Turkish Ministry of Health and had experience in Orthognathic surgery. After the end of 2014, he work as the chief of the department and Associate Professor in Kecioren Education and Research Hospital Plastic, Reconstructive, and Aesthetic Surgery Clinic with 4 residents and three consultants in the clinic.
He worked at Al Hayat National Hospital (formerly known as Aldar Hospital) in Saudi Arabia for two years and have the licence from Saudi Commission for Health Specialties.
He can speak fluently English and Turkish and have a beginner-level Arabic language. In December 2021, he started to work in his private clinic in Ankara Turkey. He is giving lectures in Ankara Medipol University Faculty of Medicine (English education) as a Professor of Plastic surgery.
He has published 58 previewed articles (39 international, 19 national), several book chapters and translations of chapters, He had presented 128 presentation (51 international in international meetings, 78 in national meetings). He has took part of international and national Plastic Surgery scientific meetings as scientific secretariat and lecturer.
