Overall, we were very happy with the care my father received
My father’s medical experience with Memorial Şişli was great. Everything was well-organized, and we felt supported throughout the entire process. The doctor was professional, knowledgeable, and patient in explaining every detail, which reassured us that my father was in good hands. I was also really impressed by how quickly everything was arranged. There were no unnecessary delays, and the entire medical service was coordinated seamlessly. Our online medical coordinator was always available whenever we had questions, making the whole process much easier. Having a interpreter readily available was a huge help as well—they were efficient and made communication effortless. The hospital was spotless, and cleanliness was clearly a top priority, which gave us even more peace of mind. Overall, we were very happy with the care my father received. The professionalism and efficiency of the entire team made a real difference, and I would highly recommend the hospital to anyone seeking quality medical care abroad.

The examination was successful, the results pleased me
In July 2022, I underwent an examination at the Anadolu clinic. The examination was conducted by Dr. Zafer Gulbash. Everything went very professionally, at a high level. It can be seen that the specialist is highly professional and competent. I would also like to note the high level of service of Bookimed employee Anna Khomenko. Very friendly, competent staff. I also wanted to express my gratitude to the staff of the clinic Anadol Osman Shahin, Zahida, Khalida and others, whose names I unfortunately did not remember.

SPECIAL THANKS TO BUKIMEDA COORDINATOR PAVL
I went to the Liv Istinier clinic for treatment. The treatment was planned for a month. It was provided with an examination and recommendations for treatment at home. In general, the trip went well, thanks to the coordinators Dilvar, Tuba, Niyaz. SPECIAL THANKS TO BUKIMEDA COORDINATOR PAVL. Before the trip, I read a lot of reviews, what problems there might be. I also had them, but Pavel was always in touch, and it was all solved in 5-10 minutes, without exaggeration. In 3-4 months, if everything is normal, I will go to the clinic for control.

Logistics (hotel accommodation, transfer), translator on top
The clinic is modern, the staff is attentive, competent, highly qualified. The approach to the organization of diagnosis and treatment professional. Everything went according to schedule. The language barrier was not felt. I was somewhat surprised by the lack of sanepid mode, in my opinion. Logistics (hotel accommodation, transfer), translator on top. Great site, great service. Kind, competent, attentive and caring attitude of employees. You do not feel useless and lonely.

We are all happy
At the moment, I am undergoing chemotherapy at the Medipol clinic. The clinic is very good, the doctors are attentive and friendly. Constant support of a translator helps a lot. Found this clinic with the help of booked, they very quickly organized a flight and a visit to the doctor. Accommodation for the entire period of treatment was provided by the clinic for free, as well as three meals a day. We are all happy.

Doctors seemed professional
Doctors seemed professional. Low quality translation from Turkish to Russian and vice versa. For some reason, after PET KT (perhaps a coincidence), upon returning home, it was sharply worse. We had to urgently operate, although Turkish oncologists did not see the need for an operation, but offered to wait a month.

FAQ about treatment in Turkey

These FAQs come from real patients seeking medical assistance through Bookimed. Answers are given by experienced medical coordinators and trusted clinic representatives.

Which prominent hospitals and cancer centers in Istanbul handle gynecologic oncology?

Istanbul has JCI-accredited cancer centers that specialize in gynecologic oncology. Examples include Anadolu Medical Center and Memorial Sisli Hospital. These facilities offer multidisciplinary care. This includes cytoreductive surgeries, robotic-assisted procedures, and targeted chemotherapy for ovarian, uterine, and cervical cancers. Fellowship-trained oncologists perform these procedures.

  • Anadolu Medical Center: It is affiliated with Johns Hopkins Medicine and holds Gold Certification for Excellence in Person-Centered Care.
  • Memorial Hospital Group: It was the first hospital group in Turkey to achieve JCI accreditation and has high organ transplant success rates.
  • Hisar Intercontinental Hospital: It uses MR-LINAC technology and imaging for precise pelvic cancer staging and treatment.
  • Specialized oncology departments: Centers like Emsey Hospital offer Temos-accredited services and large bone marrow transplant units.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Anadolu Medical Center stands out because it combines international academic standards with high patient volume. It serves over 65,000 patients each year. Many facilities offer robotic systems like the Da Vinci robot. However, this center’s Newsweek-ranked status and IASIOS certification for interventional oncology provide an extra level of safety for complex gynecological cases.

Patient Consensus: Patients tend to prefer hospitals with strong university ties, like Yeditepe. They also favor specialized clinics, such as Acibadem Altunizade, for reproductive cancer care. Research suggests that patients request specific chemotherapy protocols. It also recommends confirming language support services before finalizing travel plans.

Why do international patients choose Istanbul for ovarian cancer chemotherapy and treatment?

International patients choose Istanbul for ovarian cancer care. They can get therapies like HIPEC and targeted treatments at JCI-accredited facilities. Expert oncologists provide rapid diagnostic staging with no waiting lists. Many of these doctors have fellowships from institutions like MD Anderson.

  • Specialized techniques: Clinics offer HIPEC, immunotherapy (Keytruda), and robotic-assisted cytoreductive surgery.
  • Elite accreditations: Facilities like Anadolu Medical Center have OECI certification and an affiliation with Johns Hopkins Medicine.
  • Expert oncologists: Professors like Yesim Yildirim bring over 20 years of experience in precision oncology.
  • Significant savings: Treatment in Istanbul averages _op_709_city_107$7,800, offering around _price_percent_discount_% savings versus US prices.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Cost attracts patients to Istanbul. However, the real advantage is the integration of AI-driven tools like Watson for Oncology. Clinics like İstinye University Liv Hospital use these systems. They cross-reference global clinical trials. This ensures personalized chemotherapy protocols that match international standards.

Patient Consensus: Patients often emphasize the importance of shortlisting specific oncologists rather than just clinics. They value the ease of scheduling and English-friendly communication. This significantly reduces the stress of managing complex cancer care abroad.

What types of specialized chemotherapy are available for ovarian cancer in Istanbul clinics?

Istanbul clinics provide specialized ovarian cancer therapies. Options include Hyperthermic Intraperitoneal Chemotherapy (HIPEC), targeted therapy with Bevacizumab, and immunotherapy. Leading JCI-accredited centers like Anadolu Medical Center and Memorial Sisli use platinum-based protocols along with molecular targeted biological agents for advanced or recurrent disease.

  • HIPEC therapy: Heated chemotherapy delivered directly to the abdomen during debulking surgery for maximum effect.
  • Targeted therapy: Precise drug combinations, including Avastin, to inhibit tumor blood vessel growth.
  • Immunotherapy options: Advanced drugs like Keytruda (Pembrolizumab) help the immune system identify and destroy cells.
  • Systemic protocols: Standard carboplatin and paclitaxel combinations serve as primary first-line or neoadjuvant treatments.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Anadolu Medical Center stands out because its affiliation with Johns Hopkins Medicine gives patients access to US-level oncology protocols. Their oncologists, such as Prof. Yesim Yildirim, often integrate molecular profiling to decide between standard chemotherapy and newer targeted biological treatments.

Patient Consensus: Patients emphasize the importance of choosing hospitals with in-house labs and imaging for longitudinal care. They suggest confirming if the oncology team coordinates closely with surgeons for optimal timing of HIPEC.

How is the treatment sequence decided for newly diagnosed ovarian cancer in Istanbul?

In Istanbul, a multidisciplinary tumor board decides the treatment sequence. The decision considers the cancer stage and surgical resectability. Surgeons prioritize primary debulking surgery for early stages (I-II). Advanced cases often need neoadjuvant chemotherapy first. This shrinks tumors before the interval debulking procedure.

  • Surgical feasibility: The treatment sequence depends on achieving R0 resection (removing all visible tumors) during primary surgery.
  • Neoadjuvant protocol: Advanced cases typically receive 3 chemotherapy cycles, interval surgery, then 3 additional cycles.
  • Entity coordination: Tumor boards include gynecologic oncologists, medical oncologists, and radiologists to create a complete treatment plan.
  • Genetic profiling: Early BRCA and HRD testing helps doctors add targeted maintenance therapies such as PARP inhibitors.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Istanbul clinics like Anadolu Medical Center benefit from Johns Hopkins affiliations. Their protocols match top US standards. Chemotherapy averages _op_709_city_107$7,800 in Istanbul, but the real value is in the surgical expertise. Some surgeons only attempt primary debulking when a complete R0 resection is likely. These surgeons achieve the highest success rates. If the tumor is too extensive, starting with chemotherapy is the safer, evidence-based route.

Patient Consensus: Patients emphasize that the plan stays flexible until the first surgical exam or imaging results. Patients often ask if the surgeon can realistically remove all visible disease. This question comes before committing to the sequence.
